This updated version of my 2023 MOC of the UP house - set 43217 (and a back half addition I found on Rebrickable by user rykfield) features a new removable modular footprint. The green Studebaker is also new. This version of the house folds open and locks shut on a Technic pin. I built the house's rear half from some movie-accurate instructions on Rebrickable, as seen here. The rear half of the house. The lower floor features a living room, foyer, and dining room while the upper floor features a bedroom and music room. This is the inside of the front half of the building. The rear half of the house's interior. Most of the furniture seen in these two pictures is recolored from the Friends 'Downtown Flower shop and Furniture Store' (set 41732) along with a few pieces from the 'Moving Truck GWP' ( set 40586) and the original UP house itself. The removable modular base without the house. It features a birdbath, driveway, and opening gate. This car's bullet-nose front end was inspired by the look of the 1950 / 51 Studebaker Commander while the color scheme and rear bodywork were inspired by a old Indiana Jones MOC by @hachiroku. The rear has two coverings partially obscuring the rear wheels, in true '50's elegance. The roof comes off to place a figure at the wheel and in the backseat. This mini fig (the owner of house and car) is modeled after my Great Uncle Jack. (the family just calls him Uncle Jack) He's an ex-Marine, Korean War vet, and tough as nails with razor-sharp wit. Yet he's also the nicest, most friendly man you'll ever meet. NOTE: Sorry for the dark colors of the photos. My phone hates taking pictures of things that are blue and / or green. I had three different light sources, and it still turns out too dark! Thoughts?

The old colours, and later service packs
Murdoch17 replied to Alexandrina's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Since they switched from pre-colored pellets of ABS as used in the old days, I think it would be impossible to bring back the older colors. -
Hey @Peppermint_M, what time zone would that be in? I'm trying to figure out when EB is going down for the day here in the Central USA. Thanks in advance!

Thank you! I can't wait to see your cargo plane in it's finished state!

CB&Q Pioneer Zephyr streamlined diesel train-set - updated 12/08/23
Murdoch17 replied to Murdoch17's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Main post updated. Sorry moderators for the large bump (6 years!), but I wasn't sure if making a new post was appropriate because the text is virtually the same, but the pictures / model have all changed. (I don't like to make duplicate threads as it feels like I'm repeating myself.) Anyway... Compare the original consist from 2017 (directly above) to the 2023 updated one further up the page. Hopefully you will think my skills have improved since then! The train is on the list to build... if I can source the gray wheels that is!- 13 replies

Confession time: I've had this building built since this time last year. I honestly forgot about it, and I'm just now getting around to giving it it's time in the spotlight. Also, my phone really messed up the color balance on some of the photos. (It's REALLY strange because all these pictures were taken at the same time!) Apologies in advance! This is a rebranded Honeydukes from set 76388 - Hogsmeade Visit - with a back half to the building and a second sales floor added on. Yes, that's supposed to be Willy Wonka standing out front of the shop next to the delivery truck, which itself is a heavily modified set copy of 40586 - Moving truck GWP. The front of the candy store by itself. There is no mistaking who owns THIS shop! Rear view of the building. The building can only open up to 90 degrees for inside access due to the overhanging structure of the roof and a few other items. This store has everything; a wall of Everlasting Gobstopper's in the four flavors, Scrumdidilyumptious bars, Square Candies That Look 'Round, new-formula Fizzy-Lifting drinks, a Wonka chocolate fountain, Exploding Candy (for your enemies), Lollipops of all kinds, and many more items. (Ok, so I didn't design most of the items in here. square candies and the Gobstopper wall are all I added of consequence to the inside. The rest of the sweets are repurposed / duplicated from the set, but they ARE in there.) I recreated set 40586 - Moving Truck GWP - in blue for delivering wily Wonka products from the Factory to the store. I changed the wheels, rear-view mirrors, front bumper, and extended the cab to seat two figures. You may be asking why I chose blue for the truck. The answer is simple: I had two blue wheel arches lying around unused, and this neatly solves that! The rear of the truck. As in the original set, the rear roof section comes off and the ramp slides out, along with the cabin doors opening up. The roof of the cab section also comes off to seat a driver at the wheel and a navigator in the passenger seat. The man, the myth, the legend: Willy Wonka! (This is supposed to be the classic Gene Wilder version, not the weird Johnny Depp one) That's all I got for these MOC's. Thoughts are appreciated - good, bad, or indifferent!

As you can see, the pumpjack portion is now done. I added a hand crank as no motor can go that slow as to be accurate... not to mention I have no motors, nor room for one and the needed battery box anyway!

Thank you! It's been as slog to find a working, accurate design these last two years. Glad I got it right in the end!

I wanna see somebody do a full Lady Liberty using the NWH set as a basis. it would be astoundingly tall, but it is possible... I think. Just saw Venomized Groot. I think it gives Dobby a run for his money in creepy / nightmare inducing factor. -
Question about the new package of the base plates
Murdoch17 replied to ks6349's topic in General LEGO Discussion
It's paper packaging, so it's probably not waterproof. Better safe than sorry and move them anyway! -
EB doesn't allow for you to host photos here, that's why the limit is so low. you have to link them into your post from somewhere like Flickr, Bricksafe, or some other hosting site. I think their are tutorials here on Eurobricks somewhere on how to get them into your post... Your best be would be to ask an admin for help. @Clone OPatra runs this sub-forum.

There can only be one Aerotrain! (It WAS first, after all!) (the above is a joke) Neat theory about the monorail, though.

Classic silent-film era cinema! The MOC is *chef's kiss* as well.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Murdoch17 replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
If it's not selling well, then they don't make more and stock eventually runs out. If I remember correctly, Town Hall and Market Street also had rather short release windows because of that fact. (I believe one of the designers has stated as such in the past about TH.) So, one can only assume the Police Station isn't selling enough to warrant another run. Also, the 2 year run for a Lego set is perfectly normal for most sets... modular buildings either run longer due to popularity (as in Assembly Square), or stop at ~2 year mark. -
Marvel Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
Murdoch17 replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
I don't know if there was an official statement, but TT and LEGO's partnership is dissolved due to issue's with TT overworking employees to get thing done (rush culture). I think there is one more rumored game coming, but I really don't know. It's not my area of expertise... I was just as shocked as you are to hear it. -
Marvel Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

No game is rumored as far as I know... especially not with Lego not working with Traveler's Tales again. (but that's off topic) -
@Johnny1360 @Portal Out After nearly two years in development hell, this model is DONE, and all six real world photos have been added to the first post! If I tagged you in this post, you commented before when it was a WIP and I would appreciate your thoughts (alongside everyone else's of course!) on the finished MOC.

Disney Properties 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
Murdoch17 replied to Huigberts Builds's topic in LEGO Licensed
Maybe another Pixar set? The iconic Pizza Planet delivery truck in Speed Champions scale would be cool to see. It would make sense, but be very expensive, even at 20 bucks. ...unless they included the restaurant itself! (at a higher price point, of course!) -
Thanks for the compliments, and sorry I didn't see your post earlier @Toxic43! I plan on getting the model ordered first thing next month. It currently sits at about $40 before S&H with only 433 parts to obtain. (I also plan on putting stickers on the sides of each car with the names spelled out on them.) Keep your eyes peeled for the real models sometime next month!
