  1. Awesome MOC! Excellent look and execution of a commuter train! And great parts usage - particularly the brick separators, as @Dav1d and @Feuer Zug both also noted.
  2. Ah very nice! I'm very familiar with these type houses, as they're all over the UK, and you've captured it perfectly! And though I'm not a mod, I can tell you this is the right forum for your MOC!
  3. Huge congrats! Been watching this one for quite some time now and pleased to see it hit 10K - it was an instant support for me when I first saw it around June/July of last year... I don't remember the Vintage Tram (if you count it as a train) having any particular branding, but this is definitely the first train with wagons or coaches that's not branded to reach 10K. Best of luck in the review stage, Vilhelm22
  4. Very Nice! Interesting but effective use of the brown mini figure legs to make the trunk. Guess it's joined on to the pot with one of the really tiny technic pins?
  5. Very nice to see the actual thing running! I saw your model on the Brick Train Awards Instagram - I wish you the best of luck!
  6. Simple but effective additions - very nice! I'll be honest, I still prefer the 2015 set though...
  7. Very impressive @Ashi Valkoinen! Looking forward to seeing the lights in the future! Also on a side note, I really like those giant modulars. Guessing that as you are a trains guy though, they probably are the creation of another AFOL.... I don't think I've ever failed to be impressed by this thread. Keep up the amazing work! Vilhelm22
  8. New update - both the Elvis and World Map Art sets will be released in August (from this site).
  9. Speed champions is successful partly because it is high detail at low prices. It's a good type for people transitioning from city level of detail to 18+, as it's small and therefore cheap, high detail, and not particularly hard. I remember my much younger brother being given SC sets when young for a challenge, and friends in his class showing them... SC also appeals to adults, because they are displayable, and in a similar way to IDEAS, Architecture, and the 18+ vehicles, to those less interested in LEGO itself, but in the actual thing. Plus of course there are all us AFOLs, so the combination means that they sell incredibly well in shops around the world to many of the markets that other sets target - the KFOLs, the AFOLs, and the less interested in LEGO itself. On the actual sets, I really like the selection, but I would like to see a structure at some point - pit stop, garage etc. Was hoping we'd get one this year, but looks like not. We haven't really had one since 75889 in 2018...
  10. I thought it was only available March 6th - 14th? Lucky! I'm gonna pick it up in early March pretty immediately (though all physical stores are closed so it will take a few days to get here).
  11. Pictures would be helpful so that we can visualise the problem. 60304
  12. Somehow I missed this amazing MOC before, but I'm very impressed! The detail throughout the building is insane, and I love the amount of stuff you've packed into the carpenter's shop itself - just like a real one! I distinctly remember being incredibly impressed with your Lion Pub too back in the day, and this is a continuation of that amazing detail! The two look brilliant next to each other too.
  13. For those interested, Light My Bricks’ 10278 Police Station light kit is now available.
  14. Was expecting this to appear at some point, though haven’t seen anything on insta myself. My guess would be that it’s licensed, looking at the PPP (unless the info is just wrong, it’s extremely poor for Creator Expert/18+). It could be anything though - the Porsche 911 was no surprise in that it was a new vehicle, and Camp Nou a building, but the Botanical Collection sets and the Titanic are out of the blue surprises....
  15. Very nice @dimka_ya! It's a nice simple but effective build, and the extras like the eagle are brilliant. The positioning of the string is also very good as climbing ropes.
  16. I’m not gonna lie though, if I was an IDEAS member whose space project had hit 10k (along with all the others) I’d be even more annoyed if one guy came and took the trophy of it being made a set when so many had been rejected before than if nobody got it. Maybe that was LEGO’s thinking too?
  17. That’s the bit I was wondering too.... But anyway amazing work @michaelgale! Can’t wait for future products to become available. I’m completely RC, so I sort of need some extra stuff to start.... Might try and persuade an old friend to hand over his copy of 4559, but haven’t spoken to him in years....
  18. Very nice! Would love to see it on a modular street for comparison - it probably looks right at home there.
  19. This a set which I know, owning it myself, and I also know the tracks. The straight rails in that set are actually very old moulds, I think first used in 1966 in the Blue Era (4.5V, 3 C batteries) of trains. The grey era tracks are smoother and designed to clip together in a stronger fashion. Because the standard LEGO train track gauge is 6 studs, not 4, these will not work for curves and the tracks suggested by @Stuartn above will be needed. Unfortunately LEGO never produced straight versions of these curves, so you have three options: 1. Cut the ends of the curves so that they go up smoothly to the ends of the straight rails 2. Using jumper plates, position the curved tracks exactly 1/2 a stud away - this way should run pretty smoothly, and is the purest option if you are a serious LEGO purist 3. TrixBrix.eu sells 3D printed narrow gauge straight tracks in the style of the ones mentioned by @Stuartn, so the two could be combined. This will give you the best track if you want ultimate smoothness There's no adapter that I know of for narrow gauge from the 4.5v to modern tracks unfortunately. The straight rails that appear in the set can be bought from a multitude of places if you want more. 60052 came with 8 in the crane from that set.... I have also seen people modify 4204 to take standard gauge trains. Anyway, I hope this has been helpful and would love to see results!
  20. That's great news! It will certainly reduce shipping for me, but I'm not actually in the EU any more unfortunately...
  21. Just thought I'd mention that there are 4 projects which will make the next LEGO Ideas review relating to trains: Forth Rail Bridge (has already reached 10k) And 3 with over 9k supporters: Train Bookends The Polar Express Via Rail Canada - The Canadian I honestly don't think I want any of these to be made sets (there are other ideas I like more) but it shows support for trains all the same....
  22. Thanks! An interesting read. However I was more talking about inspiration in the village where he lived (the sort of stuff I'd know), which impacted the writing of the BFG and Danny the Champion of the World at least in part.....
  23. Just wanted to say congrats on 5k @Bricked1980! I rarely see projects with over 700 days left and you have 771 - very impressive!
  24. Out of interest, have we any idea which of these will be street cars, or have little to no ads like the F8 Tributo from 2020? I'm the sort of person for whom the more it looks like a street car, the more I like it - hence the F8 Tributo is my favourite one.
  25. If I’m being quite honest, I don’t know much more than the easily available info on the internet. I can tell you his house is called Gipsy House, and is currently lived in by Sophie Dahl, Roald Dahl’s granddaughter, her husband Jamie Cullem, and their children. Until a few years ago it was occupied by his widow, Felicity Dahl, and her Jack Russell terrier, Pesto. I don’t know if that helps to give some personal info..... Unfortunately, I can name quite a few cases of inspiration for the books, but none relating to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Most are for the BFG or Danny the Champion of the World. Sorry I haven’t been able to help more. Vilhelm22
