[MOC] Crossed Bones Ship COMPLETE! (Until disaster struck)
Murdoch17 replied to Elephant Knight's topic in Pirate MOCs
As I said on Flickr: Not the Crossed Bones! She was a good ship, but sadly, she and her crew sailed off beyond the horizon - never to be seen again. She will eventually become legendary, a tale discussed in hushed whispers at seedy waterfront taverns all over the Caribbean. Some say she hit a rogue wave and went down with all hands in a freak storm, others say she met a Spanish war fleet and was destroyed in a brutal fight. A scant few say the hand of the Almighty came down and sank her himself for some unknown reason. Whatever the case may be, nobody will ever forget her or her brave crew. So, pour one out for the Crossed Bones - she may be gone, but her memory lives on!- 23 replies

Thanks @Shiva! I whipped up this picture in case anyone (paging @Yperio_Bricks ) wanted to see how this building stacks up against my other modular buildings. (links are to each building's topic) L to R: - Up House MOD - Emmett's Manor House - Detective Office MOD (you are here!) - Edna Mode's Incredible fashion shop - Art Deco ice cream parlor (no topic yet made) - Fire Station All of these are built in real life except the last two: The Fire Station has it's parts collected, but will not be built until it's closer to Christmas. The Art Deco ice cream parlor isn't yet ready to go be ordered - only time will tell if it actually gets built.

Brickset's review of the Orient Express is up as of earlier today.
-
Thanks @Yperio_Bricks! I haven't got any pictures of it at a show yet, as I just finished it this week. Also, all my other modular buildings (UP house, Edna Mode's Incredible fashion shop, and Emmet's mansion) are also unavailable for comparison shots, as they are at a show since mid-November and will be there until early January. I will post pictures of this at a show when I have them at one, though!

Are you ok @Lion King? You're not having a stroke, right? (I'm' not joking, I'm being serious here)

"It was a Monday, a day like any other day. I left a small town for the apple in decay. It was my destiny, It's what I needed to do. They were telling me, I'm telling you. I was inside looking outside, the millions of faces, but still I'm alone. Waiting, hours of waiting, paying a penance - I was longing for home." - Foreigner and their song 'Long, long way from home' (or at least a portion of the song) (First post completely redone from square one, with a new Model T and refined style for the building. See first post for updated everything!)

Top 10 unlicensed Lego sets you want to be re-designed
Murdoch17 replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Only 10?!? This is hard, especially since you said unlicensed. (Otherwise the Santa Fe would be top of the list!). However, I will try! In no order whatsoever: 10027 - train engine shed (World City / train) 10128 - train level crossing (World City / train) 3740 / 3741 / 3742 + color brick packs - small / large locomotives + tender (My Own Train / train) 7415 - Aero Nomad (Orient Expedition / Adventurers) 5920 - Island Racer (Dino Island / Adventurers) 5935 - Island Hopper (Dino Island / Adventurers) 5956 - Expedition balloon (Jungle / Adventurers) 10184 - Town Plan (Town / 50th anniversary of Lego)- 24 replies

I thought the Battle of Kursk was the biggest tank battle of WW2 by far?
-
@Shiva was right, I just needed more hope. Well, literally one month (30 days) after the parts shipped, my ghost engineer for Haunted Train 25 has finally arrived... and he doesn't fit where I wanted to put him on the engine. So I'm going to probably reuse him (with a different head) for another engineer, possibly Henry from The Brave Locomotive animation. Thoughts?

Thanks for your kind comments @JopieK and @Lion King! Slight update: I just placed the three Bricklink orders for 99.8% of Linus today, except for the smokestack top / Belleville bucket in black (it comes in the Orient Express set that isn't out yet) and two wheels for the tender that I'm gonna procure from another place. I also found about 200 parts out of the original 373 from my own collection.

@madoka If there is no image, check Rebrickable for fan-submitted pictures by searching for the part in question. If they don't have any, you're out of luck, sorry!
-
Honestly, there is no need to shout. @R0Sch only has one off the cars done anyway, so it could be a while before the remaining 2/3's is done. Patience is key!

MOD of 76423, Hogwarts Express with Hogsmead Station
Murdoch17 replied to zephyr1934's topic in LEGO Train Tech
@dvw2 On this Rebrickable page for the set, scroll down to "sub sets". You'll see the station there. Click on it, and it has an inventory of all the parts used. -
Meet Linus, the Brave Locomotive from Andrew Chatsworth's "The Brave Locomotive" animation on YouTube. I decided to make this 2-4-0 out of LEGO after watching the short over and over, as it's an inspiring tale and very well done animation-wise. (Shout out to Peter, a friend of mine who showed me the short in the first place!) I did make some changes to Linus' design, such as adding a number to his tender and cab. (He's become engine No. 2, in case you were wondering) I also borrowed heavily from the 2019 Disney train and 2010 Toy Story Western Train Chase sets. In fact, the Toy Story loco is engine number 1 on my railroad. The rear of the steamer. (handrail parts and some printed tiles are missing in LDD) Linus' engineer from the animated short, Henry, will be built as well at some point too. (probably by using most of the CMF series 25 train-suit kid figure) The whole train together. Once Linus is built in the real world, he will be added to my Conjunction Junction train, which also has Katy Caboose (from the book 'The Caboose Who Got Loose', and heavily inspired by a @zephyr1934 MOC.) featured as well. Fun fact: This is almost a Disney train - Linus from "The Brave Locomotive" was started by Disney animator Andrew Chatsworth before he got hired, Bill Peet wrote "The Caboose who Got Loose" some years after being let go from Disney, and Conjunction Junction (part of "School House Rock!" educational TV series) was created by ABC, which is now owned by Disney. Thoughts?

It's got the dreaded plastic-axle wheels! I thought since they brought back the metal axle ones from the good ol' days in the 2023 Hogwarts Express, they would be in this set too! But alas, they did not. It's a beautiful set, but this sad fact is a major let down.

Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
Murdoch17 replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
I understand your complaints about the USPS. I had a Bricklink package that was shipped on the October 21st, that has bounced all over the country (including my town TWICE since then) and has yet to be delivered. I've given up on ever seeing it, as tracking has stopped updating as of Nov. 6th. More to the topic, those sword prices are OUCH! I really want Mr. Oz's hairpiece, but I'm not paying those prices for it! -
See further up the thread. They are old Fabuland parts not used since the 1990's at least. There are lots of things like this - old prints, non-available color / parts combos, ancient parts and so on in this project. All this means, even if it reached 10,000 votes, it would most likely make an automatic "no". Designers redoing projects on there own time for reasons unknown is one thing (such as Steamboat Willie) - forcing them to redo an entire project basically because it's impossible otherwise has got to be a factor in their thought process. It has to be. ...and before anyone says "The Orient Express did it, we can do it too!" We know for a fact that set is licensed to a company, and that company may have shouldered some of the costs. Also, to be frank, the Orient Express is a named, famous train featured in several movie, tv shows and probably video games too. Finally, signal boxes in my country of USA (and most probably outside Europe as well) looked nothing like this. So you have to account for regional splintering of the "typical" design as well. Sorry if this post offends / bothers anyone, it was not my intent... I'm also not trying to a downer-type person, I'm trying to be realistic. (I actually bit my tongue when the thread was created, but I feel now I must say the above statements.)

Option B as reddish brown can shatter quite badly. (yes, they fixed the issue at LEGO since 2019. BUT if you're buying parts from Bricklink or Brickowl, you're gambling on it splintering or not!)

Ok, Google translate is having a hard time figuring this one out... what are you saying? (Also, just so you know, we are only supposed to converse in English here on EB.)

Main post edited today, just a few minutes ago! The Blacktron command ship and second Blacktron Buzzard are built, but not complete in real life... I made a few mistakes, and the correct parts are coming with the Light Runner (so their final IRL pictures aren't done yet!). These parts and car were ordered 11/10/23, whereas the space outpost will be ordered as soon as the car's parts arrive.

That's from Elizabeth Swann Turner from 2011's Pirates of the Caribbean theme, if I'm not mistaken. Quite an expensive fig in (potentially brittle) dark red!

I need Bessie to exist! And, If we get a Kandyman (highly unlikely, IMO), I want to a pink TARDIS simply so Unikitty can have her own. Why, you ask? Why NOT have her spread happiness and joy around time / space! (However, then I'll have to have Master Frown from the Unikitty TV show team up with The Master as well...) @Lion King If you really want them, K-9 exists already and Sarah Jane Smith shouldn't be hard to MOC up.

Well, mid-century modern architecture lovers are going to be building good next year! I want to recolor 42639 as a mansion for Mr. Incredible, as it will finally give me a place to park his car!

LEGO Sci-Fi Ongoing - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
Murdoch17 replied to Lyichir's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
What a time to be alive: 1x4x3 trans-yellow panels return after 30+ years and trans-yellow garage doors arrive for the first time ever! Also, green CS helmets are finally coming! I can't wait to see what comes next!
