  1. I'm amazed people are still discussing this.. I am saddened because I'd love more and there is so much LEGO could do with this license, but they failed. LEGO tends to do that these days. As far as everything stated, I will agree. Pirate ship and Rivendell are neat on their own, but I'd love to have them later after we got other sets OR if they would have used them when they did, but still intended to give us something more later on. But that isn't the case, unfortunately. I actually really like Rivendell set. I don't care too much for the Pirate ship set, even though I love pirate ships!! But then again I'm not the target audience, so maybe other ship builders loved that set?? I understand their justification of using that set when they did, but I don't think it worked out too well for them in reality. Leave the pirate ship sets to the pirates theme and we will be all set. I'd love Eowyn also. But boys don't want to play with girl minifigures, icky... Next up, mini-dolls versions of Arwen and Eowyn. That'll be perfect.
  2. I actually took one of my extras and sharpied his head and chest and swapped hands. It's amazing how easy it is to turn licensed skin tone into official looking yellow skin. If only it was easy to "bleach" them to licensed skin tone.
  3. The stud shooter from Star Wars is acceptable, but its use in Agents isn't? I realize "space guns" aren't realistic so they are somehow allowed and modern weaponry wouldn't be allowed because kids could conceivably use it if they got their hands on something, but I still don't follow how LEGO thinks space and medieval weapons are okay but modern weapons aren't. To me, violence is violence. I love(d) castle/pirates as a kid and as an adult, and I was completely aware of fantasy vs reality, but looking back I don't see how LEGO justifies their policy and what they choose to follow. But I guess that is typical with any company or individual...
  4. I like the prices of a lot of sets next year..which is the problem. Maybe LEGO finally realized more moderately priced sets will sell more over the long run instead of fewer more expensive sets...
  5. Considering average bricklink values individually add up to over $200 without shipping, I'd say $100 is the steal of a century. I do want all of those ewoks, but I can't afford even the amazing deal of $100 right now. You'll have no problem selling them, especially Leia, Luke, and the ewoks. Even the R2 unit goes for 13 because of the new head printing.
  6. Poor Robin. He never gets any love. My daughter and I watched LEGO DC Super Heroes Unite the other day. It was an entertaining enough watch. I do like how much Disdain Batman has for Superman. Makes me wonder why he even has Robin as a sidekick...Robin becomes the damsel in distress. very odd. As far as the sets go, definitely worth picking up for the new figures. The prices are good for the most part. Worth it for the figures and I'm glad to see Supergirl will be cheap, unlike Batgirl last year! It's hard to get two of each figure, one for my collection and one for my daughter to play with.
  7. And throw in a James Woods for good measure? One would imagine they'd include Snake also.
  8. I thought it was an obvious joke alluding to Mouth of Sauron AND Pirate Ship Ambush. I guess both of them were from extended versions? I haven't seen the unextended versions, so I was unaware of their exclusion. Maybe the LEGO developers only saw the extended versions too?? I'm sure it is possible.
  9. This building works really well for larger scaled school. Good job there. It looks great. I'd consider doing this, but my daughter got bored with the school pretty quickly. She prefers my pirate ships more... Keep up the good work.
  10. Who will be first to do a pink grocer?? Heartlake City needs it! I hadn't noticed those before. I think tan will be useful for me, so I'll have to look into that whenever they are added to the inventory page.
  11. Very nicely done. One problem I have white facades is what to pair it with. This IMO is too much white. I like the overall detail and shaping of everything, but I wonder what other colors may accent it well. I've also considered doing this very thing, which is funny. There is a shop in town that has a curved front window exactly like that and I have been wanting to make it into a Modular, but haven't gotten around to it yet. I've also considered doing a white building. I was thinking maybe some olive green or dark tan with it, but ultimately white plays well with others, so you have a lot of options. The stairstepped back facade is interesting. It works in this setting. I think what throws it off vs other modulars is the usage of the full baseplate on the back instead of leaving a little strip. I realize it is for the stairs and that is a neat idea, but it does throw off my eyes a bit I think. Do you have plans for an alleyway or anything to have other access to the rear steps? Otherwise, good job. I can't wait to see more from you.
  12. Well Exo-Suit also sold out within the first few days. I ordered mine on day ONE and it was backordered and they sat on it for two months before telling me they aren't producing anymore. So for whatever that's worth. They do limited runs on the IDEAS sets, so I assume they weighed another production run vs other sets they plan on producing this year and saw it as not as big of a money maker.
  13. I call shenanigans on that. I've contacted LEGO customer service about faulty CMF either items being damaged (probably from the feel method) or printing off and once on items not having clutch power and they said I'm sorry but we don't replace any of those. LEGO customer service really is hit and miss and dependent on who you talk to. That is unfortunate.
  14. Neat idea, but to me guns seem out of place for the period. It'd be better to have bows, but instead of arrows have wands with a soft blunt end that are covered in paint. That'd be funny. But good idea. Good luck.
  15. No wonder we never got Thrain, everyone knows LEGO would never produce a set based on an Extended Edition of a movie...oh wait...
  16. ^That's the interesting thing though, I have only seen the extended versions, so I didn't know there were parts missing compared to other people's viewing experiences. So seeing the Mouth of Sauron was quite neat. I don't particularly care for the Pirate Ship ambush, even though I know the scene. But I am glad we got the Oathbreakers. Council of Elrond is actually a neat little set. I like having Elrond, although having multiple of him now with the crown headpiece seems silly since it is hard to re-use them, but the torsos work quite well for other figures too.
  17. Very well done. I can easily picture this as a continuation of a larger MOC, which shows how well it works. I like the water effect and the angled barrels. Works very well. I like the foliage and the tree. I've considered building a tree similar to that trunk style, but never could make it work. I now see how simple it is and will try again in the future.
  18. There will always be new buyers that missed out on a retired set, so a modest bump in price might be acceptable to them. However, I agree with the length of time it has been on the market and the number of sets out there already (including the number of people who bought them early to invest in) would really dilute the buying pool. Which could be good news for the people who missed out or never got around to buying one. I don't own one, but it does look like a neat set. I priced it on bricklink in building it myself without the figures and it was still $250 or something crazy just in pieces alone. Since basically all of the figures have been remade, it doesn't add any uniqueness to appeal to the masses. I am a figure collector, but I prefer the best looking figures as opposed to older versions of licensed figures. Buying that set at $400 or higher (in my opinion) is a waste of money to me, so that's why I never bought in. I'd also recommend buying a different advanced build that may not be around for too long. Haunted House would have been a good investment. I think people will eat that up for years to come, but I think it is retired already.
  19. Well the Town Hall did come out in 2011 right? So it is conceivable to think it is on its way out, so they wouldn't list it in the catalogue since there aren't many copies left? Granted you still see Exo Suit being advertised everywhere and that isn't coming back, so who knows. Buy Town Hall when you can! I'm sure it won't be around much longer.
  20. One would imagine Hun would be a good army builder type. But I am surprised how many Huns were left in the store. I went back recently and the rack was picked clean, but there were a handful of pizza delivery guys, Huns, and wizards. I was hoping to find a second Warrior Goddess, but no such luck.
  21. As with all rumors, I believe them to be fake until proof arises. With that said, that list very well could be true. People who see images or get inside information tend to not know the exact names. Therefore, one that may "look" like an army man or bartender, may be something entirely different. I agree about the toy soldier type army man like in Toy Story, but I wonder if they would entertain that idea since they already released figures like that. (I never got any, so I'd love one). The bartender could be a soda jerk, as was stated, which goes along with what LEGO would produc. Just spitballing ideas here. I have no insider knowledge of anything LEGO related.
  22. They already tried that years ago with classic sets and they sold horribly. I doubt LEGO will be willing to try again. Some designers have even said they will not do it in the future solely for the reason of having new exciting products on the market instead of older products they already designed and sold. Which would sell better on a grander scale: a re-issue of something old or a brand new exciting set with new designs, figures, pieces, etc? As a whole, the new set will sell leaps and bounds better than the previous. As far as GE, the repetitiveness can be boring, but I think the final result is worth it. It looks exactly like the source material they were going for. I actually really like Town Hall also. Even PC has grown on me. Market Street is the only one not worth it (in my opinion). But if you don't like repetitiveness, don't build Tower Bridge...over 4000 pieces with two identical towers...haha
  23. Or they are unloading the big ticket items in time for the holiday season..I'm sure they get a nice spike this time of year with the double points too.
  24. ^Pictures of the mirror build? I'm always interested in seeing how those turn out. I like the official set. I am one behind still so I'll pick it up in due time. I do wish it was larger. I like the amount of details involved, but the size seems weird with that patio dining area. But I also happen to really like that patio dining area. Funny how that works. I think maybe I'll mod mine to have the patio enclosed there with no door (maybe a window). And have the juliet door become the official door with stairs leading up to that side. I'll figure it out whenever I pick it up.
