Hello, The new griffin faction and my love for fantasy creatures inspired me to design this brick-built griffin to Bricklink Designer Program Series 9. It is not actually based on an existing character, I studied some cool pictures about griffins, and some cool griffin and eagle builds, but I built something brand new. My intent was to create a poseable animal instead of a static statue and added a wizard to the set for more playability options. You can support my submissions by voting and commenting: https://www.bricklink.com/v3/designer-program/series-9/main.page?s=tlg I prefer the brick built solutions to keep the flexibility of the used parts in further builds, and therefore only two stickes are used for the griffin eyes. Dimensions of the griffin (as it is shown on the main picture): Width:21.9 studs / 6.9 in / 17.5 cm Length: 39.6 studs /12.5 in /31.7 cm Height:35.4 studs /11.1 in / 28.3 cm Picture 5 shows the rotation joints and approximate rotation ranges. Hello, and welcome to the Royal Nest! A new castle for the new griffin faction which was designed for Bricklink Designer Program Series 9. You can support my submissions by voting and commenting: https://www.bricklink.com/v3/designer-program/series-9/main.page?s=tlg The round bastions, the decorated main gate, Gothic windows, the yellow half-timbered house, the plants, and many other details make this castle a worthy home for the king of the griffin faction. It can be displayed either closed or in multiple open formats, and in the open configurations, the interior becomes accessible. It includes a throne room, the king's bedroom, an attic with a treasure chest, a dining hall, a kitchen with a masonry oven, a blacksmith's forge with an anvil, a prison in the basement, and servants' quarters. All the doors are functional. The set includes 8 minifigures and some animals including one horse which provide many playability options. Dimensions of the castle (closed): Width: 51.2 studs / 16.1 in / 40.9 cm Length: 51.9 studs / 16.4 in / 41.5 cm Height: 55.2 studs / 17.4 in / 44.1 cm I hope you enjoy this set. Hello, I was wondering who is the designer of the original minifigure? I think, like probably, lot of us :) it so brilliant idea. Minifigs are just awesome :) I am curious is he/she designed any other famous things. So far I found only info that first minifigs were released in 1975 (non-moving ones) and in 1978 was first release of sets with "real" minifigs. But who designed them? P.S. First ever released minifigs from 1978:

Mariachi wagon and Mexican house One of the most vivid traditions of Mexico is surely the Mariachi culture. I’ve been always intrigued by Mariachi musicians and when LEGO released the Mariachi in Series 16 Collectible Minifigures I thought it was really cute and perfect for a Mexican themed MOC. My latest creation represents a classic Mexican scene: the Mariachi Wagon with the musicians on board ready to play the serenade to the beautiful girl on the terrace. On the right her father with his eyes well opened. The house boasts a multi-level terrace structure, a couple of arbors covered by flowers and a large patio. Cactus and plants of all kind are all around. In addition to the Mariachi, I also included in the diorama the Maraca Man (Series 2), Flamenco Dancer (Series 6), the Taco Tuesday Guy (the LEGO Movie) and the Cactus Girl (Series 18). Hello all. As Lego has moved along over the years, I have noticed steady increase in pieces that are updated with new molds. One that surprises me that has not been updated is the 2x2x2 slope piece used to represent dresses, robes, etc. Am I the only one that thinks this should be updated with a new piece? I have never liked the fact that using this piece makes a minifigure 1 plate taller than they should be, the arms can't sit flush against the torso (because it's wider than regular legs), the figure is static because the torso can't bend, they don't hold together well when played with, and dresses aren't square (well, you know what I mean). Why has Lego not created a new dress mold or standard minifigure equivalent? I don't mean to make this into a gender issue... but could this be because the major focus for girls' play is now the Friends, Disney Princess, Elves, etc. lines with minidoll style figures? My kids enjoy minidolls and minifigures, but I have noticed they like to use regular minifigure legs over these slope dresses. Just seems overdue for a new piece. Thoughts? -

Hello, feel the speed! It is my own hypercar concept inspired by real hyper and supercars. It is a 6 studs wide, studless model built from standard LEGO elements. The overall size is similar to the Speed Champions sets, but the wheels are from City sets as I wanted to keep the height to length ratio closer to the real sports cars. Last night I was thinking about what defines something as minifig scale, considering the proportions of a minifigure are different from a person. So, what does define something as minifig scale? Is there an easy way to tell if something is? And what I want to know most, is there a list somewhere of what sets are minifig scale, and which ones are bigger or smaller? If this has been mentioned elsewhere, I'm sorry.

Here are some of my fantasy minifigures using parts released in the last few months. The parts are from the DC CMF series, Ninjago range, CNY sets and Hidden Side boxes as well as some BAM exclusive pieces. I would have preferred a more murine tail for the were-rat, but am not aware of any. I welcome suggestions. Questions? Comments? -
I remember being thrilled when BrickForge came out with its centaur body and rushed to order some from the US. I had wanted to add LEGO centaurs to my collection for years. Fast forward a good long time and LEGO has finally graced us with centaur equine parts of its own: the smaller, blue one from Trolls, and the very recently released HP one. Below are all the centaurs from my display collection. I think I am right in saying that there are no other moulded centaur parts without cutting horses, so this represents all the uncut possibilities. The blue ones may seem odd but there is precedent. At least two Disney films have had blue or bluish-violet centaurs. Special thanks @Exetrius for correctly identifying the shade of the Trolls' centaur's body as medium blue back when it had not yet been released and the only pictures made it not obvious. Even though it is officially medium blue, it is not a perfect match. LEGO seems to be slipping in its colour consistency. Questions? Comments? Chironic concerns?

Hello everyone! :) This is a project begun in 2016, freely inspired by an athletics track in the north of Italy. It's populated by friends and people - some of them are ordinary, others are so odd - that used to train or work there. As now, the MOC is in a minifig scale. The track combines bricks in different orientations and some techniques (e.g. the numbers before the finish line) to make it detailed and realistic as much as possible. It's also modular to make it easy to transport and, above all, easy to continue. The current version consists of about 3700 bricks, but we're already designing the curved section. How come LEGO Universe never got a line of sets? Considering it had a story, the factions and the Nexus could have been the main focus, with spare pieces to use on customizing minifigures. Heck, when the game was out, I envisioned LEGO adding a line where you could buy packs of minifigures that featured different weapons, armor, clothes, and accessories that either fit into LU generally or where part of a faction, like a proto-Minifigure line. I forget if my idea was based around mystery bags or not, but another idea I had was a set that had a collection of minifigures and small builds with tons of weapons and armor from in-game like the boxed collections of minifigures. But childhood ramblings aside, why didn't they promote it like they did with the LEGO Movie with sets? At the very least they could have added onto the price like it was a licensed line and diverge the extra money to the game itself to pay for moderators and admins (maybe even give some free time in the game so kids could try out the wider game, and maybe give their characters a collection of pieces to add to their existing collection in the freebuild islands, cars, and rockets). I remember seeing all the cool gear you could get in-game and how cool the enemies looked, and wondered why they didn't at least make the pieces available in some smaller line so kids (i.e. me and my friends) could use them in their builds and allow them the feeling of making stuff in the game. Wouldn't you like making a mech while having official pieces that had your faction logo and had a 1-to-1 recreation of your actual character's appearance and high-level gear with his pet skunk co-piloting? The only reason I say this is because there were instances where elements would show up in LU and there wouldn't be any real life equivalent, either because the designers took liberties with the pieces and their connections (even though ironically some could have been made real easily as the pieces were just edits of existing ones) or because they designed stuff, like the faction and enemy pieces, that don't have a clean, official real life counterpart. I don't even care if LU can't come back as an MMO, considering how hard it is to run a family friendly one without the world's best team of mods, admins, and (because it's LEGO) software algorithms, but considering how popular it was in general, making the move to sets and another medium for story, like a single player/local multiplayer game, tv show, or full line of comics wouldn't be outside the realm of a possible success. And it wouldn't have even been a bad idea to release the full code (I wouldn't even care if I had to pay for it) for the game to more easily let its own community continue hosting the game by letting them set up their own servers a la Minecraft. I just feel that there was too much wasted when the game ended and TLG left it fully in the dust with little to nothing salvaged.

Hello everyone,This is our latest project, the Main Square of Crema, a town in the Northern part of Italy. We represented the Cathedral (2016, see Discussion), the facade of the Palace of the Bishop (2018, in yellow), part of the City Hall (2018, with the tower and some interior). We are aware that the buildings need lots of improvements, concering both structure and quality details, but for now we didn't want to devote all of our time to this work and so this is a beta version which we hope to improve in the next years. We decided to add a Christmas atmosphere to the layout (forgive some improper clothes :P), but the idea is to transform it in a rainy layout, something quite uncommon. The whole MOC is made up of about 17.000 LEGO bricks. I add to this post some pictures of the city, so that you can compare them to the model. With Halloween rapidly approaching, I thought I'd share the scariest minifigures ever! Most of these are MOCs, but one, the mutant Dr O'Neil, was as sold in the TMNT range. How TLG thought such a creepy minifigure was suitable for kids is a mystery. Anyway, here are my contenders for the freakiest minifigures of all time: Don't think they're that scary? I'm as susceptible as anyone to "the cult of the new" when it comes to minifigures and bigfigs, prone to oohing and ahhing over LEGO's latest creations. But sometimes I don't get that feeling and find older versions better than newer ones. Here are some examples: This is my favourite Joker (though with the big smile on the double printed head, not the smirk pictured), not the forthcoming one. And here is the Hulk I like most, not this one that came out a year later. I like this Spider-Man more than this one despite it being 10 years older. The ghosts I prefer are this one followed by this one. The more recent CMF one is cool too and I have one in my display collection with a different head, but the ones with the white shrouds are top of my list of phantoms. I realise that these preferences are entirely subjective and that opinions will vary, but was wondering what older versions or minifigures, bigfigs and moulded creatures other FOLs prefer to newer versions. Are there any that have disappointed you or do you always like the latest ones most?
