  1. Generally, LEGO trains just don't work well with fixed-to-the-frame couplers past a certain size, although this varies based on curves being used. (I only use official R40 curves) I could be wrong, but I don't think I've ever seen a train MOC with fixed couplers of that size. (You might want to get others opinions just in case!)
  2. Just so yo know @mDaro: The magnets need to turn with with the bogies in order to work on any curves - official or otherwise. This means you'll have to lose the staircase handrails as well.
  3. Looks VERY nice! Although, I would heavily suggest a walkaround layout, if this isn't one already... LEGO trains derail in the worst spots, and thus a non-walkaround can make your life miserable. What program did you use to design this, as I don't think it's Bluebrick? and what radius curves will you using? (or are you using official LEGO parts only?)
  4. I see bits of Alcatraz (as in the film "The Rock") and parts of Shawshank penitentiary (from the Shawshank Redemption) in this set. I bet there were lots of movie nights at LEGO HQ to get the source material right for these references. In my head canon the older gent escaping is Sean Connery's character from the Rock and the younger one is Tim Robbins' character from Shawshank.
  5. My November 19th package finally arrived December 29th... so it just BARELY made it in before years end.
  6. NPU on the Duplo, and I LOVE these MOCs! (especially the hotel and new station!) I'm going to have to bookmark these for future use! Keep up the good work, these are fantastic!
  7. This is a VERY nice update! keep up the good work @Electricsteam!
  8. As I said on Brickset: Anybody else see that helmet the miner is wearing in 60428 and think of the spacesuit from Doctor Who? You know, the one that originated in the 2006 episodes The Impossible Planet / The Satan Pit and had been used a lot since?
  9. Huh. That's really weird. But, Lego .com has been known to have issues every time something rolls out so....
  10. EDIT: Nevermind.
  11. I don't think they're going to see your post without you tagging them with an "@" symbol before their name, like this: @mouseketeer (Also, for future reference you need at least ten posts before you can private message somebody.) As the user in question were last online over three years ago, it's safe to say they probably aren't going to see your message anyway. Heck, with everything that's happened since Dec 2020, they might not even be alive anymore! Sorry to say this, but I think you're up a creek without a paddle here @bmeyer...
  12. My youngest sister would love this as a set, and she doesn't do Lego. She loved the early 2000's Clifford cartoon TV show, and I'll bet she would love this to pieces. As for my thoughts, it looks good, and accurate too. My criticisms are more for the creator of Clifford itself than for you (and you don't have to answer these, but it's just me wondering out loud as I've always had them since I was a kid): If he really he is this big, how does Emily's father pay for his food / upkeep? (Is he laundering money for the mob or something?!?) what about vets bills? (That'd have to be a SERIOUS needle to give him his shots!) Also, where in the heck do they dispose of his waste? They are on a island.... it's not like they can encase it in concrete and sink it the bottom of the ocean right? (The EPA would have a holy fit if they did) ...anyway I digress. I just have so many questions I will never get the answers for, and probably don't want them anyway if I did get them!
  13. Nice! I love the art deco look of the original, and you faithfully recreated it. That isn't easy in LEGO!
  14. You asked, and now you shall receive, @Shiva: This is not my MOC, by the way: I bought the instructions for the model from B3 customs back in 2021. I found them on my hard drive again in late July 2023 and decided to build him in LDD. Then, in mid-August, I built him in real life... and promptly forgot to take photos of the completed model for over four months. However, this issue has been rectified, as you can see. The original models' rotating hip joints (as used in the Build Better Bricks instructions) were removed from this version of the model because it was not strong enough. If the parts were worn even slightly, then the robot would not stand up under his own weight, breaking at the hip. I found this out when I built my Classic Space version of the giant in 2021. As such, the Iron Giant can no longer sit down.
  15. ...a new train for 5448 to pull is coming into view! I know the streamlined Hudson's never pulled freight in the real world. HOWEVER: The Iron Giant animated film has a New York Central streamlined Hudson pulling a coal train that is badly wrecked (accidentally) by the robot. As I have the Iron Giant model already built, this was a no-brainer to build. Along with the engine and tender, there are five coal hoppers and one caboose. I've started finding parts for the hoppers and caboose, and the latter model needs less than 10 parts until it's done. (The hoppers need just shy of seven hundred parts until they're done.) The first post has been updated completely as well with more pictures and text.
  16. He's a leaker.... Being vague and mysterious is what he does.
  17. I opened this thread, really REALLY excited hoping for new sets because the new film is coming - and was thoroughly disappointed to see I was wrong. Anyway, now that my heartbeat is back to a normal level, I'm still kinda sad the IDEAS Ecto 1 and firehouse don't work well with each other. (The firehouse bay isn't nearly long enough AFAIK.)
  18. I've watched the Ninjago TV show since it began, waited with baited breath for it to appear in LEGO Universe (R.I.P.), and have a few of the physical sets that I then modified. Ninjago has a special place in my heart, as does Adventurers - Orient Expedition which was my childhood love of the age Ninjago is marketed at now. (7 to 12) I feel a kinship to @novareb in that respect - I fondly remember pouring over official catalogs (R.I.P.) physical magazines (again, R.I.P.) and LEGO .com's sub-site, looking for my favorite theme I couldn't afford. ...anyway, I digress. I never bought the spinners, but I did find them cool. Good luck on your epic quest to card catalog completion!
  19. As it's not an official LEGO product, I doubt anyone has instructions for it. Especially since it was shut down for whatever reason. I wish you the best of luck on it.
  20. I also am having trouble with that. Are you *sure* you don't have a time machine somewhere @ColletArrow? Possibly a TARDIS in your garden, or a DeLorean in your garage? Anyway, it's a fantastic little loco, and assembled almost like a puzzle box!
  21. ...and so it begins! I started at 680 bricks for this MOC, and have 231 left to go order / find. This means I've found 449 bricks so far, or a little under 2/3 of the way complete. (Yes I used a calculator for all that math!) Sadly, any further real-world progress will have to wait until parts are ordered (or more parts are found), as I've reached an impasse. The first post has been cleaned up a lot... perhaps a bit too much?
  22. I don't think you can post Rebrickable instructions and do Lego Ideas at the same time. In the fine print at ideas they say they own your idea for four years after upload date, whether it makes it to set hood or not. Just sayin'.
  23. The first review of the Retro Food Truck GWP is up on Brickset!
  24. I personally think the Boutique Hotel is a partial homage to Café Corner (both have hotels inside, both corners, etc.)... but that's just my opinion.
