small 1930's OCTAN gas station with vintage tanker truck - MOC

This building was heavily inspired by a Winter Village MOC by Brick City Depot from who I bought a copy of some instructions from in 2015. (The link to his store's site is here.) I added a back wall to the building, made it look more late 1920's / early '30's by adding painted wooden siding, and removing the Christmas-time items. Also, several items are missing prints in these pictures that would be fixed in real life. Please note: Both these OCTAN models go with my Hogsmeade-style MOCs... and yes, I know that doesn't make sense with Harry Potter cannon. I don't really care, it looks good next to them so thus it stays! The front of the building with the two art-deco gas pumps. The four yellow 1 x 2 tile parts should have warning stripes pointed on them, and the twin pumps should have OCTAN labeling on top as well. This rear portion of the building is new, along with the removable roof section. It's a little crowded inside, with two shelving racks, a service counter w/ cash register, and a printed poster for Radiator Springs on the wall. The gas tanker is a mashup of the truck in set 10222 (Winter Village Post Office) and the one in Indiana Jones set 7683 (Fight on the Flying Wing) and should have OCTAN branding on the sides of the tank. It can seat a single driver figure at the wheel, too. The rear features tank controls and a rubber hose for filling up the gas station's underground tank. Thoughts on this future addition to my expanding small town? -

Hi guys, I want to introduce you my latest model. It is a technological equipment intended for shale gas extraction: PERCHERON This unique solution, called ONE-ENGINE-TRUCK, is the result of the American-Czech cooperation of the following companies: * M.G.BRYAN Equipment (USA) - Percheron superstructure * TATRA TRUCKS (CZ) - chassis * GARDNER DENVER (USA) - pump * TALOSA (CZ) - auxiliary gearbox The basis of the PERCHERON system is a TATRA T815-7 10×10 truck and a GD-2500 Quintiplex Well pump from the American company Gardner Denver. The 2500-horsepower pump blows a mixture of water, sand and chemicals into the well. Behind the Tatra cabin is a 12-cylinder diesel engine, model 1163 from the German company MTU. It is used to drive the pump and the vehicle. Engine power is 5954 hp. However, this power only serves to drive the pump. Only about 700 horses are intended to drive the Tatra with some cylinders on the engine switched off. The Czech company TALOSA designed a special additional gearbox for the transmission of torque for the drive of the mining equipment and also for the drive of the vehicle. Shale gas extraction: Shale gas is found in shale formations hidden hundreds of meters or units of miles underground. Due to the low permeability of the shale, the gas bearing cannot be pulled out in one borehole, as is the case with conventional gas pocket bearings. Here, a mining technology called hydraulic fracturing /fracking/ is used. The drilling rig first drills a vertical well. A horizontal borehole is then drilled through the shale gas deposit. The shale gas layer is then broken with small charges. Subsequently, a special device starts pumping a mixture of water, sand and chemicals into the well. The water expands and branches the cracks in the slate and the sand prevents the cracks from closing. Finally, a device for extracting the released gas enters. GENERAL STORE: A TIME CAPSULE General Stores were very common in the US back in the 18th and 19th century, especially in rural areas or in small towns. Actually, there are few of them along old nearly-forgotten interstate highways, they are like old treasures to preserve. Their main feature was carrying a general line of merchandise to remote populated places where mobility was limited and a single shop was sufficient to service the entire community. In the early twentieth century general stores often sold gasoline too. My latest diorama represents a classic general store depicted in a sixties scene somewhere in the heart of America with many elements easy to spot back then. Take a moment to appreciate all the small details that all add up to this vintage scene; the rusted pump abandoned on the ground, the phone cab, soft-drink dispenser, the gumball machine and many others. The old white-bearded man sitting in his rocking chair keeps watch carefully who arrives helped by his loyal dog. On the left a little shop for quick repairs equipped with different utensils.All around I added many details like the water tower, the phone box, the gas pump and so on. I’m very satisfied with this creation even if it’s much better live than depicted by a photo. It was very funny building this and even more catching the details to insert via period pictures spotted on the web. Hope you like it!

Put together a 64 x 48 Octan gas station MOC with a small convenience store. As with all my MOCs, there is a layer of brick below a layer of plate on top of the baseplate for added rigidity. All custom stickers printed on transparent label paper( aside from the truck). Will have pictures of the store in the future.

Asteroid 7 space Gas Station - 5980 MOD with Squidman / Squidtron figures

This is the Asteroid 7 Gas Station, run by ex-Black Hole gang members Squidman and Squidtron inside the shell of the old burned-out Squidman's Pitstop. The Asteroid 7 is part of a small chain of gas stations that are independent from Octan Corp, using a competing brand (also called Asteroid 7) that has slipped through Lord Business' finger's more times than he'd like to admit. As the two Squid-beings built the station on the wreck of their old hideout they were able to incorporate some carry-over features such as hidden weapons systems, a top-notch defense grid, and a self-destructing reactor, just in case. Here is the repair bay, where Squidtron stores his tools to work on customers hover vehicles. As he is a cyborg, he can access schematics for any make or model from the internet directly to his brain, and then work on the car just as well as any seasoned expert, even if he'd never seen the car type before. When he is done, all he has to do is store the info in the station's main super-computer, and delete the local file from his head to save space for the next job. The pay desk has a wall-mounted computer screen to help keep track of who is where on the ground premises or airspace at any time. As the station is on a back-water hyper-way, it is not well used. The only ones who travel by are either those who should be there, as in refugees seeking shelter from Space Police IV officers, ones who should not be there, as in the hated SP officers seeking runaways, and finally, lost travelers looking for some way point they missed. True travelers who are not lost are a rarity indeed. The fission reactor provides the fuel for the customers, making Coaxium in three different refined qualities for customers to buy, much like gasoline was bought in three types back on old Earth. (The reactor makes Coaxium as Nuclear waste, which is used in hover engines as fuel.) The Coaxium fission reactor provides three different varieties of hover fuel for cars, trucks, and speeder bikes. The difference between trucks (white) and cars (green) is determined by engine rating, while speeder bikes is kinda obvious. (yellow) In reality, I was inspired by set 5980 (Squidman's Pitstop) and a set of tile alphabet (that I used for my double-sided GAS sign) by Steve Throm as showcased on New Elementary here. I plan on using this 4 x 2 tile for the "Asteroid 7" logo, with the word "Asteroid" spelled out in 1 x 1 tiles above on the other, smaller sign next to the "GAS" one. Number two in my modular phase of my AFOL life now and it's like the title says "Gas Station". I chose Octan as this is designed to fit in the Lego world, not the real world. The forecourt has two pumps and a tall light post to illuminate the whole forecourt of this gas station. Here in the above image we can see the side entrance near a typical car jack of the period. Shelves will cans of oil and fluids, spare parts in the clear glass counter, rack of tyres (tires) and a battery stand. There will be more modulars of different sizes coming over the next few months. Welcome to the Winter Village Filling Station, where you can fill your gas tank and fill your belly at the same time! This creation features the main building, a pair of vintage-style gas pumps, and a retro gas truck. Here's the main building, with tire rack and vintage road sign. It's been decorated quite nicely for the winter holiday. Inside, you can stock up on supplies and chat with the friendly staff. The pumps are shielded by a canopy. Hello everyone! My latest build is finally complete after taking up most of my desk space for the last few months. It's called Grand Prix Auto Services. A Gas station/Garage which is of a streamlined style from around the 1930's/1940's USA. I struggled to build a car from that time with what bricks I have so went for a more late 50's look with the car and scooter. I've seen some great examples by fellow EB members L@GO and ER0L but felt with so many varied styles out there and not too many versions in Lego there was room for one more! Mostly I wanted to use some of the curved window pieces I had purchased some time ago and this was the perfect opportunity. Most of the model is built sideways with only a little vertical building in places. It's therefore a little less stable in certain sections. Anyway, enough waffle and on with the pics; Any feedback,comments or questions welcomed!
