Yargh! Err... I mean hi all! In this topic I will show and tell about my new ship model, a 1:45 scale model of the VOC ship ''Halve Maen'' which was build in 1606 (approximately, nobody knows exact). The ship is only 25,7 meters long and 5,3 meters wide. I choose this ship since it is quite doable in minifig scale. The model is based on the replica ship that docks in Hoorn, Holland. She can be visited, here is the website. History Originally she was launched as a yacht, but in 1609 she was commissioned by the VOC for a new endeavour. The VOC asked English explorer Henry Hudson to find a new shipping route to the east Indies. This was quite a daring voyage with such a smal ship and a crew of just 16 men. Well instead of finding the Indies, he actually found New York and the rest is history. After this famous voyage she was put into battle in the Indies, she actually fought several battles. and was eventually shot on fire and sunk in 1618 on the coast of Jakarta Indonesia. If you'd like to read more about the history you can do so here and here. The replica today The existing replica was build in 1988, after the first replica burned down in 1934. She was build in Albany, New York. Research was far better for this second replica and she shows great difference from the first replica. I believe the second replica to be more accurate, so I took her as example. However not much is known about the 1606 original, there are no plans, except for some old drawings. I took the colour scheme they first used, she is different today. I did not make the red/white stripes, they don't seem very realistic to me. And a cut through whis gives a good view of how small this ship actually was: Well without further ado, I give you my model: And at a slightly different angle: A bit closer with the gunports closed: A detail shot of the hull construction: I took the lion design of my Prins Willim, just had to downsize it a bit. I also really like the construction of the galleon, the understructure and railings are exactly how they should be, with an open frame underneath: Another detail of the galleon, also showing the 2 access doors: Next is the stern, showing the weapon of Amsterdam, a moon and stars and a cabin window: A straight shot on the stern, showing the crazy curvature and the lanter which (I think) is Captain Braunsfeld's design: Next up a birds eye showing the detail of the masts, rigging and sails. Some of you have seen this model at the Eurobricks event, when she was about 95% complete. I told you I wanted to make printed flags, but a most of you liked the wavy flagpieces I had quickly put on better. This made me decide to make brick build flags. From bow to stern they are: Dutch flag, Flag of countship Holland, Flag of the Dutch republic, Flag of Amsterdam, Flag of the VOC. The Flag of the countship of Holland was the most difficult, it is a yellow flag with a red lion. If anybody can come up with a nicer design please tell me. A detail of the crow's nest: And a bit closer showing all the activity on deck: A view on the back of the ship. You can see the capstan and ship's bell. Underneath the bell was the ''steering cabin'' and you can se the first mate looking out over the ship: And here you can see the first mate in the cabin with the whipstick: Since everything is so small, I also had to design a very small dinghy: And small cannons: The hatches and part of the deck can be removed to show what is going on below deck, note the cannon ''tools'' on the wall: The anchors can actually be dropped, this is a new anchor design which is quite sturdy: In the first pictures you see the sails as they would be hoisted quickly, not in a neat manner. This makes the model look lively without distracting too much from the details. However, what is a ship without functional sails: And finally a shot which ook me way too much time to make, but I couldn't help myself but putting her in the water: That concludes it. El Toro Bravo : A class 2A Topsail cutter After being repaired the former Oleon ship known as "La Vaillante" became "El Toro Bravo" and was given to the Eslandian Colonel Ignacio Severus to command. And she began her duty by being sent along the shores of Berelli in order to track down the pirates. I bettered the "Vaillante" I made for Challenge II and I will license her as a Class 2A vessel. I changed the colours, I change the Masts and put more in the middle the main mast. I made the rigging in order to be able to lower the sails. I think my story is well explaining how and why she became an eslandian warship... So I can license her, I never licensed her when she was Oleander. I think I can do that. Well, the Banana Boat may not be the most beautiful ship that has ever sailed the fourteen seas and her figurehead (a banana ) is often mocked at in harbour inns - but Captain Tallyman simply laughs along. He knows that his yellow freight will be paid for with golden coins - and any observer will quickly notice that Tallyman is able to buy himself a quite impressive lantern! But he keeps a low profile and enjoys his life as the fastest banana trader of Eslandola. Guided by his able and cunning first mate Mr. Monkey, the "Banana Boat" is known in most ports. C&C welcome!

It's been a while since I've been posting on here, so I thought I'd show one of my latest builds, the USS OGEL. The images are from it's latest 'patrol' at Brick-a-laide in Adelaide, South Australia. Some information about the real ship:- Based on the United States Navy Alaska Class Battlecruisers The Alaska class consisted of six large cruisers ordered before World War II for the United States Navy. They were officially classed as large cruisers (CB), but others have regarded them as battlecruisers. They were all named after territories or insular areas of the United States, signifying their intermediate status between larger battleships and smaller heavy and lighter cruisers. Of the six planned, two were completed, the third's construction was suspended on 16 April 1947, and the last three were canceled. Alaska and Guam served with the U.S. Navy for the last year of World War II as bombardment ships and fast carrier escorts. They were decommissioned in 1947 after spending only 32 and 29 months in service, respectively. The idea for a large cruiser class originated in the early 1930s when the U.S. Navy sought to counter Deutschland-class "pocket battleships" being launched by Germany. Planning for ships that eventually evolved into the Alaska class began in the late 1930s after the deployment of Germany's Scharnhorst-class battleships and rumors that Japan was constructing a new battlecruiser class. To serve as "cruiser-killers" capable of seeking out and destroying these post-Treaty heavy cruisers, the class was given large guns of a new and expensive design, limited armor protection against 12-inch shells, and machinery capable of speeds of about 31–33 knots (36–38 mph, 58–61 km/h). "Tales from Another World" is perhaps one of the most famous fantasy-fiction series of novels ever written. In one of its stories, there is exists a nation known as Sparta, renowned for their military prowess, but also for their austerity and discipline. Named after this fabled military powerhouse, the HMS Sparta was commissioned as a warship in 588 AE, towards the end of the 49 years war. She saw her last action at "The Engagement of Pentagora Peninsular", during the final stages of the 49 year war. In one of the bloodiest sea battles every recorded, she famously held back a last ditch attempt to attack the Corrington mainland by a small Oleon fleet of 5 warships, all by herself. Captain Gerald L. Steward (545-590 AE, posthumously promoted to Vice-Admiral) led his men into a daring head-on clash with the Oleon fleet. HMS Sparta charged into the Oleon formation, firing full broadsides at close range, then proceeded to board Oleon ship, Le Tournesol, with the entire crew complement, led by Captain Steward himself. Shocked by the unconventional tactics, Le Tournesol was quickly overrun and commandeered, then directed to crash right into the side of another Oleon ship, C'est la Vie, which was then taken with yet another full boarding action. Oleon ships Amaranthe and Le Chat Noir attempted a pincer boarding manoeuvre to attempt to take back C'est la Vie. It seemed that all was lost for Captain Steward and his men, exhausted and worn down by attrition. But in a desperate but brilliant tactical move, Captain Steward ordered the powder stores of C'est la Vie to be set alight. The resultant explosion killed everyone on board the C'est la Vie, and set alight both the Amaranthe and Le Chat Noir, leading to a series of chain explosions when their respective powder stores ignited. The captain of the last Oleon ship, Le Bouffon, lost all morale after witnessing the scene of carnage, and exclaimed, "C'est de la folie!", before giving a hasty order to retreat. Nearly all the crew of the HMS Sparta was killed in action, yet she survived. The remaining skeleton crew managed to sail her back to port and her bloodiest battle would forever be part of legend. While heroes and legends are made in war, in times of peace, life goes on. After the war, she was converted into a supply ship, removing most of her cannons for cargo space. A quarter of a century later, with Commodore Anselm Whitegate in command, she still sails the Brick Seas, supporting the Empire's colonies by delivering precious supplies to the frontiers. Felipe de la Manzana, after an excellent trade run, (see here for more informations) sent a letter to Lord Smaugton in order to hire scientists to study the Ténotclaxcans myths and legends. He was still hoping to find a clue concerning the Golden Apple with these stories. It was also the occasion to meet and help a new MAESTRO fisherman who wanted to settle his activity in Cocovia, the Quinnsville island, because of the known abundance of Swordfish. Felipe head sail to Quinnsville. Arriving around Cocovia, he saw his new friend, Captain Santiago. His reputation of a lucky man was true as he was already at work to catch a splendid Marlin ! The fish fought well, but the two men in their bright new skiff, La Espada, managed to kill the Marlin. The fish was bound to a hook alongside the boat and brought to the port. Santiago was awared that sharks could be a threat and tryed to eat his catch. He protected his Marlin firing at those predators with his flintlock pistol. A game that he his good at... Seeing that fish party, Felipe was happy to see that MAESTRO's investment in La Espada of Captain Santiago was an excellent idea. He decided to meet the young lucky captain to help him develop his fishing wharf in Quinnsville, Cocovia. “Luck is a thing that comes in many forms and who can recognize her?” Ernest Hemingway, The old man and the sea. This little fishing boat is a Class 0 ship (Skiff) I am licensing with Captain Santiago in command. Of course, the fishing party and the captain name are an Homage to Hemingway text. Though, I decided to choose a younger captain for story purpose. I tryed another hull technique, but the sails are not custom sails, they are old official LEGO sails. I hope you will like this little skiff.

Tuesday, early in the moring. The fire department recive a call of a yacht that's on fire. When the first engine arrives at the scene, the flames are coming out of the front. 2 Firefighters are getting a hose to fight the fire. 2 Other firefighters are looking for any victims. A second engine & a fire boat arrives at the scene to help. The boat is checking if nobody is in the water. The second engine helps with fighting the fire. The fire was under control in 20 minutes. The police is still investigating how the fire started. *Note: Maby some things in the text are not corrrect, English is not my main language The first engine just arrived. The fire boat is at the scene The fire is getting extinguished. The second engine just arrived. The fire is under control, 2 firefighters are checking. I hope you liked this MOC!

Jan 31st, 615 AE Parakeet, At Sea Dear Brother, Yesterday the Parakeet sprung a leak. We were obliged to beach her in a convenient, protected cove. With her hove down and the cargo landed, we were able to come at the hole and affect a temporary repair. We took the opportunity to careen her as we also found a fair amount of weed. I begin to understand why Old Bill was so willing to wager her in last month's game of piquet. She is very fast, but she is old, and frankly many of her planks need replacing. That said, once we've made a few improvements, I believe she will prove an ideal vessel for our new business. Your Humble Servant, Richard Walton, Esq Here are a couple of extra pictures for anyone curious about her devilish construction. She is intended to be a two masted lugger. The three masted lugger was the preferred rig of English Channel smugglers, but I thought that would be far too big for a Class 2F, so I went with a two-master.

My first ship MOC. she has one large central cannon, two cannon ports towards the aft - with (currently) one smaller cannon and one more signal, close quarters cannon all the way astern. the cabin has a cot and a table with a map, bottle, and a light fixture. If anyone has an idea about the class of this ship... I would like to register it, but not sure as what class exactly, thank you

It had been about half a year since that fateful day when young Sebastion Clifton had acquired the Saucy Jack from the one and only Lord Pennington, Exchequer of Corrington. The Exchequer had seemingly spontaneously given young Sebastion a man of only 25 his very own ship with a fully payed license, with free rights to rename the vessel and enough money to fund a temporary crew. This transaction is one of the great mysteries of modern Corrington, how a minor noble barely able to get an audience with a government official managed to convince Pennington a well-known tight wad to give him a ship. When asked Sebastion will just say "Pennington has a thing for 'clean' rooms." and leave it at that.

The Aurei Lacerta The personal ship of Revon de Crocodil, which he sails on trading missions for the Merchant's Colonial Trading Company. Today he sails for the world with a cargo of Rum and nails. His first mate Vasco keeps an eye out for sea rats from the bow. My first ship, which was a challenge. C&C welcome! LDD doesn't have sails. Should've used Mecabricks for this one.

This was my first attempt to make an LDD Ship and the first of my own creations for a large ship. Normally, I just modify the sets. This is a small MOC from a while ago. As you can see it doesn't have any sails because I couldn't find any good parts for that. It has 3 Redcoats and 1 pirate! It has different weapons to example swords etc. This is also my first pirate MOC (I'm 13) but I will do more in the future. Any suggestions? Just tell me in the comments. This is my shiptember that will become a shiptober, because i didn´t have time to finish it. it´s composed by a minifig scaled living space and a cargo area with a 6x6 exploration buggy. Each compartment have a detachable roof. A aplied a retractible landing gear that can support the ship weight. The cargo area have a ramp door to unload the buggy. The living space is not completed, i will had a lab, beds, infirmary and a wc. I´m also thinking about creating some kind of wings with reactors at the rear of the ship and improve the front, mayby add a cockpit with a windscreen. Hope you like it so far.

He still didn't like the idea about killing Corries and Ollies in cold blood, but the two groups had been about to slaughter each other at the lagoon so what difference did it really make? Left to their own devices, one of the two parties would have killed the other and then turned their attention on the Sea Rats. The recent Pirate Purge had shown that to be true. Just because they didn't want to follow a tyrannical king or pay heavy taxes to an unfair trade company the Sea Rats were labeled villains and scallywags. Perhaps he didn't agree with Li's methods, but he couldn't argue with the results. There was much Sinbad still wasn't sure about. He didn't know if serving under Cho had been better than serving under Li. Both men commanded respect and under both men the crew had seen gold flowing into their pockets. But under Cho there had been no expression of their freedom from the chains of the ruling nations. In truth they had acted little different from one of the Empire's lackeys while under Cho. Under Li they at least showed the Empires that they were free men, free to earn their money the way they wanted to. But was slaughtering men in cold blood really the best way to do that? Sinbad had been lost in thought as he walked through the hold but when he heard voices he stopped. "Listen men, we can't keep following this joke of a captain" said the man in the hat. Sinbad recognized all four of the crew members, even in the dim light of the hold. It appeared not everyone shared his view that Li's results were good ones. "He keeps sending us on wild goose chases!" the ranting continued. "We need a captain who actually has a plan, not just one who's out for his own personal glory. What does his glory get us? Not more gold, at least not for us!" "I say we bide our time until his back is turned and we push him overboard!" said one of the other pirates. "Naw, everyone would know who did it. We gotta make it look like an accident" said another. "Then we're all agreed. We'll find a way to get rid of the captain. Then we can get rid of his runt, that Sinbad" finished the boss in the hat. Well that wasn't something Sinbad expected to hear. The crew thought of him as a stooge for Li? Sinbad thought he had become a respected member of the crew. Could it really be that they just feared him like they feared Li? And no matter how much he disagreed with Li's methods, he wasn't about to let a bunch of low-life scum take him out. He would have to think of something. And soon.
