Entry for Book III Challenge IV, Category B "The Crown in Daily Life". Memoirs. I jumped out of bed, panicked with the pounding sound coming from the other side of my chamber door. No sunlight came from the outside, meaning it was still dawn. I ran out of the room and there, covered in the shadows of the trees, stood a tall man with a thick brown bush under his nose. - Five minutes. We are going fishing. My father was not an early riser. But if something could take him out of bed before the sun casted its first light, it was important. That morning, he had fetched a horse, tied his bags onto its saddle and prepared breakfast so we would not starve on the road. Make no mistake. It was important. The days in our village were cold, frosty, windy, and slippery. Everyday, through the whole year, through each of the seasons. But there were these other days – only a handful of days, when the gods were good and the clouds would clear out, the wind would stop, and the sun was so warm it made our skins burn. Those were the days my father would go fishing. He taught me the art of catching fish. But not only choosing a bait, casting a net and waiting for a bite. No. He taught me to read the tides and the wind. To hear the forest and perceive the scent of the trees. To observe the animals and learn from their instinctive survival drive. That was fishing for him. - Hear that? It’s a cormorant. This big black bird, called cormorant, I learned, was known for hunting fish. According to my father, no animal in the forest could smell fish like a cormorant bird. So, we would track this big black bird and follow him to the shores, only to find a pond flooded with either salmon, trout or bluegill. - Now, just remember to be patient. Move slowly and steady. Put your hands together and dip them into the water. Feel the flow. Just focus. Breath in. Breath out. It could be a matter of seconds or even hours. - You never go for the fish. You let the fish come to you. And when it does... You grab it. But it sounds much easier that it is. __________ Hope you can all find the hidden crown piece. Let me know what you think. Walden; or, Life in the Woods A few months ago a friend of mine loaned me a book I had always heard of but never read. The book is the well-known "Walden; or life in the woods" written by Henry David Thoreau and published in 1854. Walden details Thoreau's experiences over the course of two years, two months, and two days (1845–47) in a cabin he built near Walden Pond amidst woodland owned by his friend and mentor Ralph Waldo Emerson, near Concord, Massachusetts. By immersing himself in nature, Thoreau hoped to gain a more objective understanding of society through personal introspection. Simple living and self-sufficiency were Thoreau's other goals, and the whole project was inspired by transcendentalist philosophy, a central theme of the American Romantic Period. It is considered Thoreau’s masterwork. Struck by the history and inspired by the cover of the book, in the few past weeks I built Thoreau's cabin in the wood. Joe's Cottage (and Joe's tow truck) Joe is a lonely guy. He lives in his tan wooden cottage somewhere in the woods. His mates are birds and chickens. He loves driving his tow truck and he always helps people who are in breakdown on their way. My latest creation was inspired by a Japanese model maker who makes little cottages and shacks in the woods. I added few NPU like the speargun as light holder, pistons on the electricity pole, Ninjago hat on the chimney and some other even on the tow truck. I tried to photograph the scene making it alive and warm, it seems to me there is a nice atmosphere due to the light sideways. Take a moment to appreciate all the small details that all add up to this rustic scene. It was very funny building this and even more catching the details to insert via period pictures spotted on the web. Hope you like it!

Special Thanks to you all. My Lego ideas project (X Eyed Junction) is about to reach 1K. Creativity and imagination is the concept of Lego and this project too. It is an entire new idea in itself. A thought from imagination to reality. Never seen of heard before. 10,000 votes will make this junction becomes a reality. No Theme!!, but just imagination and innovation. Designers start on a theme and then the fantastic model comes up, but here its exactly reversed. The JuNcTiOn got created first and then the name, theme started to pop up. Sounds little Funny right, but it really worked. Look at the name and link it with the Junction. The 2 Big X symbols at the Top and of course not to forget the EyEs looking for you. From this the name came out as “X Eyed”. To further on the excitement, we both (my 7 year old champ and myself) tried to Rhyme and shine. X Eyed becomes X Sight (Rhyming with Excite). That’s about the name. Like wise there is much more interesting things. Hopefully you CuRiOsiTy is arousing more and more COME one, COME all In every Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall, X EyEd JuNcTiOn is standing Tall. Awaiting to Welcome you All !!! Location It cannot be in a forest of cement (city), but some place which is little windy and the natural air keeps the atmosphere cool. Can’t think of a long highway stretch alongside a beach, but of course little desolated. This location serves a natural feeling and suits the JuNcTiOn. Surrounding The JuNcTiOn, in its own, is open from all sides as like our ThOuGhTs, which have endless possibilities. For better ambience, the 2 antique cars and stranded ship has been positioned on each side. This does not completely cover the JuNcTiOn, but it wraps an amazing feeling over it. Entrance The entrance will surely catch your attention or should I say, it will catch your Eyeeeeee. Whether it’s the X Eyed at the top or the little plants on the side. Careful !!! there are monster tooths on the pillars. Of course, you can’t miss the 4 circular studs hanging around. The pillars combine and form the shape of an Asian palace or temple with a golden pyramid at the top centre. A small red light at the centre is eagerly awaiting to welcome you. Hey!!! Wait, don’t drive away with Antique cars. It is for your pleasure only… Hope you enter soon !!! Inner place Hey, its really great and amazing. You have finally set your foot in here... We always spot big things first and so you will notice the Stranded ship. But there are other things too. You can better hop to the corner glass holder to get you glass or grab a drink from the table. Did you notice, there are 2 semi circular areas where you can stand out loud or just have a heighted seat. Cautious !!! Don’t bump into others as its gets little crowdy sometimes. You can always take a quick snap with the stranded ship or just Hop on to the Antique cars for fun. The EyEs are not just at the entrance. Look carefully, it is also at the Antique Cars and the Stranded Ship. It is like signaaaaling you Beware !! We are keeping an EyE on youuuuu… Color The color combination is revolving around Brown and it shades with a combination a dark red. This matches to the color theme of Sand and goes well with the surroundings. Light & Bright JuNcTiOn opens up in the evening and the transparent lights of red, orange and yellow brighten it up. The light and color theme goes hand in hand. It will glow in the dark. Don’t you think that the NaTuRaL Mooooon Light will further add on to the charm. Stranded Ship Don’t Whisper and tell this to anyone. Let me tell you a secret… SsSsShhhhh… It is not a ship but a ship like structure so that people get amazed. I just got some old parts from a shutdown factory, colored it, assembled it, put on some lights and that’s it…. Does not really look like… I know, but don’t share this with anyone. I Trust you Antique Cars Why does it have such a design? Whats so special about it? Think, Think and Think. Whosoever visits here is thinking on them and so will you J. You figure out for yourself. Take some time to think. -
A-Frame Cabin An architectural icon from 1950 to about 1975, the A-frame is one of my favourite rural homes ever, a triangle-design built for lounging on outdoor decks and staring at nature. I built this cabin inspired, in part, by Harlan Hubbard's book Payne Hollow, about living a simpler life in a hand-built home. The author is considered by many a modern-day Thoreau. Two brothers, Dan and Ethan, burned out on modern working believed that stripping away modern comforts and living more simply in nature would lead to a more spiritually an creatively fulfilling life. They looked for a cabin in the woods and finally found out this old wooden A-Frame Cabin. They fixed up it and now they live there happily. It's not my first cabin in the woods but it was very funny building the "A" structure and trying to add many weird details. I also played with the light to let the scene as deep as possible. To build the basement I ripped off the clever hammers technique by Letranger Absurde. Below few pictures Hope you like it!

"Into the Wild" Snowy Magic Bus A few months ago I built the most iconic scene from the movie “Into the Wild”, directed by Sean Penn in 2007, with the Magic Bus standing in plain sight in the wild Alaskan woods. It was early spring. With the cold season coming it was taken for granted I'd be tempted to build the snow capped Bus as it appears in some scenes of the movie. The sand green/white Bus stands on a big snowy base now built with many weird parts to create the snow-covered foliage effect. White pines are placed behind it. Chris McCandless's story is well known and sadly it didn't end well. And the Bus itself, seen as a danger, has been recently airlifted from the Alaskan wild to a secure site after two hikers have died and at least 15 have had to be rescued while trying to reach the bus in the remote Alaskan wilderness. Abandoned on the Stampede Trail near Denali National Park, the bus had become a pilgrimage site. It was revered by travelers around the world who had read the book or seen the movie. But it had also become a hazard, luring hikers into forbidding territory. Here my first version of the Into the Wild diorama with more info about the story of Chris. As a LEGO dragon fan, I had been eyeing up Ninjago set 71829 Lloyd's Green Forest Dragon for a while but hadn't pulled the trigger when a friend bought it for me as a surprise gift. The reason for not getting it myself was that there were features of the dragon that bothered me. I'm not particularly into Ninjago so was seeking a more generic green dragon, e.g. a quadruped, not a biped, and one that was better proportioned (the wings are very large compared to the body). When the set recently went on sale at a retailer where I have loyalty points, I couldn't resist the urge to get a second dragon and combine them. The resulting dragon is very much more to my liking. I set myself the following requirements: Quadrupedal dragon More proportional overall More posable/better articulation More greebling/more organic looking More generic fantasy/not specifically Ninjago Not designed to be ridden Smallest possible number of additional pieces, i.e. parts not from two 71829s In the end, I only used four additional parts: two 6043656 and two 6039479. This is what I came up with. What do you think? -
Hi everyone! I present to you the third module of the Medieval Village. Hidden in the forest among large trees with dark trunks, surrounded by vegetation, in perfect symbiosis with nature... there is an outpost, a stronghold where the Forestmen live! These famous archers, children of the forest, live hidden among their trees. Through ingenious secret passages they can reach the village to be able to fight enemy factions and grab gold to survive. This new module connects to the previous one (#2 medieval bridge and water mill) and represents an important presence in the Medieval Village that is gradually emerging. The module is composed of 4 trees typical of forestmen with black trunks. A large waterfall is the protagonist of the scenario which gives life to the stream already seen in the previous module. Next to the waterfall there is a tree with a special branch... if activated it opens a secret door in the rock that allows the Forestmen to reach their outpost through a tunnel carved into the rock that runs along the back of the waterfall. The Forestmen's stronghold consists of a ground floor with a main room with a fireplace, an armory and a wardrobe that can be opened revealing the secret passage to the tunnel. On the first floor we find a dormitory room and another room where the forestmen eat. Above we find a turret used to spot enemies from afar and where a powerful crossbow makes its presence to shoot arrows far away. With a non-LEGO rubber band the crossbow actually works! A further lever behind the base allows you to move two Forestmen children playing among the reeds. There are also Easter eggs. The base is made up of 5,800 pieces, the outpost alone is made up of around 1800 parts. The three floors of the outpost are separable to better observe the internal details. Prince John Sits inside his lonely castle with everything he could possibly want. Money, Power, Land, Loyal Servants. But he is unsatisfied, craving only the death of the bandit Robin Hood. Meanwhile Robin Hood is enjoying a party with all his friends. He is an outlaw who owns nothing but the clothes on his back and his trusty bow. He gives away all the money he ever gets. And today he is happy, dancing with his one true love Maid Marion while all his friends dance play and sing around him. My goodness this took forever to edit. Stupid Leaves. Built for the "Light & Shadow" Category for the 2023 Summer Joust. Hopefully this is the right forum, it could also belong in licensed themes, but I figured it was a better fit here. I did enter it in the Summer Joust after all.

Silvaridis, the forest wizard home was build for the Summer Joust 2022 Gradients category. I only used green colors, teal and black, white and clear for this build as was mentioned in the category for Summer Joust 2022. One collab wasn’t enough, and we just managed to squeeze in a second build before Isaac returned to Denmark. It’s yet another scene set in our Alnya, and we returned to our roots by making it viewable from all sides, and even including a full interior! It fits on a 48×48 baseplate and is an entry in the Civilian Building category of the CCC. Extra credit to John for handling the last details and photography! Allanar Forest is home to one of the largest Dwelf communities in Alnya. Its beautiful trees, plentiful wildlife, and rich soil are a perfect match for the Dwelfs favorite pastimes of raising livestock, nurturing gardens, finding new uses for herbs, crafting beautiful cottages, and of course eating. While having cliffs that could open up and have more of a display/play area in the process. Tried to cram as many details as I could to generate a certain feel to the set. While trying to make the trees in a new realistic way so they stand out. Front view with the characters: Opened View: Tree and ground that's accessed at the center when it's opened. The front of the design. With the stonepath staircase, waterways and waterfall. Marketplace The big statue on the bottom level can be turned. Felys and Ferrel Also known as the Catz, little helpers of Ada. Originally from a southern country called Felisia. Gnird A helper of Svyatobor. Svyatobor An ancient Leshy, always appears if the forest when the forest need protection or when it is irritated with all the noise visitors make. With it's power to control plants and animals, it is a fierce adversary. Can also shapeshift and change its appearance based it's needs. Grubs Another helper of Svyatobor.

In Finland forests, lakes and saunas are very characteristic. I have tried to include this in this LEGO model, which should illustrate something typically Finnish.

Hi everyone, On LOWLUG is a Castle contest from beginning of March till the end of April. There are 5 categories in this contest. Vignet Flora Battle/Duel Village life Headquarters I've build several MOC's for this contest. I'll share them in this topic. Vignet - Classic Castle This is the only Classic Castle minifig I have. It was suitable to use for a vignet. Vignet - Knights Kingdom II A young Vladek is at the small gate of the Black Fortress. Duel - Knights Kingdom This is the duel between Cedric the Bull and Princess Storm. Flora - Fantasy Just a small scene with more focus on plants and trees. For this build I used a Magenta baseplate. Inspiration for this build came from the album cover of a Melodic Death Metal band called Black Forest with the album Dream. Flora - Forestmen Of course I've had to build a Forestmen MOC for this contest. The Forestmen are in the forest for hunting. They have spotted a deer. Headquarters - Lion Knights Photo is a bit too bright. Sorry for that. Lion Knights are leaving the city. Some people are in the street getting the usual stuff. This was my submission to the Lego Wizarding World build competition. These are the photos I submitted and as one of the requirements of the contest no minifigures were permitted but I plan on taking a few with Hagrid and Fang and potentially Harry Ron and Hermione.

This model started out as a simple sketch, and I wanted to see if I could built a fully completed LEGO version of it, and here it is! The Forestside house, as the name suggest, is supposed to be located in the forest, highlighted by the trees in the background. On the exterior, there is a swimming pool, garage, driveway, and some nice glass fencing. The house itself, has got a balcony, a rooftop lounge, and some nice big windows for a scenic view. The interior is also fully detailed with a living room, dining area, kitchen, bathroom, study, and a bedroom. Overall this model took me about 2 month to create, and I hope you enjoy it!
