  1. Math may be the universal language, but that doesn't mean I speak it.
  2. ..and here I thought it was Kazim and his friends from Last Crusade in new outfits. "for over five hundred years man has been searching for the cup of Christ, and in all that time, the Brotherhood of the Cruciform Sword has kept it safe" Now @The Reader has got me wondering if Johnny is searching for the Holy Grail!
  3. Not only that, @JopieK, but nearly the exact amount needed is included! (you get a dozen with the new set from my count on the box, but oddly need 13 for the employee gift set) Granted, I don't know that for a fact, but the box features twelve, so...
  4. In honor of the new "Lightyear" sets that were revealed yesterday, I decided to reveal my Space Ranger version of the spaceship in the style of PUG-Z from the old LEGO Worlds video game. I named the ship "42" in honor of the "Buzz Lightyear of Star Command" TV show's ship from twenty-two years ago (Was 2000 really THAT long ago?!?), which I watched a lot when I was younger and sadly is not streaming anywhere since Disney / Pixar have virtually disowned it. NOTES: The origin of the original ship itself is from the totally awesome (and sadly defunct) online free-roam video game LEGO Worlds, then recreated by user TOB1 and made into PDF instructions over on Rebrickable. The rear of the ship, featuring a main engine and two boosters. The landing legs can fold up for flight, as shown above. (yes, I dusted the ship after these shots... the model has been sitting on a table since December, and needed a storage bin until yesterday. I didn't think about dusting them until after taking photos. Sorry!) Buzz sits in the front to pilot, and the alien Bunny lady from Vydio will sit behind him when she gets here... I haven't figured out what she does. Scanning? navigation? weapons? Ideas would be nice, if anyone has any. Space Rangers from Left to Right: - Nic (short for Nicodemus) is a highly evolved rat with cybernetic implants for eyes because he was born blind. From a world called Thorn V.\ - Buzz Lightyear needs no introduction. - E.R.I.C. is a utility robot programed to help maintain starships. This one takes care of Buzz's rocket, 42. - Izzy Hawthorne (info redacted) - Clover comes from a world called Watership. She is an empath and can sense emotions / feelings in others. (I borrowed some characters from famous literature for the aliens: Nic is slightly based off the rat leader Nicodemus from 'Mrs. Frisby and Rats of NIMH' novel, while Clover is based (in name only) off of a character from the book 'Watership Down') Comments, suggestions, and complaints welcome. Would love to hear all you guy's thoughts on all of this!
  5. Very nice job @legominiguy! I love the contrasting style to the official '60's styled Daily Bugle set: It's 1930's Art Deco VS 1960's Brutalism and this art deco masterpiece wins every time in my book. (especially in such a cool paint scheme!) As a side note: I wonder if the comics used the Chrysler (and maybe the Empire State as well) buildings as inspiration... the pointed spire up top, and the stepped format seem to be a bit of both. Keep up the good work!
  6. Here's a closer look at what I think you're asking about: The pistons are attached to the gray (they are actually the black friction ones but were recolored here so you can see them) pins, which doesn't impact the height much if it is assembled the way shown.... any other way with the pistons causes issues. I also placed the cowcatcher on the frame instead of the bogie. The leading wheels are attached the same as before, but with curved slopes on top to prevent catching on the underside of the frame. Hope this help, @Toxic43!
  7. I wonder if the old Construct-A-Zurg head from 2010 might work on the new Zurg. I'm going to add that and maybe his cape from that set... I'm also gonna need to design a tri-barreled ion Blaster though in the larger scale. I've already figure out how to add the Z tile to Zurg's chest from the pictures. Anyone else going to army build the Zyclops with set 76830?
  8. The guy who designed the NASA Mars Science Laboratory Curiosity Rover ideas set 21104 worked on that actual real-world rover. Here is the Ideas project page where he talked about it.
  9. Back to topic, my B&P order from January 31st finally arrived on March 24th. (x6 of the bracket) Here is what I ordered and received. Sorry for no actual loot picture, as it's already been added into the bin containing all the other parts for a project. (I actually placed two B&P orders for this project, this being the second one. The other one was 200x of part 87087 in the same color as the ones above. I placed it in October and got them in late December)
  10. @legominiguy Licensed forum would be your best bet for that as it's where all the (non-Star Wars) licensed threads go.
  11. I digitally recreated this model on January 30th, practically the day pictures of set 40532 - Vintage Taxi were revealed. I then ordered the six new black brackets + about 295 other parts from Lego Bricks and Pieces (R.I.P.) and the rest from BrickLink. Most of the car was finished February 7th, but the black brackets only arrived today. (March 24th). Here is how I recreated the car without instructions by guesswork: For this model I used Rebrickable's inventory to get a parts list of set 40532, removed all the accessories' parts (taxi stand, mini-fig, etc.) and changed the color of the yellow parts to several other colors to see what worked before settling on dark red. As this was designed / built before the instructions were released, it was just a visible parts field at first. (Nothing but parts laid out in a grid in LDD.) I didn't want to wait for the instructions while part prices could go up and thus I reverse engineered it using only logical part placements from the list. I also used Brickset's review of the set for reference to things official LEGO pictures didn't give... although I did miss a 1 x 2 green plate part doing it this way, and had to get a black one from my own collection. I changed the wheels to be something I already have in the same basic size, and the front grille to be a different style for reasons of cost saving and individuality. (If everyone else is going to have that one-piece front grille, why follow the crowd?) Doing something similar, but yet not the same was a goal in this entire project to begin with anyway. I added a license plate to the rear of the vehicle. The car still seats two with room for some luggage behind the passenger. As for the other 295 parts I purchased that January day, they are going to this house build which you can see more of in it's own topic here. All the parts have finally been gathered, with construction to start VERY soon, possibly Saturday... eight months after I started looking for parts for it! Thoughts, comments, and or complaints welcome!
  12. Switching from wood to plastic in 1960's, (and then in the 70's to ABS from some other type of plastic) was a good thing, right?
  13. This MOC is missing only about six parts, and should be completed soon. Everything seen above was found in my own collection, (no orders yet placed) which actually surprised me on how much I had. Also, Mr. Incredibles car has been finished, with his own thread made here.
  14. This model was originally used with Mister Incredible from the LEGO Incredibles II video game, and was reverse engineered by a builder named @hachiroku. The instructions for the original version remade by that user are seen here. I first recreated the car in LDD from his video instructions and revised it a bit, especially in the paint job department. I gave it a more current Incredibles look, instead of the original dark azure with red dot on the hood. This was needed because LEGO hasn't made a prologue / glory days version of the Mister Incredible super suit and I wanted it to match perfectly. I consider the car to be a post-Incredibles II repainted version as it is shown to be back in the Parr family's ownership at the end of that film, yet it was still in the original paint scheme. The redone hood logo looks pretty good this way, don't you think? Flaming exhaust is able to be placed on the rear tailpipe. I also added a small spoiler to the rear just above the tailpipe, as it looked weird with nothing there. The inside controls with a bunch of dials / gauges and a steering wheel. The roof is easily removable because it isn't connected at the front of the car. I've also created a color-based enemy and his vehicle for Mister Incredible to fight, which you can see here in it's own thread. Comments, questions, and complaints welcome!
  15. Backstory of Mr. Incredible super villain "Kodachrome": Originally from the far future of 2525 where expression, color, and are virtually outlawed and emotion heavily suppressed in order to achieve prefect uniformity, Simon Paulson was a rebel since birth, quite literally. His eyes had a strange birth defect that let to them changing hue constantly. His parents hid him away in the mid-1940's using experimental time travel technology after he painted their city's mayor's house purple. The parents were supposed to pick him up again in 20 years (their time) but an accident after transit destroyed them and the time machine, stranding him in 1946. He gained a reputation in the intervening twenty year's time as non-conformist, rebel, and eventually an outright villain for painting buildings, streets, people, and even the local sky colors they shouldn't be. He does this using very advanced technology he cobbled together himself, and the colors even can affect people's minds - blue makes them depressed, red = angry, yellow is fearful, etc. Mister Incredible has faced Kodachrome (his adopted alias since 1946) multiple times during commission of his crimes which have included: - painting the Statue of Liberty blue and causing tourists inside to become severely depressed - turning the Golden Gate bridge purple to cause jealousy incidents across San Francisco - turning Frozone and Mr. Incredible's suit's yellow (intense fear) to allow him to sabotage a early US rocket launch un-hindered. (stopped by Elastigirl on this occasion) - robbing several banks, museums, and laboratories to create a time machine to cause colorful havoc in ALL times (coalition of Frozone, Mr. Incredible, and Gazerbeam stopped him and his army of mind-controlled civilian minions) Actual Name: Simon Paulson Super-Alias: Kodachrome Villainy Grade: A Status: At Large Mental ability: Genius level intellect, criminally insane The truck Kodachrome uses for his colorful criminal caper's when they need to be mobile. Rear of the truck, which is a MOD of set 70921 (Harley Quinn Cannonball Attack) from The LEGO Batman Movie's third wave. Under the hood, showcasing the engine. (Two blue slope parts are missing from this area, while the 4 x 4 dishes on the laser cannon are missing this print as well.) Yes, this is 100% build-able and will be constructed IRL for use with Mr. Incredible and his car I've just finished building. (sneak peek above in B&W) Also, if you can guess the song and it's artist I was listening to when I created all this, you win a cookie. Comments, questions, and complaints welcome!
  16. Thanks @legominiguy! Gotta have a lot of cash for a bank! Although, to be honest, it's actually a terribly small amount for a bank... I wonder why it's so small? We need somebody to investigate this mysterious mass withdrawal... We need someone... INCREDIBLE! Great idea about the roofline, @Merlict! I'll look into that for sure. I might use "garage door" 1 x 2 bricks, or grille bricks. (Currently unsure on which would look better and I don't have the model in LDD to mess around with.)
  17. I never really liked the fake piston design I came up with in November of 2020 for my set 7597 Toy Story-style 4-4-0's, so I decided to take another crack at them on March 10th. (This is why no "official" photos were taken back in December, as I wasn't satisfied with the engines) The end result of this re-working is I actually got them to move properly, and parts were ordered from Bricklink on the 11th and arrived on the 15th. As soon as I can add these pistons into the engines, (which should be in a few days / a week since they are in an currently inaccessible spot for an currently unknown amount of time) I'll take pictures. Kudos to @Toxic43 for getting me thinking it was possible in the first place... I'd about given up! I'll create a new, sperate topic for these revised engines, the other two similar styled steamer's I have, and their respective trains when I take the photos. But until then, here is group shot from early February as a sneak peek.
  18. Thanks @Poodabricks! Yeah, you've got a a point about the color @hoppa. However, as you also stated, it is accurate to some older buildings of this style, so in the coloration it will stay. Thanks for the compliments, though! Thanks @gotoAndLego, but you'll actually have to thank Brick City Depot, because the sign I reverse engineered and improved was theirs. Here is the link to their website for more pictures and where you can buy instructions for their modular building models. (It actually has winter village, train, military and more MOC's instructions for sale besides town and is 100% worth a look!)
  19. My brother built this two-story building originally for his town hall on a whim. He never liked it and was going to scrap it, until I convinced him to sell it to me for $30 instead. When my brother owned it, it was completely empty and without any real roof like it now has. However, it originally did have a huge 6x6 clock dish where the dollar sign now is. (He kept that part, but I don't mind) I've turned it into a neo-classical style bank, styled after the town hall from the Back to the Future films. The dollar sign piece was reverse-engineered from Brick City Depot pictures of their bank. The building is replacing my 2011-vintage Gringotts bank MOD, based on part of set 10217. (Diagon Alley) The blank rear wall. There are supposed to be 13,800 "dollars" in the vault in 100 dollar notes. As to what's in the chest: it might be the Holy Grail... or Jimmy Hoffa's body. No-body knows! The printed vault door from "the Incredibles" series of sets is in there, but not visible in this shot. I have four teller windows (two on left, two on right) to the model's first floor. There is also a Bank truck coming eventually. Comments, questions, or suggestions welcome!
  20. My Jan 31st order shipped today as well. No tracking so far and I haven't even received an email saying anything, but the money has been removed from my account so...
  21. Congratulations on the win @zephyr1934!
  22. That loco makes me think of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad from Disneyland. Great work!
  23. Hand me the bleach, I need to clean my mind of that image.
  24. It wasn't me! (I'm not a Moderator.)
  25. overheard on the trail: "I hear the Donner's are having a real party up there in the pass. Wonder if they'll let us join in." (Sorry, the above joke was just screaming to be made, so I had no choice. Apologies if I offended anyone.) Awesome MOC!
