  1. Forgive me father, for I have sinned: Here is the Neighborhood Trolley model again, but this time I motorized it with a 9V motor unit for use at Gateway LUG shows. Yes, I've now broken two of my most sacred LEGO rules: 1) no 8-wide train models 2) No motors on anything What next? 3D printed train track? Oh, wait, I already did that....
  2. I just laid out the two passenger platforms this morning, by utilizing a cut-to-size 48 x 48 studs baseplate, slimmed down to be just 24 x 48 for use with the station. (Basically, it was cut in half.) The canopy and it's support apparatus are all that's left for this model. Also of note, the 4-6-0 is now a 2-6-0, as I needed two wheels for my future 2-8-0. I had to shorten the front "deck" (just in front of pistons, but behind the catcher, of which I'm not sure what it's called) otherwise it would look comical with such a large overhang. Oh, and the 4-2-4T and private car's last order should finally be here today, which will have a home on the middle platform.
  3. Real world WIP picture below: Mister Rodgers is on the left (minus his hair as it hasn't arrived yet), while the finished Daniel Tiger is on the right. The trolley parts (and Mr. Rodgers hair) should hopefully all be here by Wednesday the 14th. What does everyone think of the figures?
  4. Medium-size update: This 3-way track switch designed by 4DBrix, and printed quite nicely by OKBrickworks. It works like a charm, after 10 minutes of trying to put it together.... apparently it connects unlike Lego track in one area in-between switch sections 1 & 2, and you connect it from underneath to make it work. Me being me, I tried to click it into place like Lego track, and it made me feel pretty stupid to not have figured out sooner I was doing it wrong! The three car passenger train barely fits on the left or right tracks. (using the middle one blocks the other tracks / switch with this specific train) On the middle track will be the private car and 4-2-4T, while the Neighborhood Trolley goes on the track with the switcher and rail-mobile. Any questions?
  5. Screenshots in the first post updated as of 4/9/21. The model has been ordered for real world building, and should be here by late next week or so.
  6. Thank you @Paperinik77pk, it's not easy building trolleys / streetcars... they are the most difficult train-related subjects I have ever had to build. Also, as a side note, I just ordered this trolley alongside a Mister Rodgers mini-figure. (Daniel Tiger will have to wait for another time) To make the trolley fit more into my storyline, and to be more realistic, I gave the trolley a power pole for both ends, to connect to the invisible wires above it. (What does it ruin on when there are no power poles, the world may never know!) I just hope and pray it doesn't ruin the toy-like "look" of the MOC.
  7. "It's a wonderful day in the neighborhood!" This 8-wide model is inspired by the Neighborhood Trolley (as seen on the PBS program "Mister Rogers' Neighborhood" TV show and the animated successor "Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood") and also by this former Ideas model that I reverse engineered to make my MOC. The old ideas model was by user MrMichelin that ran out of time in 2018. The model features two wheels, eight booth-like seats, and two driver's stands for bidirectional use. This MOC also sports a double-sided sign on the roof, which will use custom stickers (eventually) to replicate the sign on top of the real-world trolley model used in "The Land of Make-Believe" segments of Mr. Rodger's show. You can place figures inside on the seats / at the controls, while the motorman's lever goes up ands down at both ends of the car to control the speed / get it to go. Mister Rogers is on the right, while Daniel Tiger is on the left. So, in the immortal words of the owners, both past and present: "Won't you be my Neighbor?" NOTES: I just finished (4/15/21) building the trolley in real life. I took the power poles off, as they were ruining the "toy-ish" look of the original studio model. Comments, Questions, & Complaints welcome!
  8. Minor update: The station will end up being a little smaller than I imagined it would be: Tracks 4 & 5 are gone for lack of room on the table... the upcoming canopy will barely fit the space as it stands now. (Not to mention the train only just fits!) The canopy will be ordered as soon as the 4-2-4T and private car / three way switch arrive.
  9. Someday, maybe it will. Thanks for the compliment too, @Paperinik77pk! Here is the original Missouri Pacific station at Glencoe, Missouri @Tube Map Central It no longer exists as a building, and this is the only known (1910 era) photo I could find, taken from the Facebook group, "Missouri railroad depot's and structures". (I had to ask if anyone had seen a picture, and this was it.)
  10. First two complete trains are up in the first post! The passenger train pulled by Number 1... …and the Rotary Snow Plow train pulled / pushed by No. 4. Plus, as an added bonus, the rail-speeder's pictures have been uploaded too. (As a side note: the private train car pulled by Number 5 (the 4-2-4T) is on order as well as of yesterday, with just the military and freight trains left to purchase.)
  11. Sorry for the late (really late) reply, @Carefree_Dude & @Roadmonkeytj, but thank you for your kind comments! I've constructed this canopy for my already-built station on my wild west layout. It will also feature the three way 3-D printed switch from OKBricks (it's actually a former 4DBricks product being printed by the OK Bricks team) and then two regular switches for expanding the tracks being used to five, but only the inner three having elevated platforms and being under the canopy. (Some 16 x 16 plates are missing, because the tolerances needed are not up to LDD requirements.) I'm confident this canopy will work in the brick though.... don't be surprised if you see this upgrade being added to the real life model within the month!
  12. It's not often you see a three-bogie engine, much less one that works on R40! You really pulled this off well, and I love the color scheme of the loco on it.... it has a classic LEGO look.
  13. Thirded! It really looks good! What's the second SP loco behind it in a couple pics? EDIT: reread the text. it's a GP60
  14. Great Galloping Goose! …and an okay rail-mobile plus sweet saddle tanker loco too! In other words, I just finished working on the eight-wide Roaring '20's-era Galloping Goose, and the semi-final round of parts are now applied to the 1950's Rail-mobile for my track inspector. Oh, and the 0-6-0ST switcher loco is now number 6, after I numbered the Goose to 8, and revised the rail-mobile to be number 7 on the motive power list. (This leaves room for the 4-2-4T in the number 5 slot.) A little later than the rest of my Wild West models (1920's vs 1890's), but still tied to the railroading timeframe I'm building in by the thinnest of threads, is this 8-wide Galloping Goose. This vehicle's front half was inspired by @hachiroku and his Indiana Jones "Raiders" staff car MOC. Here is number 8 with the doors open. Any thoughts?
  15. Main post EDITED 3/29/21 for major changes to the building, including a removable second floor and reduced building footprint to fit on 32 x 32 baseplate. Here is the new version... …versus version one. As described above, 95% of the building has been majorly changed in size and functions.
  16. Thank you @Paperinik77pk, I appreciate the compliments! The Goose *could* be motorized with 9V, but it would require a heavy remodel to do so. Oh, and that Goose should be here tomorrow afternoon or so. Below you will find another addition to my stable of Western engines / cars: I created a more realistic version of the 2016 Winter Village holiday train (set 10254) for all the train fans who didn't like the engine. I added working pistons, and more colorful (and less festive!) color scheme plus two more sets of fuel bunker-based wheels on the rear of the engine. The accompanying business car is for the WXYZ railroad president, and features a accessible interior, like the Disney Train (set 71044) it's modeled after. This private car has been given the name "Mount Clutchmore", after the tallest peak and highest point on the WXYZ line, at the tunnel under said mountain in Colorado. This locomotive is modeled after the unique C.P. Huntington of the Central Pacific railroad. The model will be numbered 6 for use on my Wild West railroad, and and features a (small) balloon stack, yellow and blue paint scheme, with red accents. This railroad office car is modeled after the dark red observation car as seen in the Disney Train LEGO set. It has been changed to a blue paint scheme, with red doors/ windows and brown trim, with a black roof. As the car has been stretched by four studs to fit the longer frame, there is more room inside. The Mount Clutchmore office car features three chairs, a table with drinks for investors / newspaper reporters, and a planter on a table at the rear-most end. Almost the whole wall is removable to get at these inside details, as shown.
  17. yes! She has her own topic here.
  18. Thanks, it is a little sad the 1x3x3 windows in black (as seen in the cancelled set) are not going to be available. Those would've been so useful in so many ways! (also, the pith helmet idea originally came from the 2012 Monster fighters Haunted House) I was torn between yellow and red, but red emulates the original dark red (of the set) more. I'm going to put a truncated (height wise) version of this sign on the roof. It should look quite nice. (NOTE: I borrowed these letters' design structure from my brother with his permission, and put them on a billboard to spell out OCTAN, as seen above. Here is a link to his Flickr feed, as he requested I add to this post.)
  19. Here is my revamped version of 60278 (the cancelled CITY set called "Crook's Hideout Raid"), modified for use by my railroad's Maintenance Of Way (MOW) department, instead of the crooks. The claw crane out in the front lot of the building was inspired by 7596 (Trash Compacter Escape). The MOW department also owns quite a few vehicles that make sure the railroad is running smoothly. The bucket truck is from 3179 (Repair Truck), dump truck is from set 7789 (Lotso's Dump Truck), drill vehicle from 7936 (Level Crossing), the bulldozer is from 60074 (Bulldozer) and the front end-loader from set 7630 (Front End-Loader). The rail mobile is inspired by 40532 (Vintage Taxi) and rolls quite well on the track with no problems in stock switches or standard R40 curves. The front of the facility. Emmet Brickowski runs the facility and it's crew like a well-oiled machine, helping to repair breakdowns in infrastructure / clean up derailments safely, securely, and in a timely manner. The front office with the break room is on the lower level. The second floor comes off to access this room. The inside , with the roof removed. Emmet's office is on the second floor. 3179 MOD - bucket truck 7630 MOD - front-end loader 7789 MOD - dump truck 7936 MOD - drilling machine 40532 MOD - vintage rail mobile 60074 MOD - bulldozer Comments, questions, and complaints welcome! EDITED 7/16/22: Added two new vehicles models along with all new photos of everything!
  20. It seems to be better now, Sorry! I am using Windows 10 with Chrome as my browser, and was browsing train tech, then Licensed and attempted to open my thread in train tech. It all was very slow, and my thread timed out. Strangely, the forum main page opened fine, as did the main index of sub-forums. Everything else was very slow, until like 10 minutes ago when I tried again and it was fine.
  21. I'm having VERY slow page load-times for every single topic / forum on this site that I can click on.... almost to the point of timing out on several of them. My internet is fine, (I checked) so what going on? More server issues like a couple days back?
  22. Can I get a "Amen" for this gentleman here?
  23. (singing ) "I've been working on the railroad All the live-long day I've been working on the railroad Just to pass the time away Can't you hear the whistle blowing Rise up so early in the morn' Can't you hear the whistle blowing Dinah, blow your horn" Now that I've got your attention, here is my latest addition to the main post, which was inspired by @Cale and his pictures of Ma & Pa inspection car 101, as seen above in one of his photos. The early '50's rail-mobile was also inspired by this fairly recent @hachiroku build here. Most of the car model is already finished, but a few parts (two black 2 x 6 tiles) for the lower-rear side skirts are still needed. The vehicle is numbered "6", for use on the WXYZ Railroad, and rolls quite well on the track with no problems in stock switches or standard R40 curves. The rear has a license plate and two coverings almost fully obscuring the rear wheels, in true retro style. This model is designed for track inspector's to get up close and personal with the railroad.
