I love it! Great parts usage for the skull up front.

Great all-around, and the brick-build bits of "extra" cloud around it is lovely! I'd also love to see some more detailed picture (the close-up of the gate is awesome!). Also, what's the piece count on this? Looking forward to seeing more of the series, and this one in particular!

I don't love the exterior simply because the style isn't my cup of tea, but still nicely done. I must say, though, that the interior is masterful! I especially love that compact kitchen and the piano! Lovely work- can't wait to see more!

Love the hair- I'm a sucker for redheads!

Really nicely done! The side intakes work so well with that slope piece!

Short answer, but this may be all you need: Open the LDR/LXF file with the Mac version of LDView (here: http://ldview.sourceforge.net/ ), and export to a POV render file from there. Then you can use the Mac port of POV-Ray (there are ports here that work on modern Macs, though I haven't tried it since I upgraded to Yosemite) to do the actual render (available here: http://megapov.ineta...unofficial_mac/ ).

So great. The cave shapes and those brick-built trees are fantastic. Nice application of greenery overall, too. My only criticism is that, even with the build video, I wish you had more pictures posted of these creations so we could take in the details more closely!

A really nice rendition! The parts usage with the pistols and croissants on the face is great!

Wow- so nicely done in that small space! I especially like the roof and the variety of grave markers. The leaf/canopy shape on the tree in the middle seems too small/compact for the size and shape of the trunk, but the tree trunk itself is a lovely and interesting build. Well done!

Was just about to say the same thing- I'd do dark brown arms with the detail pattern printing where it can be done, and then it blends much better. This just looks unfinished and not up to your usual standards. Still, great character to produce, and my first thought was also, "Where's Teddy as his accessory?"

Man, that accomplishes such a solid atmospheric feeling in a 16x16. Nice!

The water spray is outstanding! Seeing it free-standing without the X-Wing in the shot is pretty cool.

Doors + cheese slopes for sure! -
Yes, I'd be thinking about the insurance plan as well! Very nice.

Wow! I'm nit one for cutting Lego in general, but that's one of the best results I've ever seen! Excellent creativity putting those together (both figuratively and literally). :D -
Right, I'm also hoping the tree and roof is improved! One thing I noticed that I thought was a little odd- the swapped the color on the awning. Instead of white-red-white-red, it's the opposite. Pretty minor and doesn't really "enhance" the build any, but I kinda like that it makes it look a little bit more distinct if you do get it and place it near the original one.

Spiffy atmospheric entry, beautiful crash (and that smoke coming up!), and then the build with the big tree he's sleeping under is fantastic (and I really like the way that photo is lit, too)!

I'm also disappointed, but tempering my disappointment with the fact that if they did re-release a slightly updated Cafe Corner I'd be very happy to stop bricklinking one and snap it up (while some folks would be angry about it), so I can understand folks who didn't get a Toy Shop initially being pleased about this since for them it's essentially a new WV set. Still, I'm surprised this was the decision and that it wasn't released along with something new. Like the WV Advent Calendar I mentioned- that would have been easy to pull off and would have added something for the rest of us AND for anyone coming in new. Honestly, if I "save" this $80 it'll just go to something else Lego instead that I'd have to have had debated about, so at least it makes the choice easier... so, again... disappointment tempered.

I just don't really know what to think about it. It does seem a bit slapdash overall. I mean, even the Designer Video seems like they just said, "Hey- sit down and say couple things about this really quick!" Granted, there's not a lot to highlight that changed, but still... I do think it's nice for folks that missed out, of course, but I just still don't get the reasoning behind it as they've made such a big point of not doing re-releases unless the theory about a last-minute solution being necessary is indeed correct. My biggest point of confusion is that they could have done more with the same part count to updated it or differentiate it. As other have mentioned above, use profile bricks where it makes sense, maybe change up the lamp/bench build for something else (or use a streetlamp design from one of the other sets - would it kill this village to have 2 matching streetlights??), update the large Christmas tree build and fix that horrible ladder-with-giant-foot thing. As it stands, the most desirable things for me in it are the new minifigs (mainly the carolers since the different prints let you make a nicer group of singers for the village), and the printed shop sign. You know what I think they should have done if they wanted to basically phone something in for Winter Village this year? A WV Advent Calendar filled with little expansion pieces for the village. They could have included those caroler minifigs, plus a singing child or two (that would make for a nice looking set of singers), naturally some extra toy & present builds would work, perhaps some additional elves for Santa's Workshop along with tools, a sweets cart for the baker to use at the market, maybe a couple of micro-builds that together make another stall or game for the WV Market, and I'm sure they could come up with a lot more, especially if they upped the pricepoint a little bit from where the advent calendars usually are just like the bumped up the price of the Toy Shop from where it had been. That would have been cool for those of us who already have all the WV stuff, but also nice for someone without all the previous sets or who just wants some additional winter-themed Lego.

Which was the first LEGO system set ever released?
deraven replied to mahkasu's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I'd agree that you need to decide what you're meaning by "LEGO System set" as there were others that were marketed as Lego Mursten and System i Leg in 1955. Some examples: http://lego.wikia.com/wiki/1210_Small_Store_Set http://lego.wikia.com/wiki/1236_Garage_Med_Automatisk_Port http://lego.wikia.com/wiki/1237_Esso_Station Still, those are very nice early sets you have. -
Beautiful MOC, and great cause! Where are those guitars from- they're great, as are the brick-build instruments!
