  1. Some of this theme's fans current outlook reminds me of a conversation from Monty Python and the Holy Grail that I've paraphrased and modified below: (DC theme gets shot with an arrow through the chest by Lego from off in the distance) Fans: "Oh no! I will avenge you, fallen theme! Your tragic loss will not be in vain!" DC Theme: "I'm not actually dead, I'm feeling much better, to be honest." Fans: "Well, then you will not have been mortally wounded in vain!" DC: "I'm quite sure I'll pull through..." Fans: "Shush now, DC theme! I must now rush off to vanquish my new-found foe!" (Fans rush off to fight Lego while leaving injured theme behind) DC: "I'll just wait here, then?" (Anybody else feeling like this?)
  2. Here's an opinion that might ruffle some feathers: "I don't have a Lego problem. I can stop anytime I want.... OH! Look: a (Insert any LEGO product here) set!" (This is coming from from a guy with more trains than my local railroad museum)
  3. I still haven't seen a Bat Train, post-Keaton '90's UCS Batman LEGO models, Batman Beyond / OG animated stuff, or anything about the Bat-Wolf that was from from the TLBM art book. The well of Bat-vehicles will never run dry... If it did, DC will have stopped publishing comics / creating content for several years before it would catch up to Lego. After-all, DC is the house that Batman built.... They'd never let him die!
  4. I feel your pain. Same here!
  5. Sadly, the current limit on preorder is two from LEGO shop at home.
  6. Now where have I seen the ship captain's outfit before? For those wondering, this RMS Titanic Halloween costume was made by my dad for me, around the year 2000. This was made from carboard boxes for the ship, canned spray paint for colors, yellow stickers for portholes, and carboard paper towel tubes for the outlying two red funnels. (I took up the space reserved for the middle two, very much like the CMF.) I was infatuated with the ship itself at that time. (I had not seen the complete film of the same name from '97 until I was quite a bit older... besides, the ship sinking was the only part I cared about then.) ...and yes, this is a modern photo, and the costume still exists at my dad's house.
  7. Well, gray crash helmets are finally going to go down in price, based on this set's usage of them, which is useful for light Bley CS astronauts.
  8. It's REAL! It's really REAL! (Everyone who constantly complains about lack of space sets should buy at least one copy! This will let Lego know Space still sells!) per Brickset: 1254 pieces £89.99, $99.99 USD, €99.99, $179.99 AUD, $129.99 CAD
  9. This is as far as I can get without the needed remaining parts for my Nexus Force RR version of the Alco RS-11, with some of the not-shown long hood section' parts boxed up for later building. The final construction with the remaining 189 parts will commence when they arrive sometime next week / week after that. This locomotive replaces the Zephyr loco I tried / failed to build for my Nexus Force passenger train. As such, the unused parts for the freight train that I had collected that this loco was originally supposed to pull were repurposed for other uses, such as the Ice Slicer MOC I showed off digitally earlier this week over in my Sci-fi forum topic. As it currently stands, the passenger cars I bought on May 14th have also been completed IRL, but have not yet been photographed due to lack-of-space / rearranging issues... but that's another story! The model (seen in it's final digital form directly above) started out as a ALCO MRS-1 built by @SavaTheAggie, but has been so severely modified that it no longer looks like the prototype loco (or Sava's original MOC, honestly). So I went searching and found another ALCO locomotive, a RS-11 that looks (kind of) like my loco. Both my model and the new prototype have the four wheels, and the same basic hood and cab design as the MRS-1 model that preceded it. You can read more about the RS-11 and MRS-1 the their respective Wikipedia links. I changed out the original grille bricks at the rear for grille tiles SNOTed-in sideways for a more consistent look when compared to the roof vents. I added back in Sava's maintenance cabinets from the MRS-1, yet attached them differently using newer parts. I also shortened the frame by six studs to fix the spacing problem created by the missing two wheels.
  10. To respond to your comment, @Operacion Saturno; I like building off the Arctic theme. It's a more grounded theme than say, Classic Space, but yet still enough sci-fi to be recognized as such. Now, onto updates on models old and new: I just finished building the new train cars from late-May (I've been lazy, I know ) but in the mean time, I've made this model in LDD that was inspired by the 2018 Arctic CITY theme's set 60196, Arctic Supply Plane. It has a rotating cab, articulated saw arm and spinning blade. NOTE: The 90+ track links are missing in this view, because they would not attach to the wheels. However, they are in the parts file. Rear view of the (admittedly very odd looking) vehicle. The Nexus Force logo slope goes on the rear. This view showcases the movement possible with all five articulation points (four click-hinges and one turntable) on this model. After the above diesel loco (to go with the coaches since the original shovel-nose Zephyr didn't work out) gets built, the Ice Slicer will be constructed too.
  11. Thank you for your compliment! I tend to not power my trains, as motors / battery boxes / etc. are too expensive and don't fit my designs, plus I also have no 9v track to power with that system. (though switching out a coach bogie with a 9v motor at my local LUG's shows to push / pull the train along is possible, I think.) Almost all my trains are also made to roll quite nicely so when I do hand-push them along my home layout, so I can do so without fear of seizing up the pistons / grinding wheels against track.
  12. Love the first picture of the latest post... it looks so realistic, like it's running along at top track speed and leaning into the curve a bit. Great work @zephyr1934!
  13. Does anyone know when the next episodes are supposed to drop on Netflix?
  14. ....and the article about the Avatar set on Brickset has been pulled. Pictures are gone too.
  15. You know, UP did have a few of those type of locomotives delivered by GE in 1938! Anyway, great work on the Gas Turbines, @bogieman - I love that custom windscreen!
  16. I (and probably a lot of other people) would prefer Sean Connery to Daniel Craig as the Bond (James Bond) mini-figure to go with the DB-5. He's more known for using this car than Craig's Bond ever is... er, was!
  17. The first post has been updated with two real world pictures! Sadly, I do not own the two CMF's going to be used with the car, or even the car itself. (A family member paid me to build it for him.) Otherwise, I'd have them included in the pictures.
  18. Looks like something Brick Daddy from Space Police III would drive. It's got the color scheme of set 5984 (Lunar Limo) down pat, and the feel is there too, yet more subdued than the official vehicle. Great work!
  19. The look of this train was partially inspired by several 4.5v and 12v-era sets, such 7715 / 7818 for the color scheme and 7740 along with it's supplemental sets 7815 and 7819 for the general look of the coaches. Some parts of this train (the coaches) have already been built from about five years back, while the loco is still a WIP for now. This steam locomotive was slightly inspired by the Rhodesia Railways "15th class" that was used in what is now Zimbabwe. This 4-6-4+4-6-4 Garratt type was 74-units strong and was built by Beyer-Peacock and Company starting in 1940, and after WWII from 1947 to 1952 in seven total batches. You can read more about this specific loco class on Wikipedia. My LEGO MOC version is 'fueled' by oil, whereas the real-world 15th class was coal fired. This is one of the reasons why I said it was "inspired by" and not an exact duplicate of a 15th class. However, the front unit does features a prototypical streamlined casing, and the rear unit partially does too. This LEGO model can take some serious curves (much more than what's shown above!), but that's what you get for building a Garratt: it's one of this type of locomotive's strengths. This picture just shows off the articulation points of my MOC, but technically it could split a switch* and still work just fine with the front engine on one track and rear unit on a second one! *NOTE: Don't try that with a real-world steam loco! The doors on the cab of the loco are supposed to be the 1980's ones with blue print on the lower half. Another missing print is on the oil tank hatches, while number / letter tiles go on the front and rear units. (The front unit gets the numbers, while the rear section gets the letters saying LLR, which stands for LegoLand Railroad.) This baggage / passenger car is called a combine which is short for "combination". All the doors can open on this train, even the sliding ones shown here. The three passenger coaches are identical in every way. The observation car, the rear-most coach on the train, features a platform for sight seeing. The steam loco is still being parted out using pieces from the previous streamlined electric engine and from parts from my collection. Until it's done this is a WIP thread, but suggestions / comments / questions are always welcome no matter the project stage. Drop your thoughts below!
  20. A new snow globe part? We need a little red sled to go with it, preferably with the name 'Rosebud' printed on it. (If you have no idea what I'm talking about, watch the vintage film "Citizen Kane".)
  21. I would suggest looking at the 2006 Viking theme, or the bad guys from 2004 to 2006's Knights Kingdom II. These might give you some ideas.
  22. Wile E. Coyote likes this MOC, and so do I. You can't argue with a Super Genius, and I'm also not going to argue with an elephant riding a XXL firework.
  23. Might a 1 x 1 headlight brick (part 4070) turned sideways work? They are 2/3 of a brick tall when on their backs.
  24. "Whoso pulleth out this sword of this stone and anvil, is rightwise king born of all England." Awesome MOC!
