I do love that new Robin in the Juniors set and the lighter blue Batman. But looking at Burt Ward's Robin vs this one, it looks like he had a black mask originally, so I may just modify mine to fit. Although I do still want that figure. As for the rest, I am excited. Super Heroes is the only theme this next year I am actually planning on getting for myself. LEGO movie and SW weren't as appealing as I originally hoped. I will pick up Friends/Disney for my daughter, but I might be saving some money this next year. Maybe I can get caught up on exclusives before they disappear then.

Yeah brickset posted new images of all of the friend sets plus creator and Disney princess. A lot of great pieces next year.

I ordered mine on the 15th or whenever was the first day of double points, but I only recently built it. I did not have the same problem add others and everything fit like it was supposed to. If be surprised if they corrected the issue that quickly in the sets, but it is possible not all of them were dysfunctional? I just found it odd that mine fit okay without stress on the bricks not long after when others would have the issue. As far as the hesitation on buying it, I would recommend this set to everyone. It is beautiful once built. The wow factor is in the size of the carousel since it sits taller/just as tall as the cottage. My daughter loves it and had played with it daily since building it. I won't buy another one, but if I win the contest, I'd surely pick this set again.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
TheLegoDr replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Nicely done. I'm surprised those Windows were one of the expensive parts since I never liked them anyway. I always thought market street looked like it was built by a child with all those Windows on the front. Like someone just threw it together pretty quickly. So that was one of the first things I was going to modify. I figured I would add some sill on the front and use the 1x2x2 Windows to add a paned look. Keep up the good work. -
I didn't care for the first Hobbit movie, but I bought it anyway (mostly for Bilbo). But it sounds like this extended edition blows it out of the water, so maybe I'll rebuy them all when they all come out in extended editions. I have the extended edition LOTR and those are significantly better than the standard editions.

Watched Skyfall last night thanks to Netflix streaming. It was definitely better than Quantum of Solace (I don't remember anything about that movie other than Olga Kurylenko). I think Casino Royale might be the best out of the three new Bond movies though. I liked the new one overall, but there were parts that were unbelievable (which is to be expected, but not to this extent). Javier Bardem did do a good job as the villain, but he isn't my favorite villain by any means.

Great build. It looks very fitting. Sure, transforming would be cool, but not necessary when the final build looks as it should. Maybe I'll do an Optimus sometime. I've been meaning to.

Those look really good! Maybe I'll borrow this idea (and some of your designs) to create a full diorama in this scale. That could be neat. I'm always looking for ways to display things without taking up too much space

Great story. Great builds. The lighting is neat at the end. Each scene works well with the story. Do you tend to write the story first and then build after, or change the story to better fit your builds? Keep up the great work.

The Sword In The Stone: Kay's Squire

Great scene! The rounded tower is pulled off nicely. The roof is very eye catching. I'd love to incorporate that shaping into one of my builds eventually. Keep up the great work here! -
I agree with Blondie-Wan in regards to stopping earlier instead of having the Spinal Tap reference. Either way, it is the LEGO movie series, so we should leave it at that. As far as the figures go, I still want to get them all as each has something useful. So even if it isn't a collectible numbered series, I will still get a complete 16. Thankfully no real army builders for me. So the only extras I buy will be buying my daughter's favorites for her. It should save some money this coming winter wave. So far, I will be buying a lot less LEGO overall with all of the themes I typically collect. Which means, summer might have a lot of great sets I will want.

People keep mentioning minifigs included. Unless I need my eyes checked, I don't see it anywhere in the rules that minifigures need to be present. It does say TWO official pieces, not two minifigures. Can someone show me the two minifigure rule? Thanks So far some great entries. I need to work on mine soon. I didn't win last year, but maybe I will have better luck this year!

It isn't an ice cream piece in silver. It's the ornamental piece just like in the tiger set posted earlier. Anyway, great set. Will definitely pick it up. I'd love more red apples too.

Scarecrow is a win. I immediately read it in the growl Bale used.

The face printing did look a bit off compared to the earlier hulk, but it definitely has a different expression. I'm not sure what the people are looking at that said the expression looked the same to them. Pants color doesn't really matter to me, but it is best that we would be getting a different hulk. Still it makes me regret buying a second hulk for my daughter if we are getting another one. It's like Gollum in lotr. The two versions are different but close enough it wouldn't really matter.

Very nicely done. I really like the corner technique. I may try to fit that into one of my castles I'm building. Although at the scale I have it in I don't know if it will work. I like how the whole set-up flows together. And that floor . Very nicely done there. Much better than the cheese slope effect.

Somehow I missed this when it was first posted, so thanks for others keeping a steady flow of comments to keep it relevant. I think this is a set that can work as either a corner or a non-corner. A corner Palace Cinema in the Country Club Plaza in KC, MO is just a blocked corner with no architectural detail really, so this Palace Cinema works well either way. I have considered doing this to this building also and I really like how it ended up being. I really love the lobby area and I will definitely copy your main stairs and red carpet tiling. I like the box office area. I'd make the concession stand a little bigger in my own version. And I think I will only have one set of stairs going up to the theater to allow more room for the viewing room and maybe make an addition little projector area. But overall great job here. I really like how it looks. I was really impressed by the official set at first, then I started to dislike it since it isn't in the same design as the others, but I'm warming up to it again. I have also changed the Cafe Corner into a reverse corner and I was considering doing a Green Grocer in a corner style. Just make the window area the corner angle. Either way, keep up the great work!

The LEGO Movie Sets News and Discussion
TheLegoDr replied to Itaria No Shintaku's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I have kept up pretty well with this thread, but I may have missed a few posts. Anyway, here goes.. To any Cafe Corner builders, it looks like the Metal Beard Duel set has a dark bley parrot again, so that will have easier purchasing again. So almost all of the exclusive Cafe Corner pieces are available through other channels now since many are in current sets. The second floor window panes have been updated (but I changed mine to actual windows anyway) and the top floor windows might be harder to find and the 1x4x5 doors will never exist again (again I modified mine to fit 1x4x6), but other than that I think they all exist again so bricklink prices will hopefully go down. Just to give a heads up. Otherwise, the sets themselves look neat. I will definitely pick up a few, but can probably pass on a good chunk. I was expecting to love this theme since January SW wasn't very appealing, but I guess I can save some money for summer 2014. I was hoping the castle set would have had older figures, not the newest line that I don't care for.- 2,626 replies

That is always my concern when calling anywhere (local or international). Hopefully things will get sorted out. Thanks for the heads-up.

Thanks for the pictures. I definitely will pick these up for my daughter, but I want some of those ornaments and bamboo leaves for my own stuff. Darn you Friends capturing every corner of the market!

Horror Stories - Lego you bought off flea-bay and BL
TheLegoDr replied to DrJB's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Every order I've made has been fine so far. I've ordered pieces/figures from bricklink and only figures (pretty much) from eBay. I do also tend to screen who I buy from. Granted, everyone has a first impression, so if someone has the inventory I need, if their feedback looks good and prices are comparable/good, then I'll give them a try. But normally I stick with the same sellers I'm used to because I know I will receive what I need from them. I did buy a duplo/LEGO table on ebay once for our daughter. It came with plates to switch from duplo to lego and then extra bricks of both. It was a good price compared to the others listed. Other than some parts being scratched/well-used, I can't say they were significantly dirty or smelly. I did wash them just to be safe, but it was surprisingly good. ^And to Freddy Bricker ^ I have sold on Amazon quite a bit and I always keep my CMF sealed. I am good at feeling and have only made one error in the last 8 series, so I'm confident enough with what I found. However, I'm sure it is risky nevertheless on both accounts. I could make a mistake, OR the buyer could claim it wasn't the right figure even if it was. So far, everyone has not left me negative feedback ,so I'd assume they were being honest in that it was the right figure. With that said, there probably isn't any major issue with opening them to confirm and sell them that way, clearly stating it has been opened to verify contents. Most people I know who collect them open them to display them, so being sealed may not matter to most people. When I have purchased CMFs I didn't care if it had been opened, as long as it was mint/near-mint in condition and complete. -
Thanks for sharing. Kudos to you for spending that much on a couple of heads. They do look better in your pictures than the original listing, but in still not sold. Ned looks better, but Homer looks too large still. The comparison helps, but if still prefer a little smaller. Obviously they aren't changing them more, so I'll wait until official pictures come out to change my mind. I agree though, I am underwhelmed by a lot of early 2014 sets.

To me, the necromancer looks clearly black. Compare against the light gray on his chest and compare against the dark gray on Gandalf. Black flows with the shadow aspect too. As far as size, a bit disappointed in actual set size. I'll pick it up, but it isn't something I'm dying to have compared to the others. I think I will pick up extras of the smaller set/s though.

Those videos were great. Lots of fun. I'd love to see a lot of those figures, including overload variations of Loki and others. The tour Herbert was pretty neat. I actually liked Spider-Man in those, even though I normally don't care for him.

That scribble face is creepy, but I'll still pick him. Interesting the box art only mentions LEGO movie, not series 12. Can it be similar to the Olympics set? A side runner, but not an official series number? I looked at the figures on facebook earlier. I like Lincoln's 2x2 tile. Plus, I like Lincoln as a figure. I don't see any reason that I need to justify him, but since I live in Lincoln and it was named after him, I might as well pick him up. Plus, I could use his torso for other figures, so I'll probably buy a couple. I think his hair/hat is one combo, but I could be wrong. I asked my daughter who she wanted, and she wants the females (like always) and the no pants guy because she thought he was silly. So I guess there is some appeal to that figure. A local LUG was discussing how he is the first gay minifigure and I didn't understand how having no pants on and a Hawaiian shirt made him gay, but I digress. I quit following that discussion after that.
