MAJOR bump. But for a good reason! The building has finally been updated, posts have been linked to the main one, including the Sinister steam train in the train tech forum, and creepy Sinister Manor in the Town forum. The writing has also been updated, so please, take a gander at the first post!

If you think that was interesting, take a look at this thread. it's got all my Adventurers figs / backstories up to 2018 in it, along with all their rides. I'm going to revise it to bring it up to date right now!

LEGO City 2020 - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
Murdoch17 replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
Great Scott! I can't believe no one has thought of this yet! I wonder how many people are going to use the new Main Square's (set 60271) town hall coupled with the old Delorean time machine set 21103 and have it "wired" to the clock tower part to send Marty back to the future? I know I just might with my MOC Delorean! -
LEGO City 2020 - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
Murdoch17 replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
No, that's regular orange, they mean like on the 2018 passenger train set, 60197. But looking back, the first grainy leaked image of 60197 looked yellow too... but it turned out to be Bright Light Orange. (I managed to save a copy onto my hard drive) Anything's possible! -
Interesting. That and this MOC by by a Flickr builder called lemon_boy inspired me to build my own version. See it at the bottom of this post. Is this better @Pdaitabird @Laura Beinbrech @Axle? One of these are going to go where the Gatling gun car went, and another at the extreme rear of the train (behind the private car). Also, to answer @davidzq's question: I'm using the names used in Orient Expedition, along with some of the characters from my "shared universe" of Monster fighters (Major Quinton Steele), Pharaoh's Quest, (Jake Raines, Mac McCloud), and Ninjago. (the movie star turned accidental realm-hopper, Clutch Powers) The Monster Realm is one of the 16 realms (but as a sort of bridge-realm, not a full fledged one), as is Ninjago (obviously a full fledged member of that club) with 1920's Earth being a distant star system in the modern-day Ninjago realm. NOTE: To explain Clutch Powers (without going to far off track), I just say he got stuck in Monster Realm, and Ninjago suffers a hideous, world-ending catastrophe (what, is unknown even to him). What is known is that it is 100% gone. And, in 1912, he is picked up by the Monster Fighters after spending nearly a week among the darkness of the realm of monsters. Now, stuck in mid-1920's Earth as the last Ninjago resident, he tells his tale in serial format for the silent B&W theaters of the time. (with some mild embellishment!) He hopes to someday meet a ninja-hooded figure from his past that may have somehow survived the end of Ninjago.... but those odds are not looking so good as years go by. Meanwhile, the earthly researchers study the hole in space where the planet once was, and wonder... could it happen again?

LEGO City 2020 - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
Murdoch17 replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
At least the tram is using a recolor of the 2018 CITY passenger train piece in yellow. I have a MOC with just the place to use this piece! (British Rail anyone?) -
I've think it's awesome! I've been inspired to do the same, but one bigger: the skull-face of the dungeon itself is calling my name! I think what I'll do is replicate what you did, add it to the right of the skull dungeon itself, and use it alongside my upcoming pirate ship MOC as a Goonies-inspired take on a immortal (undead, or cursed?) pirate crew's lair for my Adventurers. Thanks for inspiring me!

Lego themes that we would like to happen
Murdoch17 replied to YellowCorvette's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Hey, If Adam 12 comes with the crossover with EMERGENCY! (with the firehouse and what firetrucks they used + "the squad" 51 truck), I'll buy it. They did do an episode or two crossover-wise in both shows. (I'm not a really big fan, but I know a person or two who are and who probably literally have a heart attack for such a set.) Kinda grows on ya tho.... NOTE: It's just conjecture, but I wonder if anyone could mock up a set for IDEAS. The 50th anniversary is coming up in 2022, afterall, and it did inspire a generation of firemen, and paramedics...- 451 replies

Wild West - Trains, Town, Military and mini-figures
Murdoch17 replied to Murdoch17's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
And now for a slight BUMP... This railway shed was inspired by @lightningtiger and his smaller shed from a thread so long ago I can't recall which one it was. He designed the basic Technic frame of this shed, and I ran with it to create this wooden western-style steam locomotive shed. It's gone through several revisions since first being uploaded in early May 2018, and is now on the shortlist to be built in real life, as seen below. These are all the parts left to order off BrickLink at some point in the future as the rest of them have been found in my collection. Please check out the first post (near the bottom of it) for more details on this old, yet new, model! Also, as an update on the rotary snowplow: 4 out of 5 packages should be here on Tuesday. So things are moving faster than expected!- 109 replies

4554 Metro Station Expansion (Plus little station MOC)
Murdoch17 replied to Celeste's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Really love what you've done with the yellow station, and NPU with the collectible mini-fig plates as chimney toppers for the smaller station @Legownz! About the two stations not matching schedules: if they were in different cities, they would have different schedules, as they could be in vastly different regions or on another route altogether. Not all trains / routes take the same amount of time to get to everywhere! (as for the two yellow station ones not matching: slow speed flag-stop kinda train vs long-distance high speed express, maybe?) -
Wild West - Trains, Town, Military and mini-figures
Murdoch17 replied to Murdoch17's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
First post updated to included the snowplow, new shed pictures coming soon. The engine is two parts away from done, and I have found 50% of the parts needed to build the rotary snowplow + caboose in my own supply. I just ordered the needed pieces today from BrickLink. I'm expecting to see the train completed around the weekend of August 1st, with pictures uploading sometime that weekend.... hopefully they will arrive like I think they will!- 109 replies

Benny's Classic Space models - spaceships, robots, and buildings!
Murdoch17 replied to Murdoch17's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Thanks! Here is my most recent overall view of the base, with the new command building in the shot: Except for the 30-or-so mini-figures and my 103-stud long SHIP, (which wouldn't fit in the base, or on the table!) this is everything classic space that I own. Interior views of the building coming soon! -
The Future of Lego Space. (opinions, ideas, discussion)
Murdoch17 replied to Trekkie99's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Yes, I have made my own as well! In fact, I have a whole three-page thread dedicated to mine, the LEGO Universe MMO inspired Nexus Force. I used the 2014 CITY Arctic sets and an orange version of Benny's SPACESHIP! from the original Lego movie to make it my own continuation on the story-line left open-ended by Lego in 2012 when the game was shut down abruptly. I've also used the Systar system ships (along with a similarly colored 2009 Tantive IV set) and so-not-evil Space palace along with the Unikitty TV show figs to make a version of a space theme for her royal highness, and her friends / family as seen here. I wish LEGO would return to the heady days of the 1980's and early 90's with regards to space, but as long as they keep making cool sets like the ones that can be modified to fit individual tastes (Benny's space squad, the Blacktron 3-like Vampires from NexoKnights and the Systar ship / palace) , I guess it's good enough for now.- 991 replies

I just added the brand-new real world pictures of the completely updated four car train plus it's revised locomotive as seen in the first post. Once again, a big shout-out to @TJJohn12 for his help with this project, as without his instructions I would have never been able to figure out his baggage car. As usual, comments are welcome!

Benny's Classic Space models - spaceships, robots, and buildings!
Murdoch17 replied to Murdoch17's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
This building was inspired by my brother's take on set 6398, Central Precinct HQ. He added a back staircase module (which I have removed in favor of an older 2015 Avengers tower-inspired model / MOC I made a couple weeks back), while I removed the prison cell and changed the color scheme from white and black to blue and white with trans-yellow glass. The windows and doors were also modernized, and the large spinning sensor array added to the roof. I've also added connectors to the main base walls, which means the building is fully integrated into my Classic Space base. As previously stated, the rear was inspired by set 76038, Attack on Avengers Tower, from the Age of Ultron movie. This ultimately meant that the 1990's-style model's floors had to be stretched upwards by two bricks each in height to match the newer model's floor-plan. I really like the sleek wraparound window on the top floor of the building, as it is where personal Benny's office is. He gets to look out on the space base, and marvel at how things have changed since his creation in 1984. The right side wall opens up to reveal the inside of the building. Ground floor is official meeting space, second and third floors are for monitoring the radio telescope and other such devices across the galaxy. Fourth floor is the break room, while the fifth floor is Benny's personal office. (Note: On the outdoor patio on floor three is a monument to Jens Nygaard, the gone-but-not-forgotten creator of Classic Space. See here for how the statue looks in real bricks.) The rear tower folds open for access too, and like the side wall, locks shut on a Technic pin. Here you can also see Benny's desk. Builder's notes: Well, I got to keep my big 8 x 16 computer screen in Benny's office + I got to implement that office tower I liked so much to boot. It's the best building I've built yet! Also, I've taken apart the Sanctum Sanctorum version of Benny's building to get an accurate count of how many bricks I need to buy to get this one built. Any thoughts, comments, complaints, or questions? -
First post updated with new pictures + expanded description of the base and it's eight individual sections!

New 10277-style pantographs arrived today for this electric engine, along with the new wheels that necessitated removing the center section of the cab body. ...Now I just need to make a taller box to hold it, as this is as low as the pantographs go! Here is my updated in-world description for the loco which I'm nicknaming the "GG1 of the West", after the similar famous Pennsylvania RR GG1 locomotives that were made from 1934 to 1943 that ran on the USA's Northeast Corridor until 1983: This electric engine (number 9028) was originally designed as a un-streamlined freight workhorse for use in the mountains of the Western half of the North American continent on the electrified section of the Lego-Land Rail-Road mainline back in 1925. The engine uses a 2-C+C-2 arrangement, which means single frame (really, it's split in two in the middle, as the curves were too tight to do one single piece, but that's just too technical.) mounted upon a set of two axles unpowered (the "2") and three axles powered (the "C") hinged with the ball and socket to another frame of the same design (the +). The unpowered "2" axles are at either end of the locomotive. As you can see, the three axles in the middle two sections are connected by drive rods. After serving dutifully for around seven years as a freight loco, the engine was upgraded to a fully streamline-shrouded passenger unit after another of it's eight-strong class was written off after a accident with a stuck Shell tanker truck blocking a road crossing. (Thankfully, the steeple-cab design protected the crew, who survived!) The 9028 was also given a higher gear ratio in it's trucks, to allow for the higher speeds that the passenger schedule called for. The engine's class has a reputation as a tough hauler, taking care of almost anything thrown at it in freight service, and plowing through the most impossible schedules as passenger engines. There have been times, however, when they have been helpless: In January 1952 engine 9030 and of the premier Lego-Land Rail-Road trains (The City of Heartlake) got stuck in the Rocky Mountains due to a large snowdrift on the tracks and 100-MPH winds in blizzard conditions. They got boxed in, and were stuck there for six days before rescue crews could reach them. (This actually happened to the real world City of San Francisco train in the Sierra Nevada's in January, 1952. The rotary snowplows froze to the rails trying to get through!) ....anyway. That's my story so far. Any thoughts?

Sorry for the bump, but the first post has been updated with all around new stuff including new passenger cars and a backdated (Or is it updated?) steam engine. A big shout-out is due to @TJJohn12, who, without his instructions for his combine and pictures of his E.P. Ripley engine, I wouldn't have been able to make the baggage doors on my combine, and make my steamer to the way it is now. (I really love the headlight design!) Thanks again!

Sorry for the late reply @Glassjaw, but thanks for the compliment! Here is some more recent Nexus Force stuff: The new larger radio antenna (not finished here: it's based on the Wonder Woman 1984 set, so parts are missing), Hoth shield generator building section (16 x 32 size), and ramp section (8 x 16 size) are on order as of 6/21/2020. More pictures are coming as soon as it's finished being built in real life. This model was originally a @hachiroku model of the the Nubian Royal Star-ship from Star wars Episode I, as seen here. This specific Naboo Royal Yacht (now a Ambassadorial Cruiser) has Y-wing-style engines instead of the temperamental Nubian ones for added power and a new color scheme to better fit with my Neo Nexus Force. The rear of the ship, featuring those huge Y-wing engines. (with all their original paneling still intact, which is a rarity in the Star Wars universe!) The roof folds back, landing gear come down, and the loading ramp lowers. There is a cargo area, a bridge with seating for the pilot, and a mapping / negotiation area, because this is an ambassador's ship after all. (This is supposed to come with a globe representing a map of the Systar solar system from The LEGO Movie 2, as the Nexus Force are mapping hyperspace trade routes to that far flung System from Beta Polaris.) This ship is currently being parts sourced to have this ship built IRL instead of the Classic Space version. (I like the orange look better!) Any thoughts or suggestions for future builds?

I agree with @Matt Dawson: but with a old LEGO twist: what about an (accurate, AKA dark red wheels and cow catcher) rendition of the 4-6-0 Thatcher Perkins? (not my image, gotten from Wikipedia) This engine was last seen in 1976 in the vintage large scale Hobby Theme as set 396, making it an older set than every mini-figure ever! (Picture from Brickset.)

Thanks @weeble1688! The dark blue Anglia was originally supposed to be in yellow, but I changed it at the last minute once I noticed the new bracket doesn't exist in the right color. (yet) Medium nougat might be interesting color to do it in... I'll have to look into that @Seaber! Why thank you @Jerry McGlade!
