  1. They did say they had seen the images too, but can't reveal their source. The palm trees are a play feature. I think you push down on some of them to reveal something?? I don't know, that's what I read somewhere. I didn't think they looked bad, but what do I know. It will be interesting to see the final images. I am excited for more blue coats. And hopefully the pirate torsos will look good.
  2. Neat details. The barrels work well here. I had a similar idea of a winery/bottlery just last night. I did not have the idea to have someone try to assassinate or rob the place though. I don't care for the figures up top. Is it indicating there is a street or a walkway above the winery? As it stands, it looks like two people on top of this narrow ledge just minding their own business even though some stuff is going down below them..
  3. Seeing things in the brick is always better. This is more appealing to me now, which shows that it is a good quality interior. I am more of a tile person on floors, but the stud effect works considering the rest of the line. I really do like the bar stools (I'm definitely borrowing that idea) and the bench cushions. Very clever. I've been struggling with this building. I've modified it multiple times, but I keep seeming to want to go back to corner instead of a different version. Too bad.
  4. I would hope for a modular in the new Cool Yellow color from Friends. That seems like a nice soothing color that isn't too bright. A lot of the modulars are more subdued colors. I've been wanting something with Dark Green, but I think that'd be too dark overall. I'd love a medium nougat building. That color seems to be gaining some speed in other areas.
  5. I really like the color scheme. It fits with the season quite well. (We all know it is Fall, not Autumn ) I like the wind and leaves effect it is giving. P.S. I prefer Autumn, but I've only ever heard it as Fall growing up.
  6. Very clever part usage. I like the overall build. It fits with the story well. I've never read that. I don't know much about Roman history. It does seem like an interesting time period, but I'm sure if I read it, then I'd join the ranks of others who are clamoring for more Roman themed figures. I can't afford anything else haha Keep up the great work!
  7. I agree on the Pie Maker bit. Great show. I haven't seen GotG yet, so I didn't know Lee Pace was in that. Good deal. I may have to look into it sometime. I didn't realize Groot's hands were that big. Makes sense though. I should probably buy these sets sometime, huh...
  8. First off, thanks to J2G for these. It's nice to see something finalized. I thought the purpose of Licensed sets was for the figures only..and the bricks were just a bonus? that is how I have been interpreting them for so long now. Anyway, the sets themselves are okay looking. I think I was more excited for the prelims than the actual results. I don't know what shifted, but my interest was lowered. With that said, I will probably still pick them all up, but mostly just for the figures. I don't love the new style wings. I hate plastic wings. The geonosians were useless. It will make sitting easier I guess. The bigfigs are a disappointment. I didn't know what to expect, since I have never heard of these characters before, but I don't follow the comics very closely. I may be the only one that likes the Bat-mech. We need more Bat vehicles and characters! (I think I am the only one asking for this). But I like seeing a new Wonder Woman. I'll have one to give to my daughter now. Pants are more appropriate than underwear anyway. It does sound like an expensive wave though. But I guess the bigfigs will bump up the price quite a bit.
  9. Someone posted earlier, if you consider another common name for a motorcycle is a chopper. (I realize it is a specific type of motorcycle, but still). But maybe the chopper is the motorcycle, not an actual heli-copter... But all three sets are must buys for me. I didn't buy any from this previous wave, save Cloud Cuckoo. So all of these will basically be new for me. I really like the sitting Unikitty. Easy enough to do, but I like the idea. That's all LEGO has to do. Listen to fans and give them what they want at a fair price point. They will fly off the shelves and make a larger profit margin instead of a few big sets at high dollar...
  10. Pretty neat overall, but I don't love the floor to ceiling windows. I'd think there would be some wall structure inbetween it, at least for a brick height at the top. I love lots of windows otherwise. I'd agree on making the roof more angled to fit in with the rest of the line. Although some of those larger turn of the century mansions are pretty flat roofed. And then, definitely add the sidewalk people mentioned. That should help round out the MOC.
  11. I really like that studded roof for some reason. I love the slopes the Modular series brings, but there is something very appealing of the studded roof on this particular modular. The details are nice. I don't love the brick wall on the back personally. But I don't love giant facades using the masonry bricks. Something feels off with it, I don't know why. Keep up the great work. I'm sure I'll pick this set up eventually.
  12. It looks good. I think it needs the sidewalk on the side though. That would help out a bit. I do think it is a downfall to have it so long. It would be a big hit if it fit within the current Modular standard. It'd blend right in. I think by making it longer (which I understand the necessity) it limits it's use outside of that. As in, I wouldn't be able to attach it. My shelves only fit 32 inch baseplates basically. The interior looks neat. I can't see the details too well because it goes to a smaller picture. Unless I'm doing something wrong. But it looks good. Keep up the good work.
  13. Interesting changes. From memory, I can't tell a difference! So, I'd assume that means they are good worthy changes instead of garish ones. Keep up the good work. I doubt I'll MOD this whenever I get it, but it's nice to know it is doable.
  14. I like how it turned out. My main problem (and it doesn't have to do with the set design) is the use of the 1x2 masonry brick in white...non-existant in LEGO currently. otherwise I'd put this into production right now!
  15. ^It's best to have everything get handed to you. So make it an easy <insert that tiresome argument> build. That will surely boost sales... wait, you mean, it won't? You mean, it might bankrupt us? Blasphemy... I think the primary thing I would do is try to get more life out of certain molds and/or try to make new colors out of other molds to expand the palette. I don't know how many times I'd want to build something in a certain color, but that piece isn't available in that color. (I'm not saying create a new color, just expand an existing color.)
  16. Thanks for the review. Definitely worth getting. I am buying it for the reasons above -- minifigures, pieces. I won't buy multiples, but mostly because I don't have unlimited money. I don't care to amass an Iron Hill army, although if LEGO offered a battle pack for them, I would have definitely done so. The figures look great here. I prefer Licensed skin tones, so the non-crossover for yellow doesn't bother me. I'm usually more upset about yellow ruining it for Licensed skin tone. I was actually wanting another Legolas in this outfit, so that works out for me. One Azog is enough for me, so that might offset the cost a bit if I sell him.
  17. I was just thinking about doing this last night. I still haven't built the official version and was thinking I'd use that as a baseline to build something larger, much like this. I'll definitely change mine compared to yours, but it has a similar idea. I'd imagine a lot of the soldiers were from the Uruk Hai army set considering how many Uruks are there also. I couldn't imagine the money needed to amass that type of army now since everything has been discontinued. I should have picked up more than 3.
  18. I really need to just get on the ball and start MOCing some of these cool scenes. I have too many projects and official sets to ever get around to MOCing anything. Stupid LEGO!
  19. The worst of it is the potential. You can't base everything off of potential since some things don't prosper, but a Middle Earth license has an open world of potential. But if the numbers aren't there, then there is no business reason to continue it. But their profit margins are so high anymore, they can take a hit to help out some of us fans, right? right?
  20. I like the concept. I like the size. There are a lot of neat features here. I still don't understand the build design that some people have taken, but it is nice to see some variety I guess. I think I like smoother builds, so a lot of textures seems weird to my brain. But maybe I'll get used to it. I'm not abstract enough of a person. Keep up the great work
  21. ^Exactly. If they produced all of the colors we want, they'd go broke (speaking of which, look at their color scheme when they almost did go broke). As far as color swaps, I'd love another black hull so I can extend my Black Pearl. They are too costly to buy a few extras. But maybe they will release it again with the new movie. I could see a dark blue hull. I'd almost want a white hull for them for some reason. I feel too much blue would be a bad thing. I like the older Spanish ship with the white hull and the blue top. But as far as designers choice, they probably felt it was better to get some of these other elements in new colors/prints instead of a new hull color. Especially since most kids probably don't care. They'd expect a ship hull to be brown. Is this one reddish brown, we think? I don't own any reddish brown hulls, only dark brown. So this is actually a change for me.
  22. Nicely done. I think it looks great. I had wanted to build one of these for a while. I wanted to make it transform, but considering I've never built a figure with joints before, probably not going to happen to make it transform. But I like the static version too. I may look back at this for inspiration if I ever get around to doing mine.
  23. Well done. I had planned to do something similar, only different. I wanted to extend a copy just to make more of a house, not necessarily to hold all of the dwarves, but that makes sense. I like how you have arranged things. A lot of good details on the inside. It will be interesting to see the finished product. Do you have an estimated cost for the project? I know how much 2 Bag End sets would cost, but I'm sure that doesn't include everything and I doubt you used all of the pieces from that second set.
  24. I don't think most Middle Earth related items have sold too well. I may be alone and I know this isn't the discussion for the movies. But I just haven't felt a good vibe from the new movies like I did with LOTR. I felt like the writing was different and the characters were more likeable. Either way, in terms of sets, it will always be incomplete for LOTR. And I highly doubt LEGO will ever release any information about the license, only so they don't burn any bridges for future partnerships. If they place the blame or make the licensor out to be the bad guy, they won't get any future licenses. If they paint themselves to be the bad guy, it will irk fans. Not knowing irks fans, but without making it official, it probably stings less.
  25. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say you have the Kaliphlin architecture down to a science. Great work all around. A lot of great details. I like seeing the different market areas. I'd agree about color scheme. The only problem is, city wall, buildings, and groundwork is all very similar. I'd almost suggest more light/dark bley as ground work? Or more brownish textures for the buildings, at least in part to break it up. I realize in real life there may be similar shades to things and this would be very fitting, but it is hard to show that through LEGO. I'm just now beginning to try to build a castle, but I'd love to eventually build a little city scene like this. Keep up the great work!
