LEGO Ideas Discussion
Murdoch17 replied to The Real Indiana Jones's topic in General LEGO Discussion
As I stated on Brickset, I would love to see the following: 5 or 8, 25, 59, 70 Stargate or Stargate, Virginia and Truckee loco, and Adams Family (for the umpteenth time), and Shrimp boat. (Because I want to make an Andrea Gail swordfish boat from the film the Perfect Storm / real life events of that night, and this is a good starting point) -
I'll echo the chorus of people saying it's beautiful! I personally love the Lego-ized versions of classic art pieces, as those are positively brilliant. Also, as an Adventurers fan I also adore the Egypt display.

They look fantastic! Keep up the good work, and hopefully you figure out the issues you're having! Friction... it's such a drag, man!

For this mid-century modern styled model I took two pictures of half of 2024 Friends set 42620 - Olly and Paisley's Family Houses - and recreated / heavily modified it in LDD. I added a back half, changed the colors, put in a fireplace, and placed new furniture everywhere. I even put in a spot to park a car by the back door! The first floor separates from the second story, but to get at the inside of the upper floor it folds open on a hinge. The rear of the house with the chimney flue visible. It was quite a pain to install that with the roof made the way it is, but it was ultimately doable... although it's not exactly what I wanted it to look like when I started. A comfy chair, standing lamp, kitchen table + chair, fireplace and trash can inhabit the first floor. The second story has a bed and Hi-Fi stereo system hooked up to a record player. Judging from the stack of rock-n-roll albums, this person loves good music! I have priced the model out and according to Bricklink it costs about $60 (US) before shipping, vsersus the set's $100. Of course, the original set has 1,126 parts, while mine has barely over 500. (506 to be exact!) It remains to be seen if I will be building this model in real life, but if I do, I will be using another 2024 set (76424 - Flying Ford Anglia) as the car that goes with it, simply because it fits the era. Thoughts?

Kings Port Advertiser and Ship List (Vol. 8, Issue 4)
Murdoch17 replied to Capt Wolf's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I've been lurking for quite a few years in this forum, commenting here and there, and the KPA threads were always interesting reads. I raise a toast to @Capt Wolf for a successful newspaper editing career, and a toast to whatever he decides to do next! Cheers! -
Yes. That's what I was referencing. Although I've not read the book, but I've seen the 70's movie. Anyway, back to the main topic.... I want the retro space robot one, the retro space lady, and the totally-normal human civilian.

Probably the last stage of the Andromeda Strain....

I love these ships! Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis were the best! (However, the less said about Stargate Universe, the better)

I genuinely don't understand? Everyone on this current 7th page of discussion, as far as I can tell, has been respectfully talking about what they would like to see, or are excited (or disappointed) about the new figs. No one has put down anyone's opinions, or said anyone was wrong for thinking what they think. Therefore, I'm very confused as to what you mean? (Apologies to the mods for my off topic post.)

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Murdoch17 replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
My opinion on the newest modular building is I like it so much, I'm making a scaled down version out of a MOD of City Hall from set 10184. (2008's Town Plan) It's gonna also have a second story and a dollhouse-opening back half. I'm throwing in references to 2004 pirates (the two map halves), Adventurers in the forms of the Re-Gou Ruby and Von Barron's picture from Haunted House, Galidor as the Picasso-like painting from modular Hotel, along with Western, Pirate, and Castle hats on display. Oh, and that's not all, but I don't want to spoil everything! -
You are correct, except for the blue CS torso. We are all stuck with Benny's scratched torso instead of a pristine one, and have been since 2014. (Unless you got the old ones from the 1980's, of course)

Thanks. It's inspired by set 3831 - Rocket Ride, from the Spongebob theme.

Marvel Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
Murdoch17 replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
The flame at the back of the goblin glider is a lighter trans-blue color. Thus, In my opinion, the windscreen is trans-dark blue. (I could be wrong, but I don't think I am.) -
I, for one, have been waiting for the female retro-astronaut for YEARS! She will go good with my 1950s rocket. Now I just need to get the male retro astronaut as well, to replace my custom space voyager figs.

@JopieK I thought this was a modular building topic... not a LAN-bashing topic! Can you step in please? -
Marvel Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
Murdoch17 replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
...(potentially) famous last words. See below for more examples of this: "This ship is unsinkable!" "Once more men, victory IS at hand!" "Oh, the garbage disposal in the sink is broken. I'll unclog it by hand" "yes, that dress makes you look fat" "A Horse! A Horse! My kingdom for a horse!" -
Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
Murdoch17 replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
I ordered a standard order on the 19th. Hopefully it ships soon, as they are train wheel bearing parts, while the metal axles and wheels themselves are already here from Bricktracks. (It would have been double the price to order everything from Lego... over $2 per axle and I needed fifty is plain ridiculous!) -
In YouTube are speculating about the end of yellow heads
Murdoch17 replied to El Garfio's topic in General LEGO Discussion
IF they did this, it will make the Great Color Switchover of 2003 and the fan backlash afterwards seem like nothing. But I think (I hope!) they learned a lesson from that debacle, and wouldn't dare touch this issue. -
[MOC] Johnny Thunder's escape from Dino Island
Murdoch17 replied to Mestari's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I get the strange feeling you're not a Thunder fan, are you? -
@mdbz It's nice, but I worry about the motors. Just a fair word of warning: If you don't start / shut them down them both a the EXACT same time (nanoseconds or less), and run them at the same speed, things will go wrong fast. Especially since you're using the sets fancy side rods. (You don't want to snap them into pieces doing this, which in all likelihood is going to happen!)

[MOC] Johnny Thunder's escape from Dino Island
Murdoch17 replied to Mestari's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Run Johnny, RUN!!! ...Ahem, Sorry about that! This is a really fantastic moc! I just hope Mr. Thunder survives. (He doesn't want that Jones guy to surpass him, does he?!?) -
It's fine. I've done it too. As long as the whole chart isn't B5 names, you're good in my book.

Action and Adventure Themes Discussion
Murdoch17 replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
(I think you posted this in the wrong place, as there is an IJ thread over in Licensed.) Anyway, the Indiana Jones theme is done, full stop. No sets are coming out in Jan. 2024, and nothing is rumored or leaked for anything further beyond that. The theme is deader than Rene Belloq at the end of Raiders.- 233 replies

I see G'Kar of Narn (and a few others) are on that chart. Who knew Babylon 5 folks were around in the middle ages? Beware the Shadows Black Falcons!
