Technic Pub
brunojj1 replied to jantjeuh's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I didn´t know - deepest condolences to a (former) great football nation ... Honestly, I don´t follow this sport either during the summer hole. There is no doubt the Hammerhead will run into the wall of champions some day (without breaking itself) The amazing Real destroyed my favourite team another time (I don´t dare to tell you, but it´s not hard to guess ) And I have no advice to motivate you unfortunately because I´m pausing from it too for a while... -

What will happen with the Netherlands in the football qualifications for 2018? Will we have another World Championship without Oranje again? Hopefully not! Btw there are some good German coaches available on the market now like Jürgen Klinsmann or Thomas Tuchel … Cheers ! -
Fantastic supercar you have made there in such a short time ! Superb looking bodywork! My favorite part is the angled front fender . And I prefer your custom 12 cylinder engine above the standard pistons – it fits perfectly in scale – just MO. This MOC has some shortcomings which can be easily be overlooked, using many unconventional techniques. Who cares, I don´t wanna talk about, rather enjoy the result. The fact alone you are being compared with Crowkillers is quite an achievement you can be proud of. BTW – I like your Aston way more than his Scorpion, no matter what parameters can be compared or not and who is saying whatever in favor or not. You may ask @Thorsten50 to make building instructions for this one. I´d be highly interested to have an insight into some details. Can´t wait the video!

Dugald, I like your style very much, even if some techniques are like dancing on the tightrope! Although everybody and yourself can´t wait the end result, take your time ...

1960s VW Beetle - Custom

Very cool ! -
Thanks Jorge for honestly sharing your feelings! I don´t believe you´re going into dark ages since you are still building, even if not for yourself, but for your son – I enjoyed reading this. You are not alone with such periodic ups and downs, lack of inspiration and motivation. I have the impression that some other great builders who had set up new limits of what is possible in Technic design in the last few years, seem to experience the same or have retired for some time too. Some disturbing factors in motivation nowadays also might be e.g. the copycats from the East which have their impact on the heal Lego world. At the same time IMO the recent official Technic sets deliver less wow feeling - poor design in some sets, aggressive marketing, color coding, ridiculous prices for some special sets, instead we see floods of other new themes - maybe all this contributes to shifting targets from the fun of playing. Whatever, follow your own visions, satisfy the needs of the playing child in your heart and fade out all other negative feelings. There is always something new to explore. After seeing good results, near your own feeling of “perfection” (nothing out of Lego ever will be perfect), the fever can catch you again and the small depression will be gone!

Very impressive! Biggest respect for the endurance and patience, not to mention a fortune must have been spent on the parts ! Scale modeling at its best.

Fantastic model , wonderful color scheme, amazing details, lovely bus stop and awesome sticker job ! This clearly belongs into the new Model Team subforum, even it´s not orange

Scale Modeling General Discussion
brunojj1 replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
That´s tough..., but now it´s clear at least. The title is misleading and rather should be named " studded & plated Model Team subforum" or something - "Scale modeling" in general absolutely doesn´t mean that per definition. @Jim: I wanted to mention something funny about Orange and supercars and stuff, but now it´s obsolete anyway . -
Scale Modeling General Discussion
brunojj1 replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Congratulations to the moderators and all contributors for the idea to create this great subforum! I appreciate especially the efforts of our good Dutchie fellows, thanks for the pioneer work from people like Jaap Kroon amongst others. One thing that I personally would like to be changed: the background page is beautiful, but doesn´t show any supercars, instead there are 2 trucks (no offense, but they are also from the same builder). IMHO supercars make an important theme which drags people into our wonderful hobby and then into serious building – so they should be represented here as well. I really don´t apply for any of my models to be shown, there are better ones out there. -
Very nice job ! Clever and compact chassis design. Smart use of the blue panels - the bodywork is perfect. I love it way more than the first version .

"...unless it really adds something to the conversation" (quote Jim). There is no such rule to reply only to topics on the first 2 pages. And IMO this topic is less than a year old. To contribute something usefull to this topic and to answer the question from Aventador2004: The car is named officially Ferrari 488 GTB type F142M (Coupé) or 488 Spider which applies to this particular MOC. The builder named the car right in the description, but not in the title, for whatever weird reason. No offense many other characteristic details have been left out, such as the air intakes in the sides which are very hard to replicate. Other than that some details of the car are pretty recognizeable and distinguishable from other Ferraris, e.g. the exhaust pipes.

I second that and IMO many others made that experience. The introduction of remote PF was a significant milestone to make Technic more interesting. And I love the BuWizz fast mode, you have demonstrated perfectly how nice it improves the performance!

Audi RS 5 DTM
brunojj1 replied to Lipko's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
No help needed. If you read the AMG thread carefully, you will find out that filuS himself was the VIP who initiated it and helped to bring it into existence. -
It´s a question of taste, of course I don´t mind if you like it this way. Although it could be considered as inconsistent to have difering front and rear wheel wells. I´m curious how the Merc will turn out. I had tried it at the front fenders in an early version, but couldn´t get it right because the wheels scrubbed at some areas while steering. My original BMW DTM MOC doesn´t have the thin pneumatic hoses, but thick rigid 4mm custom ones, which appear to have less "broken" lines - look at my brickshelf for comparison. The model wasn´t created with the intention to be shared via instructions, but after publishing it, too many people went crazy about building it, so Thorsten and I did it. Honestly, it hurt me a bit when I saw how much could have been improved at that model, so it became a factor too for my decision to build the AMG DTM and design it more carefully. Please look at the partslist here and here. These are just normal standard 56mm wheels with the caps of the Ferrari Fiorano set which btw have become very rare (recomended custom substitutes).

Thanks for your kind feedback, Joe! If you are missing 4 x white 2L tubes on the roof, you can put the hindmost pieces there and replace by black tubes - IMO it still would look right.

We are here to help . Now as we know the wheels dimensions, we can start from there to calculate the most important correct dimensions, such as total lenght, width and wheelbase. I recommend to use Sariel´s model scaler which is very helpful to generate something like this: Your model should have the width 29 studs, length 66 studs, wheelbase 40 studs. All other details can be measured accordingly. Btw, the resulting scale would be approx. 1:8.
-
Sounds a bit (too) ambitious, don´t you think? Some questions: how did you come to that precise scale number 1:5,9? And consequently: which wheels do you wanna use? Because the only option I can see in this case would be huge third party wheels / tires on 3D - printed rims(?)... Why are you saying "sadly" about not building in a gearbox in? At least you would have a lot of space available in such a big model. What do you mean by "active" engine (instead of "fake" or something)? And a last question which may sound a bit childish, you don´t need to answer : Why a Gallardo and not e.g. a Centenario? You should post some WIP pictures - that would make the topic much more interesting! I would really want to encourage you - don´t give up your dreams! But probably you will have to make huge compromises to achieve any result in the end. Thanks and keep it up!

I got these pictures from a guy in South Korea, he is waiting for his stickers too. Cool modifications on the lights (I admit they are not my best design part in this model) – it seems he used some third party LED. Even more interesting part which I couldn´t figure out yet – where the white “Fiorano” wheel caps come from, just can´t imagine that somebody would paint the originals in white color...
-
Thanks for sharing! Too bad they didn´t have the real racecar there for display. Did they want to keep your Lego version next to the other scaled down models or order a copy of it?

Congratulations to your new baby - and it´s huge again ! Quite impressive package there inclidung all sort of mechanics . The pneumatics have their advantages like lifting power and disadvantages like the shooting boom extension though..
