I agree with what @SD100 said: "Wow!" I will also add to that that both the train and the grain elevator behind it look amazing! Keep up the good work @zephyr1934!

The Gateway Arch in St. Louis is near on impossible to be done right. I know of only three MOC models of it: One about ~20 bricks high from 2005-ish, one that is 1:200 scale that requires a permanent support structure modeled after the one used when the real arch was built, and one in the St. Louis Science Center that required cutting, glue, and not-fully-attached bricks. The first one was made by a Gateway LUG member and is very, very tiny, the second is another GTWLUG members' personal MOC, and the third was made by Adam Reed Tucker. If you want an official kit to be accurate - forget it. If you want it to be big - don't ask. and if you want it to be stable... you get the gist! Personally, a huge train station building might be cool. NYC's Grand Central Terminal, (or the old NYC Pennsylvania Station, long since demolished but still beloved by many) or some other well recognized landmark station such as LA Union Passenger Terminal, one of Chicago's many depot's, St Louis Union Station in it's heyday might do.

Thanks @danth, however, as I stated I didn't really design it... all I did was make it buildable (I.E. make it stable in real life) from an official game design, with the added mini figures. Thank you for stopping by though!

The microscale Venture Koi spaceship (that's the red vessel in background, minus the white stand parts) from the LEGO Universe cinematic trailer is complete, and so are the Nexus Force faction leader's mini figures. "Answer the call, and save Imagination!" The rear of the Venture Koi space exploration vessel. From left to right we have the four leaders, representing their respective factions: - Vanda Darkflame, ninja of Paradox faction - Hael Storm, captain of Venture League faction - Duke Exeter, knight of Sentinel faction - Dr. Overbuild, master-builder of Assembly faction Notes on the build: The ship's design in this scale was originally from in-game rocket, but modified to be buildable and with the seat removed. Also, I had been waiting ten years to make this ship in real life, and the new ratchet joint bricks in the Optimus Prime set made it possible to finally build the Venture Koi in the real world. I am also happy I was able to get the founders built as close as I did to their in-game counterparts, as they originally used custom parts / prints never available in the real world. Thoughts / comments / concerns appreciated!

Could use help finding (an) old, old post(s)
Murdoch17 replied to Battlegorilla's topic in Forum Information and Help
Besides searching for it using the search bar, I think tagging a mod might help you in your quest: @Jim , @Peppermint_M Do you know of any mods / regulators / people in general who might be able to help him? (I was going to tag the History forum mod, but I can't recall who that is.) -
Thanks, and sorry for the late reply @Darkkostas25! The MOC is done in real life, see the first post for more pictures! (I'm also tagging @Toxic43 with this post, as he wanted to see the train in it's finished form as well.)

Thomas the Tank Engine - MOCs of locomotives and rolling stock
Murdoch17 replied to Murdoch17's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Ok, so a quick update on Gordon (and to a lesser extent, Henry) is in order: Basically, I got distracted by another model or two, and now Gordon's tender is going through a slight redesign as some arch parts weren't available in quantity anymore. Also of note, I had to redo Gordons and Henry's side rods. I had used 1x6 thin Technic liftarms for a portion of the pistons, but actually 1x7's work much better as they aren't getting stuck not nearly as much as the 1x6's. Sadly, I only had enough 1x7 liftarms in black to finish Henry's side rods. Hopefully Gordon will be finished next month. -
Herlock Sholmes - Second Adventure Ch13
Murdoch17 replied to Captain Braunsfeld's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
You are a genius for weaving such a large amount of pop culture references into one story and make it work beautifully. Also, love the sand quote usage. (which is more than can be said for that entire film, but I digress!) My hat is off to you, sir! -
Arachnophobes look away now, because the Maelstrom spider boss is BACK! As seen in the cinematic trailer (link to Youtube) for LEGO Universe, The Spider Boss was imagined by Baron Typhonus as a creature of pure chaos in the Mythran Temple and brought to life by the power of the Imagination Nexus. The Baron created the Spider Boss to demonstrate the possibilities of Imagination without rules. The Spider smashed a Robot Dog (that had just been created by Doctor Overbuild) and moved to attack Duke Exeter, Dr.Overbuild, and Hael Storm as Baron Typhonus laughed in triumph. However, creatures of chaos serve no master; the Spider turned on Typhonus and dragged him into the Imagination Nexus. This action corrupted the Nexus and mutated it into the Maelstrom. I recreated this MOC from instructions on Rebrickable by user Brigs, as seen here. I had to change some parts' colors around (as it wasn't buildable in original form without selling a kidney), and other parts were weakly attached. For example: Those two black wedge slopes on the rear of the body were originally purple, but couldn't be bought in quantity due to them being from one 2014 X-Men set. This made it impossible to get them at a reasonable price. That's all for now, thoughts and comments are always appreciated!

Brickshelf is shutting down. Let's try to save it.
Murdoch17 replied to Trekkie99's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Re: MOCpages - Everything on that site was lost when Sean Kenny wiped it from existence, unless the Wayback machine has it... which is doubtful the entire site would be there. If we ever lose Brickshelf like we lost MOCpages, God help the LEGO fan community. A lot of valuable history will be lost... again. -
Is It Possible To Reintroduce Old Sets?
Murdoch17 replied to SpacePolice89's topic in General LEGO Discussion
They tried that in the early 2000's, with LEGO Legends, and it didn't work out very well for them at all. I've read several books that say they were major money losers for the company. -

Awesome purchase! Just so you know, Eurobricks isn't meant to host photos. You can host them elsewhere, (Flickr, Bricksafe, etc.) and then embed / link to them here on EB . I think everyone would love to see more pictures! -

They've been doing that at least since 2001, with the first Hagrid's hut and original Hogwarts Castle. I think 1999's Ninja theme had some too... -

I believe LEGO referenced the films in an official set as well, with the following green 1x2 tile in set 4512 from 20 years ago. (I feel old now) The set's designer says where it comes from in this Brickset list. (you'll have to scroll to find it, it's a ways down)

Could it be a LEGO SW Prototype?

Thomas the Tank Engine - MOCs of locomotives and rolling stock

All the parts found so far for Gordon, with only 41 parts to order from Bricklink until he is completed. (The Big Ben Brick wheels were ordered yesterday) -
Could it be a LEGO SW Prototype?
Murdoch17 replied to Charly DarkSaint's topic in Forum Information and Help
@Charly DarkSaint Looks like something Lobot wore in Episode V to me... or maybe the rebel technician from 2006 before it was finalized? -
Also, I should note we aren't supposed to post leaked photos of upcoming, unrevealed sets directly, not even a link to where we found it. LEGO sets forth rules for registered LUGS and registered media, and woe to those who break those rules. It's been that way for YEARS.... maybe even a decade.

LEGO Sci-Fi Ongoing - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
Murdoch17 replied to Lyichir's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
I agree. It just isn't worth it for them to tear into sets that didn't sell and repack them in another line. -
I think everyone who has ever touched a Lego brick knows what the underside looks like and most wouldn't even notice this error. Renders aren't perfect, it's true, but this is like looking for things to complain about...

Thomas the Tank Engine - MOCs of locomotives and rolling stock
Murdoch17 replied to Murdoch17's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Another day, another engine! This one replaces the older digital version of Gordon, as this one is easier to build and less parts. Once again, I took set 76423 (Hogwarts Express and Hogsmeade Station) and modified it quite a bit, this time stretching it out into a 4-6-2, specifically Gordon from the Thomas and Friends TV show / The Railway Series books. In fact, I changed so much, that there isn't much of the original set left! The rear of the loco. As usual, three old 12v-era wheels on the tender, and six XS size wheels from Big Ben Bricks are missing from the model because LDD doesn't have the parts. I should have Gordon built next month, as it's about $20 for everything left to order from Bricklink, and another 15 for BBB wheels. Thoughts? -
VIKING VILLAGE Ideas set via Target vote

Is anyone going to put the Muppets on the creator Viking ship to pillage this village while singing "In the Navy" like in the original Muppet show? ...or is it just me?
