  1. You are right, the Type R is even more adapted to the race track than the GT3, it sits lower and has a bigger wing. Anyway, the proportions between front and rear end are the same - means approx. 2 - 3 studs difference in height. The overlay pictures reveal clearly not only that, but the roof being 1 stud too high as well. If all of that sounds picky, well - in your Ford GT we don´t see as many deviations and that´s why it´s looking so overwhelmingly good . It´s all about the "right" proportions. E.g. the designer of the real car tried to adapt the "perfect" proportions of the Ferrari 458, that´s what the NSX design is inspired by and why it has nothing to do with its predecessor. Of course I will never mind if you would contact me for cooperation - two dumb heads are better than one !
  2. Dear Lox, first of all – thanks for sharing again your fun and for having covered the NSX GT3! Let´s skip the hallelujah and go straight with the critics: Pros: - amazing color scheme, white/black/red always look very persuasive - the use of black bowed panels is refreshing - you are a very fast builder and don´t tarry too long with minor difficulties - inventive use of the suspension links as holders for the rear spoiler - you have taken the higher step with the drivetrain and achieved the best possible speed performance, very well done ! Cons: - beams over flex axles at the fenders look is way too much here - the front end is to high, especially at the edge - front grill doesn´t exist - the area below the front “window” where it borders the hood should be entirely black - the rear end is way too low - rear spoiler too big, particularly the lateral tails - the round lights within the lower air intakes are out of place I´m always respecting artistic freedom. So this criticism, which represents my personal opinion only, is meant as positive and constructive as possible, I think you could do a lot better and create almost perfection, if giving a bit more attention to such details, especially while using blueprints. As you know – 1 stud here and there can make a huge difference. All of this doesn´t leave me indifferent, because I love this car very much too and have been thinking about building it for a long time too. But between thinking and just going ahead and making it happen lays a big difference, therefore – hats off anyway !
  3. IMHO Aleh´s truck deserves big respect, at least a huge amount of work and parts have gone into it. But Lucio´s crane truck is a few levels beyond that regarding the quality. I don´t say who or what belongs to HOF or not, but if the one is being considered and the other is not, I have some doubts about the standards, sorry.. At least it´s good to know that not one single person is deciding to own preferences, a model has to undergo a closer examination process by multiple judges . If being honest, we all have some bits of (L)egoism in us. Nevertheless, I think that if you don´t build primarily what you need for yourself – it means having fun with designing, building, improving skills, always enjoying the learning by doing and finally getting the great satisfaction about the end result – you are missing the goal and can´t push the limits / be very successful. If you want recognition from others – fine, share it and get the deserved critics. But don´t scream for more flattery and glory for yourself, do yourself a favour, grow up and overcome that childish desire . Totally agree with this one. The separation has been made very clear between the 2 themes, so it should be consequently done for HOF as well.

Thanks for the LDD, I´ll take a look. And speed challenge accepted - I´m playing with 2x RC motors & 2x L motors hard coupled right now !
  5. What a cool electric car, thanks for sharing! The PF & BuWizz components herein are matching the real car in a wonderfull way in the spirit of Tesla . The speed you could achieve at this scale is pleasantly surprising! I really wanna study the drivetrain and how you managed to hide so many devices underneath the brilliant designed interiour ... Would you mind to share some pictures of the chassis / underside?
  6. And that´s the reason why many of these AFOLs wouldn´t share their creations anymore in future and invest a lot of work on instructions. It´s very sad, that Madoca seems to be their main target, him being Japanese being destroyed by the Chinese - coinsidence or not... Congratulations to the bootleg companies for shoveling the grave for the entire thing! And big thanks to TLC as well for not supporting such a brilliant designer in any way. And wow - they have built a new factory in China for 2.000 employees, in the mean while cutting personel due to revenues drop. Moving on creating big Technic sets in Winnie Pooh style - most AFOLs will love it for sure...
  7. Thanks for sharing and the interesting personal story in the description! I love this car too (+ its successor) since I´ve been playing Gran Tourismo on PS1 and you´ve replicated it so well - you have caught its soul ! Very sophisticated bodywork, ingenious suspension, lovely details everywhere, nice functions and playability. Most pleasing features are the sleeping eyes and removable HOG. I wouldn´t dare to criticize my most respected master builder , but I can´t hesitate to say: the rear part is somewhat too low compared to the original car.. But otherwise great achievement regarding the limitations of the scale! Are you planning to share instructions? I´d love to build this for my kids (and for myself of course) !
  8. At some point I tried to avoid “brushing teeth” by using a similar setup in a heavy duty drivetrain where 2 XL motors are powering the driveshaft from both sides. It resulted in a huge performance loss caused by the friction. Proper bracings are important for slack reduction. The more pinholes one axle goes through, the better alignment it gets and the less slack is given at the particular gear. To synchronize gears one should rather connect them by bypassing. In such case a better balance between slack and friction can be achieved.
  9. Agree. As well I agree regarding the roof. I like it already very much as it is. Curious about the chassis. The suspension setup looks like this and I like it !
  10. Very nice Ferrari you`re building there ! Always cool to see what you are doing with the bowed panels / 6x3 panels, now in black. Did you consider to bow the roof a little bit by connecting the 3 panels by 5L beams so that the outer panels can "hang" on 1 pin each? Then one could connect them by short flex axles some way... Regarding the headlights: I also think they rather should be 2 stud wide. And - tan interior sounds very good !
  11. This creation can´t leave me indifferent. You have mixed in all the DNA which makes it wat it is - it looks, smells and feels like pure BMW M Power! The front and rear view are truly awesome ! I like (almost) every detail of this creation, especially the well shaped fenders and the interior with its realistic 3 studs wide mid section / cardan tunnel !
  12. I was very impressed when I saw it first time and thought "this should be shared with wider audience".... All proportions seem so right, the black/white color scheme always wonderfull. Pneumatic hoses carefully applied, making the shape flow nicely . Love this MOC !

  14. Very well done, my friend ! Small changes make big difference sometimes, thanks for mentionning me ! I can´t believe you have done this car this fast, I could never keep up with you. For me this is by miles (or studs) your best creation yet, IMO the best looking orange Lego supercar so far (sorry, Dugald!), although a Ford GT shouldn´t be orange. Very interesting suspension which I´ll study later. I´m not perfectionist / purist or whatever. But can´t hesitate to issue the following (rather small) critics, which are not always welcomed by everybody, but by you as I know : - "flying" doors (again). Sorry if I couldn´t figure the whole mechanism inside, but couldn´t it have been geared down a bit / made them slower? Worm gears easily could have done the trick. I love the doors anyway! - slow speed, at least for my taste - did you think of adding a battery? That allows you to get more performance, by gearing up the drivetrain one step. But that´s my wild guess only, don´t know the weight of the car. I didn´t say anything about BuWizz, but it seems to me you and me will need it desperately in big cars... - steering wheel: a decent tilt angle would look better, agree? All the cog wheels in the interior, especially the tan colored, are quite disturbing for the look. You could have used black ones e.g. - spacings between 2L tubes on flexaxles: there are various ways to get them more tight.. Other than that, it´s always a pleasure to watch you in action, keep on the excitement !
  15. Oh, there´s no need for secrecy on that. The red shifters just fall back by gravity, the levers are being retracted by shocks behind. The whole system is rather a proof of concept, far away from a perfect working mechanism like the ones from you, or Didumos or in Jeroen´s creations . I simply wanted to build a manual car where the functions are operated from a comfortable, playable position above the rear axle - and you did it too this time .
  16. That´s a good question. Of course theoretically one should start from the wheels - they are the most important factor. Sounds a bit weird maybe, but my overall scaling depends on the width of the car. If I decide to go 25 wide (approx. 1/10 scale), I calculate the rest based on that. E.g. my LaFerrari is in fact "out of scale" - because it 1: uses too small wheels in diameter, especially the rear wheels and 2. is too long in relation to the height. But that did the trick to give it the sharp appearance similar to the real one. In my DTM cars I did the same - added 1 or 2 studs in lenght compared to the scaling - which resulted in too small wheels again. Then I´m trying to build the smallest and lowest possible wheel houses, allowing the (wobbling) wheels to turn without touching anything around (suspension not pushed down). As you can see - I´m going for many compromises for the sake of a better look - the experiences I´ve told are only to explain, not recommendations to anyone (who cares, the purists turned off already and didn´t read so far anyway ) .
  17. Sorry for being late. Hats off for all the achievements in this model - inventive gearbox, genious shifting mechanism, the paneling work - especially the front hood! The chromed wheels add a lot to the presence too (I´ve painted mine in mat silver, the outer part). Most of all I love the modularity .
  18. Very nice job again ! The front and rear view are really spectacular! I like this one more than the Chiron, even if both are not my favourites concerning the original design of the real cars. As others said - the front wheel arch ruins the look a bit, and especially the too short wheelbase which I consider as a major flaw in many of your models. Other than that it´s good to see many famous hypercars beeing covered from such a talented builder like you. There are many more out there waiting to be replicated - move on !
  19. Awesome work again! Cleanest design, nice shifting mechanism, not one expendable part used . The black/white combo allows you to hide big gaps and you did it masterfully. This is not critics - but after the LM racer and Volcano you probably may look for a challenge in some other colors with your next one ?
  20. You´re not waisting too much time, very good job so far! I was a fan of your black hypercar ever since – it has no suspension, but features some cool basic ideas, screams for a nice playability, looks very sporty and aggressive. Now I´m curious where this one is going to lead. The balloon tires and light blue body reminds of some kind of retro NY police car or something. IMO green interior is somewhat strange in contrast with light blue bodywork, but why not try something new and unusual . Probably a light blue / white combo (body) could be an option to achieve some good result?

Ridiculous to call them “models” of something, but hey - everybody relax a bit and let the children play and have fun with whatever they want, the police is very kind and tolerant around here . IMO the best looking Lego McLaren MP4 so far is the one from Dikkie Klijn, although it can´t be considered as a Technic Model and besides that is very fragile, so no real comparison is allowed here: @LEGO ADAM: don´t get discouraged, get creative no matter how many parts you own, go ahead and take a step forward by using blueprints - it´s simple as that!
  22. I´m not here to defend or criticize TLC product policy, but rather to find out what works and what doesn´t from a neutral perspective. To add something to the confusion: I don´t know if I was correct on the M-motors having problems on a V2 receiver, probably I have heard that from others. If I remember correctly from my own experience a couple years back, some M- motors worked fine during my design tests of one particular function, but then suddenly didn´t work when another function was added to the receiver, when the model was finished and ready for action. Of course the M-motor was right in the middle of everything and it was great pain to tear it out (and throw it into the garbage can ). According to the following video from our legendary genius Sheepo it seems to be the other way around – some M-motors don´t work on V1 receivers connected directly, but only with extension wires but do work on V2 receivers without problems. Further questions to all doctors who wanna help: - Why did glorious TLC discontinue the V2 utilization? - Which M-motors belong to the “updated” 2013 version (earliest production week stamped on PF parts)? - What is the advantage of the newer updated receiver generation (without V3 mark)? - Why do we get the “educational” WeDo crap instead of a completely new PF or Bluetooth system?? I probably know the answer to that one, don´t wanna speak out loud…
  23. You seem to be new to the matter, so first of all I´d like to welcome you to this interesting subject! I can understand that you don´t like to experiment too much and buy lots of all sort of PF equipment, especially the rare and expensive V2 receivers. There have been several topics on here about this sort of question: You could study Philo´s homepage as well about the main characteristics and differences between V1/V2 and motors: http://www.philohome.com/pfrec/pfcurves.htm http://www.philohome.com/motors/motorcomp.htm The max number of motors can´t be told without knowing which kind of motors you own and want to use. If you mean L motors – 2 of them can be connected at one channel without significant performance loss – compared to the V1 receiver which has a lower current limit. L-motors have a no-load current about 120mA which is much higher than the current limit of M-motors (65mA) or XL-motors (80mA). That was the reason why V2 receivers were introduced for the 9398 crawler set. M – motors are causing problems at V2 receivers for whatever reason, sometimes they don´t work at all, depends on which extensions you are using or not. These problems caused the V2 receivers to be banned from utilization in further models which is very sad btw. The question is kind of invalid for another reason too: it depends which battery you are using too –whether 9V or rechargeable 7,2V. In general you can say – the more motors you are using at one receiver, no matter if V1 or V2, the less power will be supplied to each individual motor, because all the motors have to share the limited power from 1 battery. It´s better to use 2 x V1 receivers coupled to 1 battery each, than trying to feed as many motors as possible from a single V2 receiver, although its performance is better in high load applications. If you are forced to save space for receivers and batteries – Sbrick and BuWizz would be the better options for sure.

  25. Automobile races are very much about advanced representation of a manufacturer brand. My favourite in the GTE Pro category is this Corvette C7R from the Corvette Racing team (#63 Magnussen/Garcia/Taylor and #64 Gavin/Milner/Fässler). Hopefully it can beat the Ford GT this time, even I´m having strong doubts. Besides a good performance It has a striking look, doesn´t it? Wanna have it on my shelf in a 1/8 version some day !
