Really great! It completely fits in with Orthanc and feels like a (huge!) retail set. I like the details like the 9 rings and the detailing around the lower part of the tower. I think the Eye could use a little more fire, though. I'd totally buy one!

I'm not quite sure which ones you're referring to, but if you mean the red ones in the first several tutorial pictures, that's a Technic Chain Link (part no. 3711) and can be found in LDD (Extended) under the Tires & Wheels section (along with the other types of tread I see used on the page you referenced, some of them also named with "link" instead of "tread" which might make them harder to find when searching).

Would probably be best built from multiple pieces, but perhaps this part in trans-black would work? Closet I can think of in a single piece. If you search here or google for "Lego huey" you'll get plenty of inspiration. Also, here are two specific ideas on how to go about brick-building something along those lines. Happy building! If you come up with a particularly excellent solution, please share!

The overall design is nice, but I agree that the part usage on the eyes is outstanding!

Just gorgeous. The brick-built birds on either side of the gate walls and the trees peeking up from the other side great! If only I had taken better advantage when the masonry profile bricks were on the PaB wall!

Doctor Johnson’s chicken-powered Dirigible

Excellent! Really nice shaping on the balloon build at that size, too. My only criticism would be that there's no place to store extra fue... er... chickens! -
That's delightful. The dog especially is great!

Wow, very nice! It has me thinking I should hit a PaB wall and see what they've got! OK, I'm going to ask the obligatory question: Any interior on this one, or plans for one? Beautiful work!

Well, I agree that the wedge isn't ideal, but I still absolutely love this! Nicely done.

How do you dust between the studs on LEGO?
deraven replied to The Steward's topic in General LEGO Discussion
If you can afford a cleanroom for Lego display, just have your housekeeping staff deal with the dust and don't worry about it! But I know what you mean- there are custom-build, sealed acrylic display cases made in appropriate Lego-friendly dimensions, though they can add up in expense pretty quickly. Another good option is Ikea glass cabinets (Detolf is a very popular one) for which there are numerous guides online about how to easily dust-proof them for long-term display. I'd probably lean in one of those directions myself. -

Ah, yes, sorry. You can loop it back and knot it there, but you don't need to. If I recall correctly, it doesn't end up fully unwound in use so in addition to the friction you have several loops of string around it that helps keep it all in place as well. -
I like the colors and overall build, too!

How do you dust between the studs on LEGO?

Yes, very soft paint brush is the way to go. Toothbrush can scratch. The other thing that works great is a set of (unused!) makeup brushes. You can get a set of 5-10 different types/shapes/sizes (which can be really helpful getting into nooks and crannies) on Amazon in the $10 range. This is overkill, but here's a good example (that fan-type brush is very useful). I know some folks in the past have used very soft brush wheels with a Dremel tool to quickly clean stuff, but as much as I like using a Dremel, that worries me a bit as it'd have to be a *very* soft brush to avoid scratching the bricks even at the lowest speed. Also, there are brushes made specifically for dusting models that also help with things like dissipating static electricity so less dust gets pulled back on to the model after you finish dusting like this one, but you could of course also just get any other very soft antistatic brush and it'd probably work fine in that regard. -

While I think there is plenty of friction to hold it, I believe in step 185 where you've got the 2 2x4 technic plates with holes sandwiched around the 2x2 round plate, it looks like that loop of string should have a simple knot making the loose loop through that assembly secure. Then everything else built on top of it should be more than enough to allow any slippage. -
Love it! So much detail everywhere! The posing is great throughout, and there are so many little touches that I really like... hmm... let's see... I especially like the guy hiding in the barrel, the parts usage on all the "liquid pouring out of a bottle" scenes, and the way you did the lift-out second floor. Just great all-around!

Another tired and unoriginal UCS Falcon topic..
deraven replied to Wonderpants's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Personally, I'd get replacement rigging (black for cheap, and if it bothers you spray paint it grey (I'm usually a purist, but for simple aesthetics on a display piece when the original runs around $200... no)), different dish, and would probably pick up an original manual (I just like having 'em) and the plaque (if you're displaying it this seems like a reasonable buy). But as krisandkris12 said, it really depends on what your goal is with the set. -
OK, this is by far my favorite one yet! The eyes, again, are great, but everything else about it is wonderful, from the piece usage to the posing. Wow!

Looks great overall, and definitely NPU on the helmets & minifig sideburn prints for the eyes! Keep 'em coming!
-
Looks good! But I don't think that's Batman on there!
-
Nice solution on the shoes (and the rest of the outfit looks good), but I wonder if an actual bugle piece wouldn't work better for the trumpet? Doesn't lend itself to posing as well, though...

Nice.

Beat me to it! This works very well, but can't really be reduced in size. Also, you can do this with click hinges to achieve 1xn size, but it'll be 5 plates thick because of the size of the click hinge joint itself, so the old finger hinges are definitely preferred for most things I'd use this option for.

Welcome to EB, HBVRaiden! LDD is a decent substitute until you can reclaim your physical brick. Looking forward to seeing your creations!

MOC Race rod

Lovely. I think the body shape is great - that belly view looks a bit like a Star Destroyer profile... not that that's really relevant to anything Technic. I do agree that the front grill might look better if it were curved or split into a shallow V or something, but I love the snake on there. That's a simple but delightful touch! -
It glides as softly as a cloud! Honestly, I wasn't expecting much when clicking on the topic, but this is really good! I understand about some of the features that just can't be added in a reasonable way with the shape and scale, but you've captured the overall feeling very well! Now, you should add 1 more play feature- make the "M" brick-build so it can be tossed overboard as an anchor!
