Hello everyone,

The long wait is finally over. The new LEGO Minifigures - Disney Series 1 has appeared at my door step a few days ago and I have worked on it for the past sleepless nights to get this review out. I understand that some parts of the world has seen and own them. Some other LEGO communities also have been sharing their reviews too. I hope this review will not be somewhat repetitive or non-relevant to our Eurobricks Community. More importantly, I hope the long wait for this review is worth it.

Before I begin this detailed pictorial review, I would like to give my sincere thanks to The LEGO Group (TLG) which include the LEGO CEE and LEGO Collectable Minifigures Design Team. As a Reviewer, this opportunity is indeed a great honour and I am exceptionally thankful for the support that you guys have rendered. Till this date, I have completed 19 exhaustive LEGO Pictorial reviews including this current review, solely for the coverage of the LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series / LEGO Minifigures Theme throughout the past six years. I am so glad that I am able to deliver this traditional review.

I will like to thank Eurobricks Staff/LEGO Ambassador, CopMike and my entire fellow Eurobricks Staffers for being so helpful to this 'WhiteFang' traditional LEGO Collectable Minifigures (CMFs) reviewing endeavour.I must also thank my beloved wife, Kim/Belun for being supportive throughout this reviewing period! Otherwise, this review would never happen. It is important to have your family and loved ones to support the stuff that you enjoy doing and it also means doing up LEGO pictorial reviews which is no easy feat.

I am truly pleased that I am able to able to continue to share this very special reviewing achievement with all of you. I hope I have not disappointed anyone in this review, if so, I offer my humble apologies and I really hope I can continue to meet your expectations for this exclusive reviewing coverage.

Following Eurobricks tradition, let's do a formal re-cap for all of the past Eurobricks Collectable Minifigures polls once more. It started with a humble beginning of Series 1 followed by Series 2 in the year 2010 and it continue to spread like wildfire with another three strong waves of minifigures craze in the year 2011, putting Series 3, Series 4 and Series 5 in an excellent harvesting year. In the year 2012, we celebrated with Series 6, Series 7 and recent Series 8. With the beginning of year 2013, we have the recent Series 9, Series 10 and Series 11. In 2014, we have seen the LEGO Movie Series, The first LEGO Simpsons Series and Series 12. In 2015, we have the Series 13, LEGO Simpsons Series 2 and Series 14. In the beginning of 2016, we have the Series 15 and now I would like to invite the Eurobricks Community to cast their votes for this new LEGO Minifigures - Disney Series 1 poll statistics as well.

The LEGO Minifigures - Disney Series 1 main colour schema is pure blue. It resembles the 71004 LEGO Minifigures - The LEGO Movie Series colour schema. You could notice the close colour resemblance between both series. To some extent, it has a similar tint of blue which is reflected in the second 8684 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 2. The chosen colour schema is certainly a fitting choice for LEGO Minifigures - Disney Series.

The most incredible dream for many Disney fans in LEGO design

26053870774_2162073526_o_d.jpg

The LEGO Minifigures - Disney Series is slated for worldwide release on 1st May 2016. This new Disney Series excites me greatly as it is a dream for both LEGO and Disney to crossover their Disney proprietary characters in LEGO minifigures format. This is not the first time where TLG and Disney is cooperating and they had worked on many other previously acquired LEGO Licensed Themes such as Star Wars, Pirates of The Caribbean, Prince of Persia, Disney Princess etc. Unlike the previous Series 15 where it was the true original traditional design, this new LEGO Minifigures - Disney Series has made several breakthroughs in LEGO history. For the past 18 LEGO CMFs releases, the total number has been restricted to 16 minifigures excluding LEGO Team GB in 2012. With the same count of 60 minifigures per box, this is the very first time that TLG had introduced a total of 18 minifigures based on Disney universe which is made up of classic and modern Disney characters. I will be highlighting them individually in this review. In you case you did not notice, I have also coined the effect that LEGO Minifigures - Disney Series may not be restricted to just a single series and it is highly probable that we will see the next series in the near future similar to our LEGO Simpsons Series 1 and 2. Even though the current packaging did not state any numbering, but I tend to speculate that won't be the end of LEGO Minifigures - Disney Series and it probably served a new breakthrough for other Disney characters to be introduced and conformed to LEGO Minifigures standards. I strongly suspect that we will be seeing lesser of the traditional CMFs series and perhaps more specialised series in the future. Either way, I am feeling hype with regards to these new designs.

I am not exactly sure whats in store for the future of the LEGO Minifigures Theme even though we have wide speculation on the upcoming types for future series. There are no doubt that I hold high regards for the LEGO CMFs Design Team and I believe they will continue to surprise us with great designs in the future releases.

IMPORTANT: Please note that the naming for all 18 minifigures that I have use for this review are official TLG minifigures naming for the LEGO Minifigures - Disney Series 1.

Front view comparison with LEGO Minifigures - Disney Series 1 and together with all available LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 1 to 15, LEGO Movie, Simpsons 1 and 2 packets

26566262422_96e8929bf7_o_d.jpg

I have placed all 19 different minifigures packets excluding the LEGO Team GB packet. I decided not to include the LEGO Team GB packet as I do not consider it as part of the mainstream even though there are others who may feel differently. From the above display image, you can see an impressive transformation of LEGO CMFs Series 1 to the recent LEGO Series 15, and now to the current Disney Series 1. It is so wonderful to be able to see all of them from a top view. The LEGO Minifigures Theme is still a force not to be reckoned with and remains a very strong contender in the TLG product range since 2010.

Take a closer look at the following images. This is the front view of the LEGO Disney Series 1 packet, while this shows the back view of it. This is an image that shows the back view comparison for all of these packets.

To the regular readers of my LEGO CMFs review, you probably notice that this paragraph has been mentioned numerous times, because I personally feel this is the most effective method to acquire the highly sought after minifigures without taking any drastic measures. This is the 'same' golden rule, which has been mentioned in my previous reviews. If you are intending to collect the precious and hard-to-find minifigures, please hone your skills for the touch and feel method. It is an important skill to acquire to locate the minifigures that you want without spending too much money to randomly acquire them, especially so when you are intending to buy large quantities. Your sole mission is to memorise and remember the minifigures assortments for each of the specialised designs. Isolate and identify the most unique accessory or accessories for the particular minifigure. From there, eliminate the torso, head and legs and feel for the other parts. The sole disadvantage of this method is that much time would be wasted if the minifigures that you are looking for have been taken from the box. You might also end up with sore numb thumbs after feeling them. However, I personally feel that this approach is the most practical that works the best for me than any other uncommon approaches.

As you flip to the back of the promotional poster, you will notice a set of simple instructions to guide LEGO fans who are not familiar with the fixing of fabric cloth, placement of tail and minifigure parts correctly. In this case, there are five minifigure designs which require some form of basic instructions to guide our very young builders who may not be too familiar with these unique complicated parts. It is a simple illustration to make sure you placed it correctly.

1) Presenting Stitch

26659523425_f3cd3a0f83_o_d.jpg

Without further ado, let's bring out the first Disney character minifigure and is none other than our mischievous Stitch. Stitch was first appeared in Lilo and Stitch movie, released in 2002 by Walt Disney Feature Animation. Stitch, also known as 'Experiment 626' is an alien created by Dr. Jumba Jookiba and he was the protagonist in this movie. Can't believe that his cute and adorable appearance will render him to be a bad guy in this movie. Stitch is designed to be mischievous, and his primary function was originally to destroy everything he touches. His powers include super intelligence, super strength, being fireproof and bulletproof, night vision, x-ray vision, and infrared vision. I am sure it was intentional not to reflect the true nature of Stitch in a destructive menacing manner, but it showed a lovable cuddly appearance. I supposed this is because Stitch is accepted as part of Lilo's family.

Parts assortment

26566238082_67b35120d7_o_d.jpg

The parts assortment for Stitch is very minimum. This minifigure only come in three parts and zero accessories. However, it has an accurate Stitch's reference design on the specialised moulded head and it can be easily recognisable by others. It is rather adorable due to the sheer short size of a koala bear due to the use of the short legs. Stitch comes with good back printing on his head and body which can be seen from his back view. I suspect this character could be quite popular and one of the highly sought after.

2) Presenting Alien

26632871086_cd9e9573cb_o_d.jpg

LEGO Toy Story fans are in for a nostalgic treat. The Alien from the Pizza Planet is back in action after a hiatus of six years since it was first appeared in these LEGO Toy Story sets. Alien was part of the first theatrical release of Toy Story in 1995, produced by Pixar Animation Studio and released by Walt Disney Pictures. The movies were released subsequently in part 2 and 3 in 1999 and 2010 respectively. In the first movie, the aliens are found in a claw vending machine at Pizza Planet that Buzz Lightyear climbs into. They believe the crane is a kind of deity who sometimes selects one of their kind to go to a better place. One alien in particular was picked up by Sid, which then put Buzz Lightyear in view. Sid then went after him. Woody tried to escape the machine with Buzz, but the Aliens pushed them back out, not wanting to upset The Claw. It is the most memorable scene for me and because it has large existence of it. I wonder how many of you could go out to amass an army of Aliens.

Parts assortment

26055497013_602c030ab4_o_d.jpg

The parts assortment is very basic as well. It does not have any accessories included, but comes with good back printing and from the side view, you are able to view the outline of the Alien mould. I had to open a mint polybag of 30070 Alien Spaceship to give you a fair comparison between those two designs.

As you put them side by side, the immediate obvious difference could be the eyeballs placement. The Alien on the left is the older design, while the Alien on the right is the current design. Their differences can be noticed from the space suit attire and bottom of the legs as well from their back view. Now, can you guess which one is the newer Alien design?

3) Presenting Buzz Lightyear

26566219762_857743859f_o_d.jpg

To continue the Toy Story movie, we have another new character from there and is none other than Buzz Lightyear. He is a toy space ranger hero under Star Command and basically a popular action figure. Along with Woody, he is one of the two lead characters in all three Toy Story movies. His often repeated catchphrase is "To infinity... and beyond!" He is one of the most iconic characters in Toy Story universe and the decision to re-create him in LEGO minifigure format is pretty pleasant surprise.

Parts assortment

26593975441_b97751d4bd_o_d.jpg

The parts assortment for Buzz Lightyear is pretty good and the main parts come from the building up of the space ranger armour suit. The wings are detached and require to connect to the main armour suit. Once the wings are done, you can view the full wing span from the back view as well from the top view for the helmet placement. The side view reveal this side has a printed red laser finder as well as prints on the side of the legs. While the other side show good printing excluding the red laser finder.

Buzz Lightyear has been appeared in several LEGO sets earlier until 2010. However, there is a significant design difference which reside mainly in the head. Instead of using a moulded sculpture head, Buzz Lightyear appeared in a regular minifigure head design. Thus, to give a fair comparison, I opened this mint polybag of 30073 Buzz's Mini Ship. When the parts were poured out, I found this separate sealed bag of Buzz Lightyear unique body parts and I suspect the production facility is the same as when it is being produced currently. Putting both Buzz Lightyear side by side, you will notice the contrasting difference on their heads and the rest of it looks relatively the same even from their back view. When you flip to the side view, you will noticed there is additional printing at the side for the new design. Next, you removed both of their space suits and you can see more printing differences from their torsos at the front and at the back. Both have its advantages and disadvantages and which version could you honestly prefer? I like the newer version as it can integrate well into my existing LEGO minifigures. This is just my personal preference.

4) Presenting Aladdin

26566207802_648b017a10_o_d.jpg

The next LEGO Disney movie plot for Aladdin comes from this 1992 Walt Disney Animation known as Aladdin. He was the protagonist in the movie. Aladdin was a street rat and he met this beautiful girl in the marketplace. Aladdin falls madly in love with her at first sight, but he gets into trouble when their meeting is interrupted by guards who arrest him. She reveals that she is actually Princess Jasmine. In prison, Aladdin met an old man who mentions a cave filled with treasure and that he needs Aladdin to enter it. And that's where the fun adventure begins for Aladdin.

Parts assortment

26055484083_573e065e56_o_d.jpg

The parts assortment is average. The genie lamp is the only given accessory and it was previously released before. However, I felt the design of this character is very well made. I like the overall attire and it can be quite versatile to create generic villagers. There is back printing and from the side view, it show the stylish black hair with his fez on top. I am also fond of his smirk and confident facial looks.

5) Presenting Genie

26386290680_410c94bd6c_o_d.jpg

Continuing the Aladdin plot, we have a chance to be introduced to a new character known as the Genie, a powerful magical being. He was released from a magical oil lamp by Aladdin in the collapsed Cave of Wonders. After he reveals that he can grant three wishes, Aladdin has started making plans for the Genie. I think this is a very nice movie to watch, for those who are not familiar with the fate of Genie and I thought it is best to leave it there as there are some twist plots for this classic Disney movie.

Parts assortment

26055479063_b24583fc4f_o_d.jpg

The parts assortment is average and it included the very same lamp as Aladdin. I can't blame the repetitive of this accessory since the Genie primary home is within the lamp. The reference design is pretty accurate to the real Genie and is easily recognisable due to the azure blue. You can view some of the fine golden decorated details from the back view and side view. Well, this is not the first Genie design that we have seen and I wondered which original variant could you prefer?

6) Presenting Maleficent

26632853566_156c3f533d_o_d.jpg

The dark evil character known as Maleficent has appeared. Maleficent first appeared in 1959 Sleeping Beauty, released under the Walt Disney Animated Classics series. She is the antagonist of Walt Disney's 1959 film Sleeping Beauty. She is characterised as the "Mistress of All Evil" who, after not being invited to a christening, curses the infant Princess Aurora to "prick her finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel and die" before the sun sets on Aurora's sixteenth birthday. Subsequnetly, a movie on Maleficent was released in 2014 to show a more different side of her true nature. Either way, this character is truly wonderful and well designed. This character is also my wife's favourite as she told me that her appearance is real spot-on from what she could remember.

Parts assortment

26632851946_13ba60e1c2_o_d.jpg

The parts assortment is very good. It comes with two pieces of fabric cloth to depict her robe. The outer robe is black in colour while the internal fabric is purple in colour. The horn headpiece is very nicely done up. Do note that the horn piece is made up of soft rubbery material. Her dress design upon closer look reveal a good colour contrast of black and purple together. The magical staff is also a fine piece of accessory to wield her magical powers. You can view the robe detail from the back view and side view.

7) Presenting Alice

26593926891_f3658eab0b_o_d.jpg

Now we enter into a new realm of fantasy and into the world of Alice in Wonderland. This was a 1951 movie produced by Walt Disney Productions and based on the Alice books by Lewis Carroll. There are many variations and adaptions on this movie. One of the common plot, is seeing Alice falls down a rabbit hole into Wonderland after following the White Rabbit. Meeting many characters and changing her size several times, she eventually finds herself at the trial of the Knave of Hearts as a witness. Ordered to leave by the King and Queen of Hearts, Alice argues with them, eventually claiming that they are just a pack of cards. As they swarm her, Alice awakens on the riverbank and realised that it was just a dream. Alice is one of the new Disney minifigures which I am looking forward to.

Parts assortment

26632840316_e836765551_o_d.jpg

The parts assortment is excellent. It has a brand new skirting piece for Alice and two wonderful brand new accessories which is the 'Drink Me' bottle that rapidly shrinks Alice, while the 'Eat Me' cookie that rapidly expand herself. These new accessories are lovely addition into the minifigures accessories. You can view the nice hair details from her back view and side view. Do note that there is quite an extensive usage of two-tone printing at the arms of the minifigures.

8) Presenting Cheshire Cat

26632830606_dda7ea78ef_o_d.jpg

Continuing the story of Alice in Wonderland, we get another surprising character and is none other Cheshire Cat. I am surprised to see this character as I thought Mad Hatter or White Rabbit could be significantly popular. Either way, I find Cheshire Cat to be very adorable with the well designed wide-grin smile. He is a mysterious pink and purple striped cat with a devious, mischievous personality. The Cheshire Cat has a permanent smile on his face and can disappear at will. The cat is a very odd being able to reshape his body to either amuse or frighten his visitors. He's very mysterious, and in his own way, very dark. Like all members of Wonderland, the Cheshire Cat is mad, but unlike the others, he admits it with pride. I think this will be a very popular unique character with a class of its own.

Parts assortment

26632828286_3dff37790b_o_d.jpg

The parts assortment is average but the overall design is very accurate as compared to the reference design. Thumbs up for the specialised moulded piece for Cheshire Cat. It is excellent and well recognised. The colour scheme matched very well, including the placement of the tail which can be seen from the back view and side view.

9) Presenting Daisy Duck

26055458503_d037df0073_o_d.jpg

One of the classic original Disney characters has appeared in LEGO. Simply can't believe how did they manage to sculpt this awesome highly detailed characters' heads. This will continue to marvel you in the next few minifigures. Allow me to introduce Daisy Duck. She is an anthropomorphic duck created by Walt Disney. She was created as a female counterpart and girlfriend for Donald Duck. Daisy has Donald's temper, but has far greater control of it and tends to be more sophisticated than her boyfriend. She was originally a minor character featured on special occasions in cartoons starring Donald Duck, Daisy would eventually become a recurring character in Disney productions.

Parts assortment

26053822824_b44aed56d8_o_d.jpg

The parts assortment for Daisy Duck is pretty good. It has a white duck tail which can be placed at the back. The pink ribbon is needed to help beautify Daisy Duck. You can take a moment to view the detailed minifigure effect from her back view and side view. I have to admit that it captured the essence of the character very well.

This is such an adorable baby

10) Presenting Donald Duck

26632809316_dd2cff7b7f_o_d.jpg

The next iconic Disney character in line is Donald Duck. Donald Duck is a character created by Walt Disney. He is a white anthropomorphic duck of light blue eyes with a yellow-orange bill, legs, and feet. He usually wears a sailor shirt, cap and a red or black bow tie, but no trousers at all. He is best friends with Mickey Mouse. Known for having a fiery temper, a humorous voice, and having appeared in many cartoons, films, video games, comic books and more, Donald is one of the most iconic Disney characters of all time, as well as among the most popular. True enough, now he is appearing in actual LEGO minifigure sizing.

Parts assortment

26632768216_5f811e9a0e_o_d.jpg

The parts assortment is above average. Similar to Daisy Duck, Donald Duck also has a white duck tail placed at the back. As for me, I like the blue sailor cap very much. It fit Donald Duck's head in the perfect alignment. You can see many of the fine details from his back view and side view. Viewing Donald Duck design and I could not find any flaws to it. Simply very well done.

11) Presenting Minnie Mouse

The next iconic Disney character which will be showing is Minnie Mouse. We are very near to the main highlight of this series. Minnie Mouse is an anthropomorphic mouse created by Walt Disney. She is the girlfriend of Mickey Mouse. Minnie Mouse is sweet in nature and fun-loving. She is widely recognised by her large collection of big bows of different colours that sit atop her head. In most media or production appearances, Minnie Mouse is presented as a best friend of Daisy Duck.

Parts assortment

26067409014_1a4b4ea65e_o_d.jpg

The parts assortment is pretty good especially seeing her don in the iconic dress design coloured in red with white polka dots including her pink ribbon. Her eyelash on the eye lid distinguish herself as the female counterpart. Not sure if is the same for all, but I realised the connection between the leg and torso for the new wavy skirt design appeared to be loose when they are connected together. It is exceptionally obvious when you are attempting to bend the minifigure in a sitting position. Somehow, the leg and torso will break away. It seems rather apparent for my Minnie Mouse minifigures though. Do take a moment to see the fantastic details from the back view and side view.

12) Presenting Mickey Mouse

26566166992_b1504e0762_o_d.jpg

This is the main highlight for the series and I got to admit that Mickey Mouse is extremely accurate. Anyone can just instantly recognised this iconic classic Disney character. Mickey Mouse is an animated anthropomorphic mouse created by Walt Disney in 1928. Mickey is, by far, The Walt Disney Company's most famous character and serves as the company's mascot. He is easily recognised by his red shorts with white buttons, white gloves and large yellow shoes as well as his round mouse ears. There is simply little reason, not to resist this iconic character. You do not need to be a LEGO collector in order to acquire this Mickey Mouse. A true Disney fan could definitely get this character without any hesitation.

Parts assortment

26055440843_8d2b924406_o_d.jpg

The parts assortment is nil. There are only three parts and yet these parts hold the significant iconic design of what Mickey Mouse being represent for. I can't exactly find any reason to criticise this character as TLG had managed to stay true to its original design. You can see it for yourself from his back view and side view.

13) Presenting Mr. Incredible

26055432843_759029a580_o_d.jpg

After looking at the earlier iconic Disney characters, we are here with Mr. Incredible. He is part of the movie known as The Incredibles, produced by Pixar Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures. In the movie, Mr. Incredible is a person born with superpowers. He was one of the most famous heroes of his era, and was known for his skill at fighting crime. At some point, he met and fell in love with fellow superhero Elastigirl. However, soon after the two married, bystanders who had been injured during crime-fighting attempts began to file lawsuit. The backlash forced superheroes like Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl into retirement and witness protection. Mr. Incredible resumed the name of Bob Parr, and began a civilian life with Elastigirl, now in her civilian identity as Helen Parr.

Parts assortment

26053794434_a7a3c2ea16_o_d.jpg

The parts assortment is pretty decent, especially with the unique 2x2 printed tile that state 'Doing our Part'. which I assumed that superheroes standing up and doing their part to protect the citizens from danger. The overall design is nice which you can see from his back view and side view.

14) Presenting Syndrome

26386255280_ece8704e2f_o_d.jpg

Fighting against Mr. Incredible, we have the villainous Syndrome who is the main antagonist. His real name was Buddy Pine. When he was young, Buddy approached Mr. Incredible to be his sidekick but was ultimately rejected. This rejection served as an insult to him and with his intellect, Buddy has begun to go down to a much darker path. Eventually through his ultimate robotic invention 'Omnidroids' and murdered many superheroes before Mr. Incredible. This is quite an interesting minifigure to plot good versus evil in your play setting.

Parts assortment

26053777424_d020b5ce50_o_d.jpg

The parts assortment is pretty decent. Apart from the black cape, it has an unique 2x2 printed tile which entail the mechanical controls of the deadly Omnidroid. I am fond of that accessory as it is useful to serve as computer control panels for controlling robotic stuff. As you turn to the side view, there is an utility gauntlet that used zero-point energy to forbid others' movement which is a fine design detail.

15) Presenting Peter Pan

26386248930_2fe5d21bd9_o_d.jpg

Introducing the next classic Disney character and it is the child-like Peter Pan. He made his first appearance in 1953 through an animated fantasy movie entitled Peter Pan. Ever since that release, there were many different kind of adaptions of Peter Pan. Peter Pan is a young boy who lives on the island of Neverland. He has a pixie called Tinker Bell who is his best friend and sidekick and he is the current leader of the Lost Boys. He spends most days going on adventures and battling the notorious pirate Captain Hook, which will be introduced shortly. Personally I am fond of this character very much in LEGO design due to the possible integration of elf-like warrior in flesh format. It will be a good exploration.

Parts assortment

26659419805_708116a31f_o_d.jpg

The parts assortment is quite good. Peter Pan comes with two pearl golden daggers, but I chose to equip him with just one dagger instead of both. I prefer Peter Pan to wield just a single dagger as it look quite weird for him to hold both even though the official poster encourages it. I simply just treat the other dagger as spare element. The overall design is excellent with its back printing and the fine detailing of the elf ears from the side view.

16) Presenting Captain Hook

26053887864_d39dd6ba45_o_d.jpg

Next-in-line, is the evil Captain Hook who battle against Peter Pan. Captain Hook is a full-fledged captain who is in-charge of a crew of pirates aboard the Jolly Roger. Captain Hook has long abandoned sailing the high seas in favour of having revenge on Peter Pan for ruining his life. While a worthy opponent for Peter Pan, Hook is destined to fail, sometimes because of Peter Pan's ability to fly, but more often through the bumbling actions of his mate Mr. Smee, who is unquestioningly faithful to the Captain, but is incompetent and dim-witted.

Parts assortment

26594051311_b7256e49ae_o_d.jpg

The parts assortment is pretty average but the overall design for Captain Hook is outstanding. The design is able to capture his evil grin and his fanciful red velvet outfit accompanied with his red crimson hat with a white feather atop. His left arm is equipped with a hook, courtesy of Peter Pan for causing his miserable fate. You can see his fine details of this design through his back view and side view.

17) Presenting Ursula

26632920956_835fbddcdc_o_d.jpg

This is the last Disney movie which I will be highlighting. Bringing the face of the deep oceanic bottom, there is an evil that never sleeps known as Ursula. The 1989 animated Disney movie which is based on the novel by Hans Christian Anderson is famously known as The Little Mermaid. Ursula is a villainous cecaelian sea witch who "helps" unfortunate merfolk to achieve her own goals. By nature, Ursula is very dark in tone, with a wicked sense of humour. After her banishment from Atlantica, the sea witch established herself as a physical beacon of hope towards unfortunate merpeople, allowing them to strike deals and business propositions that would supposedly result in their happiness, should they successfully fulfil their end of the bargain.

Parts assortment

26053884574_91e4f9e0a5_o_d.jpg

The parts assortment is average with the inclusion of the pearl gold trident. The overall design is excellent. This is the first time where we had seen an actual boobs in a LEGO minifigure sizing. It is quite revolutionary to be able to come up with such a well made mould for the upper leg connecting to the torso. The surrounding tentacles are menacing as observed from the back view and side view.

18) Presenting Ariel

26594030351_a10680bf0b_o_d.jpg

This is the last minifigure in LEGO Minifigures - Disney Series 1 and it is the gorgeous beautiful Ariel. Ariel is the main protagonist in the Little Mermaid movie. Ariel is a bright, spirited mermaid with a strong passion for adventure and exploration. Her tendency to explore the more mysterious depths of the ocean can lead to an array of problems to both herself, her friends, and in the confines of her personal life—as seen through her constant confrontations with her protective father, King Triton. Nevertheless, Ariel's selflessness, compassion, and intuitive way of thinking often resolves such problems, as she always takes full responsibility for her actions. Through her adventures, Ariel fell for a human named Eric and she risked everything for her true love.

Parts assortment

26053881984_9ff3cdf259_o_d.jpg

The parts assortment is good with the inclusion of the pearl shell and pink gem. That was not the main highlight for me. I rated this as one of the best minifigures in this series is because of the overall sheer accurate design of Ariel in LEGO minifigure format. This is not the first time that we have seen a Mermaid design but the entire appeal in her scarlet red long hair simply make her endearing. Her torso contain back printing which surround her lavender pearl-shell bra. You can see more of the minifigure details from the back view and side view.

Data Analysis

Given the above data which I have compiled and received, I have indicated my comprehensive analysis based on my individual viewpoint for the very first time of 18 unique characters in a single series. By buying one full complete MISB box, it will allow you to achieve three complete sets. Despite the increase of two unique minifigures in this series, I am very pleased to note that the ongoing LEGO Minifigures - Disney Series 1 is able to continue with this desirable ratio of having three full sets in a sealed box of 60.

I feel the appeals of these minifigures have achieved a brand new desriable level despite the restrictions and limitations which the LEGO CMFs Design Team has to work with. The LEGO CMFs Design Team's best judgement is based on the support of market research data and probably parts per piece count manufacturing process in order to determine the distribution ratio.

As you have noticed from the given distribution ratio, the normal spare minifigures which we normally see is a total of 12, whereas in this case, this is just 6. It also means there is few redundancy by able to eliminate the possibilities of distribution of five out of the equation. This also let us know that the distribution count has been spread out appropriately. The remaining six are probable high possibilities of people wanting more of those designs like the most iconic Mickey Mouse where every person who know and like Disney could certainly turn to Mickey Mouse. The others are Stitch and Alien which is high potential army builders. To be honest, I am not quite sure which will be the popular one in this series and I am guessing minifigures like Stitch, Cheshire Cat and Maleficent could be quite popular. This is just purely guesswork. I don't quite understand why the other 3 spare minifigures was given to Mr. Incredible, Syndrome and Genie. If given a choice, I could exchange it with Peter Pan, Minnie Mouse and Aladdin. This is just my personal preference. This is definitely my shortest brief ever on distribution ratio because it is so well balanced and I can't find any reasons to complain. This is perfect 10. I strongly believe there is enough for everyone to buy them without much stress in the open market. Because complete collectors will likely buy a box, leaving themselves with little unnecessary spares. TLG has done a great job to reduce the spares by 50%.

To conclude and summaries, based on the probability demonstrated by this review, as an example, here are the results,

High probability

1) Stitch(s)

2) Alien(s)

3) Genie(s)

4) Mickey Mouse(s)

5) Mr. Incredible(s)

6) Syndrome(s)

Total range: 40%

Each: 6.67%

Medium probability

1) Buzz Lightyear(s)

2) Aladdin(s)

3) Maleficent(s)

4) Alice(s)

5) Cheshire Cat(s)

6) Daisy Duck(s)

7) Donald Duck(s)

8) Minnie Mouse(s)

9) Peter Pan(s)

10) Captain Hook(s)

11) Ursula(s)

12) Ariel(s)

Total range: 60%

Each: 5%

The LEGO Minifigures - Disney Series 1 will be launching on the 1st May 2016 (worldwide)

26055527503_1ee18505bb_o_d.jpg

To conclude, the LEGO Minifigures - Disney Series 1 has once again impressed us with another new level of specialised crossover between LEGO and Disney and successfully integrate them into regular LEGO minifigures format. It is a dream come true for those who loved and adored Disney characters and this series is able to bridge both universe together into your regular LEGO theme or play setting. This new series will also greatly appeal non-LEGO fans and it will probably reach out to a much mass wider audience than ever before. People who are not familiar with LEGO, may not probably not familiar with Disney. Most people could instantly know who is Mickey Mouse without giving much thoughts and the push factor to be able to own such a wonderful LEGO minifigure design based on the Disney character is much greater especially with the affordable cost of per packet. This will be very effective for causal buyers who are new to LEGO and felt lukewarm reception towards Disney. My personal critic is the severe lack of new accessories. I was hoping there are more new accessories given to these minifigures. However, most of the characters are stand-alone design without additional props.

However, I still wish to see the original traditional series and not focusing more towards the licensed or singular series. Traditional LEGO CMFs series appeal widely to masses and I know for certain that TLG is not really intending to focus on the traditional stuff anymore. I could sense there is a shift in their marketing and design approach. Only time will tell if the change in the LEGO CMFs will sustain and continue to appeal to many. It is no easy challenge to be able to create, design and introduce many new creative and original designs to attract to the masses. The LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series or known as LEGO Minifigures Theme is an unique commanding class of their own, which distinguish themselves from regular LEGO Theme or special releases.

Now with a total of 307 minifigures released for the entire Series 1 to 15, the recent LEGO Movie Series, LEGO Simpsons Series 1 to 2 and the current LEGO Minifigures - Disney Series 1, not including Mr. Gold which unfortunately I do not have the blessings or lucky stars to own it till this date, and the special exclusive Toy Soldier and Zombie Skateboarder minifigures that can only be obtained through The Minifigures Character Encyclopedia books respectively. At this rate that it continue to release, I wonder how many of us need to upgrade the display shelving area to accommodate for future expansion. For myself, I don't have the space to display all of them anymore until further notice.

I truly wonder what more exciting new series will TLG have for us. Only time will tell and let's be patient about it. I am confident that it will be worth the wait.

Please note that all opinions and content shown in this Eurobricks pictorial review is from 'WhiteFang' and is not meant to represent LEGO official views. It is purely stated to share as a vantage point of a reviewer.

Please note that the The LEGO Minifigures - Disney Series 1 do not contain the placement of LEGO spare parts/accessories. This was practiced since the start of LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 3.

Summary review

Playability: 9/10 (Outstanding integration between both LEGO and Disney universe to increase playability through cross-themes.)

Design:9/10 (Excellent outstanding moulded specialised pieces for the Disney characters as well as great detailing on the designs.)

Price: 8/10 (I hope pricing will remain the same for this new Disney Series, otherwise it will hurt my wallet badly.)

Overall: 8.7/10 (Prepare yourself for this unprecedented new Disney Series and get a mint box when is possible.)

I gave it a "5" based on my Review Score Card. What about yours?

I hope everyone of you enjoyed reading this simple review of mine. Comments and Criticisms are welcomed.

I'm disappointed by Mickey and Minnie's faces. The painting is bad around the nose or eyes, they look like some bad Made in China products you could find for 50 cent at the market.

Thanks for another excellent review, Fangy! I am obviously super excited for this series and can't wait to get my hands on a complete set of these plus a few multiples of some. I really like the distribution of these as there are three complete sets in one box and most of the figures that have spares make sense to have multiples of.

By the way, I only voted the review "somewhat useful" because no matter how good the review is, I was going to get these anyway. Your reviews are always a delight to read and I hope you continue this tradition.

Thanks for the review!!

Now the only thing i'll have to do is wait until they are released and get me the figs i want.

I was thinking that they should have given Aladdin a different baseplate. They should have printed it, like it was the flying carpet. Missed opportunity right there. I think a lot more people would have wanted that boring Aladdin.

So is disney hes not a human? Is he a elf hylian thing?

Interesting question. I don't think it has ever been confirmed where Peter comes from, but it's pretty clear that he is not a regular human as we see him in the film since he can fly on his own and has a sentient shadow in addition to the pointy ears and the whole never aging thing. I like to think that Peter used to be human, but his prolonged stay in Neverland has turned him into a magical being of his own, but that's a speculation for another thread.
