  1. We had been Traveling through Kaliphlin for some time, and I was anxious to return home. Amir Navabi had promised a ship to take us when he could secure one. But we were caught up in the Civil War, and I feared I might never see my homeland again. But as we traveled, we had come upon an Ulandian Lieutenant, and he and Amir had decided to venture into enemy territory. I personally had no wish to fight, only to return. But if returning meant raiding traveling parties on the road, thus be it. And we had just stumbled upon such a party. I head the Desert King Commander disscussing options with his escort. But they would not be afforded the time to think. "Surrender," Amir called. One of the bandits protecting the caravan spat at him, initiating his own demise. "Attack!" Amir was always ready for battle, and wanted to spite the Desert King as much as possible I, on the other hand, while not exited about fighting the Desert King, felt the feeling all Vikings feel before battle. Warrior rage. Rollo and I engaged the DK forces on our side, and made quick work of them. They were bandits, not the Warriors fighting at the fronts of this terrible War. Amir was once again re-asserting his ability to fight with his sword. The man was a natural, I hadn't seen a swordsman like him in my life. While Rollo had speed and power, Amir had something more. His sword strokes somehow.....flowed, like a dance. His sword just seemed to weave in and out, doing it's deadly work. I doubted if anyone could defeat him in open confrontation. Meanwhile, I had seen the Escort Leader sneak up on Amir. With a bellow of rage to wake the dead, I charged. The force of my stroke was so powerful it sent the mummy warrior tumbling right past Amir and the DK Commander, running into one of the horses. Amir hadn't even had to use his sword on the poor leader, which was just as well. The person I though was the leader of this Caravan was a lass of no more than 17. "Last chance," Amir told her. "Surrender." And she did. We had won the battle, but much remained to be decided. "I snitched one of there," Lydia told us, holding out a ruby of outstanding quality. "So we can sail back to Mitgardia." "Yes," Rollo exclaimed. "Now we can go home!" "Not that simple, I'm afraid," I interjected, stopping their celebration. "If we try to re-cross the border, Desert King forces will surely capture us. It's a miracle they didn't on the way in." "Then how do we get out?" Lydia asked, crestfallen. "We'll help Ulandus win Petraea. if they win there, they'll give us a boat." "Very well," Rollo murmured, still angry at our predicament. And with good reason. As Amir and the rest of the raiding party moved forward, I pulled him aside. "Amir, you're heading to Petraea, aren't you?" "Yes, why?" He had been heading there from the start, after all. "We will help you take the city," I told him. He actually smiled, which was the equivalent of tears of joy from him. Then his face shadowed. "In return for what?" "Safe passage, and a boat back to Mitgardia after the battle." Amir frowned for a moment, then decided. "It's a deal," He told me. Parting shot............ and the build without figs (mostly, anyway) Builder's notes: So this was fun to build, and I really love the olive green and dk orange I got from BL. But tell me what you think! Author's notes: Not much story here ether, but oh well. I have a huge build planned for Petraea, and the story will get really interesting from there. Oh, and sorry I haven't posted in forever........But I have finals for school coming up, so I probably won't be that active again until May/June. Anyway, enjoy! Oh, and did I mention? I would like to claim UoP credit for Geography: Desert Landscape. For the Praise of His Glory! ~Andrew
  2. A mummy pharaoh sends an guarded chariot with goods being sent to negotiate with the Ritzen tribe. A ambassador from the tribe meets them along the road. They soon find out why this part of the road is rarely used. Untitled by mlarbconnor, on Flickr Overall view of the moc, several bandits attack the party. Untitled by mlarbconnor, on Flickr The pharaoh and his chariot. in the background you can see a bandit swimming towards them. Untitled by mlarbconnor, on FlickrThe bandits attacking the pharaoh's guards. Untitled by mlarbconnor, on Flickr The bandits soon find out that the seemingly harmless ambassador is a powerful mage. Untitled by mlarbconnor, on Flickr One bandit jumps out of the boat only to face a wave of water coming right for him, the ambassador can also be seen. Hope you enjoyed, thanks for viewing, and C&C is always appreciated.
  3. My Phase 1 build for the Inn category in AoM. I hadn't done a snow scene in a while, so I built this quick build for fun. The icy water technique was inspired by Simon S. Mulled cider is a popular drink in Mitgardia, and it is often delivered in barrels via horse drawn carts or wagons. There are a few more pictures here: link C&C welcome

    Show me YOUR LEGO Town!

Simply put, like many of those showing off topics, I thought it'd be a great idea to do that for everyone's individual LEGO towns if they have any, especially seeing as I can't seem to find that many in this sub-forum. I'm currently working on my own town, and it encompasses mostly Creator houses and City 8x16 buildings. How about yours?
  6. Can anyone suggest a good way to connect a streetlamp to the following SNOT road model? Thanks!! Mike [edit] Oops, typo in thread title!

    Curved sloped roads

Does anyone have examples of SNOT roads that are both inclined vertically and curving horizontally? I can't for the life of me figure out how to create such a model. Thanks! Mike
  8. Hey all! This is my first Castle - themed MOC. I have always enjoyed this theme, as some of my first sets as a kid were Castle sets. After seeing many great MOCs and scenes from builders here, I thought I'd have a go at one. I decided to do a forestmen type creation, as they have always been a favorite LEGO faction to me. Anyway, here it is. This is the overall scene, built on a 32 x 32 base. And that's it . Thanks for viewing, and as always, C&C welcome. EDIT: More photos and full set on Flickr
  9. Hi all, here you can see my modded GE, turned into a car museum. It’s based on an earlier MOD some of you might already know, see http://www.flickr.co...er0l/8056214219. I’ve used a second set to enlarge it and built a roof sign. There isn't much of an interior yet, but it may be used as a shelter for the cars. Anyway I am not too fond of interiors you can’t see from the outside – here you can see enough to believe it’s a car museum. It has an open back so that there’s enough light within the building. But the main aspect here is rather the SNOT system used to build streets and pavements completely out of bricks. It's been developed together with my dear friend Altezza (Michael). Actually we don’t know if it has been done like this before – of course there are SNOT streets and pavements, but maybe not exactly combined like this. If it’s already existing, hopefully we may use it. The idea is to completely omit any studded plate as a base for buildings or streets – in our opinion this decreases the possibilities too much, e.g. it’s difficult to build something with an odd width. Plus there is a problem with baseplates being only half as thick as a usual plate. Our suggestion is a more flexible system: Buildings are set upon a kind of strip footing (5 layers, this matches exactly the height of street plus pavement). The holes withing the footing allow to install a cabling between buildings, if you want to have a lighting. Any width is possible. Floors can be built either by SNOT or by studded plates, it’s even possible to save the tiled mosaics of GE and FB on the pavement, as you can see. The width of the pavement (here: 8 studs) must be divisible by two in order to be able to change the direction of the studs SNOT-wise. As you might recognize this is a kind of start of a town layout featuring the cars and a monorail. Later Altezza will join me – at least we try to fix a standard from the beginning so that the layouts can always be combined. Of course all this must be tested further – you can’t think of every requirement in the first place. Any suggestions and questions are welcome, of course. Thanks for looking! Some more pics:
