  1. I heard from somewhere on here (unless I misread) that Fire Brigade AND Grand Emporium will be gone this year since they liked to keep 3 on rotation at a time. And since the FB was available for so long, it ended up throwing their discontinuation off a bit. Granted, with that mindset, the Pet Shop would be disappearing soon too with the release of the Parisian Restaurant and I haven't heard anything regarding that. So definitely get the FB if you can. I'd recommend getting the GE as soon as you can also.
  2. Brickset lists the prices and they are different than what is listed on that website. Maybe they are of two different currencies?
  3. Thanks GRogall for rearranging that picture (although you didn't have to to appease me!) I will agree wholeheartedly with everyone that city skylines are of varying heights, I think I was more thrown by the original location of it next to much taller buildings. Usually it isn't that jarring of a elevation change and is more gradual over the entire block. So with the new set-up, I love it! I think it all depends on how it is placed on the street. I'd prefer to have it closer to the cinema and a hotel anyway, so it works out. I think I will still MOD the height slightly, but I don't want it a whole extra story high like in that cropped photo. Although, thanks for doing that, satly! I think I just want it an extra brick high, which won't take away too much from the entire facade. But more than likely I won't modify anything structurally and just change the dark red carpet area inside the cafe. Otherwise, it is a beautiful building and I can't wait to add it to my collection. Olive green and dark blue go so well together. My tie today is actually a mish-mash of those colors surprisingly enough. Unfortunately due to the architectural style, I think the PC stands out the most and this blends in well enough.
  4. After seeing GRogall's line up picture, I never noticed how small this is compared to the rest. Yes, it has more pieces with the details, but it is considerably smaller than the rest. I realize skylines have different heights, but that is almost too jarring since the rest have been relatively close. It doesn't help add to how close it is to the town hall in that picture. Also, the main level is almost entirely tiled. That adds up a lot of pieces right there. I don't particularly like the dark red carpet on the sidewalk that turns into red-brown the moment you walk in the door. I like the dark red carpet, just not the transition.
  5. I always liked the idea of drawers and if I can find clear drawers that are capable of being pulled out, I may bite. But for now I think I like the lidded/open topped containers for the majority. I never once considered labels. If I can't find something, then I'll keep looking.
  6. I think the gentleman's hair is new? I don't recall having seen that shape before. I normally only get the one, but this might be worth picking up a second one. But I'm too far backed up with all of the exclusives, it will have to wait.
  7. This is awesome. I love all of the little details. The white croissants work really well here. The color scheme is great. That scooter . They incorporated a lot of little things in it, which is great. I don't particularly care for how small the top loft is. Nice idea to make it accessible, but would prefer it to be a little bigger/taller. My main concern is then trying to show it next to the current modular which is a corner and this isn't. Shouldn't they have placed it on the side? And the price increase isn't wanted. But it does have a few hundred more pieces, so it can be justified. But more than likely it will be the new trend, just like the winter village sets.
  8. It's a nice idea, but I like my big modulars. I really like the dark red facade with the door. I get an Asian fusion vibe from the jewelry store facade more than the end one. I assume the dark green is the jewelry? I also think the lampposts are a bit too big given the scale. But otherwise, a great idea and it is being executed well. Keep up the good work!
  9. Ultimate Collector's Series Millenium Falcon from Star Wars that came out years ago. It is ridiculous. I guess it was on clearance for $250 for a long time because it was hard to sell. But now it goes for at least $2,500.
  10. It looks really good in that color. I'm surprised. I don't mind that color usually, but I am impressed with how it gets pulled off here. I may have to do more Modulars in that. I assume it is red-brown, unless my eyes are off kilter. I'm used to castle building so brown usually means wood to me, but here it can be a nice painted color instead. Works for everything. The original is a good MOD, and this is very fitting to that. Please do an interior, those are always fun to see.
  11. I may be in the minority, but I felt the book didn't have many thrilling moments in it. Thankfully the movie actioned it up, so the sets should have enough action/playability. With that said, this trailer blows the first movie out of the water. It dragged on and had a lot of unnecessary parts, especially compared to the book. I am really liking forward to these sets. I kept saying I wanted more Elves with hair, but those helmets will be a great replacement. And to add to the earlier discussion-- I buy (pretty much) all licensed sets, d2c, CMF, and a good chunk of friends for the daughter. It definitely eats away at the bank account. But LEGO is getting our money and then some. But I can easily say middle earth and a few select super heroes sets are my favorite.
  12. Put me down for two of her. She's gorgeous . My daughter is going to freak! Now we just need a Super Girl and shell be set. It sounds like next year will have some great sets all around. Poor bank account.
  13. October - I'd recommend the Falcon for sure. It makes a great display piece or playable ship. I didn't have any SW figures when I bought it so it was a nice addition for me. I don't have the castle, but loved the HH. I opted for the house over the castle even though I had a chance to get the castle half off. The barge looks okay and I will probably get it eventually, but I'd choose MF this go round.
  14. I can't say I've ever done this. I typically throw duplicates into a box unless I need the posts to customize a new figure. It I give them to my daughter to have. I tend to sort my pieces by type and age. Age is only determined pre/post dark ages.
  15. That classic Hawkeye is what I wanted to see! I would definitely spend a good deal on that figure (if it ever gets made). He was always my favorite as a kid (behind Batman oddly enough). The game is looking awesome. I'm excited to try it out.
  16. Incredible. I am truly amazed. You captured the shape and coloring of penguins nicely. My daughter would love these, although she'd probably want to play with them. I don't think I'll try my hand at these, but definitely impressive. Keep up the great work!
  17. Very neat and very different to a lot of other mini modulars I've seen. I don't particularly love dark green and dark red together, but I like the idea and style of the build. I'm jealous you found those at a PAB! That Ollivander's is . I'm definitely looking at that for inspiration for my mini Diagon Alley diorama. Keep up the great work. I like seeing a full street. Very impressive.
  18. I haven't used it yet. I don't particularly care for the search system, but that might also be because I'm so used to bricklink right now. There is quite a feud between those two companies currently, if that sways your opinion of either. In the end, I think brickowl has a nice idea that it lays out the shipping costs up front, but with it being new there aren't as many sellers on there right now. As far as prices go, I think they are pretty much identical on the pieces I've looked at. As far as shipping to your area, I have no idea.
  19. ^Exact reason why I feel the bags in the store. You get what you need in the numbers you want, provided you can find them and have the time. I haven't made any large purchases lately, soon though. But I did buy a few older CMFs for my daughter as stocking stuffers. The bride and ice skater. She loves all of the female figures CMF provides.
  20. I agree. I wanted mine to look classy, but my wife said she didn't care if LEGO was everywhere. It's what LEGO room is for, so we'll see what happens there. As far as that printing cabinet goes, it looks really neat and useful, but you have to keep in mind on how you build. I originally wanted a drawer method to separate everything, but when I build I need the pieces right next to me and most drawer cabinets I've seen don't allow the drawers to come out completely, so that wouldn't be functional for me, but it would separate the pieces appropriately. Thankfully the drawer system I have has a lot of little bins for smaller pieces and the drawers come out so I can set them with my work area and not worry about it. The same goes for all of these cardboard boxes filled with separated LEGO (by color). I can set them out next to me as I need them. That's why I have considered buying the plastic tubs with lids to store/stack all of my pieces so I can pull out what I need, when I need it. Looking at those Ikea trays, those do look useful. I haven't been to an Ikea before, but my wife is dying to go. Maybe I'll look into something like that if we ever make it to one.
  21. I'm using various sizes of cardboard boxes right now because they are free from work and are actually quite durable. I have a handful of little plastic drawers that are good for some smaller pieces, but I don't need anything major right now. Plastic will be my long-term goal though, but cardboard works well for now.
  22. Jaysapathy - I was asking about numbers, not how to pack. I also know how to pack a cup, but was wondering how much you actually gain by doing so since it is time intensive. Cara - thank you for your response. In that situation, 20 extra pieces is good, but I agree probably not worthwhile for the amount of time it took. I'm sure I'll continue to pack them as well as I can.
  23. This is great. Very fitting to the source material. The only difference I would make is on the front facade, above the centered door/window, is have a black grill brick there instead of the white grill brick. But that than that, spot on! The interior is really well done too. I love the apartment, very well done. I may have to borrow some ideas for furniture building for my Modular I'm working on.
  24. Good to know it has been fixed. I wonder if they recalled any of the sets to make them correct, or if they will just make them correct from here onward. It's similar to the missing bag in the Fire Brigade set. Although I was missing a lot more than just a bag. I plan on buying this next month, so I guess I will wait and see if I have a fixed copy or not. Thanks for sharing.
  25. That is brilliant! My daughter has watched it some on netflix. These look exactly like the characters. I'm almost scared to show her this because then she'll want me to build them haha. Keep up the great work. I hope to see more!
