  1. Events were moving quickly in Eslandola these days. The king had signed the magna carta, a colonial council was to be formed, and elections to that new governmental body were just around the corner. But where would the new Colonial Council meet? Gov. Guilder thought he had just the place. Weelond's lecture hall was not heavily used, and it was large enough to host large meetings. Although the meeting location of the new council was likely to rotate throughout the colonies, as Eslandola's oldest colony, Guilder thought Weelond was an appropriate location for the first council session. But where the council would meet was not Guilder's decision to make, so after he had the main hall prepared for the council. he invited several of Eslandola's prominent citizens to an unveiling of the renovated lecture hall. Hopefully they would approve of the Weelond lecture hall as a suitable first location for the new Colonial Council. Let's go in... The lecture dias was perfect for the Admius Legistrad, the council leader. Banners were hung on the back wall, flanking the crossed anchors relief behind the dias. MAESTRO representatives discussed matters... The large windows along the side walls let in plenty of light. Members of trade companies and independent traders engaged in lively conversation. The initial council would have seven delegations of three members each, although an eighth delegation was likely in the future. Desks for each council member were covered with green cloth, and provided an ink well and quill. No need for the unused desks to have an ink well, but one of the desks that is supposed to have one is missing it. Perhaps this fellow knows something about that. Here are a couple of pictures without the crowd: And a picture with the entry door attached: *********************** The hall was largely inspired by Independence Hall in Philadelphia. (I've been looking for an excuse to build it in Lego for several years.) The design for the top of the door frames was stolen from Bregir [edit: apparently I stole it from Oleander architects instead]; the design of the fireplaces was largely stolen from Garmadon. I hope my use of several Eslandolan sigfigs was acceptable to those involved. And since it's hard to classify just what property category "government" falls under, and given the backstory for the build as a lecture hall, I'm licensing the build as a large educational property. Besides, self-governance will certainly be a learning experience! Thanks for looking. All C&C welcome!
  2. To outsiders it might look like a tense time in Eslandola, what with the attack on the treasure fleet and the war with Mardier, but we also like to party. And that’s why Weelond’s annual Octoberfest celebration goes on as scheduled, featuring drink, food, games and amusements, traditional Eslandolan costumes (?!), drinking (did we mention drinking?), and more. So regardless of where you’re from, come to Weelond and have some fun! Rules: Your entry must showcase an activity at the Weelond Octoberfest. Your entry must be located in Weelond (post in the Weelond settlement thread). You must provide a link to your entry below. You must submit your entry by the 23rd of October, 12:00 PM, your time zone. Your entry must measure no more than 12 studs in width and length. There is no height restriction. Your entry may only have a minimal (2 stud) overhang. Only one prize maximum will be awarded per entrant. Prizes will be paid in November, not October. You may only submit a maximum of two entries. You must be a BoBS member to participate, but you can belong to any faction. Prizes: A panel of judges, including the leader of MCTC and the mayor of Weelond, will judge all entries and choose a select number of favorites to be exhibited on the front of this year’s Octoberfest poster. Two winning entries with be awarded 30 DBs each (one for Eslandola entries, and one for non-Eslandola entries). Every entry chosen for the Octoberfest poster will be awarded 10 DBs.

    [ESL] Turtle Race

The turtle race at the annual Weelond Octoberfest always was a lot of fun. Bella Cardena was the lady in charge of the event... Bets could be place, food could be bought and of course a lot of wine and beer was consumed as well. All for he fun of the people. And some money, of course. Those turtles had to eat, after all. Within a day Bella Cardena made more than many labourers made in a month. That was during Octoberfest, which lasted quite a few days. And the best thing was... Turtle Races in Weelond did not only take place in October. They actually did every Sunday and had made Bella quite a rich businesswoman. But someone else profited as well. Bella had a long-term contract with Román Fontonajo, who had helped her in her early days, when there were no turtle enthusiasts in Weelond. Román delivered food, wine, beer - and of course new turtles whenever they were needed.
  4. A juggler has been busy entertaining the attendees at Octoberfest in Weelond. The attendees come dressed in all sorts of historical outfits, though some of the folks are less inclined to participate in history and just come in their normal clothes. After refreshments, the juggler increased the danger of his act.
  5. The wild festivities of the Weelond Octoberfest also feature a Wet Corset Contest The contest was staged by "Shabby Boris" whose job it was to provide the required ballistic quantities of water. His friends were enjoying the show... ... and while the ladies, Penny and Amy were willing to join the frivolous activity ... ... Sergeant Filipe (member of the City Watch) was less amused. C&C welcome.
  6. Octoberfest is a great opportunity to undust skills and sports that have faded with time. Sword and shield fighting is not a skill used anymore in war, but there are those who still have it mastered. Octoberfest allows them the opportunity to compete once again.
  7. "Ach! What has he done?!" Governor Guilder was in shock when he read the dispatch from the King. "Withdraw all troops from the colonies? ... Prepare for an assault on Granoleon? Fernando has lost his mind! He'll sink us!" Governor Guilder had worked too hard to build up Eslandola's strength in New Terra. He had built Weelond into a large town, and he had been instrumental in planning Operation KMA. The king had done nothing about Mardier's continued assaults at sea, and now he wants to abandon everything, for what? A madman's dream? The trade companies would be ruined. Eslandola would be ruined. Governor Guilder thought about the dispatch from the king. Guilder did not want to disobey a direct order. But he would not abandon the colonies. After a few minutes, he called to his secretary. "Send word to muster the 1st company of the town militia. I want them ready for travel in one hour. I will inspect them prior to departure on the parade grounds." "Governor, what is happening?" "The king has gone mad. That's what's happening. Also send word for my personal guard to prepare for sea as well. And send word to the captain of the Sleeping Siren. She is to be our transport." And before his secretary could ask anything else, Guilder was out the door. The Governor made a beeline for the office of Aaron van der Meede. Now that Weelond was a large town, van der Meede was the logical choice for civil servant, and it was time for his civil service career to start; he would be acting mayor while Guilder was gone. Then Guilder went to the MCTC offices to look for Guy Wyndzon or Guy's uncle, but they were nowhere to be found. Guilder left word for Guy to meet him at the parade grounds. Guilder wondered if Guy hadn't heard the news yet. If he was out, he may not have seen the dispatch. Soon the hour had passed, and the militia company was formed up for review in front of Fort Weelond. "Captain." "Governor, what is happening? The street is abuzz with rumors of war ... with Oleon!" "I will fill you in once we're at sea, but I can tell you we are headed for Terelli, for a most dangerous mission." "The men will do whatever you command, sir." "I know, captain. That's why I requested the 1st militia company. This mission will need absolute loyalty. We must confront King Fernando before he ruins us all." Just then the Governor's personal guard unit arrived: The Governor's Musketeers, a platoon of the finest riders and marksmen on the island. Guilder thought about what lay ahead as his musketeers paraded by. King Fernando wanted troops recalled to Terelli, and so the Governor would abide. But he was not headed to Terelli to join an assault on Granoleon; Guilder was headed to Terelli to talk some sense into the king, by whatever means necessary. Guilder was loyal to the crown, but only as it served Eslandola. The king action's had broken the unwritten natural laws that make him a king. If Fernando could not see this, Eslandola would be lost, not on the battlefield, but in the hearts and minds of all her loyal citizens.
  8. Capitan Alonzo had been summoned to the Governor’s mansion. After his assignment on Ferro Azure, Alonzo was now in Weelond inspecting MCTC troops. When word came that Governor Guilder wanted to see him urgently, Alonzo reported immediately. “Capitan Alonzo, please come in. I have a most urgent assignment for you.” “What is it, sir?” “I believe you know Thaddeus Calvo, here, yes? He’s a rather well-known adventurer in certain social circles, especially after almost finding the fountain of youth. But I digress. Calvo has been working his Mardier contacts of late, gathering any intelligence he can in our war efforts. To this point all we’ve had are some unimpressive small encounters at sea--but even those have been few and far between of late--and there was the aborted land campaign in the Grand Duchy of Prio. But Calvo has found out that Mardier is claiming rights to the largest island in our new archipelago in the South Prio Sea! This is, of course, outrageous. Mardier cannot be permitted to establish a presence in the archipelago! Eslandola already has plans for a major trading post on the eastern island, and the trade companies are interested in the resources we believe are present on the western island. But the largest, central island, the Skaford Heights, could control the entire archipelago and the South Prio Sea if Mardier were to use it as a base of operations.” “I am at your service, Governor Guilder. Has Mardier started to fortify the island yet?” “No, Capitan Alonzo, Calvo assures me they have not. In fact, we don’t think they have any physical presence yet on the island, but we’re not taking any chances. The trade companies have united on this issue! Your work fortifying Salida Este was excellent, and we are confident of your ability in this new assignment.” “Thank you, Governor!” “Per the plan outlined in Operation KMA, you are to leave today with a company of troops to sail for the Nova Eslandola archipelago in the South Prio Sea. Captain Merker is preparing one of our fastest ships as we speak. Once there, you are to establish a fortified position on the natural bay on the south side of the main island, and await reinforcements. The other trade companies are sending men and resources as well, but if Mardier forces arrive before our other men, you are authorized to act as you see fit, including attacking any Mardier presence.” Alonzo rubbed his hands together in anticipation. He looked forward to seeing real action again. “Along with the reinforcements, Jerome Monezterell will also be arriving on the island soon to serve as mayor of the new settlement. When he arrives, you will report to him, but you will retain military command of the fort and our MCTC troops.” “Yes, sir,” said Alonzo. “Any questions, Capitan?” “Just one, sir. What does KMA stand for in the operation name?” “It really doesn’t mean anything officially,” said Gov. Guilder. “But I like to think it stands for “Kick Mardier’s … er … Assets!” And with that, Operation KMA had commenced. More to come…
  9. While many are gossiping about the rumored Eslandola treasure fleet, life goes on as normal for most of the citizens of the brick seas. On the outskirts of Weelond, the local sawmill is busy. With water diverted from the nearby river, the waterwheel turns the mechanism (essentially a simple crank) that operates the saw blade. The basement that houses the mechanism also is used for storing supplies. Logs are brought to the mill by horse or floated down river. Workers roll each log onto the mill floor, where the log is guided through the saw. Logs are sent through repeatedly to get a number of planks from each log. Then the planks are then moved off the mill floor and stacked to await delivery to wherever they’re needed. * * * Since I did such a terrible job with the waterwheel on my indigo dye factory, I felt I needed to do a build that showed one operating properly. Water-powered sawmills date back to the 6th century, and the example I used for this MOC was from the early 1800s, but should still be representative of the 1700s. As for the saw blade in the fifth picture, I tried using a folded piece of aluminum foil for the blade, but I couldn’t get it to stay in place, so I cheated and wound up just drawing it in. I initially wanted to include the mill pond in the build, but it was just too much to include. This will be licensed as a medium factory, which should elevate Weelond to Large Town status. As always, all C&C welcome!
  10. The 'An Holli Corrington College', or The 'Corrish' or 'Red' School to the locals, has been completed in the Eslandolan settlement of Weelond. The school is ultimately the result of correspondence between the Mayor of Weelond, Willem Guilder and the temporary military governor of Alicentia, Major Dirk Allock. Mayor Guilder, concerned regarding the lack of educational facilities in his settlement, wrote to Major Allock in his capacity as a fellow (albeit yet to be confirmed) controller of a settlement, and a Corlander famed for his membership and patronage of the Royal Society of Natural Philosophy. After swift negotiations, Major Allcock agreed that the society would establish an office and educational facility in Weelond. Unable to visit Weelond just yet (although he has plans to do so in the near future), Major Allcock has delegated the responsibility of the new school to Thomas Elliot, a school teacher from Arlinsport. Elliot also dabbles in architecture, so the design of the new school was also left to him. Major Allcock gave some loose direction, the school should ideally be on a medium plot size, and should be a testament to the Corlander dedication to the Sciences and education in general. On arriving in Weelond Elliot found the purchase of a suitable block of land quite difficult, even with a letter of introduction from the Mayor himself. Not surprisingly in a settlement controlled by the very successful merchants of the MCTC, land prices were highly competitive to say the least! In the end Elliot settled for a small, narrow block and secured its lease at a very competitive rate (it was thought too small to be of any real value!). He then proceed to design a three story facility. To highlight this was a Corlander establishment, the only natural colour to build in was of course red - with black and white trim. Unfortunately white stone was in quite high demand, and white washing didn't convey the grandeur Elliot wished to convey, so the white was replaced with light grey. The school as seen from the street with an Eslandolan Soldier patrolling the streets, and from the rear where a small chilli bush has been cultivated - Elliot has developed quite a taste for spicy foods and grows his own supply! The ground floor is used for classes. Mondays and Tuesdays Elliot teaches the children of wealthy merchants and the moneyed class. The essentials of reading, writing and arithmetic are covered (He finds this class most attentive to the mathematical sessions!) as well as a smattering of Natural Philosophy. Wednesdays and Thursdays are a more mature age, with locals interested in Natural Philosophy learning the basics of that science. Fridays and Saturdays Elliot has off, or devotes to his own studies, and Sundays he holds free classes for the poorer children of the settlement who are required to work throughout the week. The middle floor is a devoted living area which is also regularly co-opted for scientific studies. The upper floor is Elliot's Bed chamber and where his white cat Molly can often be found. The whole place is furnished in a rather Spartan style, some may remark it needs a women's touch? Who knows, maybe School master Elliot will find love with a local Eslandolan women? ----------------------------- Something a little different from my usual style, my first attempt at a fully modular house. Heavily based on the design in the excellent MOC found here, I really liked the turret on the front of the building but modified the rear of the building, windows, roof and most obviously the colours! I wanted to use bright 'classic' colours - hopefully the red is not too bright and fits in to the generally more colourful Eslandolan style! I was a bit worried the design maybe a bit modern, but I think it works. The build will be licensed as a small educational property in the settlement of Weelond. Enjoy and as always C&C welcome! Oh and here is an extra view of all the components together!
  11. We sailed into Weelond Bay and anchored in the harbor. Even though Weelond was founded as a company town of the MCTC, the settlement was open to all, and the docks were no exception. This was a public wharf. As we rowed to shore to speak with the dockmaster, the Weelond waterfront came into focus. The dockmaster was currently busy with Captain Janszen and his first mate. Perhaps a problem with his manifest? Behind them the street was bustling with activity. Both warehouses were busy moving crates and barrels to their designated spots, some coming in, some going out. And was that Captain Silver coming down the stairs? Who had he been visiting? Over to our left, a father and his son were fishing. They better make sure that cat doesn’t get their catch. As soon as the dockmaster is done with Janszen, we’ll discuss our business with him. * * * * * This MOC is made up of several builds you’ve seen here before (the small warehouse with room above, the MCTC warehouse, the brewery). The dock has even appeared before (introducing a ship, and practicing for a duel), but never as the focus of the build. Probably only 10% of this is new. But I wanted to see how it would all fit together in a larger display, and I wanted to put the focus on the dock, which I will now license as a medium commerce property. Here are a couple more views: As always, all C&C welcome.
  12. When the first settlers came to An Holli more than 50 years ago and founded Weelond, they built the initial structures mostly from wood. As the settlement became more established, they replaced structures that were considered vital to the settlement with more permanent buildings made from stone. Other than the fort, one of the first structures to be rebuilt using local stone was Weelond’s church. It is located on the village green, between the town market and the waterfront’s warehouse district. Fifty years after it was built, it is now known simply as “the old stone church.” Reverend Calvert DuBois invites us inside. Once inside, we can see the sanctuary, which feels larger than one might expect due to the high roof and large stained glass windows. At the rear of the church, Rev. DuBois has an office where he keeps his library and items needed for church services. The church is a center of Weelond’s cultural activity. Rev. DuBois has a full house in attendance today for his sermon. Let’s take a quick peek from his office as he delivers his sermon. * * * Build notes: - I actually started planning this build before the Cultural and Educational categories were added to the list of property types in the game, so that saved me the trouble of figuring out how to classify it. - The main roof comes off for easy access: - There is no back wall, but I built it so that I could add a removable wall at some point in the future: As always, all c&c welcome! For details on the religion practiced here, the Church of Sol and Luna, also known as the Church of the Two Coins, see here:
  13. Do you wear a shirt? Or pants? Or underwear? I am sure you do. And I am also sure that some of the cloth you are wearing was manufactured in Weelond. Weelond?, you ask? That's right, Weelond, on the island of An Holli. You don't believe me? Come along, young lad, and let me show you. A while ago the largest facility in the new world has commenced its business. In the Augustinian Colonial Textiles (named in the honour of our beloved king), the MCTC fabricates cotton, making some of the finest cloth in all of Terra Nova. From here, the cloth is brought to cities both in the new and in the old world. Come and join me for a small tour through our Royal Cotton Factory, or look around yourself. Augustinian Colonial Textiles The workers are working quite hard right now. Take a look from the top, right through the roof, and see the inside unfold. Isn't it colourful inside? Spinning cotton is no easy task. We have quite some machinery, here in Weelond. Those men are really doing their best to keep the spinning machines running all the time, and running and running. Whenever a piece of cotton is all rolled up to a thread, a new one is put on the machine, and a new one, and so on... Believe it or not, your shirt did not grow on a field like that. Someone has added that precious green colour to it, at some point. Last but surely not least, we are weaving. It's funny, actually, that four women operate the machines while more than 10 people are constantly carrying around fibres and cloth to keep the machines running. Storage racks are important. Because believe it or not, not everything we produce is transported away immediately. This does not only go for white or coloured fibres, but also for fine cloth. We always try to be ahead of ourselves, here at the MCTC. This is why we installed a small wagon to ease our work. Because we care about logistics. And we care about our workers. Take a break and eat some of that tasty "chocolate" thing we have imported from Cocovia. Anyone still want some carrots? Noone? Really? And look outside. Isn't she a beauty, our factory? It's quite funny that the backdoor is the place where we do most of our business. Having a river nearby always helps. Look at those two, bringing in some new cotton for us to make cloth from. Will it be green or purple, what do you think? Yellow you say? I'm not so sure, I think we have produced enough yellow cloth for today. But who am I to tell? Did you know August? That's how we call that small pig. Noone has a clue how August got here, or how he has any right to be here. But we all think he's quite cute, doing what he does, so we let him do his thing. Now imagine you were an eagle, my little friend. Just think about how much good we are doing to the world, running this factory. Noone has to freeze in cold winters once there is enough cloth in the world. Yeah, just look around a bit more and memorize what you see here. Because what you see here, young lad, is the future of the world. It's not ships, nor gold nor treasures, it's factories, it's industry. The real revolutions of the next years won't be against kings. The real revolutions will be against our untechnologised past and for the machinery of the future. I'm a weirdo, you say? Well, just look around and embrace the future, my dear. Believe it or not, accept it or don't - you won't change it. Neither will I. But I will be part of it. Why won't you? see a full album on Flickr for more pictures This is by far the hugest build I have done till now, and by far the best (in my personal opinion). Thank you BoBS for inspiring me to go for something like this. And thank you also to all those people who gave me inspiration with all their wonderful builds here at BoBS. And of course a great thank you to my fellow MCTC members for sticking with me for the Royal Textile Factory, from the initial idea (let's rather call it a vision), through financing and the realisation, and for providing feedback and suggestions during the building phase. You are great. Alright. Time to clean up my Lego over the... next few weeks I am afraid.
  14. It’s market day in Weelond! Residents have come to the market house on the village green to sell their wares. The ground floor of the market house is used to store goods, and the archways also serve as vendor stalls on market days. The 2nd floor of the market house is used as a meeting place for town elders and for community events. Some days there might be people selling animal skins and furs, leather goods, iron cooking pots, and other artisan goods, but today it looks like it’s farm produce day. As we walk along the street, Mrs. Pifano is selling bananas and apples. In addition to the man she’s talking to, the militiaman on horseback appears interested. Set up on the cobblestones in front of the market house we find “Old Man” Claesen, a local fisherman, and his young assistant with two barrels of fresh fish. Aaron van der Meede is talking to Mrs. Lockerman, who is selling carrots from her garden. At the far end of the building, Samuel Amwell is unloading kegs from his brewery. Moving to the other side of the market house, we see Sam’s assistant tending to the ox that pulls the cart. Up the street on the far side of the green, we are greeted by the smell of fresh baked bread and pastries. Let’s stop and buy some treats! The next smell is not as pleasant! A pig farmer has set up a temporary pen and brought his pigs to market. They are fat and ready for slaughter. Who wants bacon? But bacon would take time. The poultry farmer has cooked turkey legs ready now! He also has chickens for sale. That’s a visit to the Weelond market!
  15. Weelond, like Bardo, is a company town, and the company keeps it busy! At the MCTC warehouse, cargo handlers are busy sorting crates and barrels of the latest trade goods. Trade is the lifeblood of this settlement on An Holli. Corn, cotton, and textiles are the primary exports currently (although there are rumors that rum and ale may soon be produced locally), and various exotic foodstuffs and equipment are imported. Local MCTC officials are anxious to see more properties go up in Weelond. * * * * * A couple of new pictures have surfaced of this warehouse. Apparently there's more to it than initially illustrated. The warehouse extends well back from the street front. A side alley allows the workers to move goods out of the main street while they work. But they better watch what they're doing. Two pigs have escaped!
  16. There is much to celebrate in Weelond on the island of An Holli. The new royal textile factory is opening, and several MCTC dignitaries have arrived to see the factory in person. Additionally, the mayor of Weelond, Willem Guilder, has just been appointed governor of the island. Governor Guilder (he likes how that sounds!) hosts his guests at his new residence. The governor’s mansion is a simple 2-story affair with an entrance portico and a kitchen off the southern wing. A statue and fountain grace the front lawn. A stone path around the north wing leads to a garden in the back. Small access hatches in the cupola allow access to the widow’s walk along the top of the roof. Here Governor Guilder greets the mayor of Nova Terreli, Román Esteban Fontonajo, and his lovely wife Marietta. Fontonajo was instrumental in getting the royal factory built in Weelond, and Guilder is quite grateful. Eslandola’s Secretary of State, Guy K. Wyndzon, leader of the Merchant’s Colonial Trading Company, discusses matters with the mayor of Bardo, Colonel Oystridge. Rumor has it that the colonel may soon be named governor of the island of An Toli. Guilder needs to let the colonel know that the position comes with no upgrade in pay beyond the continuing mayoral duties, but the title does look nice on the letterhead. Guy’s uncle has wandered onto the lawn and started yelling at the statue of the Eslandolan explorer who discovered An Holli more than 50 years ago. Perhaps Guy’s uncle knew him before he was a statue? Regardless, the other guests steer clear of him… A view of the house unobstructed by the fountain: Here's how the grounds look to anyone who might fly over in a phlogisphere... Many thanks (and apologies) to Kai NRG, Elostirion, and Sir Stig for use of their characters. I hope my versions of their characters is close enough for government work!
  17. Willem Guilder was pleased with how his cotton plantation was progressing. With some early returns in hand, he could afford to open up additional acres for planting. So he set a team of men to clearing and plowing the land. *** This build expands on the earlier medium plantation found here, increasing it in size to a large plantation. Here is the new build by itself: And here it is combined with the previous build: In addition to the new sections, I added some stones to the road along the fence in the old build, as you can see better here: A close-up of the plow: And a resting worker with his scythe: I think the plowed rows in the field worked out ok (although I did get some glare off the slope pieces I used in one of the photos). All feedback welcome!
  18. Aaron van der Meede is a young lawyer, recently graduated from the University of Terreli. Working for an established attorney, Aaron was tasked with finding a suitable plot of land in the islands for a plantation for a wealthy client. Aaron did some research and then sailed to An Holli. There the young lawyer fell in love with a world he had never imagined. The lush countryside intoxicated him with an enthusiasm for life. Aaron quickly completed his task, finding a suitable plot for the client’s future plantation and sent word back on a fast ship. But Aaron did not return to Terreli to deliver his findings in person. Aaron could not imagine ever going back. The islands were where he belonged. He scouted the town of Weelond for a suitable place to set up shop. In the warehouse district he found what he was looking for. He found a small private warehouse with available space on the second floor. The building was a bit older than others around -- the stone walls were no longer whitewashed, and the roof was made of wooden planks, not the red tiles seen almost everywhere – but the building was sound, and the location was good. The second-floor space was really nothing more than a small apartment, but he could make it into an office. Aaron quickly found the proprietor and they came to an agreement for the young lawyer to rent the space. Aaron borrowed a ladder and literally put out his shingle. And the fates clearly approved of the young lawyer’s decision. Before Aaron even had a chance to furnish his office or send for his books, a prospective client saw his sign and came up the stairs. Aaron had his first client, surely the first of many. *** One of the things I wanted to do with this build was play with the roof technique. I think I'd adjust how I did it next time; feedback on it is appreciated. I planned on doing an interior, but I wasn't particularly happy with how the wall panels looked from the inside, and I wound up stealing the tiles I used on the floors for another build.
  19. This is my third free build of the month, so approvals and critiques are most welcome. Samuel Amwell’s family have been brewers for generations, but Samuel is the first of his family to leave the mainland and move to the islands. In Weelond on the island of An Holli, Samuel has opened the Weelond Brewing Company. The tropical setting is perfect for growing the sugarcane necessary for distilling rum, and the ingredients for his family’s ale are also plentiful. Samuel works diligently to make sure his rum and ale are the best in the islands, and Eslandolan sailors near and far are quickly becoming familiar with WBC beverages.
  20. Colonel Oystridge sat in his office in the Officer Quarter on Weelond. He had just finished a map of the island where he found Orbinson and Mercredi, drawn by a local cartographer for his coloring book. "Hmm, I wonder where I put my cigars... Did I bring them from the ship? Let's see, last I had them..." He had not completed his line of though before he heard a familiar knock. The knock of the order. "Come in!" It was Gilroy O’Dougahallahan, the keeper of the books. "Greetings, Colonel. I come with news from the order. Bardo is suffering from food shortage and bad morale. Your countenance are needed there." "Thats a shame. I have begun to like it here in Weelond. But I can't dismiss The Orders orders. Bad morale you say? Bad morale is bad for your health. They couldn't have just sent a letter?". "Sir, with all due respect, everyone knows that no one just writes the Colonel. You have a great deal of respect in the colonies, you know". "Well, I suppose. It would have been nice to get a letter once in a while though. I am going to forget how to read", he laughed merrily. "Not to worry, I am quite sure the people of Bardo won't notice." "That bad, is it? We will have to something about that. Well then, what are we waiting for? Would you mind taking my belongings to the docks and telling my ship not to unload the spices. I have a couple of friends I have to visit before we go", The Colonel asked. "Actually, there is a small house I wanted to do some research...". (Small house in Weelond) Well aware of which house Gilroy was referring to he replied: "That's an order. If you don't mind. We won't set sail until tomorrow morning". The Colonel had a knack for getting his way without making people feel repressed, and still carry his authority well. Often this involved just listening, not stressing and leaving some open time in his plans for people to do their thing. "Oh, well then, Certainly, sir, I'll see to it". Ooc: This build will not be licenced for quite a while, so the Majors bonus is still available. It is actually available if the MCTC or the settlement of Weelond wants to licence it. And there is a job opening for a new officer and gentleman Kai, I hope you don't me referring to your small house.
  21. Got 4 dark red profile bricks and just had to put them to some good use! This, by the way, is Guy's Uncle. Not quite sure what exactly he is doing in Weelond, but... here he is! I decided to do an SK style slide-out interior - pretty fun and remarkably easy! I'm on a roll! This pirate era stuff is fun! C&C welcome! This is my third free-build this month.
