  1. So you get a free LEGO store figure in January, then a Hoth Han figure in Feb, and a BAM box in March??
  2. Those look intense. I wouldn't mind doing something LEGO related for Halloween, but I don't have the time or energy to put together a costume. Looks like you had fun, that's all that matters.
  3. I haven't seen my lotr figures wearing out, but I've had some marvel super heroes and star wars figures break. I had to jump through a few hoops to get anything replaced. You can try, but licensed sets make it difficult (and that's all I buy)
  4. Sold out seems to mean retired. Backorder seems to go either way. Exo suit was backordered, and two months later they told me they weren't going to make any more. So take that as you will. One would imagine pet shop to not last much longer though. Didn't it comes out in 2011? That's pushing it by most exclusives standards.
  5. FB was my first and it doesn't disappoint. But, I have zero interest in fire themed sets otherwise. I just liked it for what it was. A large, detailed building. It just happened to represent a firestation.
  6. Very nicely done. I like the build. I'll never understand how the angled roof is built. I've seen that before in other MOCs and I have no idea how to do it. Any tips? I've been wanting to make a better Hagrid's Hut, so I could use that concept, plus the rounded stone walls (which I'm not good at building either). Keep up the good work!
  7. Very creative!
  8. Very nicely done. I have never been interested in that style of house, but I have also never experienced that city, so methinks my mind will change eventually. (I've never been out of the USA). With that said, you did a great job here. Also, I like the history lesson. I can appreciate that style more now. I never understand why they were built like that.
  9. Very well done. It looks like a completely different building. I like the Americanized version of the FB, however, I really like this too. I may consider copying what you did here, but not make it into a fire station and take out the bays on the bottom and come up with another type of floorplan. Maybe a store of some kind. Keep up the good work. I like it very much.
  10. Did FB sell the best because of its length of availability or because of the desire of the set itself? Wasn't it available a lot longer than any other modular to date. With that said, I can easily believe that the modulars keep selling well and continue to uptick, with all of the newcomers and older fans that want to keep the collection growing. Again, with that said, one would assume a 2 year lifespan would be planned from the start. As in, maybe they produce enough to cover a certain stretch of time, evaluate the sales and see if they want/need to do other production runs. Obviously some sets get backordered and more need to be produced, but it might be possible (although probably not practical) to think that a brand new 2014 modular would retire within that year timeframe if it was popular enough. One would simply think they'd produce more within the first 2 year window (or whatever time projection they had planned). I have no business knowledge, but I am just assuming things here.
  11. Didn't the small LOTR Wizard Battle set have one too? But I still like that LEGO is getting them out there. And hey, if you still don't have one of those sets they come packaged in, you can always buy one for the low low price of $2.95 from S@H.
  12. So it seems the author states an adult cannot enjoy building with LEGO and therefore should be nowhere near them. Also, it states that let your kids build with them, but you should go do something else. Now for the people who have children also interested in LEGO, why wouldn't I want to spend time with my child doing something we both enjoy? I don't want to read a book and drink coffe (I enjoy reading, but I don't like coffee). I'd rather build/play with my daughter. I'd rather connect to my inner child at times after a stressful day in "the real world." You sir, put down your laptop and start writing something worth reading. And it's LEGO, not legos btw. Do some research author guy.
  13. Very well done. The build seems interesting with some good part usage and colors. I have never seen Zorro in any depiction, so this is all new to me. However, I still struggle with people posting these large builds on IDEAS considering I don't see it as a feasible option to release something large and detailed. They are going to want to not limit themselves in selling them on their small batches. Look at how well the cheaper sets have sold so far.. Either way, best of luck. This next review period should tell us a lot about larger build success.
  14. sahidko - very nice! Although I purchased those same helmets only in a flat silver color for the CMF Elf and I felt they wouldn't come off the LEGO head very easily. I was not pleased with the quality. I don't love the shape of them either, but they are the best option as of right now. That is an impressive golden Elf army for sure. I only have a couple so far.
  15. You always think you have plenty of time to snag these larger sets, until you realize how old some of them actually are! Pet Shop is now 3 years old. Town Hall is 2 years old. VW Van 3 years, Sopwith Camel 2 years. Kingdoms Joust 2 years. Arkham Asylum almost 2 years. Although a problem is The UCS Tumbler has been out of stock since it came listed. Not backordered, just temporarily out of stock. I definitely want one, but if they quit making them that quickly then LEGO should look into other sets with that type of appeal. So no wonder a lot of sets will be retiring this year, including Modular buildings. Double points seems to clear out a lot of inventory. I wanted to order more this year for double points, but just didn't have the budget to do so.
  16. I didn't realize this was that old of a topic... Anyway, it is interesting how certain themes will have weapons and others won't. LEGO Movie was in itself a licensed theme technically and the robots had guns and missiles. I guess it is a very slippery slope considering Ninjago has swords (which are still a very real and dangerous weapon), while City doesn't have guns. Basically every theme outside of Friends and a lot of the Creator sets have weapons, whether they are modern day weapons or not is beside the point.
  17. Nicely done. The angled roof is a neat touch. I haven't ever been to a bus stop, as weird as that may be, so I wouldn't expect something of this grand scale. I've only seen benches with a sign that says Bus... hah The small restroom is fitting and it seems roomy enough for times like this. The power pole works well too.
  18. I threw away all of my codes since I don't play the game..sorry. Otherwise I'd have those for you. And I know the feel method "may" damage some things, but it definitely doesn't damage a good portion of the figure quality. It comes from the factory in lower qualities than they used to be. I did read numerous times that LEGO changed the way they color things, meaning the plastic in general is different (and by different I mean, more transparent and most likely cheaper). It is a shame. I know some people believe TLG poops out gold, but they definitely have some nuggets of poor quality.
  19. ^Both are neat. I still haven't built my Sopwith Camel, but the VW is very neat. A lot of clever techniques. I'm not normally a vehicle builder, so it impressed me. To others, it might not be as big of a deal. But I liked all of the techniques and details they put into it. When I'm torn on a big set, I watch the design videos. It usually gives me some insight into how they are.
  20. I agree, that added tower is a nice touch. Although I think I would have built it in white to correlate with the upper builds of the original design. I've been meaning to add to my Rivendell set and I could see myself adding in a tower similar to that.
  21. I was expecting a Halloween version of the Emerald Night also... I was thinking Monster Fighters hybrid with Emerald Night... haha
  22. So far at 2 Targets near me I've seen the Witch King Battle and Lake Town. Nothing at Wal-Mart yet and TRU might have had the BO5A set, but I don't remember. But I do know there was nothing else Middle Earth related in the LEGO aisle. I found that odd. I just don't think stores have received much stock, probably from the waning interest in the theme. It does seem silly to release the sets that much earlier than the actual movie, it'll be like Lone Ranger all over again...but maybe that will be a good thing for people wanting deals. Bad thing for people wanting future sets.
  23. I never shop at TRU, but for that polybag I may make an exception. I stopped in there to return some things my mom purchased there (I found them cheaper elsewhere) and it seemed a lot of the new LEGO was MSRP, but all of the older sets 6+ months were marked up their usual amount. I found that interesting. You'd think mark up the new sets since you put them out early usually, then keep the rest MSRP, but I guess I'm not business savvy enough to run TRU...
  24. I believe the idea is include one in a lot of sets because not every person is going to buy every set with one in it. So for people like you who have too many, it shows you are buying a lot of sets. It isn't LEGO's fault you have an addiction. Or is it? I have close to 20 or more, but I like having a lot because I can't always find them. So I look around and find another one, or another one. It actually is more feasible in my mind than annoying. If I had only one, I'd surely lose it. Since I have dozens, I can always find one. Plus, I've never had one before this new one, so I welcome them into my collection. If they become overwhelming, give them away, sell them, throw them away? All feasible options.
  25. ^That's a good idea. I think sorting depends on how someone builds. I tend to get inspired when looking through individual color tubs I have. I'll find other pieces of the same color that I could use or other things I didn't think of originally that I could find a use for. It isn't organized build and maybe that's why it takes me a while to do anything, but it's how my mind works. If everything was perfectly sorted, I'm sure I could adapt to it, but I think I need some clutter to stay focused as counter-productive as that sounds.
