  1. We are getting off topic, but (as others have said MANY times before in other places) you do realize you can have multiple action /adventure themes running at the same time? Ninjago AND DreamZzz for example, are running concurrently and BOTH are doing quite well. If you think it's horrible, don't buy it... somebody else will probably pick up the slack! Back to topic: Disney put out an hour-long documentary on IJ around the time they released DoD to streaming. They make it emphatically clear in said documentary that IJ is over when Harrison Ford retires rom acting and or dies (which ever comes first) and they will not be recasting it. This edict comes from Kathleen Kennedy and the Disney / Lucasfilm execs directly. In my opinion: It would be insulting to Harrison Ford's legacy to recast. If they had decided to recast Marcus Brody or Henry Jones Sr. in Crystal Skull it would have divided the fans. Do that to Indiana Jones himself, and you just killed the franchise in one swift shot. In fact, I can only think of one successful franchise that does this (with multiple characters to boot!): James Bond. If you want a example in the other direction, look at the bad guy (I can't spell his name for the life of me) from the three Wizard World / Fantastic Beasts films - three films, three actors and one franchise deader than Harry Potter's parents.
  2. @StudWorks They did fix it in 2019 - they even came out with a press release at that time announcing the fix. If you're getting parts in post-2020 sealed sets or parts from PAB, they are safe. With Bricklink, Brickowl, and sealed sets from 2005-ish to 2019 you run the risk of getting defective parts in dark red or reddish brown.
  3. Building a model in brown / dark red, and hearing it crack / shatter as you assemble it is mentally excruciating. My 'Duel' semi truck MOC was that way... I can never disassemble it, as it will explode if I do..
  4. Here is a fun little poster for the engine I'm (still) working on. I've reworked the entire loco except for the tender since I last showed it. The locomotive is also now two studs shorter in length, and is going to have BBB Xtra-small wheels for the leading and trailing bogies. (the wheels you see in the picture are just stand-in's) New pistons and a redesigned fin were added on as well. It's a digital only MOC right now, but the loco will be built in real life soon. (The coaches have been moved to this loco / thread. As such, they will not be built in NYC colors.) Thoughts?
  5. Thank you, glad you like it! I assume I got the Missouri Pacific's paint scheme and GNR's Big Sky mixed up in my mind, as they are similar, after all. I was really worried I was going to get chewed out for messing this up (more at train shows than online, but still), but you've alleviated my fears @Vilhelm22! Thanks again!
  6. Do we really, REALLY have to collectively explain the difference between pirates, cowboys, fictional evil empires, and REAL evil empires again? Soviets and Nazis are NOT Darth Vader or Sauron.
  7. I decided to split my Great Northern train into two sections, with the dome car being the first part, and the other four cars being the second section. As you can see in the picture, the first section's remaining parts were ordered 12/24/23 and should (hopefully) be here before January. Sadly, the 50 wheel parts ordered from LEGO back in late November for this train are stuck in limbo. (otherwise known as New Jersey) Who knows when / if those will arrive!
  8. Same! I feel seen.
  9. In the show, I think his head detached itself from it's bipedal body and rode on little legs into the spider tank. So only the eyeball, the bracket, the slope, and clip need to fit in the spider tank - not the whole figure. I hope this helps you @Miszuq!
  10. The train is really nice, and I especially like the sloped tender. I also love the buildings in the background.. those need their own thread in the town forum to be admired!
  11. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
  12. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone!
  13. So I decided to recolor the New York Central (and by extension, ex-Santa Fe LEGO sets) coaches into the Great Northern "Blue Sky" paint scheme to go with my Ghost Engine 25... or at least, what I thought that paint scheme looked like from memory. (Pro tip: don't trust your memory and do actual research instead!) But, since I've already found a bunch of bricks I'm not changing the colors anymore. I have four kinds of cars on this train, with all having removable roof sections based on the 2013 Inside Tour set (Villy Thomsen Truck - set 4000008): - baggage - coaches (x2) - dome car - observation car The baggage car. It's actually totally empty inside, but the roof still comes off to get at the inside. These two passenger coaches have seven seats apiece, whereas the dome has five and the observation has seven seats. Also in this picture, you can see how the roof looks once removed from the car. Needless to say, these were the easiest cars to design. The dome was the hardest car to design. After a number of efforts, I elected to borrow from set 4547 - Club Car and use panels for the dome. even though the bottom floor is empty and inaccessible, I daresay this car looks pretty good. The extreme rear of the roof of this observation car was a pain to get right. There just are no parts that slope inward and down at the same time when used sideways. So I made the best of bad situation and used the next-best part I could find. (As you can see, a number of parts are missing from this train because LDD doesn't have them.) Thoughts welcome!
  14. BTS Dynamite - set 21339
  15. My order from Nov. 19th was finally marked shipped last week or so, and has been stuck in the limbo-land known as New Jersey for at least four days. The Insiders points were also a little late in getting sent to me... they arrived just two days ago. (I think they're supposed to arrive in my account when it ships from Denmark, but they didn't. I had to contact Customer Service for them to get to me.) At this point I just hope my parts arrive intact and usable, hopefully by the New Year.
  16. Sure, let's turn a PG film franchise into typical Saturday morning kids fare - featuring Nazis! You know, the guys who killed MILLIONS of innocent people and started a whole war because "reasons"? The same guys who brainwashed an entire population and subjugated many other nations because they wanted to rule the world and destroy anyone who thought / looked / sounded different than the their idea of the ideal human? Believe it or not (there are people who don't, sadly), we are all still feeling the repercussions of WWII, it's immediate aftermath, and the Nazi's policies. Don't think this idea of a TV show featuring Nazis' hasn't been tried before: The show old show "Hogan's Heroes' managed to turn them into bumbling idiots - and it could not be made today. And if you think the Soviets would be a better idea as villians, I want to bring your attention Stalin's infamous purges and the artificial famines of the 1930's in the USSR, along with the removal of anything and everything from the satellite countries to bolster Russia after the war. (They removed entire FACTORIES from the Russia controlled zones to the USSR.... and I mean whole buildings!) Stalin was cut from the same cloth as Hitler, and probably killed just as many of his own people, but in different ways. Forget it... it isn't going to happen. (sorry Mods for this off topic comment, but it needed doing!)
  17. Much better! Thank you for fixing it!
  18. @Craig Strader from what little I can see it looks cool. However: Those pictures are way, WAY too big... I'm having issues with them fitting on my monitor, and people with slower internet are going to have issues too. I think the limits on size are 800x600, but I can't recall exactly. Maybe @JopieK can help out here.
  19. Great MOC! However, are those old train 1x2x3 windows available in dark blue? If not, it's gonna cause you grief when built in real life!
  20. I was looking at my New York Central streamlined coaches and the original Santa Fe Super Chief cars that inspired them, and realized I could do a better job at the making the roof than what had been available when the Santa Fe cars were designed. I eventually decided to use the 2013 inside tour set (Villy Thomsen Truck - set 4000008) as a starting point, and copied the idea of that model's roof for my NYC coaches. The observation car gave me trouble with this new roof, as I couldn't get it to curve easily, but it eventually was made to behave for the most part... it's not perfect, but it works for me! NOTE: Two 1x2 curved slope pieces are missing from the LDD version. Thoughts?
  21. Thirded on Rouge One!
  22. I just saw WONKA today, and have this to say: If you've seen the 1971 Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory film staring Gene Wilder and liked it, go see the new Wonka movie now. It's a fantastic prequel to the original film and features quite a few moments where you'll go "Wait a second!". I went with a friend today, and they were doubtful at first suggestion of seeing it. We came out of the theatre and she said it surprised her and that she really liked it. I know I generally despise derivative films (looking at you, SW sequels trilogy), but this one really made me smile.
  23. Glad I'm not alone in thinking this way! I feel the ship has sailed on Twilight a long time ago. Add another thing to the list of ship's that Lego has long-since missed!
  24. I say Cpt. Barbossa. If we are talking about Backstory: On the positives: The man came back from being dead (with some help from a witch), was captain of the Black Pearl twice and for a longer period that it's actual owner along with managing to maroon / mutiny against Jack Sparrow at least twice. Became master of the Queen Anne's Revenge and got filthy stinkin' rich with his own pirate fleet. On the negatives: Became an undead pirate for 11 years, died, lost the Pearl (and his leg!) to Blackbeard, lost the QAR to Captain Salazar, lost his life - again! (but this time for a noble cause) If we are talking about appearances: I like his hat.
  25. You can also compile a wanted list, and it can help you determine which store has what and how much it will cost. Be sure to pay close attention to shipping when looking at stores, as some charge a lot or have crazy high minimum buy limits!
