These two trains comprise my space-train fleet for the Nexus Force, one streamlined passenger train, and one generic freight train. You can see more the Nexus Force stuff in this thread here in the Space sub-forum. It features a modular base, trucks, crawlers, and several spaceships, along with the mini-figures. (human or otherwise!) The Moonlighter train is owned by the Nexus Force, and is a retro-futuristic stream-liner mix of old-school steam technology, but with hyper-modern safety features designed specifically for use by Nexus Force personnel as a very high-speed, high-security ground transport between the northern-most city of St. Nicklaus and north-pole-hugging outpost of Ice Station Odyssey, around 500 miles away. (this all takes places on the ice-bound planet of Beta Polaris, which orbits what we here call the North Star, far away from Earth.) Thus this makes it a space train! Unlike the slower Earth trains, the Moonlighter type of space-train is super-streamlined, and can go up to speeds of up to 110 MPH (135 is the loco's top possible speed) on it's special track, with super-elevated curves and long straight-away's over hundreds of miles, all while using Positive Train Control (PTC) on the the mostly double-track mainline, where all vehicle crossings are flyovers and switches virtually non-existent once out of St. Nicklaus city limits. This train runs along with nine other identical versions of this train (10 total trains in all) on the route with up to seven in running order on the route and at least two in the maintenance shed / in emergency backup storage at any one time. They are numbered 200 through 210. The Nexus Force logo on the nose of the Moonlighter streamlined casing, (near the smokestack) and the rear of the observation car, while the engine's number (207) goes under the cab windows. The two forward tanks are for oil, and the rear tank is for water. The engine is equipped with a water scoop (like on the old New York Central steam locomotives) for refilling the water tank on the fly. There is a ladder from the tender-top deck to the coupler level behind the engine for access to the trailing passenger cars, and two ladders on either side of the steam loco for entry into the enclosed control cab. Three of these passenger cars go on the Moonlighter, with two before the dome car and one immediately after it. The recessed panels are the platform doors. One of these vista-dome cars goes in the middle of the train. (You may have noticed there are no exterior platform doors on this car. I decided not to add them because they didn't look good with the dome.) The rear observation car is currently missing it's rear curved windows, but it will have them when built IRL. The Nexus Force logo goes on the rear of this car, as previously mentioned above. After 45-ton locomotive 2011 has arranged a freight train in the Nexus force spaceport's yard, a electric main-line loco has arrived on scene to pull it's train to the some 500+ miles distant city of St. Nicklaus. This larger locomotive is numbered 99, and is running with a mobile armored cannon unit for the journey ahead, as it runs through some areas that could be ripe for an ambush by enemy forces, as you never know where the Maelstrom might have agents in deep cover or have planted ambushes alongside the line. A train was derailed and attacked last month in Avalanche Canyon by pirates, which is why the railroad is taking no more chances while it's position is being currently fortified all along the route. The other cars being pulled are: a flatcar carrying Commander Bob's 1960's sports car (going for it's yearly tune-up in town), a fully-loaded gasoline tanker, bathtub gondola with ice boulder load, and a bay-window caboose for the train's rear-end crew and a few more soldiers... just in case! This orange and white electric locomotive was inspired by the preliminary version of set 60198. (2018 Freight train) The inside is accessible via the removable roof sections. This model was inspired by this armored train MOC, that was itself inspired by the movie "Castle in the Sky" and it's armored train therein. The road vehicle model is partially inspired by Lola the car from the TV show Agents of Shield. (although this one doesn't fly) The sports car doesn't have great off-road capabilities, so it has to be trucked in on a flatcar to the remote space base. This fuel tanker is filled with gasoline or diesel fuel for use in the space base's land vehicles. Usually two or three tanker cars are sent into the base every couple weeks for refueled the on-base supply. This bathtub gondola is filled with ice boulders that have frozen ancient lifeforms trapped inside. The Nexus Force is sending them to a specialist laboratory off-world to have the DNA decoded and the beings themselves studied. Due to height clearance issues in St. Nicklaus city, regular-height cupola caboose types are forbidden. So, the bay window type is used instead. This moon base-like space base model is where the Moonlighter travels to, and was inspired by set 60036 (Arctic Base Camp), with a rooftop shield generator partially lifted from set 75098 (Assault on Hoth) and a sensor array inspired by set 76157 (Wonder Woman VS. Cheetah) The base consists of eight separate, interchangeable, modular sections, all of which have opening roof / wall sections for ease of access. These sections include (but are not limited too): a common bunk room, a spaceship control tower, a fusion generator, communications room, break room, and several more. As you can see, I joined the base to the rail-line with a short siding for freight deliveries, and for the servicing of steam locomotives on services such as the Moonlighter.

Some of the crew of Sato's ship (L to R): - Captain Sato, master of the pirate junk "Golden Bounty" - Snake Jaguar, known for his cold, calculating demeanor - Mutt the Mute or "green-eyes", It was later learned he was a non-mute spy for the Imperial Ninjago Navy. - Cyren, known as a very poor singer. Eventually joined Nadakhan's crew as a spy for Sato. - Rodney Dangerbuff, yes, that is really his name. Why do you ask? Here we see Minecraft pirate Captain Steve (also known as Peg-Leg Stevie, to differentiate himself from the famous original Steve) of the pixelated ship "Seacow". The crew are nameless and dimwitted, a curse of being former digital NPCs. They go by various nicknames the Captain gives them, but are most commonly known by the label seen above their heads: Pirate One (in middle with sash) and Pirate Two (on right in dark blue jacket). Jack Sparrow and his pirate ship "The Mighty Mouse". -
Yes indeed! Thanks, I added a second sail, a new figurehead, nameplate, and lanterns to the ship, plus I made the keel a whole brick taller. I couldn't think of anything else to do to it... I'm not sure what to call this type of ship, as it kind of reminds me of the Santa Maria from Columbus' first trip. What do you think @Mister Phes @Faladrin?

The brig Yago, as seen here and captained by Henry Smithfield. The Golden Bounty, as seen in this very topic and led by Captain Soto. Captain Hook's Jolly Roger isn't done yet, so now picture or topic... waiting on a certain flying boy for that. Is this better @Mister Phes?

You are kinda close,! @Jack Sassy! The destiny's bounty was his ship and a derelict wreck, until the ninja's made it fly. Soto was revived after being long dead by Garmadon by accident, and didn't know how to run his own (heavily modified) ship! He was last seen helping the Ninja's obtain info on Nadakhan during the Skybound season, and is still stuck in Kryptarium high security prison for unknown reasons.

I don't have the real face prints in LDD, sorry @Mister Phes. @Man with beard the shape of the rearmost sail is like that because triangular brick-built sails are VERY hard. This was the best I could do.

I thought this would be better suited in the Pirate sub-forum, because while although it's Ninjago based, it is supposed to fit in with Hook's ship and my other pirate vessels at my skull island. I also apologize for the lack of uniform background... my photography cloth is sadly not available at the moment. The following story is partially based of the Ninjago TV show and my own imagination, while the model has two cannons, nameplate, mini-figures and pirate flag added to the stock set 71705. The Golden Bounty was an identical sister pirate Junk of the Destiny's Bounty, and was the original flagship of Captain Soto for many years before it was accidentally beached on a reef near Tiger Widow Island and then purposely destroyed (blown up) to avoid the ship being refloated and used by the Imperial Navy of Ninjago. Soto then had an identical ship created by the Djinn Nadakhan, as one of his three wishes. He then double crossed the devious wish-granter, stuffing him into the Teapot of Tyran (the only thing capable of holding a djinn captive) during a pitched sea battle during a storm. He then threw the teapot into the sea inside a locked trunk. (how he did the actual catching of Nadakhan and stuffing him into the teapot remains unknown, as Soto never recorded how he did so, and professed not to remember once revived in the modern day) Once that was done, Nadakhan's crews hid their master's ship (The Misfortune's Keep) in a secret cove, and then turned themselves into authorities to be banished to other realms... all the while panning secret revenge on Soto and Ninjago itself for the imprisonment of Nadakhan. Sato and most of his crew died from exposure shortly thereafter, as they somehow moved his newer ship (the Destiny's Bounty) into a desert far from any water via magical means. Only one crewman remained alive, carrying with him the secrets of Soto's magic in a big thick book... his name was Clouse. some of the crew of Sato's ship (L to R): - Captain Soto, master of the pirate junk "Golden Bounty" - Snake Jaguar, known for his cold, calculating demeanor - Mutt the Mute or "green-eyes", It was later learned he was a non-mute spy for the Imperial Ninjago Navy. - Cyren, known as a very poor singer. The ship's indoor steering compartment, and a below decks hold for treasure. The top of the steering compartment come off in two ways: the roof is removable, as is the actual little building that houses the steering equipment. This model sub-section then opens up for easy access to the inside. You can also see Sato's pirate flag in this picture. Well, what do you think of my MOD / the storyline? @Brandon Pea yes, indeed they were, and I agree about SP 4294 looking odd, but in both cases they were a necessity for the railroad. Intense track curvature could be achieved with Garratt's, and with the cab forward it prevented asphyxiation of the crew in tunnels and snow sheds. In other places, (The "Rat Hole line" in the American southeast, forget the RR) would cause crews to lie down with wet rags on their faces so they could get through a lot of tunnels in a short distance without dying! Thanks @JintaiZ! I just updated the main post with new trains (I am currently rebuilding them 8-wide as now shown in screenshots), and a couple all-over pictures. Here is the Railroad I invented for the Western layout's history: The Wichita Xenia Yazoo & Zephyrus Rail-Road (Stock market trade name WXYZRR) was a mid-19th / early 20th century enterprise also known as the Wasted, eXausted, Y bother & Z*. (*No one could figure out an insult to the railroad that started with the letter "Z") The railroad started in Wichita, Kansas in 1868, then went straight through Xenia, Oklahoma, while then meandering into Yazoo, Colorado and barely making it into Zephyrus, New Mexico by 1875. Other stations included several army forts dotted along the route through Oklahoma and Colorado, along with scattered mining camps and agricultural towns across the maps of New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Kansas. The railroad is hardly mentioned anywhere in writings of journalists, except in scathing "letters to the editor" of various newspapers about lack of the promised service on the line in the early years. Also, the much derided company slogan "last railroad you'll ever need" did not work out well for the new railroad, but it did vastly increase questions fielded to the main office about coffin, headstone, and various other memorial shipments from all over the area from which the railroad served. It is therefore shocking the railroad lasted as long as it did, a substantial fifty-six years from incorporation in 1867, to it's sale at auction in 1923! The old WXY&Z railroad had about 35 locomotives on the books at the maximum, but most of these were already very old when purchased and broke down frequently so they were chronically in the workshop for some reason or another. In fact, the seven additional 4-4-0 locomotives purchased third-hand from engine dealers were of the long-obsolete inside-piston variety of the mid-1850's, yet were bought in the early 1870's! However, what the railroad lacked in regular service motive power, it made up for in the snow plow-train department. A single prototype of what would later be called a "Garratt" (a doubled-power-unit steam loco with a single boiler not normally found in North America) was first run on the "High Line" between Fort Legoredo, Colorado and Glencoe, New Mexico in the steep Rocky Mountains. This is where the railroad really shined, in keeping the trains running through steep mountain passes with a single experimental train with a rotary snowplow at the head end... of course, there were other plow trains, but only two rotary trains. (One would work from either end of the Glacier Gulch Pass, and meet in the middle on a passing siding. The Garrett would be on one train, and two regular locomotives pushing the other.) After 1923's closing of the railroad, it was bought wholesale by a consortium of stock brokers from Denver, with plans to redo the line with less sharp grades and more snow sheds. However, during this reconstruction, the 1929 Great Depression began, leaving half the line with old grades though most of Colorado mountains, but new grades on New Mexico were finished in time. The passenger car fleet was upgraded, but the freight engines (downgraded passenger power, really) and rotary plows remained vintage as far back as 1878 for motive power. The older inside-piston locomotives went for sale once the Depression really started up, and one was snapped up for a potential history museum in Glencoe, while the rest were scrapped. Then, a miracle happened: the movie industry intervened, and several production houses bought some of the oldest rolling stock, engines, and the line was given enough cash to stave off it's dismantlement until 1941, when trains of heavy munitions from companies on the line came rolling through for the War effort, making the line the busiest it had ever been. The profits from this, and the later 1950 / '60's movie companies use of the stunningly scenic "High Line" line for motion pictures saved the line. When the good times started to dim in the early 1970's, the railroad was jointly bought by the states of Kansas, Oklahoma, Colorado, & New Mexico for tourists, occasional movie trains, and the freight that still used the line, as the original stock broker consortium had by then been dissolved. The "new" WXYZ railroad, (the town names were shortened to just the initials for simplicity's sake) was thus founded in March 1st, 1971. It has been running, mostly non-stop and is closed during the three winter months of December, January, and February for running of the single remaining rotary snowplow to get the line ready for opening day on March 1st of every year since the early 1970's. (NOTES from the writer: Only Wichita (Kansas) and Xenia (Illinois) are real-world towns, with them being based in name ONLY on real places. Yazoo, for example, is really a river in the state of Mississippi, while Zehyrus was simply because I needed a "Z" name that sounded plausible, and the Colorado Zephyr train was on my mind at the time. This snow plow engine is next on the list to be built, which should happen sometime in February / March with the passenger, then freight, and finally military trains to follow later in Spring / Summer. The snow plow + it's tender and caboose bits are already built, with the loco 1/2 way there... the older version of the engine is donating it's parts to this endeavor. Any thoughts / ideas / suggestions to improve these would be helpful, and any comments in general are welcome!

Hey, @DrJB, that's not dark purple.... that's a very sun-faded regular blue. Almost looks dark blue to me. -
This ship was heavily inspired by set 4195 (Queen Anne's Revenge) for the ship itself and set 31109 for the brick-built sails + pirate flag. The vessel is named the "Hell Bent", and is crewed by sailors-turned-demons, led by Captain Victor "Jawbone" Blucher. It will be built after the "Silver Crab" pirate ship is done. The vessel has eight cannons ready to fire at a moments notice. The rear of the ship has the nameplate on the stern, right below the custom brick-built pirate flag. The model has a removable steering area for access to the captain's quarters, which has a desk and chair with two wall lanterns nearby. Captain Victor (the figure on the right side) lost his lower jaw after a pistol shot at a vision of The Man Upstairs rebounded unto him, and was turned into a demon (along with his crew) by said entity for his crime against nature. He also gained an painful iron jawbone as an additional punishment, and so he could communicate with his crew verbally. The Hell Bent and it's crew have roamed the 7 seas for about 28 years now, only allowed to enter a port once every seven years for a week. Just like the legendary storm-tossed Flying Dutchman and it's infernal crew, this ship is a bad omen at sea for merchants, but strangely is considered a good one for pirates, since it was a pirate ship to begin with. Usually, if the ship is sighted by a merchant ship, the crewmate who saw it will then die and join the demon-crew's ranks, but for pirates, it is allowed to get closer to exchange news of the world via bags of mail / news clippings / etc. sent over in waterproofed bags. (In reality, I'm going to use Nexo Knights lava soldiers' heads and torsos for the crew and captain.) The latest Destiny's Bounty from the Legacy subtheme of Ninjago, suitable pirate-ified for my pirate port (further up in this thread is a WIP picture of that skull-shaped location) with the new name "Golden Bounty", which was built yesterday. This makes pirate ship #3 that I've constructed, with the Minecraft, Spongebob, and Pirates of the Caribbean pirate ships (and one 4+ themed dinghy!) left to be built and / or ordered. I should have them all done by the next month or two. The "Jolly Roger" ship from the movies' 'Hook' 'Peter Pan' and 'Return to Neverland', the aforementioned Golden Bounty Ninjago junk MOD, and my Barracuda Bay-in-green MOD (called the "Yago") are already built.

This pirate ship is Captained by a pirate ancestors of Spongebob Squarepants (as Captain Bob "The Sponge" Squarepants), Patrick Star (Rick "No-beard" Star the lazy pirate lookout), Sandy Cheeks (Miss Cheeks, a fierce hand-to-hand fighter) and Squidward Tentacles, (Mr. Tentacles, the helmsman and reluctant pirate recruit) Mr. Krabs is another pirate, but off course he has his own ship, the Krusty Krab. The Silver Crab is a ship wanted by Captain Krab's, for a treasure map he engraved into the helm's wheel long ago. (unknown to everyone, however, is that bluecoat Commodore Plankton is stalking Captain Krab's ship for stealing what was originally his treasure... which is now locatable because of said engraved map on Captain Squarepants' ship.) Confused enough yet? The pirate ship has six non-firing cannon barrels, with a movable rudder and a rear sail that swings back and forth. (Miss Cheeks mini-figure's head is not in LDD, so she's headless in the first picture) The ship itself is based off a MOC of the Dying Gull from the Pirates of the Caribbean movie franchise. (specifically Dead Men Tell No Tales) Here is the instructions page where I bought them from. (That is the only MOC I've seen of the PotC ship in question, by the way.) This ship will be bought after the current ones on order are finished. (The Minecraft ship, the tavern, and the palm tree parts should arrive here very soon.) ...and yes, the whole story and background info just came out of imagination as written. No wiki sources were consulted, just what I could remember from watching the TV show when I was younger. Any thoughts, comments, and questions? (This ship will go with my other ships in my pirate port, by the way. I'm trying to cover every corner I can think of) Comparison with the MOC it is based on  What are your thoughts on this build?

Aye, I have indeed! How does this look Cap'n? (it's still a WIP) Here's a small story to tide you all over: "Curses!", said Captain Hook What the matter, Captain, you don't like the fog?" replied first mate Smee "I don't mind the fog, it's just that it's night and the fog is so much worse at night!" Plus, I can't hear if that darned ticking crocodile is close, because of that foghorn sound you're making with that infernal noisemaker!" lamented Hook. "But Captain, you threw the foghorn into the lagoon last week when I was practicing for a night such as this, Remember?" retorted Smee. Hook's face goes as white as a sheet as he cries out "Then WHO is making that noise?!?!?" (Meanwhile, high up in the ship's rigging, Peter Pan decides the jig is up and flies home to his hideout, dropping the used-up foghorn on the way, where it hits the huge crocodile silently following the ship on the head.) "Dear Journal: Day 25 of life on this god-forsaken island. I've taken to calling it Twenty-paces Island, as it is 20 paces long. I think I'm going crazy, storming around on this sandbar with no respite from the heat... I swear I heard a ticking noise late a couple nights back night...as if some animal had swallowed an alarm clock. Crazy right? What's even crazier, I saw a flying boy shortly thereafter, heading south-west overhead. I waved and shouted, but he didn't see me in the dark. The child was followed immediately by a spark of light that almost looked like a tiny fairy.... from those stories you'd hear as a child. I must be insane just for thinking that! Thank the heavens above Wilson the hermit crab is here with me. Wait. I think I sat on something just now... Oh no! WILSON!!! "

As hinted at earlier in the thread, I've built a green MOD of Barracuda Bay's ship form called the "Yago". It can be seen in this thread here, for more pictures, with a LDD file for you all to enjoy. (NOTE: some parts are missing in the file see the thread for more details.) The green feathers of my parent's talkative pet bird, Yago, (actually a Nanday Conure we rescued 11 years ago) inspired me to name the ship after him. I also tried to think of a bird shaped figure-head for the bowsprit, but failed to think of a good way of doing it... What do you think?

Will add some greenery, and post pictures when done, @Mister Phes. Thank you for your help! This lighthouse is still not done, but it is part of a larger teaser of things to come. These are three new pirate figs and some of the greenery for sprucing up Skull Rock. I'm quite proud of the torso for the left-most pirate, he is using a Legolas' figure torso. The names of the pirates are Steve Jackson, James "Jim" Hawkins (yes the same Jim Hawkins from Treasure Island), and Marion Smithy.

You should see the house band! (shown below) These four undead fellows are the house band at the captain's Daughter tavern, located at Skull Rock. Davy Jones and the Undead Immortals Band are, from left to right: - Cpt. Vanderdecken, on drums (cursed God on a trip round the horn of Africa, so God cursed him) - Corporal Punishment, on guitar (from a Spanish expedition to El Dorado) - Major Paine, on bass guitar (officer from the English Civil War) - Davy Jones, on vocals (made a deal with goddess Calypso to ferry souls to underworld) NOTE: Their instruments are made from ectoplasm and not visible to living beings, thus they are not visible here.
