  1. This LEGO version of the famous double-deck AEC Routemaster bus (Wikipedia link if you care to read up on this famous bus type) is a mashup of 2019 Harry Potter set 75957 - Knight Bus, albeit scaled back a bit. This model required a bit of changes to the originally purple triple-deck bus... more than you might expect, actually! Sadly, the original three-studs-long windows aren't yet available in red, (even after all these years!) so I made do with different windows. The rear of the bus. The sand green 1x4 tiles are advertising billboards. Sadly, neither the roof nor second level come off to seat figs inside. The family of Buses is complete! From left to right with a link to each bus's own topic: Knight Bus (from Harry Potter films), Routemaster (you are here), Bertie the bus (from Thomas and Friends). Thoughts?
  2. Thank you! The boiler is as it is for several reasons: Any higher to match the firebox and it throws the (currently centered) smokebox door out of wack. Lower the firebox and it throws the cab out of scale. The real engines (LMS "Black Five" type) have tapered boilers that would solve this, but I can't do that here without stickers / cheating / a lot of modification. I have already ordered him, so that isn't feasible... not to mention I Don't generally make my builds that complex. Once again, thanks for your suggestions! Oh, and side note: Toby (and Henrietta!) may be coming at some point in the future. I've also got Trevor the traction engine on a flatcar already built in real life too... I just need to eventually take photos.
  3. First post updated with Henry, as seen below: To create Henry from Thomas and Friends TV show / The Railway Series books, I took set 76423 (Hogwarts Express and Hogsmeade Station) and modified it quite a bit. I revised the boiler design, added two plates to the cab height, devised working pistons, up-sized the front bogies' wheels, and changed around the tender a tiny amount. The rear of the tender, with a slight window into the cab details. NOTE: The 1980s wheels for the tender are missing, as are the four Big Ben Bricks XS wheels for the front bogie. Also missing are the printed 1x1 tiles saying "3" to be placed on the tender walls. Also, Henry was ordered two days ago, and should be finished IRL soon.
  4. You got it @The Brick Boss! I ordered him today after designing him yesterday. He's got the same basis as James, (set 76423, Hogwarts Express from this summer) except with working pistons, bigger boiler, enlarged cab, and taller tender. I reinstated the four wheel bogie at the front of the loco, but with the bigger wheels like James has. I had to change some things from that picture to order phase, but it's not too different... cosmetic stuff really. I hope you (and everyone else!) like him when he's done.... and something keeps ringing in my mind telling me he will not be the last engine I build.
  5. "Once, an engine attached to it's train, was afraid of a few drops of rain - It went through a tunnel, and squeaked through it's funnel, and never came out again." (I'll let you all guess who is next on the list to build...)
  6. I plan on displaying the Mantis next to my Magic School Bus MOC. (The name of the MSB episode is "The Magic School Bus Spins a Web", and is available free on Youtube.... I may have binge watched the entire series to make the MOC accurate.) The fictional B-movie even has a name, and according to my research, (Wikipedia) it was called "Stand By Your Mantis".
  7. Ok, show of hands: Who else is going to use the insects as giant versions for attacking towns, like old sci-fi B movies? (Think "THEM!" or "The Spider" or about two hundred other films I could name) For me, the Praying Mantis is too good an opportunity to pass up!
  8. Lego has an free app on Roku that I watch it on since Netflix booted me off my family's account. Sadly, there are commercials (So... many... commercials!) but it probably is available in Australia.
  9. They've also stated red was originally the Russian cosmonauts, with white being the American astronauts. This lore went out the airlock when other colors came about, however.
  10. As other have said, depends on what was made.
  11. Forget about the sailor being devoured, cooking the poor parrot is even worse!
  12. Studs Not On Top (SNOT) = building sideways. Could it possibly be a Lowell sphere?
  13. Yep. I personally build in a retro-official style, because I WANT my builds to look like Lego. Even some modern official sets can't say they look like Lego.
  14. Only Lego, Big Ben Bricks, and Bricktracks. (the latter two are train wheel makers)
  15. We are getting a space CMF? Awesome, I'll buy a few on Bricklink! But if it turns out to be Doctor Who instead, I might need to sell a kidney or two... especially as they just switched to blind boxes for CMF, with no way to feel the figures.
  16. I want, no NEED, a BTTF DeLorean in Speed Champion scale! (preferably one that is train track-compatible, if that's not too much to ask for.) ...That, or a accurate Mach 5 from the 1960's Speed Racer anime. It's been 15 years since the movie (and movie sets) flopped... I think it's safe to say the hatred has died down by now. ..right?
  17. Yes, he did. He made another topic in the ldd forum, and it was fixed there.
  18. Nice work, I love it! It certainly evokes Kings Cross. (or at least what I've seen in pictures or documentaries.)
  19. James and his train have (finally) been added to the first post! The only things missing from this scene are a pair of leather bootlaces... Thoughts?
  20. Excellent work! I especially love the puppets and Little John in the background... that and that fact you included Hiss! He isss truly a sssight to behold! (sorry, couldn't help myself ) Keep up the good work!
  21. I went up to my local LEGO store in St. Louis looking for the lights for a family member's Winter Village cable car to finish it off, and they said they never received them - from release of the light to now. Very strange, don't you think?
  22. Gordon is in disgrace, as he fell into a ditch trying to block the turntable. Sir Topham Hatt sent him to the sheds to think about how he can be really useful once more. ...In reality, the picture was big enough as it was, so adding the coaches to Gordon instead would have made it enormous because he's longer than James. Also, the coaches are stored with James in a box, so I naturally put them with the engine they are stored with. Side note: Gordon will not be built as I already have his almost-identical cousin The Flying Scotsman constructed, and I don't want two of the same thing. Sorry if this causes confusion and delay for anyone! Hope this answers your question @The Brick Boss!
  23. Anybody else excited for summer CREATOR sets? Personally, I want Main Street...
  24. Candidate for the G.O.A.T.S.* perhaps? Because no matter what the set looks like, people will buy it in triplicate for the goat alone. *Greatest Of All Time Set. (Yes, I know it's not grammatically correct, but who cares about that?)
  25. Thanks, but I didn't design it originally. @Chromeknight did in 2009 or so. I just modified the hell out of it. As seen from left to right, with characters behind the front row listed on the same line: - Diesel + Diesel 10 - James + four passenger coaches - Murdoch - Lady + her coaches - Percy + mail cars - Thomas + Annie and Clarabel - Gordon Only Gordon is not built in real life yet and I'm not sure I'll ever build him, to be honest. I also need to take pictures of James and his coaches once the last order arrives.
