How to Promote Lego Ideas Projects
Bricked1980 replied to Bricked1980's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Actually I was wrong. They are still doing staff picks. A new one was added on Friday. Without them being visible on the homepage though I doubt that being chosen as a staff pick will have anywhere near as much impact as it used to.- 10 replies

You're welcome. And thanks glad you like my traction engine.

Thanks a lot, pleased you like it. I've been busy with my lego ideas project so haven't had chance to do instructions yet. It's still on my to do list though.

How to Promote Lego Ideas Projects

Thanks for the advice @paupadros and for clarifying how the trending list is sorted. You can still view trending items and staff picks but not directly from the homepage. Although staff picks are still there, I notice there haven't been any new ones since the site was overhauled, so I'm wondering if this is being phased out.- 10 replies

LEGO Ideas Discussion

I think the Saturn V struck a big chord with a lot of people and I think many folks are keen to have another set in a similar style to that one. -

The space themed sets certainly do seem to be very popular. Dang! Starting to wish I'd added rocket thrusters to my traction engine now. -

I don't know whether the portholes are the most realistic option or not but regardless of that I think I prefer the version with them. It provides some extra texturing and detail to the sides and just looks right to me. Both versions look terrific though. -

Lego has just released a new James bond teaser featuring a quote from skyfall. This could be another indication that the car will indeed be a DB5. -
How to Promote Lego Ideas Projects
Bricked1980 replied to Bricked1980's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Thanks for the tip, i will have a look at using reddit. I'd noticed I'm third on the list of the ideas homepage, although not really sure how this list is worked out. Also if you sort the list in to projects that are trending, apparently mine is number 2. This might sound like a dumb question but what does that mean exactly and how is the trending list worked out? Does that mean my project is being shared and discussed on Facebook, Twitter etc?- 10 replies

Very nice and sharp design for a great modern looking fire station. It really does look very much like the real thing in your first photo!

I'll be honest. I know nothing whatsoever about Voltron. I'm not familiar with the character or stories. I've never watched it before. I still think this looks a very cool and unique set though. It's also a decent price for the amount of parts included.
-
That's very kind of you to say that. Thanks very much. You should definitely get Assembly Square at some point if you get chance though. Think that one is my favorite official modular. By the way I have recently added another new moc to the town forum. You can find it here if you're interested.

I might see if I get chance to dig out some to post tomorrow. I've seen a few on Flickr over the past few days that I was quite impressed by. Think you mentioned a while ago that you were planning a joint project with @fillishave is that still the case?

This is really nice and quite unique. Got to agree with what others have said already. It's the roof that steals the show for me and is the first thing that I noticed about the building. The shots of your layout look great too.

Thanks for the heads up. I wonder when the old trains will be retired? The blue cargo train 60052 is on offer for just £104.99 from the lego store. It's temporarily out of stock though.

[MOC] 40 CP1408
Bricked1980 replied to andrepinto's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Absolutely jaw dropping. A real work of art. It's so detailed and realistic that it's only when you zoom in and see some studs that you realise it's built from Lego. Amazing!!! -
Looking at the colour schemes I think we both must have been channeling Trevor the Traction Engine when designing these models. That whole mini display you've put together for the Lego store is great. Your traction engine and the taxi look very good as well the railcar. Can mini figs be placed inside these models?

Hi everyone I have recently added my first project to Lego Ideas. I wondered can anyone offer me any advice on the best ways to promote my project? So far all I've done is created a topic about it on Eurobricks and shared some of the pictures in a few Flickr groups. Are there any other methods I could use to give my model some more exposure and gain more support? Are there any other Lego related sites that are good for showing MOC's or Lego Ideas projects? Also I don't use Facebook, Twitter or Instagram but do you think any of those would be worth a go? This is the first time I've used Lego Ideas so I'm learning as I go along. Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

[MOC - IDEAS] THE OLD WORKHORSE - TRACTION ENGINE
Bricked1980 replied to Bricked1980's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Well actually, during the early stages of designing this I looked through loads of images of traction engines online and did actually use some pics of Trevor as reference to help me figure out the proportions and overall shaping of the model. Thanks @Littleworlds glad you like the design and the way I presented the post.- 65 replies

LEGO Ideas Discussion
Bricked1980 replied to The Real Indiana Jones's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Good news. A message has just popped up on ideas saying they are adding back the options to sort the list of projects by most popular, most supports etc. This is due to feedback they've received from people after yesterday's update. -
LEGO Ideas Discussion
Bricked1980 replied to The Real Indiana Jones's topic in General LEGO Discussion
This is a good feature. After months of designing, promoting etc, it must be very gutting to get all the way to 10'000 and then find your project gets rejected. At least a consolation proze would soften the blow a bit. I have only been using Ideas for about a week now so hadn't even had chance to get familiar with all features of the old version. But it does seem as if they have made some odd decisions about which features to remove. They don't seem to have left many options of how to sort the order of the projects anymore. As far as I can see it's just a choice of either "Top entries" or "newest first".
