Lord of the Rings Ongoing Discussion

So.. Mumakil. What are the odds that this set includes Theoden, Eowyn and Whitch King? ;) Yeah, I thought that Whitch King and Eowyn belongs to the Minas Tirith set, and voilá! They are not there. And no orc eithet (if you dont count Grond GWP). And, its not just about new parts for Uruks. There would be new parts for Rohirim, possibly Aragorn (Anduril), Haldir etc… Based on previous sets, how many new molds did we get? In Minas Tirith, only helmets for soldiers and crown/hair mold for Aragorn. In Barad Dur? Sauron and his Mouth helmets and pack of orc helmets (and Gollum), in Shire? Nothing… so… -

2 elven soldiers in Helms Deep? Oh please... :D That requires a new mold for the helmet and new prints for torso and legs... I guess that we get Haldir at max. Regarding the Uruk-Hai, I am not sure whether they will be included...I would love to have them, but then again, new molds for helmets, new prints... So Theoden, Éomer, Éowyn in her dress, Aragorn, Gimli, Legolas, and a few soldiers of Rohan (like Gamling and 2 warriors) is the more realistic approach. I guess new Helmets for Théoden and Éomer, Gamling will be without helmet, and regular soldiers with viking helmet (reuse of already existing mold) with possible unique print...Aragorn in his traditional brown outfit, Gimli in chainmail (please!), and Legolas with his light armour. That's enough novelty based on experience with other LOTR sets... -

I hope Barad Dur will hold up at least till the end of next year. I want to pick it up eventually but not now, now its a Minas Tirith time :) -

Rohan is next almost for sure. But hardly Edoras… Helms Deep most probably. Edoras is harder to translate than Minas Tirith (if you dont want to do Meduseld only or a small portion of the Rohan capital…) -

Yeah, I had this direction in my mind as well… Some diorama with Witch King on Fell Beast, Theoden, Eowyn and Merry in rohan attite… Still I think that set like this would be at least for $150 at least. I cant see TLG making Meduseld or Wdoras in any sense. Only Rohan-themed set I can imagine is Helms Deep. There could be Eowyn as well in dress, and also Theoden in his kingly outfitt (as well as in the armored one). Other figures are tricky… few Rohan soldiers (how many depends on how big the set would be), but regardin Uruk Hai Iam not sure… -

So what are the odds that we get Pellenor fields battle next year? You know, with Witch King, Eowyn, etc.? 😉 -

Third I am afraid. At least for me, it seems Barad Dur is slightly better… -

There are quite enough figs since the build is more for display than play… Its focused almost exclusively on Gondor so absence of Orc and Rohan is understandable. And since you have no place to display showdown between Gandalf and Withch King, it make sense that he is not there as well… -

The GWP issue in general is pretty stupid. LEgo shouldnt lock these small sets or dioramas behind the FOMO and hour 1 buy. Even though I undesrtand their marketign and sales strategy, i consider this as a pretty pathetic from a company such as this one. -

I would have problem with this set ending the LOTR Icons line… There are plenty of scenes and locations for years to come…
