  1. Here's a LOTR moc I made of the forges in Belegost, which was a huge Dwarve kingdom in Beleriand before it sank (long story). First and foremost this is the Moc I am most proud of so some feedback on how it looks would be awesome. Untitled by mlarbconnor, Here's an overall view. Untitled by mlarbconnor, A closeup of the front. Untitled by mlarbconnor, Closeup of the arch, and weapons rack. Untitled by mlarbconnor, One side. Untitled by mlarbconnor, The other side. The arch is loosely based on the one from the lonely mountain (although its certainly not the same). C&C would be absolutely awesome, thanks for viewing.
  2. The Elven cities of the Northwest burn. The Elven Queen has regrouped and entrenched on the Forest Keep. Assesing her remaining troops, she receives notice that the Emperor is marching with a huge army to meet the Dragon King, who is besieging the Human city of Der-Golad. Bringing forth three battalions of her best troops (those who remain anyway), she will ride with the Emperor and his allies to stop the Dragon King and his forces. Her daughter stays behind with the keep's garrison and Eagles. Im finished building the elves and dwarves. I'm building two more batallions of Emperor's troops and a few Goblin Kings to use as shock troops for the Dragon King's army (11 in total plus 2 dragons).
  3. Next part of the fall of Arnor in the Ettenmoors campaign. An Arnorian patrol ship was brought over to fight the hordes of Agmar in the deepest areas of the swamp. The crew never expected something as terrifying as this... Untitled by mlarbconnor, on Flickr Overall view. Untitled by mlarbconnor, on Flickr A huge swamp wyrm shoots out of the water to attack the ship. Untitled by mlarbconnor, on Flickr A group of terrible specters. Untitled by mlarbconnor, on Flickr The front of the ship and the small catapult mounted on the bow. Untitled by mlarbconnor, on Flickr The back of the boat. C&C appreciated, thanks.
  4. Whilst the war rages in the North, in the western lowlands, in the middle of nowhere, the Crossroads Inn is always open for weary travelers. The Innkeeper, his wife and wife's sisters will receive all who come for rest, food and if they bring enough gold or gems, top notch weapons. The Innkeeper, a master smith, has his shoppe behind the Inn, whilst the open air armory, eatig tables and coziness of the hostesses invite everyone who can afford a good nights rest, a hearty meal, a razor sharp souvenir and a merry good time. Since I run on a very tight budget, I paint my bricks gray (airspray). Hope you like it. 5. Hi everyone! This would be my first post although I've been reading this forum for years now. It's not as complex as some of the other MOCs I've seen here and my photography skills are not that great so I will have to learn from this post and try to make it better next time. Inspired by some of the works I've seen here and by the new Lego hulk buster armor I decided to take a shot at "The Balrog of Moria". As many here, I was quite disappointed that the Lego LOTR series wasn't continued and I wished Lego had made a proper set of the Balrog... but well it gave me an excuse to try my hand at MOCing (after so many years). Some of the pieces should be replaced once I get them in the proper colors, and I left some grey so that the figure wouldn't look so plain as I find happens sometimes when the design is monochrome. I decided not to try to make wings (I only have one pair of the black dragon wings and they are on my Fellbeast...) but instead just go for the general profile they should give. The fire on its back is a little random, I may just adjust it later, but for now I am quite please with how it turned out. I hope you guys enjoy it and leave me some comments! I will certainly try to learn from this experience and hope to post some more MOCs in the future. DSC_0114 by arqangelx1, on Flickr I am new to posting stuff on forums, so I hope the images can show what I tried to make. You can see more at my Flick or ask for any other images! Thanks all enjoy!
  6. In the northern plains beyond the elven cities, lies the human city-stronghold of Der Golad. Ruled by its wise king, the city serves as a human enclave in the north and as protection against the evil schemes and machinations of the Dragon King and his henchmen. The king, blood related to the mighty Emperor, has witnessed the utter destruction of the elven cities by the Dragon King and his monstrous army, who has steamrolled thru all that opposes him, aided by fearless armored uruks, giant trolls, dragons and evil potentate warlocks. Sending word to the Emperor, the people of Der Golad prepare for the great siege that will come as part of the Dragon King's campaign to ensnare the North into his power. But Der Golad's walls are impregnable, they possess the finest archers of the north, and every citizen has taken arms to defend their city and livelihood. A mercenary company, led by Kara the Amazon and Rustius have come forth to fight for the King of Der Golad, albeit for the right price. Time is running short, and allies are in scattered in the wind. 8. LUG Brasil was invited to display some Middle Earth LEGO at an Anime convention in Rio de Janeiro. Due to space constraints we had to combine Hobbit and LOTR in a single layout, which proved a bit challenging for the geography/chronology freak in me. Not sure whether to tag this as a MOD or a MOC, because the landscape is a MOC but most of the actual builds are MODs or even original sets. Anyway, here is how it turned out. The left side is intended to represent the Battle of Five Armies from The Hobbit, while the right side is the Battle of Helm's Deep, from The Lord of The Rings. Bag End and the major characters' minifigs were also included upfront, just because people love them so much. This was a last-minute decision, but really helped attract people to our table and was probably the most photographed part of the layout. Hobbit + LOTR @ Anime Wings by preuss, on Flickr For the Hobbit side, I've built a mountain to better display the Dol Guldur sets - there are 2x 79014, 5x 79011, 2x 79001 and 1x 79015 scattered over there. In front of that, there is a Mirkwood Elf outpost made of 5x 79012 and 1x 79004 next to a mixed Lake Town / Dale made of 2x 79017, one 79013, one modded 79016 and the guards from 32x 30216. Some of the polybags' builds were modded into the little catapult boats. There's also a 79002 somewhere to help with the scenery. On the LOTR side, there is a 9474 on steroids (I essentially increased the tower, raised the terrain and did some landscaping around it) 2x 9471 and the mandatory 10237, plus an extra Ent and half of a 9476. The Isengard area ended up looking pretty poor due to bad planning on my part - if only I hadn't left the rest of the 9474s at home, it would have looked much better. Please let me know what you think. This was my first public LEGO display and I'd love to know how it could be improved. I've already learned a lot of DON'Ts while unsuccessfully trying to transport parts of this one to an out-of-state expo, so any tips to help moving big landscapes would be greatly appreciated as well. Best, Julio
  9. I have used 3 sets plus some extra bits to expand the Tower. I never like the open back models of buildings, so I added a back wall and prepared the set to hinge open on most levels, to gain access to the play features. I need a lot more flat black plates to make this work properly, so for now the model is static. While the model is substantially different to the original I have tried to retain the same styling. The original set we have is the equivalent of 102 feet tall, using a minifig as equivalent to 6 feet tall. The height of my model has risen to about 104cm, which is still only equivalent to 148 feet. 104/4.2 = 24.76 x 6 = 148 feet. Which is still only 1/3 of the height it should be I do not think the lego could support the weight of the 3.5m model that would be required for a proper Tower 500 feet tall .... My table would probably collapse anyway and I might have to remove my ceiling to build that. The final height of my model will be about 106cm. This is still a work in progress, This stage was mainly getting the Structure into shape. The interiors will be finalised during the next phase of the build. Which may take quite some time. First the double depth base which is also a few bricks taller than the original With a bit of the interior Then the Palantir Room, I have left the second light brick in place. I will build a table or statue to house this second light brick, which will light up the chandaliers on the Entrance floor. I like having the second window and balcony, but might replace it with walling to move back towards the tower from the book. Above the Palantir Room is the laboratory or Bomb making room, there are three versions of the bomb inside. Not very sensible, so this will move into the basement. At the top of this laboratory is Sarumans' Library, which is behind the sloping walls, although this is not shown well. I put the Armoury above the library, with some Uruks checking the new gear. Again this does not really make much sense, so I will move this down to the basement. So this armoury level may become Sarumans' bedroom. Above the armoury is the Great Observatory. I have made a Refracting Telescope or as the Uruks call it "The Magic Distance Viewer". Saruman keeps the Palantir as his own secret. The final part above the teeth spikes is an unused room This could be Sarumans Lego room or maybe where he stores some of his technology? and then there is the spire with Gandalf held prisoner on the open platform at the top of the Tower. Putting it together 1, 2, 3. Finally the the new tower and the view from the ground. If you have any positive suggestions they will be welcome. Beyond that I look forward to the Lego Ideas producing a Minas Tirith set.

  12. Hi All, This is a small build I did for a LUG build competition. The competition was to do a 16x16 build with crossed themes. This is the first build I've done using the Elves figs (I've got some sets for the parts). Thanks
  13. Hi all, this is my first MOC of the Lord of the Rings theme. It needed a lot of work and I'm quite proud of it. I built it starting from the original set and taking inspiration from different mocs that i found on web. Hope you like it!
  14. I had designed my LegoIDEAS Orc War Boar for... erm well for Orcs... (Yes the clue's in the name!) but I had also took a few quick shots to see if it worked with a Dwarf riding it instead. Anyway, let me know what you think and if you like it then please support the updated IDEAS... especially if you want to help inspire and show TLG that there is still a market and a desire for castle / medieval / fantasy themes and sets from the community out there. http://ideas.lego.co...132944/updates
  15. Hello. The Gray Havens Series I have created a series of MOCs to go along with my swan ship, hence creating the perfect environment to reproduce the fabled Gray Havens from Tolkien's Universe. Now I have release in https://ideas.lego.com/projects/84919 a new part of the great city - feel free to support :) The elven swan fountain Remeber this? https://ideas.lego.com/projects/51716 They go along in a greater MOC I will present later on. Hope you like it. Leave your feedback and opinions. I really appreciate them and help me improve my skills. Thanks for the help.
  16. I made a modular Rivendell in currently 5 Parts. You can change and combine every part with another. It has more than 13,000 pieces. There are 24 minifigures (11 she-elves), 4 statues and 2 light gray horses. Plaese take a look on my projects and support them. I have also made some more from Middle-earth: The Hobbit - The house of the Master of Laketown (updated!) The Hobbit - Halls of Thranduil The Hobbit - Dale LOTR - The Prancing Pony LOTR - Barad-dûr Ultimate Collector's Set LOTR - Minas Morgul (updated!) LOTR - The Tower of Cirith Ungol LOTR - Doors of Durin You can also visit me on flickr.
  17. Hi, I'm Anduin1710 and I'm an AFOL from Germany. I was born in East Berlin, this means to get a little LEGO set was always like birthday, x-mas and eastern together! And Lego was always very expensive too. ... I started to buy and collecting Lego, since I found the Lego Minifiures Series 2. I'm very interessed in history, so I found the historical minifigures pritty cool. I like Star Wars too, so I stared to buy some Lego Star Wars sets. I found the Lego Digital Designer to creat my own MOCs on my computer. I'm a big THE LORD OF THE RINGS fan, so I started to build my own LOTR sets. And with the Lego LOTR and THE HOBBIT sets my dream come true. In April 2014 I joined Lego cuusoo (now it is lego ideas) to publish my creations. Here are my projects: You can also visit me on flickr. Thank you for your attention.

  19. I hope that you may enjoy this MOC. For the Christchurch Brick Show 2014 I build an accurate Topographical LEGO Map of Middle Earth. I measures 2×2 meters and consists of 7 levels. It took approximately 30.000 bricks and four months to build the map. All the main characters of both books are presented on the map as minifigures. Even the path of the ring is illustrated through a breadcrumb style line of golden 1×1 round bricks. The map is accurate as much as a map of a fantastic land can be. I heavily consulted The Atlas of Middle-Earth by Karen Wynn Fonstad. This project was made possible through a strategic grant of LUG 4/2. I also created an album at Flickr and a webpage for this MOC.
  20. I haven't posted many MOCs here lately because I've been a bit busy with this guy. I spent about two months designing designing things on paper (literally, I play with Lego to get away from computers so I rarely do much with LDD or MLCad) and about eight months building and rebuilding the model itself. The tower stands a bit over four feet tall from base to crown and is made from a ridiculous number of small parts for something that weighs about as much as a teenager. There's a six foot strand of LED christmas lights in the lava moat at the base to try to break up the black a bit, but other than that, everything else is pure factory issues Lego. I still consider this a work in progress as: a) I haven't come up with a good solution for the Eye of Sauron despite having built several dozen at this point (bricks, cones, flames, helmet plumes, radar dishes - still haven't the right look yet) b) There's still work to be done on the base (outer guard towers, flume delivering molten rock to the lava moat etc.) c) I really need to learn how to photograph big black, highly detailed ABS surfaces. This thing is way too big for my light box and I've yet to take a photo of it that does it justice. The base is about 2 feet by 3 feet and the lower ramparts are a system of concentric rings tied together by radial walls. It's nominally hollow, but there's a lot of internal buttressing, arches, and technic structure buried inside to support the weight of the upper tiers. If you're curious, I have a few more photos (of equally poor quality) over on MOC pages I welcome all comments, questions and suggestions as to how best to finish and photograph this beast (particularly if you have any great insights in to the design of a 10 stud diameter Eye of Sauron that doesn't look cheesy). Thanks for stopping by.

  22. Hi everyone, Speculations are coming whether there will be a next wave of LOTR sets this year ot not, since there are no sign of them. There are several scenes/caracters that we miss so much! The most iconic is – at least for me – Minas Tirith! I dared to design something, that could be released as an official sets. I tried to think with TLG’s head, regarding piece and minifig count and playability. This is what I came up with: The whole set with Minas Tirith gate, Grond, the tower with the signaling fire with some minifigs. The Grond from a closer view. The ram itself is hanged on chains, so you can swing it, when you try to break the gate. Because you can break the gate! You can see two technic bars at the two side of the gate. [1st picture] If you remove them, the gate can be pushed back from forward, imitating the siege, when the Wolf’s head crashes the gate. The rear view. The gate can be closed. I admit, I run out of steam with the furniture, so it’s a little empty. That was not my main point. :) The minifigs: Rear row: Two orcs in battle armor, Gothmog and a Cave Troll. First row. Pippin in Minas Tirith Guard outfit, Gandalf the white and two Gondorian soldiers. Disclaimer: I used the parts that are available in LDD so I had to live with its limitations. No proper LOTR troll mold and no new molds of course (For Gothmog’s head for instance). And the whole model is a compressed version of part of the city, but it is not unusual in official LEGO sets. The tower with the fire is not so close to the gate, but I wanted to add as many play feature as possible. The Citadel was left out though. I don't think it could be built together with the gate without making the city to small. Yes, there is a ballista. Remember, think like TLG.
  23. Hello guys, I would like to share few picture of the current stage of my Helm's deep. It's still missing the rock formation on the left and also the amount of Uruks isn't sufficient yet. I've also found out that i am not a good MOCker so don't be too cricital. :) Anyway here we go: Thanks for your attention!

It is almost sure that LEGO The Lord of the Rings is over. To most of us the line feels incomplete with the lack of several important characters (like the Witch-King, Eowyn, Sauron and Faramir), factions (especially Gondor), buildings (mainly Minas Tirith) and creatures (like the Balrog, Treebeard and mountain trolls). Many of us feel that this theme needs just one wave to 'complete' the LEGO Lord of the Rings. Even only one set, which is preferably set in Gondor, could solve most of our problems. For example, you can make a Battle of the Pelennor Fields as big as you want (depicting several stages of the battle and the preceding events) with the Witch-King on fell beast, Éowyn, wounded Faramir, Gondor soldiers, a mountain troll, a piece of Minas Tirith, etc. To raise awareness I would like to start a petition to let LEGO know that we care. I know some of you think this will not matter, but maybe it will. If we get enough support maybe we can at least get an official statement from TLG that LEGO LotR is over and why. I am working on the format right now, but to make this a strong statement I could use your help. Thank you very much for your help.
