TIE Improved Prototype; my first "big" build impressions...
deraven replied to r5-j2's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Glad you got over that initial fright and caught the building bug. Welcome to the club (hold on to your wallet!)! -
Diamond Headlights
deraven replied to LegoCube's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Interesting- that does seem to conduct the light well and bring it closer to the bricks you're using for the exterior lens so there's less diffusion, but I do wonder what the difference is vs just moving the light source a stud closer. That is, is the diamond piece actually doing any kind of focussing, etc., or is it just simply moving the point of output closer to the trans 1x2 brick? Neat idea either way. -
Nice rock and snow work, nice vehicle. Nice all around! It kinda looks like an up-rated, future VW Bus, which is a good thing.

Toothless looks nice, but I must say all those clouds add a lot as well.

Lovely interpretation at that scale. I really like the hands. Nicely done!

I love the color scheme for the terrain and vegetation! And that trike is, indeed, a sweet ride! I think the snow kicked up by the wheels is a nice touch, but it seems like the effect would be better if it was more particulate and less slope-y, since those wheels themselves don't lend a good sense of motion in still shots (which wouldn't be an issue for something like the blast from thrusters, etc.). Nice build!

I'm glad they found that animal tree and all, but if they really want to support sustainable agriculture why didn't they just go right for a sausage bush?? Nice builds, fun story as usual.

Yes, those "Activity Books" don't usually have anything unique, but you'll sometimes see that in the higher priced "Encyclopedia" type Lego book. Having kids of the appropriate age I can tell you that the activity books (especially the ones with stickers!) can certainly be fun and it's nice that it includes a minifig, but don't buy it just for the fig if you have no interest in the book.

That's pretty cool. The tree is spiffy (the canopy in particular), and I really like the patched canal wall, the rows of crops, and the piece usage to show the water spilling out under the gate. Nice build!

I like the inverted 2x2 boat plates set on there as stones. NPU, and missed it the first time I looked.

Nice. Thunder's ride in particular is nice, and Sam Sinister's is fantastic!

Alright, I feel a little silly, but I just found this MOC page open and forgotten in a tab in one of my (apparently far too many) browser windows. Simply. Incredible! I won't reiterate everything others have said, but I pretty much love everything about it, but especially how the whole thing comes together as one beautiful build. So, per your last reply- did you get more photos to share?

That tower looks super-fun, and the red and yellow ships are sweet. Nice building.

LEGO Movie: Horse Riding Horse - Build Research
deraven replied to booh88's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Hi booh88 (James)! I'm kind necroposting here, but in case you're still looking, here's the best shot of the horse model I got while at Legoland CA a few months back: With the shot you have above, this shows almost the whole thing beside the very back end. Hope it helps!- 1 reply

Nice. I really like those larger trees!

Wow, this is beautiful! The result from all that SNOT is just great. The "GAS" lettering came out very well, the gas pumps are clever and fit in nicely, and that car is delightful as well! I'm impressed.

The purple roof is rockin'! And that simple interior really works. Nicely done! -
New MOC from nunki-psi: Medieval Peddler
deraven replied to ootkaman's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
The wagon seems a little over-sized for the team of horses, but I recognize that there were indeed some like that IRL. But man, when the wagon is (literally) open for business, that interior is awesome! The colors and overall look are very nice, too. -
Wow- I just love this! The contrast between the different masonry profile bricks is nice, as is the overall color scheme. NPU with the minifig legs. Seems like it could maybe use some arrow slits or something on the exterior side. Does it have an interior like your awesome tavern and house? Let me tell you, I'd buy sets in this kind of modular system like crazy!

That is delightful! Well done.

Simply incredible. I'll echo other sentiments here- without close inspection, it's often hard to tell it's a model! Beautiful functions, too. Bravo!

Yes! That first one came right to mind as it's not meant to be a hole but the grey patch could absolutely pass for one on a zombie. Hadn't thought about the other, but I think it could certainly work as well. This is the only other one that I'd maybe look at- not really tattered, but maybe plain/rustic enough to pass OK mixed in with some others.

What Do These Parts Look Like Together?
deraven replied to MattieG7's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Huh, I do like the idea. I think the combo you posted looks good for the head. May I suggest either of these for the rest of her: Surfer Girl Wetsuit or Coast Guard set Surfer Wetsuit -
Sure thing! And welcome to Eurobricks, by the way!
