@Roebuck, I’m not particularly into Shrek. I don’t dislike the franchise but I’m not a massive shrek-head either so won’t be getting any of these for the characters they represent. However, I will be getting quite a few of these minifigures to mod as generic fantasy characters or for parts. Prince Charming with different hands & head and a helmet would make a pretty good knight for example. -

@Schway78, Unfortunately, I don't. I just create as I go. I don't use CAD and for the same reason, I don't have a parts list. Hopefully, you can see enough from the two pics to replicate what I've done. Note that strictly speaking, it's larger than minifigure scale. Beholders in D&D are about the size of the official one that came in the Red Dragon's Tale set (21348). Mine would be size Large or possibly even Huge in D&D terms. That doesn't stop me from including it in my minifigure scaled display collection, but that's just my headcanon. I also have the official one. In my world, beholders can be size M, L or H. -

I suspect that’s it. Perhaps LEGO is considering making all GWPs buyable and are slowly implementing the change. You would still get a GWP with purchases above a threshold but you’d also have the option of buying it if you didn’t (or buying additional ones if you did). I have no inside information; that’s purely conjecture. -
@LEGO Train 12 Volts, Thanks for your kind words. One of the aspects of the hobby that I particularly enjoy is modding, so I don’t mind having to do so to make sets into what they should have been. But for anyone new to AFOLdom who may not have a spare pieces inventory or be familiar with sourcing additional parts, LEGO’s corner cutting could be a real turnoff. It may be good for LEGO’s financials in the short term but it’s not a sustainable strategy for the hobby or the company.

@SpacePolice89, Thank you for saying so. I feel sorry for the set’s designer. He would have known that he was creating an implausible/unusable castle but was no doubt compelled by management to act against his judgement. I feel that there’s been a lot of corner cutting/shrinkflation at LEGO during the last couple of years. It’s such a shame.

When images emerged of set 31168 Medieval Horse Knight Castle, I had mixed feelings. I love a cool LEGO castle as much as anyone but this wasn't it. It had potential but I felt the designer was being too ambitious with his budget. It's as if it was built to the wrong scale, had too few fun features and not enough minifigures. I set about modding the set, not with a view to completely redesigning it as you see on Rebrickable, but to enhance it as if the designer had more freedom. If the images look familiar that's because I've posted them elsewhere online. Hope that's not a breach of EB rules.

It really works but I need to give credit for the idea to a poster on Brickset who himself got the idea from a member of his LUG. It was my idea to add the chakram piece both to smooth the transition from the head to the body - it’s pretty abrupt otherwise - and to represent a slave’s iron collar. Ordinarily, I wouldn’t sacrifice a Hulk bigfig to create a cyclops but a) I already have a Hulk bigfig I like more in my display collection, and b) I got the set the Hulk bigfig came in on clearance. With the discount and some loyalty vouchers from a credit card, my cash outlay for the set was only £6. An alternative combo with the Hulk bigfig is the CMF orc head and lower jaw piece. That works well, too.

@Mr. Elijah Timms, Very cool! I really like when each minifigure is visually coherent with a colour scheme and look. As for the name 'Equitane' as a portmanteau of 'Aquitaine' and 'equestrian', that's simply brilliant. My Serpent Knight raiders & thralls:

I never considered Nexo Knights part of Castle either despite what LEGO said. It was good for parts and some of the villains were outstanding but the knights, vehicles and buildings? No, thanks - not my idea of Castle should be.

I’m glad you like them and well spotted on Reddit. I did indeed post there as well 😊 The blue kettle hat works well with the Horse Knights. I also have the great helm in blue but decided not to use it. Maybe I should 🤔 I got the minifigures from PaB except for a few that came with the Horse Knights Castle, BAM (the jester) and my spares. The PaB ones were mostly accidentally sent free from LEGO as were my Serpent Knights (not shown). I called Customer Service to let them know and they said I could keep them - woohoo! Thank you! With a bit of creativity and enough parts, a couple of different torsos and leg assemblies can create quite a mix. Which blue helmet did you mean: the kettle hat worn by the halberdier or the armet worn by one of the mounted knights?
