  1. This works well as a stand alone house. I've never played the game. My wife has lost too many people to it, plus I didn't have interest in it. But I like what you have built here.
  2. Nicely done. I would prefer white, and honestly I must insist. Tear this down and rebuild in white. I demand it! I like the scale actually. Too much bigger and it would be hard to manage. Too much smaller and the details may get lost. I have considered doing something like this, although it would be really low on the list behind many other things I want to build. But I think I would do it in white, and with very little white of my own, I would never spend the money... Keep up the good work!
  3. I finally found some at a target near here, but nowhere else in town. The person working in the toy department said he was surprised they still had some since they sold out already at other Targets. Either way, I felt them forever and I think I got a complete set. But family business came up so I haven't been able to check all of them at home yet. Hopefully I did and won't have to return since it's been a handful of days and my interest has waned.
  4. Now why can't she wear a dress and still be a fighter? She has pants here, but if we are going to expand this feminism idea, she should have a dress and a sword! At least my daughter would like that. She hates wearing pants, but she is a fighter. Archery at age 5 isn't odd is it?
  5. There is definitely a fine line on how much detail is enough. I like a lot of newer versions of figures more than earlier adaptations, but that is mostly because I started buying with the new. I probably wouldn't need updated versions of the MF line-up otherwise. Sure, new prints are great, but the figures looked pretty solid before all of the changes happened. I am disappointed with the constant changes in army building type figures. You have your army going strong, then all of a sudden they start to look different when they should all look the same. I realize, it's a business and LEGO wants to make money. And they know people will shell out more money for newer figures that look good. But there has to be an endpoint somewhere right? Why bother buying any army builders if they are just going to change the helmet mold/print or add some tiny detail that throws off the army style. Might as well wait until they are done changing them and then army build. By then, LEGO would have quit making money on updated figures so they would quit doing it... (my silly speculation of course).
  6. I really like the bike shop the most. Although I'd want to use black windows with that color facade. But I like how it turned out. I don't love a blank wall of brick bricks though. I just don't for some reason. The walkway inbetween the two smaller buildings is neat. I've considered doing that before, but wasn't sure how I'd execute it. I see now how that is quite easy to follow through with. I like seeing all of the 16 wides together. A very big variety there.
  7. Well, the problem becomes how many are actually in stock? Things could get retired out of order, even if that wasn't planned. If one sold out stock quicker (even though it took longer to reach that point) LEGO might not feel it is justified to do another production run. In that sense, then it would be retired out of order, but only because the stock dictated it, not necessarily popularity. LEGO doesn't want to sit with a lot of product on their hands, when they could just as well push something new through the factories that will still sell. If things are this low on stock and there will be an increased demand, so it will more than likely sell out quicker. Again, that doesn't show LEGO they need to do another production run. Now, I don't support investors either, so it'd be great if LEGO did keep it available much longer, similar to the FB to hopefully keep aftermarket prices down.
  8. ^I agree. I expected more pink and "girly" colors. I do agree about the different sail usage, but can't beat free. I had considered building a ship from the white hull of the Dolphin Cruiser, but never got around to it. It might be a good idea to use the female pirate hat from the actual QAR ship to give the captain some true colors.
  9. This is very interesting. I don't think I have the creativity to come up with that style of build design. I like the idea of a canal through a town. I haven't been to Europe, but there is a canal downtown Indianapolis that I used to walk around during my lunch break. That was neat having it right there, but it didn't have the same aesthetic that yours does. Good luck with this project. It looks promising.
  10. I think Modulars struggle with taller AND wider in reality. That is just my opinion though. But the proportions get thrown off a lot when meddling with adding an extra layer here or extra width there. With that said, I think I'd probably build out before I'd build up, depending on the structure and how I can keep the proportions looking appropriate. I have ideas for an expanded town hall that is completely different than everyone else's version that I think would keep the proportions okay and make it different enough to fit in the layout. Although when looking at real life counterparts to the GE, it does look better taller (only because the original style building was tall and hefty like that).
  11. This is exactly what I've been looking for for inspiration! I've been wanting to build one that actually transforms, but then just decided to build a stand alone model. This is perfect. I will definitely look back at this and see if I can pick up any good tips (I'm sure I will). Any other tips you would be willing to share with a newbie vehicle/transformer builder?
  12. I like both, so I don't have a lot of input. My childhood had open backed sets. The modulars look great for display, but it is hard for play, so I keep a lot of things open backed. I've considered using open back designs on all of the modulars since I never see the back of them. Just some slight modding here and there. And then it frees up a lot of other bricks for other projects..hmmm
  13. Is your base 18? I thought the rules was 16. But it looks decent enough. This was a similar idea to what I was going to do. I'll have to come up with something different.
  14. Thanks for posting. I can definitely pass on a good chunk of these. But there are a few winners, but mostly just figures. I tend to not get too many actual sets for the sets when it comes to SW. Summer is usually the saving grace of this theme. But the winter sets are cool. I like what I'm seeing with Rebels, even if it is child aimed and not the OT/PT. I'll pick up that Sabine for sure. In the At-Dp or whatever, what character is the one in black supposed to be? I don't know much about SW history. The torso looks cool. I'm unsure on the helmet. The tusken looks good, but I don't want to spend money on that set just for him. I agree about the snowspeeder helmet. I'd like it white to match the others. Gray makes sense for the above picture, but now it won't blend in. I was collecting all of the helmets, but I can probably pass on this one.
  15. They should implement a better way to store the figure within the book. It seems quite easy to steal. Although the figure is still in all of my books. I have yet to attempt to remove them in case I tear the book. But theft is theft and definitely not something that needs to happen. It's a consumer world. If you want it bad enough, save up. If you can't justify it, then don't get it. No reason to steal. There are a lot of things I want in this world, but I live without.
  16. Unfortunately collector 95% and MOC/MOD the remaining 5%..but that is only due to time and budget available. I just don't have time to touch LEGO, let alone sit down and MOC something. It usually takes me a while to build something, so nothing ever gets done. I end up just collecting figures/sets (whatever is cheaper) and stockpile pieces until one day when I have time..maybe when I'm dead?
  17. I haven't cared for this theme, but there are always some interesting pieces. I may pick up a set or two for once, but probably would wait for a sale. But I'm liking where LEGO is going with this.
  18. Looks very fitting for the official version we got. I would almost consider changing the dark green on the build to dark red (other than the window frames), but keep the dark green roof. As it stands, i think it may be too much, but that is just my own opinion.
  19. Great looking sets overall. The figures look good. We should end up with a fair number of soldiers and pirates. Although doesn't seem to be too much variation. I like the updated print of the bluecoats, although I like the dark blue Revolutionary Soldier more. These will be a nice addition. I would have preferred red epaulettes though. Those are hard to come by for a good price anymore. Isn't white epaulettes on a bluecoat historically Danish? I know very little of any of this, but I thought I read that somewhere before. Can't wait to pick these up. There are too many new full waves I want to buy every set from next year.
  20. This is a contest I can get behind. I've been on a LOTR binge lately. Now to actually find time to build something for once. And hope I have the appropriate pieces! Let's get to planning.
  21. I know it is just wiki, but according to this, it gives exact numbers.
  22. Nicely done. Do you feel it was worth it? When I tallied mine, I ended up using a lot of my own pieces from other sets. Now I was not sure how to calculate the specific prices for all of those pieces, so I gave up. But I know I spent far less than what I would starting from scratch.
  23. Lucky finding them for so cheap. I really don't want to spend $4 per figure to get a complete set. I can think of many other LEGO related things I'd spend that money on.
  24. ^Learn something new every day. I've never known what people meant by that. I'm not much into trains, so that would have passed me by. However, with that knowledge I will be able to build something in the future probably. Otherwise, I like how this looks. But again, I'm not a train builder, so I can't attest to the proper look.
  25. Pretty neat additions. I like the tree house. I'd almost want to make it shorter to line up better with the window, but I can't remember how it looks compared to the house. I haven't watched that show in so long. I like that you can still open it up. That helps. I can't wait to pick mine up. But I'm afraid it is down the list a bit.
