  1. Looks awesome, love the front-end appliances.
  2. Thank you @Electricsteam! I really enjoy building in blue, (CS colors are awesome!) it's just that windows and such are so hard to find in quantity in this color! Thank you, but I actually think your Galaxy Express loco looks better than my Astrotrain diesel, as my version is just a copy of the GM Aerotrain style, but with a Baldwin Shark-nose front. Your model looks way better @Paperinik77pk! I agree it would @Stux! I'm trying to MOC out a way of having a moon railway without deviating too much from my regular Earth-based ones. Futuristic infrastructure is very hard to design, I've found. This is an older picture, from around the 13th of November. The train roof pieces aren't installed yet, and the second door isn't finished. Also, a new dome car is being added to the Classic Space Nuke-punk consist as I had some extra space in the storage box for the train and thought "Why not add something different to this train instead of another plain passenger car?" Thus, this WIP dome car was created, as being shown off by Benny. As you may have guessed, the train shown off in the first post is now obsolete. I will get the pictures up for the complete train as soon as this new car is done. (maybe by mid-December) Any thoughts?
  3. I've had the pleasure of seeing one of the depicted engine's close relative's (1929-vintage NYC 2933, a L2-d type Mohawk originally built for the Big Four Railroad until scooped up in a merger in 1936) up close, at the Museum of Transportation in St. Louis, Missouri. Here is an older picture from when they were still cosmetically resorting it in 2015. (I had permission to be in this off limits area, BTW!) It is now out of restoration and, sadly, still out in the sun five years later in 2020. (Though she's holding up pretty well to be honest!) The only other Mohawk engine left is 3001, and it's a in Elkhart, Indiana - but that's a L-3a not Glenn's Lego prototype of a L-2a... hey, @Glenn Holland, what made you chose that particular sub-type over the others that are really remaining? It's a really great model by the way.... just was wondering what made you chose it.
  4. looks awesome!
  5. Benny's Classic Space Embassy base WIP - with train and spaceships The work in progress part on this all-encompassing Classic Space base comes from: 1) there being no second train /base access gate yet, just a gaping hole 2) the Nucleus train roof pieces not being in place in this photo 3) the Astrotrain not being constructed (though it is scheduled to be!) OR 4) All of the Above. NOTE: If you answered 4, you were correct. The train roof parts are actually here on the train as of the 15th. (two days before this image was taken, on the 13th.)
  6. Not yet... no. Indeed. Thankfully, the snail got the car out of the tight spot, hopped in the car, and they drove away into the sunset at a breakneck speed. (yeah, something like that.... Incidentally, anyone got a use for two halves of a perfectly good car?)
  7. Great work! Particularly impressed with the racing pontoon boat part usage, as those parts aren't used very often it seems.
  8. Just because you see a parked train on one track doesn't mean another one isn't barreling closer on another track... See tracks - think train!* This was the inspiration for my Lego picture. It came from the 1995 BNSF calendar, featuring steam loco Frisco 1522 and BNSF diesel 1506. (Photo of the calendar by Kenny Wolff from Facebook's Friends of Frisco 1522 group.) Any thoughts? *As a disclaimer, this photo is not endorsed by Operation LifeSaver, and no Unikitties or Snails were harmed in the making of this ad.
  9. I made a map with Google Earth (should it be Google Moon?) showing the rail route. Check it and the backstories on the routes out below: Copernicus City (located in it's namesake crater on Earth's moon, in XL shape and yellow on the map), the great domed wonder of the solar system, has a rail system to get people to work at it's outlying un-domed facilities. The interstellar transport hub of Reinhold is the next stop, and is the terminus for all the public passengers / galactic tourists. (The Reinhold crater is in green here) The following two branch lines are for specific crewmembers only: The Lansberg line is for power / shield generation over the city and surrounding land areas. It also was where the original city was located, before the original founders relocated to Copernicus Crater and founded the Great Glass City as we know it today. (Lansberg is in violet / purple crater) The Gambart line is for military personnel only, as it where the top brass pour over charts and make way for the latest improvements in "laser scanner" technology. (This one in the Blue with yellow rim crater) Potential new tracks could be laid to the planned 100,000 seat stadium in the older Stadius crater (barely visible near Copernicus crater) for Sportsball events. New tracks could also be laid past the space hippies encampment at Hortensius Crater (small yellow crater), but has been continually voted down by protesting neo-hippies, as it would bring bad vibes to their region by the loud construction vehicles just to get to the ice mines of the Mare Insularum. (No one has managed to get through to them that there is no sound in a vacuum!) (Photo from Google Earth, with railroad lines drawn and story by me. The colorful moon landscape background is from early 1960's NASA maps that I thought were really cool)
  10. ALERT! Incoming Nuke-punk Classic Space train! ...This is a teaser / test. I repeat. This is only a test. If this were a REAL complete train ALERT, it would have all the rest of the train cars... which are coming sooner than you think! (I was trying to aim for the feel of one of those Civil Defense Alert / kiss your loved ones goodbye / test pattern things you'd get on your TV back during the Cold War in case of World War III.) Notes on the build so far: I'm waiting on parts for the Nucleus' train cars to photograph the engine more thoroughly. The Astrotrain is going to be built in early December, with it's pictures taken shortly thereafter.
  11. Meet AstroKitty (in blue) and PuppyNaut (in white)! I've had AstroKitty built like this since 2014 when I got Benny's Spaceship (x3) from the original LEGO Movie line. I had to find a novel solution to the head-falling-off problem. (double the body width and pretend it's a bigger spacesuit) I was very sad to see Lego never released a blue one of the upside-down 1 x 3 tile parts with hole used in the newer Unikitty! sets seen around 2018 to correct this error. I did, however, note the new arrival of Puppycorn, Unikitty's energetic younger brother from the TV show and was disappointed to see he never had a Classic Space variant, besides the "Alien" version. (which I don't count as actually being Puppycorn.) So, in short, I made one from his Dalmatian costume, made to be double wide like AstroKitty. Sadly, there is no Classic Space logo on Puppynaut, as there is on Astrokitty. (This drives my OCD nuts!) ...oh, and they have headlamps on both their helmets, to provide light in dark environments and a convenient hole for the unicorn horn to fit into. I have used what was left of the word astronaut as originally worded by LEGO, as in ASTRO goes with KITTY; so thus PUPPY gets hitched to NAUT. Thus, we get PUPPYNAUT to describe him. Any thoughts on this latest addition?
  12. Wasn't sure if this was the place to post... but here goes nothing. These are all citizens, travelers passing through Hogsmeade, or, in Tom's case - a very old Horcrux from nearby Hogwarts. NOTE: I mix flesh figs with yellow figs. I have done that forever, and consider them from parallel universes and / or times that are traversed by some magical means to get them at the same place and time. Be this a jacked-up time turner, errant portkey, or magic steam loco, it works for me. Top row (L 2 R): Hogsmeade station master w/ lantern (name unknown) - apothecary shop owner "Mr. Owens" - The Fat Controller (on holiday, not resident) - funeral director "Samuel Leech" - graveyard watchman "Mr. Smith" Second row (L 2 R): Ministry of Magic dignitary "Joseph Davis" - Dentist "Dr. Salazar Hugo" - village crackpot "Jake Roberts" (believes Hogsmeade and Hogwarts exist only in fiction... how absurd!) - sweet stuff inventor "Thomas Roberts", (Older brother of Jake Roberts. Works for Honeydukes Candy Store) - Hogsmeade founder statue. (No-one quite remembers who founded the town, but they certainly earned the statue, located outside the train station.) Third row (L 2 R): These four ladies are the local gossipers.* Names aren't important on who THEY are, but when they've got YOUR name, you have trouble coming! - Horcrux "Tom Marvolo Riddle" (DANGER: Do not approach! If you see this spectral figure in Hogsmeade or Hogwarts, contact the Ministry of Magic or Dumbledore immediately!) *In reality, my brain is about fried for today, I couldn't come up with anymore random names. So I gave up and wrote the gossip bit instead. Any thoughts on this batch of figs? I was trying to make generic-yet-somewhat-HP-looking figs. Please tell me if I succeeded or not! EDIT: Oh, and here is the station I mentioned earlier: See it here in this topic with the Hogwarts Express.... and yes, it was inspired by the Sesame Street set!
  13. sorry for the BUMP / UPDATE (and the triple post): I was inspired by the look of "123 Sesame Street" (Ideas set 21324) to redesign my Hogsmeade station again. I've taken inspiration as well from all my previous versions, such as the drain pipe from 2004's "Motorized Hogwarts Express" (set 10132) and the idea of double doors from my last MOC station from this time in 2019. The first post has been updated, and will be again once this is built in real bricks. Any thoughts?
  14. Somebody outta make a MOC of a space-bound Denny's, complete with Denny the orange spaceman running the place. Just make it at a space-truck stop with diner, like a (much better) Squidman's Pitstop on steroids! Just don't order the special! ;-)
  15. I second that vote. Oh, and while I'm here: awesome orange mech body build there @JeffBuilds!
  16. Thanks! I've just updated the first post to red o the cars of the atomic loco and the engine slightly. And to answer @JintaiZ's question from my other thread, yes, there is now inside details, as seen below and in the main post: : Inside of one of the armored passenger cars with the wall folded down The atomic loco cab features some controls, a maintenance hatch into the turbine chamber itself (DO NOT open while reactor is engaged!), and room for the crew. The cab of the Astrotrain with roof removed. Thoughts, anybody?
  17. Glad to see it's working better for you now @Electricsteam! There are always teething troubles with some designs, and some just never go away even in the real world railways! Just think if you could ask the the designers of the PRR T1, which really never overcame the slipping-at-speed problem, or the Big Boy when it was originally tried on oil firing back in steam's heyday. They never could get it right back then! (They now have got teams that are working on T1 5550 that supposedly "won't slip at speed" and the restored Big Boy 4014 burns oil, but I'm getting off topic.) Hopefully you get your model working the way you want it to without having to redesign it in any major way... though the front step might be a smidge too low, according to my eyes. I also can't wait to see the passenger cars!
  18. Just updated the first post to have another retro train added to the post. The atomic-powered Nucleus has made the hyper-jump from Nexus Force to Classic Space! I have also restructured and redone the entire first post to better fit the two trains thematically. Enjoy!
  19. I would love to see your take on a fusion streamliner @rday1982, there can never be enough Nuke-punk, diesel-punk, or steam-punk trains around! Be sure to tag me and Electricsteam when you do start a thread... I'm pretty sure he would be pretty excited about it if he started a trend! thanks @Ragana9289, but please don't forget to check out the inspiration for my model, as seen here in @Electricsteam's Atomic Streamliner thread... I don't want to steal his idea out from under him, as it is a really cool train he's developed!
  20. Sorry @JintaiZ, there are no inside features to speak of and the roof does not come off these train cars.... it just has the opening doors.
  21. Heavily inspired by @Electricsteam's long-awaited in-the-brick Atomic Streamliner project, (as seen here in this thread) I have designed my own Atomic-Age wonder called "Nucleus". It is, as the inspirational original builder once said "a fission powered turbine loco" with 4-4-2 Atlantic wheel arrangement. The Nexus Force logo piece goes on both sides of the locomotive's tender. Nucleus is owned by the Neo Nexus Force, and is a retro-futuristic stream-liner mix of old-style 2-rail technology, but with hyper-modern safety features designed specifically for use by Nexus Force personnel as a very high-speed, high-security ground transport between the northern-most city of St. Nicklaus and north-pole-hugging outpost of Ice Station Odyssey, around 590 miles away. (this all takes places on the ice-bound planet of Beta Polaris, which orbits what we here call the North Star, far away from Earth.) Thus this makes it a space train! Unlike the slower Earth trains, the Nucleus type of space-train is super-streamlined, and can go up to speeds of up to 160 MPH on it's special track, with super-elevated curves and long straight-away's over hundreds of miles, all while using Positive Train Control (PTC) on the the mostly double-track mainline, where all vehicle crossings are flyovers and switches virtually non-existent once out of St. Nicklaus city limits. This train runs along with seven identical versions of the train on the route with up to five in running order on the route and at least one in the maintenance shed / in emergency backup storage at any one time. They are named / numbered Nucleus 1 through 6. The baggage car, which usually holds anything from sled dogs in crates, to core samples of millennia-old meteorites bound for labs under armed guard. All the doors on this model open up, as shown. (The rest of the passenger cars doors on the the other cars open too, but it's only here you will see it being shown!) The passenger cars come in groups of two, jointed together by a Jacobs bogie in the middle. The observation car at the rear of the train. This train will go nicely with my Nexus Force moon base, plus my other, Classic Space themed train based on the Aerotrain, called the Astrotrain. The Nucleus train probably won't be built for a while, (orange isn't a cheap color!) but it's at least on my radar. Once again, a hearty thanks to @Electricsteam for his wonderful eight-wide model, as it inspired my six-wide one. As usual, comments, questions, and complaints are always welcome!
  22. I updated the model to have a matching one car garage between uploading the original photos and now... do you still want it @at_8829? EDIT: I completely overhauled the first post. New LDD file and pictures added!
  23. Does this count @Corydoras? It was inspired by 2012 set 3817, the Flying Dutchman from the Spongebob Squarepants theme. Captain Van Der Decken (owner of the Dutchman) has a legendary sword that allows the owner to live forever, but at the cost of his soul and for eternal service to the sword. He steals at least one soul from any ship that sights his vessel, slowly building his navy of sailors into a large and formidable force to be reckoned with over the centuries. The primary use of the navy of the dead is to help the Evil One on the battle with the forces of good at the end of time... but until then, they collect souls in their bigger-on-the-inside pirate ship. The stern, or rear of the ship features the sloped captain's quarters and the rudder. This model doesn't exist anymore, but it was my first attempt at my green pirate ship. (Formerly called the Flying Dutchman, now the Kintyre. The captain still exists though, albeit under an alias.)
  24. Just updated the first post with different mast heights. Hope you like it @Wurger49! Sorry to disappoint you @Fraunces, but this model is in the line up for building "someday", but that may change to to "sooner rather than later"... if I had more spare cash that is! Thanks you @JorstadDesigns! I just added full, billowing (yet slightly smaller than ones above them) sails to the bottom setup whereas before they were furled. How does it look now, better or worse? I also added bigger sails to fore and aft sails. (the triangle shaped ones that I'm not too sure one the name of!) If anyone can give me the proper names, please do!
  25. It's finally done! I had to wait a bit longer to order the parts (the snowplow needed work too), but it's finally done. Sorry it took so long @Legownz to get it done! First post has updated pictures and text!
