I'm with lots of other people, it all depends on the price. If it is $200, it will be a good deal and I will get it. Above that, it may be on my list but it doesn't mean I will ever get it. Ewok Village looks nice too, but I have a hard time swallowing that price. Maybe if I can find this without the minifigures, it might be worth it to me.

^I guess I've never seen sand blue on a PAB wall. I've only been to a handful of stores within the last 6 months though, but they had terrible piece selection.

I know I haven't been a super active member for GoH due to time. I was curious, what exactly are the guild sigils? I know the guild colors, which would work well for being incorporated. But what exactly are the sigils? I've seen different people use different sigils for different guilds, but sometimes there isn't consistency, so I thought I would ask.

I didn't even notice arm printing at first. Probably too detailed. Pretty soon they won't blend in with the rest of the line.

I originally wasn't interested. The final result does look good. It won't be at the top of my list, but I will put it on my want list. The ship itself looks good. I did pick up the earlier version, but only because I found it for over 50% off. I'll have to look to see how different the figures actually look to justify that part. I may just look for the set without the figures.

It seems sand blue is quite the trend now. I actually had most pieces available. Only had one small order for some extra sand blue pieces via bricklink. I printed off the inventory and went through my collection and figured out what I was planning on changing before I ordered anything. I'd say I spent less than $75 for sure on cc and sand blue grocer. I definitely agree, wait for good sale prices.

That's a neat looking castle. I hadn't seen that before. I recently started building a castle too. I did want to incorporate a different shape or angled walls or something, I ended up keeping it fairly square only since it is my first castle. I'll start off slow and work my way up to more advanced techniques. I also have little time to actually build, so I don't have time to tinker with different angles or shapes. Best of luck to you on your castle.

Good idea. I should look into this also. I always wondered what to do to prove you have these sets...why yes, Insurance company, I do have 20 copies of Cafe Corner But seriously, how do you "prove" anything? That is my concern. I do have a lot of older sets and expensive figures and whatnot.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 12 Rumours and Discussion
TheLegoDr replied to Rufus's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Exactly. Cheaper is better. LEGO has to make money, but it can be tough to swallow with it going up double over the span of the series. They are putting out some neat figures and part of me wants to "get them all" but another part really only wants to pick up the few that REALLY interest to me to save money. 2015 is going to be expensive enough as far as I can tell.- 1,109 replies

That exclusive holiday set is neat. Yay for more torso re-uses But I do like the holiday sets. So it looks like I'll have to purchase something in October after all. And then again on Brick Friday to get the other exclusive. That toy soldier is pretty neat looking. I hadn't thought to do that before. Is that SNOT brick new in red? I guess I hadn't looked before.

2010 HP LEGO is what brought me out of my dark ages. If that says anything. The movies were fun. I liked the story. I'd love to see more sets/figures. They might renew a license when the new spin off comes out, but I don't know how they could do that justice. I don't know how they are going to do the movie at all. Has anyone read the book? It is literally an encyclopedia on mythical creatures.

LEGO Ideas Discussion
TheLegoDr replied to The Real Indiana Jones's topic in General LEGO Discussion
^And you add in people like me who care zero amount about Dr Who, but if the set is done right, I will pick it up. I didn't care for the Exo-Suit, but I still picked one up for some reason... -
Do you always try to have a backlog of sets to build?
TheLegoDr replied to BirdOPrey5's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I have a handful of sets waiting to be built (that I actually want to build). I also have a handful of sets that I bought only for the figures and are just sitting there in their box. I don't have interest to build them, nor do I have interest in piecing them out into my collection only because I needed/wanted a few select pieces. Take Gungan Sub for example. I don't have use for most of those pieces and I really only wanted Queen Amidala but at the time she was going for almost as much as I got the set, so I just picked the whole thing up. -
^Nice picture. I've seen these before. A member of my LUG likes them and bought a whole bunch on bricklink. I have no intention of buying any, but it is neat seeing smaller built things. I guess originally they were packaged with an exact-o knife to cut to fit. It helped the designers make their project easier. I think they had 5 long bricks too. Sometimes I wish LEGO had that.

Material required for selling on eBay
TheLegoDr replied to kinggregus's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Recycled is good. Re-used can be good. We try to always re-use the air bubbles we get from Amazon and whatnot. Packing peanuts are horrible, but I can appreciate the re-use of them. They must work since people use them (or are they cheap?) Free shipping is an interesting concept. I think the problem many have with that idea is they expect the auction to go for less, so if you build shipping into the final price and have free shipping, it might go for higher than they expected (even if it is the same as a lower auction price plus shipping). Something about the mentality of a final value and how it appears. -
Sad face... Is there any other words to use regarding how LEGO handled this license? Maybe it was the license holders call on everything, BUT they must not want to make money either... It hurts more playing the LEGO game and seeing some of these people, but never seeing them in LEGO form in real life. Isn't there a really good customizer out there that is willing to make some of these. Granted, the expense would be high, but having at least ONE really good Witch King and Faramir and Gondor soldier would be better than none...(I realize there are a lot more figures I'd love to see in LEGO form, but I only listed a few).

This could be interesting. I like the idea of new colors/pieces that can be used elsewhere. I'm hoping for some good looking elf hairpeices, but they will probably be too girly for LOTR-esque figures. I'd assume wings would either be like the Bumblebee Girl mold (only suited for minidoll bodies) OR they will use plastic like the Geonosians.

It's nice to see it finished. I was unaware of the scale! I can't even imagine the number of bricks or the cost associated with this build. My MOCs have been very cheap...kudos to you. I like the details. There is a lot going on here.

I actually really like this set. The height makes sense, but I'd want it to be a little shorter. I like the dark orange color for sure. I don't like that you can't open the front doors fully though. And as nice as the atrium is inside, it feels like a lot of wasted space that I could flesh out to put more rooms in there. I have an idea to rebuild mine into a different shape and not the usual 64 wide that a lot of people have done. I just need to actually order pieces for it. I already have blueprints drawn up. And Off the Wall - why don't you sell the minifigures. Recoup some costs. I know I could use some extras of the classic smiley people for my Modular layout.

Marvel Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussion
TheLegoDr replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
I'd much prefer cheaper sets with more exclusive figures. Like many, I don't want to spend ALL of my money on one theme. If prices are lower, more people will be able to purchase them and that means larger revenue overall for LEGO. If they sell a few of the more expensive sets great, but if they sell more of the cheaper sets, it could benefit them greatly. -
So I'm confused. Are all of these people dwarves? They can't be tall. That's the definition of a dwarf. They wouldn't have ever came up with a different nomenclature for a person of shorter stature then.
-
Neat idea. I actually was considering doing a dark green and reddish brown timbered house. Good to see how it could look. I wasn't sure on how the colors would look together. I like the window idea. I may have to borrow the idea of having them covered like that. I like the farm as a whole. And I love the chimney design and the smoke billowing out. I think I've seen that before, but it looks good in the dark bley.

The statue placement and mosaic behind it are amazing. Patience! I need to practice some. I am building a castle right now. I should do something like this with the floor to mix it up a bit.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 12 Rumours and Discussion
TheLegoDr replied to Rufus's topic in Special LEGO Themes
It is a surprisingly good set. I definitely want about 11 for sure. I will end up buying the full line just because, but I actually like 11 which is odd compared to most series.- 1,109 replies

LEGO Architecture 2015 News & Discussion
TheLegoDr replied to tafkatb's topic in Special LEGO Themes
^That looks good. I've been meaning to build my own micro Lincoln memorial, but I have too many other projects ahead of it. If the official set looks decent enough, I'll just pick that up instead of my own creation.
