These buildings are stunning. Beautiful bright colours and I love all the flowers cascading down the walls and from below the windows. This is the sort of effect I wanted to create with the flowers on my queen bricktoria pub, but it has been handled much better here.

I like how they do this too as it provides good continuity between the different sets and helps to link all the sub themes together. Another example of this is the new city cargo train has a small arctic vehicle inside one of the container crates.
-
In recent years it does seem that there is a trend towards making the annual city exploration sets, more fantastical. I can definitely imagine them doing a new city space theme covering topics like Mars exploration or something like that.

The attention to detail on this is amazing. The interior looks great. I especially like kids bunk bed and the Billy book shelves. Great work.

Here is a quote from over in the Harry Potter thread. It's being suggested that the engine is too tall to pass under the foot bridge if it is placed on to track. The height of the track causes the engine to become too tall to clear the bridge.

I would love to see a harbor theme. We have the current coast guard sets but a true harbor sub theme with cargo ships etc would be great. I suspect we are about due for a new space sub theme and maybe another run of deep sea exploration sets. Another topic I would love to see brought back is a farming, agriculture theme with tractors, farms and farm animals. It's many years since they've done anything like that. And yes, I'd love to see some more construction vehicles too.

Sorry to say but doubt we'll get a new city airport next year. The last one only came out in 2016. Also the lifecycle for new fire and police stations tends to be every 4 years so that probably rules out new versions of these for next year too. We'll probably get some sort of spin off police theme similar to this year's mountain police or the 2016 sea police sets but I doubt there will be a big main inner city police station as the last one is only 18 months old.

[MOC - IDEAS] THE OLD WORKHORSE - TRACTION ENGINE
Bricked1980 replied to Bricked1980's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I know, that really made my day when I checked the brothers brick earlier and saw my model on there. As well as that it has also been featured today in an article on zusammengebaut https://zusammengebaut.com/lego-news-von-unseren-lesern-53-zug-rost-und-steine-53776/- 65 replies

Creator Expert Cars - Rumors, Discussion, and Speculation
Bricked1980 replied to SheldonF's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I have seen the leaked image but am gonna reserve judgement until the official pics come out. Many times in the past I have looked at leaked pictures of sets and been very disappointed. Downtown Diner was a good example, those early leaks put a lot of people off the model before it had even been released. But then when the official pictures came out my opinion changed completely. -
It's very nice, and congratulations on being front paged The blue colour scheme looks lovely and the technic cables make fantastic handrails.

[MOC - IDEAS] THE OLD WORKHORSE - TRACTION ENGINE
Bricked1980 replied to Bricked1980's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Thank you, I appreciate that. Originally I was only intending to build the traction engine itself, but I added the trailer and all the other bits just to give it a bit of extra interest. I wanted it to appeal to as many different people as possible. I'm hoping that AFOL's would appreciate the details and display value of the model, while kids would enjoy the play features. Another thing going in its favor is that it contains 480 parts, so could potentially make quite an affordable set, if ever I was lucky enough that this thing reached 10,000 votes and got selected. I can at least dream! Just trying to work out now how best to promote it.- 65 replies

Thank you very much. Glad you like the postbox, couldn't do a post office without a classic British Pillar box.

Inside Tour 2018 - 4000025 Ferguson Tractor
Bricked1980 replied to BrickWild's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I love this. Not only is the model beautiful, accurate and detailed, but I also love the box art. It has a real vintage toy feel to it. Would love to get my hands on one of these. -

Here's another news article, talking about a "Top Secret" event to be held at the Leicester Square Lego Store on July 18th. http://bricksfanz.com/top-secret-event-at-lego-store-leicester-square/ It looks as if this could be where the set will be getting it's official launch. -

That new image would also seem to confirm the new car will carry both the Creator and James Bond branding. Not 100% sure but I think this is the first time we've had a movie licenced set branded under Creator expert. -

How to Promote Lego Ideas Projects
Bricked1980 replied to Bricked1980's topic in General LEGO Discussion
You're right. I think all the options are still there actually. When the site was first altered last week some of the options were gone but they have since been added back. @paupadros I took your advice and have added my Traction Engine to reddit. Unfortunately my post was removed as my account was less than 24 hours old. Ah well, I'll try again tomorrow.- 10 replies

My favourite current themes are creator (expert and 3 in 1) and city. If I had to pick my all time favourite theme I'd go with classic pirates though. This was my absolute favorite theme as a child and it was my rediscovery of all my old pirate sets as an adult that brought me back out of my dark age.

[MOC] The (in)famous Kowloon Walled City as a modular building
Bricked1980 replied to Graupensuppe's topic in LEGO Town
I think it looks great and is a really unique and original style for a modular moc. Great work.
