  1. Yep. I'll bet they are doing really well right now...
  2. Agreed. I feel like I'm in withdrawal. ...I guess they don't call it Cracklink for no reason!
  3. I have decided to add in the 1938-built fourth car to the Pioneer Zephyr model's consist. My thought on the matter is that even though the real-world Zephyr doesn't have the extra coach while on display today, the train had the coach for most of it's operational life when it was running.... and it will help differentiate the model from @zephyr1934's spectacular three-car Pioneer Zephyr MOC from 2015. As it currently stands right now, the Lego Zephyr only has ~700 parts left to find or order, most of which you can see in the photo above. On a related note, since Bricklink has been recently unavailable (sadly due to the ongoing hacking / ransomware incident), the train will not be bought until the website eventually comes back online. Thoughts?
  4. Sadly, it will be a while longer now before it is finished, as I didn't order the parts before Bricklink got hacked... so now I have to wait until it comes back online to do so. As for revising the design: I am thinking about adding in the fourth car (a coach) from 1938, but I won't know how much that will bump up the price until Bricklink comes back. As for changing parts, it's as good as I can get it already. Thanks for commenting @Ashi Valkoinen!
  5. I think @Lego Nostalgia means the rumored modular Avengers tower. I could be wrong, though!
  6. Progress is being made on the Zephyr in the real world! It should be finished in late November, early December, if not earlier. I almost have enough gray wheels. (just one and a half short) Plus, I only ~580 parts left to go! Luckily, I have all the printed tiles I need already. Stay tuned for more updates in the coming weeks!
  7. thanks @Shiva! Sadly, the package is a week overdue, and tracking info updates stopped on the 27th at a city nowhere near me. It's either been stolen, lost, or destroyed at this point. I'm going to the post office Saturday to see what can be done.
  8. The Maltese Falcon and Casablanca are two of my favorite films. Having said that, I must say this as well to keep it (sort of) on topic: "The latest LEGO CMF has leaked.... round up the usual suspects!"
  9. I was thinking more alone the lines of The Maltese Falcon's Sam Spade, or any 1930's / '40s / '50s Black & White film noir detective film. The fig is in black and white after all, and Pink Panther is in color. (and it's a comedy, not film noir!)
  10. Well, it's a day late and a dollar short, but it's done! The main post has been edited to add the three real world pictures. Sadly, the ghost engineer I was making isn't going to be built, as his package got lost in the mail.
  11. January 6, 1957 - While most of his generation is watching Elvis Presley on the Ed Sullivan show in what will be his final time on the tv program, 19-year old Herbert Melville is climbing a light tower in the Hillview railroad yard with his camera. He hired on with the railroad nearly 6 months ago, and is up on the 100+ foot tall tower to change a lightbulb and to quickly take photos of the rail operations in the yard. Herbert is a major railfan, and when this opportunity presented itself to help document the end of steam, there was no way he was going without his camera! In this snowy picture from that night in early 1957, we see Great Northern 25 (an ex-Norfolk and Western loco fresh from a wreck rebuild), slowly pulling a freight past Tower 96 and out of the yard. In the background, number 7996, an brand-new ALCO cab and booster diesel unit set (owned by Brick Railway Systems) is moving backwards through the switches, heading for the diesel servicing facility. (In reality, the "Haunted Train 25" loco from the cartoon 'Hey Arnold!' is finished as of last Thursday, but lacks the parts for the ghostly engineer figure as they haven't shown up yet as the package is still AWOL. So I set the engine up on my layout, and wrote a fictional story about the scene. I hope you all like it!)
  12. That curator looks familiar... wait a second, I've seen him before: Dr. Kilroy is BACK! Now we just need an updated guy in a black top hat with a monocle and a hook... (I NEED that Kilroy head for my updated Adventurers!)
  13. First the Titanic Halloween costume I wore as a kid, now a kid with glasses who loves steam trains, as I was VERY much that growing up.... I feel seen. *looks around for hidden cameras like in 'the Truman show'*
  14. We have had private mailboxes in Green Grocer, and red public ones in sets since Grand Emporium. I don't think it's a hint, and besides, post offices aren't exactly exciting places to be. You go in, wait in line, buy stamps or drop off / pickup a package, and then go home. That's all. Nothing fun there (unless you collect stamps!) for the citizens, and just sorting behind in the employees-only area. It's actually quite a boring place tbh, which might explain why we haven't had one in a set since the the Winter Village one in 2011. (which wasn't exactly beloved at the time!) We might get mail truck someday, but then again, those are pretty regionally localized, unless it's very iconic. (a classic British mail truck or a 1990's-now US mail truck, are all I can think of in that department.) ..so yeah, post office likely isn't gonna happen.
  15. I love that Mercury steam loco!
  16. I'll be upset if it's a school bus. I just built one base on the moving truck GWP! As for the flower cart, it's highly unlikely. One came with the detective office as a GWP. If it's a police car, it will make sense with the police Station too, and everyone who was upset about their not being a police car / wanting a official old-timey police car, will be forced to buy the GWP. (This sounds like something so devious, Lego might just do it!)
  17. Great soda logo MOC's! In general, Coke is better than Pepsi, but they both are beat by Dr Pepper, which is older than the Coca-Cola formula by a few years* and tastes better IMO. ....There. I said it. *Yes, really: 1883 vs. 1886
  18. I heard it gets released to VIPs (or whatever they're calling it now) on November 1st, everyone else is on the 3rd of that month. Lego might just reveal it at the very last minute, or they might say "it's already out there, no need for a release announcement now" and just release it. Who knows for sure? We will just have to be patient I guess...
  19. "Hey, Chuck, this is your cousin, Marvin... Marvin Berry. You know how you've been looking for a sound? Well listen to THIS!" It's a fantastic scene, and a wonderfully accurate LEGO recreation!
  20. My lot of Blacktron torsos was delivered yesterday. I had ordered them on October 2nd. The weird thing is, I never received an email from Lego about them shipping - not even in my spam folder. I had to contact Lego for the tracking number.
  21. Possibly a issue between Nick and LEGO soured their arrangement, leading to Nickelodeon calling off the contract, and Lego being forced to destroy the stock. The one thing for sure is we will never know the exact details...
  22. @Animated101 I don't think it's a Lego issue, but possibly one with Nickelodeon. From what I recall reading, they had the TMNT's unsold sets pulled from shelves and destroyed around the time Spongebob stopped. As a side note, SpongeBob then went to MegaBloks, who may still have the license today. (who knows for sure?) Honestly, if Lego brings back any thing Nickelodeon related, it should be SpongeBob and Avatar (not the blue cat people!) as that series is on it's second live-action reboot and it's third animated series. It would be like printing money if they did it well... unlike the two original 2006 sets. Oh, and can a mod such as @Clone OPatra move this thread to the licensed forum? It seems like it would get more comments in the right place!
  23. It's actually front paged twice!
  24. Well, come join us at our next meeting in November! See the link in my previous post for the schedule if you are interested. Oh, and yes I do visit the Minifig shop in Kirkwood as much as possible. They have such awesome stuff - I get my train wheels from them.
  25. Yep! I'm in St. Charles county. Are you a member of Gateway LUG?
