Great job! Love all the functionality inside, funny torpedo mechanism . Putting it on the childish Lego Ideas website won´t help much, rather share it here on EB for discussion and to get the deserved attention .

I guess you are in the wrong forum here. Moreover I don´t like if political / religious propaganda are being mixed into this wonderful hobby .

[MOC] Aston Martin DB11

The picture from above reveals some sleek curves and nice flowing lines . To me the central panel on the bonnet looks like it belongs right there, but if you still feel uncomfortable with it, you should try another option. Generally your achieved result with the orange parts is pretty good so far. I prefer the looks of a closer paneling and a well opening door. Would that be a solution for the door hinge if to develop a deeper virtual pivot point in a parallelogram? The side view shows also a (too?) long wheelbase – it appears to me that shortening it by 1 stud sounds like a really good idea. I know what that means regarding the redesign work, even if it means to tear everything apart to the core, I´ve always come to the conclusion that such a major change is most rewarding. -
IMO this chassis serves as learning material par excellence - for beginners and advanced builders equally. You are on the right path, you made your own and and that´s why it has become so good . One thing I personally don´t like so much though are the diagonal beams, but only due to its offbeat looks. Undoubtedly they add to the rigidity of the chassis and prevent the twisting around the longitudinal axis, but maybe they won´t disturb the aesthetics of your final model... I´d prefer to make some kind of roll cage on top / a well designed stable roof construction could do the job as well.

This is near perfection, my friend! I love especially the yellow truck ! This incredible oxcart can pull 15 kg easily as demonstrated at Legoworld! Brick built Model Team style packed with modern electronics – incredible realistic looks in pair with max performance. Very sharp quality pictures made in an epic environment . And most important: you have reworked and improved again and again your favourite model - that requires a lot of patience and love to this hobby!

[MOC] Aston Martin DB11
brunojj1 replied to Jeroen Ottens's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thanks! Not to be critical, but theoretically you could save 2 knob gears, right? But sure you have your reasons to make this compromise - gearbox placed perfectly around the diff, everything works smoothly and you have 8 gears - fantastic! -
Thanks ! And I scratched my head thinking "why am I so stupid, being incapable neither of comprehending nor coming to simple solutions like that myself" ... I think it´s worth to try this one in a motorized transmission - usually a differential doesn´t withstand much torque, but here it´s trapped between two axles...

I like this robust and elegant chassis very much - especially that simple but genious gearbox and shifter ! The last render looks really awesome! If you let me make another suggestion: IMO the seats would look better in another color than DGB - what about black?

42043 C-Model - Mobile Crane

It could be worth to get a second Arocs only to build this. Excellent craftsmanship ! -
Keeping a wife can be a far more expensive hobby ... But seriously: you really don´t have to spend that much, rather study some good designs and enjoy the project. Let it take a year or two, doesn´t matter, more important is to get creative with that parts stock you have and gain some skills. After prototype A - B - C .... when the final result doesn´t have anything in common with the first one, you have improved your skills and incidentally built your dream car. @Lipko: Hard to believe The more I admire your discipline and creativity

[MOC] Aston Martin DB11
brunojj1 replied to Jeroen Ottens's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I agree with that. Let´s say a good compromise between the gapless style your Alfa was made and your Porsche consisting only of contours made of flex axles, the other extreme - is very hard to achieve. And I dislike the 42056 Porsche even more - the new panels don´t make things easier for a smooth gapless appearance, it´s the opposite - too many false compromises to be made. Maybe you could save the bonnet with this minor change: what if you move the soft axles near the central panel 1/2 stud away and put in a straight parallel? And IMO they shouldn´t overlap that panel. -
It would be nice if you would share some interesting highlighting pictures links (max width 1000 px allowed here) instead of simply document your progress. Good example from Jeroen is shown above. E.g. people like me don´t want to dive deeply into your LDD file, then rip everything apart to see all gears trying to understand it. I´m interested in your gearbox anyway . Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the update! I must say I like it way more than the real car already. Great head lamps, even better than in the Alfa. Nice bodywork shapes and very good arrangement of the orange panels - that motivates me to do it at some time in the future, I have to get some #3 connectors too. Don´t you wanna try to replace the panels on the hood by the curved 3x13 panels (it looks good though already)? Can´t wait to see it finished, but be patient anyway ! Edit: good to hear about your gearbox working like a charm -
Are you sure if it really works? As far as I know this shows a nice concept created in LDD and if it works - IMO it would mean really the pinnacle of Technic gearboxes. But I haven´t seen it working yet, nor have I seen the complete Aston Martin, therefore I´m very curious and hopefully my doubts are wrong ..

This vehicle is very cool - great drive and steering ideas ! I had a lot of fun watching that video and the little story within , thanks for sharing! -
My first guess was a 2s1p RC adaption, but that would mean a voltage about “only” 7,4V. But if you look closer, you can spot 4 contacts – therefore it´s a 3s1p – for 11,1V. IMO it must be an additional support for LiPo battery, makes sense as alternative to USB powerbank (??) That will make your Legos fly like crazy (and probably burn your motors) ...

@Didumos69: I assume the cardan tunnel consisting of frames is just preliminary? Or are you preferring to have max chassis stiffness and then design everything else around? Where do you want to put the gearbox? Being a kind of realism fanatic I´d recommend to keep the cardan as narrow as you can get, probably 5 studs only (seats 7 studs wide?). E.g. I don´t like when builders put almost everything between the seats and/or under the (too small) seats - looks unrealistic when the seats are far away from each other plus having a high dividing wall between. I have to admit though that maybe I go too far with my models regarding this issue, causing the chassis twist a bit around the longitude - not everybody likes it, but ... I guess this one is designed to be a full manual car only with all the possible rings and bells. Building a manual car MOC seriously for the first time myself, I can say it has its own very special challenges which you don´t encounter in motorized models, such as using as few parts as possible while creating rigid and complete structures, striving for proper building in the style like official models from TLC are made (or should be made )... Of course it´s not impossible to motorize any manual car, but may seem too easy on the first glance - easier to start a specified chassis from scratch IMO.

@ omardib21: Thanks for sharing your "collection" ! I´m sure the Ferrari can be improved again by simply reorganizing some parts. Thumbs and heads up ! Are you (too) serious? Your tone to comment others´ creations sounds non-supportive, over-critical and sometimes rude IMHO. Please consider that not everybody has: - the building experience that you have; - a great parts stock, access to market and corresponding budget (especially in non-Western countries); - that level of serious motivation to "professionalize" using blueprints (who has said everybody should do so?). You may know Firas Abu-Jaber - I bet even some of his models wouldn´t match the blueprints of the real cars either. Regarding this F50 - the builder didn´t claim he has built a model to keep up to any standards, win a competition or get a pro medal. He just wanted to share the FUN he has. I hope you still have some too. Simply enjoy!

Some people say graffiti is not an art, but it is art anyway. Same for this car - some will say it´s not "clean", illegal techniques, stacked beams over flex axles or whatever. I say - it´s far away from perfectionism, but it´s spectacular and recognizable, you´re having a lot of fun and therefore I like it !- 114 replies

I wonder why it was blogged just recently, because this model was part of the official Porsche design competition held by TLC / Porsche a few months ago: https://www.lego.com/en-us/rebrick/view-entry?c_id={D776AFA5-00A1-4F55-A7B3-6A07F5795B68}&a_id=7cee5848-1788-4939-b540-90f8270f2e4d&sortEntry=false There Manuel stated the following: “It's motorized with PF. You can drive it (traction), steer it, open the doors, opens the engine hood and has lights. I must say that this model doesn't have a single part cut or painted. Wheels are a regular LEGO wheel ( 6061050- black ) with stickers. Many people may think that it's a MOD of set 42039, but it isn't! When I decided to include Power Functions, I realized the nothing or almost nothing could be salvaged. I had no choice, I had to do it my way. - I have no instructions.” Unfortunately I can´t find any better description or video of it. Especially the wheels are very interesting. If these are regular wheels, then he must have put in some third party chrome rim covers. It would be great if the builder were member here and then could go deeper into some datails…

Thanks! No, there won´t be any additional shifters at the driver´s seat, at least not in this car. I have simulated fake pedals though at the steering wheel which don´t to anything. Not impossible to make them work in general, but for that type of working fake pedals behind the steering wheel (moving simultaniously, not shifting gears like in the Porsche) you would need separate connections from both shifters to be routed through the cardan. Of course such a function is a dream like in PvdB´s Koenigsegg... Could be a task for my next bigger manual car, we´ll see ...
