  1. You probably meant 42083 ? So guys, let´s speculate! There is nothing we can be sure about, BUT we can summarize some indications which were issued in the other topic and reflect about some reasonable assumptions based on that: - the TLC designers told that there definitely will be a continuation of the Ultimate Collector Series which started by the 42056 Porsche 2 years ago - therefore it´s logical that the mysterious 42083 set can have something similar in it – let´s say another supercar in 1:8 scale - there were some hints about the replication of one of the little Speed Champions cars, for which the license is already there and / or has to be expanded in some way - the age +16 on the box is the same - we have seen supercar releases every 2 years in the past (sorry, but the Rally car doesn´t count) My wild guess is the AMG GT3 (!): One plausible reason could be: the new dark grey panels used e.g. in the Mack Anthem 42078 are being produced cost efficient in vast numbers. Why not building a whole supercar in DBG? Of course the Speed Champions series features a long row of other great supercars and IMO all of them would be great to see in an official Technic version. But I think we can exclude the red Ferraris and orange McLaren, the white Porsche as well. So which one do you think could make it into the stores and onto the collector´s shelves?
  2. Nothing is impossible, but I see many difficulties to build custom hubs for these wheels in general. Of course it would be nice to minimize the significant slack given at the official wheel hubs. But the attachment points are made specifically for them. However I would estimate that even if somebody came up with a custom hub, the steering pivot within the wheel center will be gone. The mentioned Toyota Supra A80 doesn´t need any custom / portal hubs necessarily . @shadow_ninja: looking forward to your build!
  3. You probably mean this one It was built for a large scale truck and I consider it to be rather a proof of concept. So far I haven´t seen any car builder having used it. You probably can´t add independent suspension to it. The steering mechanism shown there is operated by mini LA´s and is quite unusual and I guess it´s not perfectly useful a) in motorized applications regarding the synchronization or/and slipping actuators at the end points and b) in manual applications where you would have to turn the HOG endlessly. And of course you are right: the Porsche wheels are the only wheels in big scale which have this realistic pivot point – how grateful I am, TLC ! Indeed, I´ve bought an additional set recently (for less than 40 EUR, quite reasonable) – IMO the coolest upgrade ever in Technic, compared to the “old” wheels, which are being produced for all sort of vehicles till today. Another advantage: you can install fake (or even real) brake callipers inside. Edit: the wheels from the 8448 supercar have a similar offset too. https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=32197c01&name=Wheel 81.6 x 34 ZR Three Spoke Swirl, with Black Tire 81.6 x 34 ZR Thin Sporty Tread (32197 / 32196)&category=[Wheel & Tire Assembly]#T=C
  4. It appears to me that the speed is slower than the NSX (?). And according to the essence of other recent topics we shouldn´t be too superficial showing off the outer shell and judging an entire MOC only by trivial criteria - I would always appreciate pictures of the naked chassis, if you have taken some and not already disassembled the car . Another point concerning the doors: in the video I can see some sequences where both doors open simultaniously, another sequence shows only one door opening. Please clarify how the mechanism is working. Thanks in advance.
  5. I agree with Sariel to 100%. This forum is about UNITING Technic fans from all countries, regardless their building experience or personal preferences regarding anything related to Lego Technic with all of its aspects and developments over the decades. The opposite of expelling somebody or a group of people, shame or blame them for whatever. The supercar theme is the most popular theme amongst the so called audience (mostly consisting of car-loving MEN), so you can´t do anything about it. If you´re not interested, switch gears, move on – there is plenty more to discover on other channels. Or start your own forum wherever you want. We have had the separation with a new subforum for “scale” MOCs. The “pure” Technic replicas were not welcome there, so here we are back again, showing-off, stealing the attention from other fractions, whether you like it or not. If we talk about replicas of real vehicles, the looks are crucial. The prime example 42056 Porsche shows it clearly where the journey can go to – superb look on priority & functionality second. IMO creating a good looking bodywork requires equal building skills you would need to make a good functional chassis. If you look at a creation and it´s appealing at the first glance, you can bet the internal mechanics are equally well designed – so let´s take a closer look and enjoy the rest. If the first impression can´t get my attention, I´m not interested in the creation process, functionality, gearbox and all the more or less usefull inclinations of the front axle.
  6. I was thinking for a while, probably I shouldn´t say this, but I´m quite disappointed about this model. The scaling / proportions have gone out of control IMO. The real cars´ lenght / width (excl. mirrors) ratio: 4924/2061mm = 2,38. If I counted right, your model has the dimensions 82/29 studds = 2,82 ratio... Anyway, again it´s quite an accomplishment to build an entire big model at this unbelievable speed. It takes me a month to finish only the front or one door of my car, try-and-error approx. 10-15 times for a bonnet or a door mechanism.. Are the wheels just normal or are they painted / chromed with dark purple?
  7. I definitely prefer gapless looks of a model, especially when it represents a replica of a real vehicle. Areas around wheel arches usually are very hard to fill out – one of my biggest challenges in bodyworking. But IMO not least the technical marvels inside a MOC can be more interesting when they can´t be seen at the first glance. The functions can make one curious about what´s inside which can be examined by a closer second look. The model then needs to be grabbed, opened, turned around and so on. We can observe that the approach with the 42056 Porsche also pretends to cover gaps as much as possible. Even if many people complain about the gearbox and engine being almost invisible there, I appreciate that. The more difficult it may become to fill the ugly gaps around its big fender panels. My favorite “gapless” builder is Dugald with his Aston Martin. As far as I know some of his genious building techniques are solid, e.g. even if attached at one point only, and not as far “illegal” than from his brother Lox. The more traditional look with flex axles and some random panels here and there is something most of us have got used to. But it needs a lot of artistic skills to make you easily overlook the gaps. IMO one perfect example is the recent Ferrari from Jeroen Ottens!
  8. The question from Johny was how to "motorize 42077 and turn 42070 into a race car hauler for it". Means let the 42077 as it is and motorize it and turn the glorious 42070 into something different.
  9. That doesn´t mean you need a smaller vehicle. Nothing speaks against a 27 stud wide racecar on a 27 wide truck with a 29 wide bed. The wheels sizes would allow to build both in appropriate scale and proportions.
  10. Nice work and good performance for a heavy big scale car !
  11. Congratulations, very nice job ! You have beaten my version from my earlier days for sure . I don´t wanna waste any words about some shortcomings which are not so much to my taste, rather enjoy your creations overall appearance with the flowing lines, it´s truly gorgeous .
  12. @Rishab N: Your black version with yellow accents and wheels looks is mindblowing ! I still admire the excelently designed shifting mechanism and the moving fake padels from @Pvdb. I really hope he won´t grieve to long about the theft of his design by a bootleg company and one day come back with something similar to this amazing car. Btw it´s good to know from reviews of the cheap rip-off that their gearbox doesn´t work due to the bad quality of the mechanical parts.
  13. The instructions for the speed computer set 5206 and how to use the settings can be found here: http://letsbuilditagain.com/instructions/5206/ The weird PRM readings result from the inaccuracy in the system itself. It´s not reliable at all and that´s why I have sold mine again.
  14. Thanks for the nice pictures you have made . But there is absolutely no way you can compare this with 8070, maybe except the pricing! This set is consequently following the recent development of Technic, namely poor design, and cost efficient production achieved by color coding. Aimed to younger audience, no care about AFOL´s. The multicolored fruit salad looks disgusting. And what a ridiculous steering wheel and the area around it.. On the plus side: this set features some interesting parts, especially the black 7x5 frames. Hopefully there will be many butchers who will slaughter this beast and sell all the meat. Exactly, same for flex axles. I will keep my hands away from anything in the shades of blue.
  15. Nice project you have accomplished there! Cool functions, especially the different steering modes. Like the fact that you have new ideas each time you build a supercar again ! I love the modeling details, such as the front grill and the smooth engine compartment. The area around the front lights looks too bulky IMO, switching to bricks is not always the best option. But I know how hard such a task can be, I´ve spent many hours trying countless options for my AMG headlights too…The owner will get used to it .
  16. This heli is just great! I love the functionality with all the controls, must be fun to play with. And finally the work really paid off when you decided to rework details and polish the final looks .
  17. I´d rather say „best looking Technic supercar in 1/12 scale“ ! There are very few MOCS out there 21 studs wide, but they are so cute if executed well! Recently I´ve made an attempt too, honestly after having seen this one – and I found the task for the bodywork is not easy at all because I´m used to use panels wherever possible.. Different story about building a 21-wide non-suspended RWD chassis, it´s not too difficult. Too bad the PF chassis is not being presended here or in a separate instruction / section.. @Artemy: would you mind to share pictures of it? I like the black PF version with LED lights shown in the excellent video far more and btw - the driving performance is just perfect ! Oh, and I hope you won´t mind if I repost some pictures after adding some intensity to the red colour ..
  18. It´s not a gearing issue. I don´t own the set and probably never will, but from experience I would bet the clicking sound comes from the mini linear actuators. They are the much weaker parts under stress compared to gears. Although it´s not a big issue concerning damaging, it´s annoying. I´ve looked into the building instructions and it´s obvious that the outriggers are mounted different ways and operate at different angles. One LA has longer travel than the other. Poor design, but most kids don´t care because everything is huge and so impressive !
  19. The mentioned VAT deduction is misleading. Quote from the website: "Price without VAT. 22% VAT will be added at checkout for EU customers." At the checkout: no VAT deduction, because only registered companies with a legal VAT number are qualified for VAT deduction within EU, not private customers! The last advertising here sounds like “Oh Christmas is near, let´s ring the bells!” I pass with my planned purchase if they don´t care about explanation and answers to the fair questions which have been asked.
  20. It seems like the bigger door panels have been painted - you can see a slight deviation in colour from the surrounding pieces. The 11x3 shell could be easily substituted by the 11954 panel which exists in blue, unfortunatly the #17+ #18 panels don´t. Painting panels or beams never would be an option for me. I´d rather come to creative solutions instead, use other parts or colous for a consistent look or wait some more years (or decades, who knows ) until new parts will be released. I really wish I´ll be able to fight out of the blue corner one day! BTW - the builder completely messed up the fenders . The front wheel house literally leans onto the wheel, due to the use of narrow hoses instead of flex axles. Why not simply use black flex axles here? At the rear it seems that the tension of the bowed construction simply pulled off the connector...
  21. Thanks for sharing this genious piece of engineering, IMO it´s just phenomenal !
  22. Finally after a long time I´m seeing a Technic set which is appealing to my taste immediately, let it be a truck or whatever . I like the sleek look with tiles / few system parts (which absolutely don´t bother me) and stickers, even if at the first glance all this makes it difficult to determine whether it´s Technic or not. IMO it looks very well designed and FINISHED, unlike the other flagships we have seen recently. The nice B-model is much appreciated too. New DBG panels plus continuation of the 13x3 bowed panels in another set are just great!
  23. I´m sorry if you understood it this way, I didn´t take your comment to heart and wasn´t referring to it in general. Rather wanted to explain someone´s reasons for asking a special price for a special set . You are right: the only thing those fincancials want is to suck your blood and money if they see huge profit in something - Jeroen does not!
  24. To those who don´t know: Jeroen was an official Lego designer for some while. So if he would see any chance to get this produced there, he would have done for sure! So don´t teach him what to do or not. Chances to make this an official Lego set by putting it on Lego Ideas are zero. A price comparison to any known Technic or USC set is not valid, because these are produced cost efficient in industrial manner and sold by vast numbers, production costs lowered to an unimaginable minimum in relation to store prices! As blakbird already mentioned: the estimated parts costs alone would be around 1,500 USD average BL prices. PF parts value don´t count as heavily in total at a piece count of more than 4,000 to consider, including pneumatics and flex axles. E.g. why people were asking (and some were paying !) 5,000 USD for the sold out 10179 UCS Millenium Falcon years ago? Because the market price to which people buy and sell, depends on supply and demand situation. If there are only 200 limited Tomcat sets, not many will buy and it´s supposed to be this way! Then, after some while, depending on sales numbers, the designer still can reconsider if to sell the last sets for a higher price, or in opposite lower the price within a certain time span to sell them faster. It´s all his business! So what do others care about and those who wouldn´t buy it anyway for any price?
  25. Congratulations for the accomplishment of this huge and functional model ! IMO the color scheme would look better in white & LBG. A video would be great to see and support the promotion for sure. I received some leaks of the Tomcat last week and the first thing which came on my mind was “How on earth is he gonna sell all sets for this price?” Well – I have my doubts as others have said, but anyway – I really wish you good luck and a lot of success! I´m interested in all the process and experience related to the compiling of the complete sets, instructions, packaging and so on. Understandable if you wouldn´t like to share this here, but I´d really appreciate a PM from you, if you don´t mind. By the way – I like your previous plane, the Sukhoi SU-37 very much too (and it features a sharper nose tip as well, sorry ). Being a "pro" advanced builder you should think twice about saying this, considering how hard it is to become a real professional designer. We don´t know the earnings of a (lucky) official TLC designer, especially of those creating the recent unfinished, poor designed and ridiculously overprized big sets.. But you can estimate they are the only ones on the planets being paid fair for their work. And you too now have got the idea that selling instructions isn´t a bad idea at all, instead of inflating the market with free instructions which require tons of work as well.
