42083 - Bugatti Chiron
brunojj1 replied to Jurss's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
A "gapless" bodywork isn´t a priority for the TLC designers and it never will be. Above all, it´s getting more and more impossible since all the recent color variations in blue don´t offer flex axles, angled connectors and other smaller elements to come close to that abstract goal. However a comparison to the 8880 supercar is completely redundant IMO. We are living in the studless era now. For example I have sitting 8880 on my shelf directly next to the 42056 Porsche. Absolutely nothing to compare - it´s always the one and only nostalgic assessment which comes to my mind. That´s my biggest hope! The blurry picture seems to reveal that, but who knows, maybe we will get parts in another new shade of blue again.. -

Any more "news" after April Fool´s day ?.. From the industrial business point of view I can´t immagine there are still improvements going on. Instead I suppose the conveyor belts are running day and night to supply the numbers for the hungry market launch. Another thought that came to my mind which I didn´t hear so far anywhere, in the speculation section as well: could it be possible that we are getting 2 x alternative liveries for a (detachable?) bodywork in different color schemes ? That would definitely explain the high parts count.. -

@Lipko: I don´t judge this as "bad news" at all. Buying a house is a much more important thing in life (which I haven´t accomplished yet too). Doing it up then requires a lot of time of course (making babies doesn´t though ). I wish you all the best and don´t refrain from coming aroung from time to time . -

[MOC] Ultimatum GTR v10 Supercar
brunojj1 replied to Pvdb's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
@Pvdb: Fabulous job ! The overall shape is amazing and the color combo is great. I can imagine this car would look great in black with decent accents in yellow e.g. as well. I love the long wheelbase and it allowed you btw to fit in this incredible gearbox. I`m happy you haven´t retired from building supercars (and sharing them with others). Warning to the copycats: don´t dare to make this with your dirty cheap elements: the gearbox won´t work with them! -

If those are Amalgam limited edition models, what I suppose, the starting price is 9.530,00 EUR = 11.737,05 USD. That´s just for the normal variant blue / dark blue exterior. The other bespoke option with variable exterior colors cost 10.660,00 EUR = 13.128,75 USD. Probably TLC got some extra discount, who knows.. Facit: the ultimate colloctors of Technic cars are lucky getting away with "cheap" 369,00 EUR per set or something ... -
Very nice work again - I instantly recognized the car when I saw the first picture ! It seems your dear customer is a citizen of British Empire, same who ordered the recent Ferrari 458 ? I love the creative front grill. The idea with the soft top is very original, although I think the overall solution is not very elegant (I couldn´t do better anyway ). The side view reveals some disproportion - IMO the rear end could be a stud higher and look a bit bulkier. Anyway, fantastic and professionally executed job!

[WIP] High performance car
brunojj1 replied to Rudivdk's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Your bodywork sketch looks very promising and I´m curious about the outcome, considering the fact you don´t use any angled connectors which for myself I can´t immagine ever to do. And what an amazing progress on the gearbox, love it ! -

brunojj1 replied to Jurss's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
We know for sure that the Chiron features a huge parts count (+900 compared to the Porsche) and I´m very curious how and where they are being used.. Reasonable if many tiny system parts are used to finish some edges & fill gaps etc. If used in a smart and subtle way, I´m in favour of such a building style, but they shouldn´t cover big areas criss-cross style. Can´t wait for some prelim pictures. -
Bravo, @nerdsforpresz ! It was worth it to rework it, works better, looks a lot better, is more compact and comes much closer to the real thing. And of course you are right regarding the scale - the real engine is HUGE!

They´re having supply / productions bottle necks at the moment, according to their customer service. They couldn´t tell any specific delivery date for my pending orders too which I probably will cancel soon. There is not one single seller on ebay in Germany unfortunately... If you´re living in USA, I´d suggest you should buy them on ebay - various sellers are showing up there.

[MOC] Ford Focus RS 500
brunojj1 replied to DugaldIC's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Congratulations to Georg (aka @Polo-Freak), the happy customer! He has become a friend of mine over the years, we share the same passion related to Technic Supercars. The Ford Focus is his favorite car – he is driving a real one himself. And now his dream has come true with this faithful and lovely replica on his shelf! @DugaldIC, after the brilliant Aston Martin you have created another masterpiece, WOW! Especially I like this one sentence from you: That means – you have put so much work and dedication into this model, I can´t immagine it was just doing a job for a client. You have shown the whole repertoire, including a 6–speed gearbox, pneumatic brakes, precision work on the micro level. Magnificent headlights! Those seats are gorgeous and their mechanics are beyond comprehension. What are these big "scoop" elements in the front (between headlights / under the bonnet)? I didn´t even know they exist. Very clever use however! -
I have made the same experience few weeks ago after receiving 2 of these (not so cheap btw) devices. No user manual inside the cardboard packaging . After having downloaded it, I couldn´t find the fix for my problem. I guess the green flashing means the need for updates on the device which will start automatically after successfull connection. My fault was that I tried to use BuWizz on my 7.0 Android phone, iPad - no bluetooth pairing was possible. The error was like "password rejected by Buwizz" or something. After having overcome my hate feelings the next day I tried again with my older phone, 5.1.1 Android, and - Heureka! - it worked out well . Wish you good luck!

[WIP] Bugatti Chiron 1:8
brunojj1 replied to Leviathan's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Maybe he has moved to Billund with it and since then the project became top secret ?... No wonder if the parts count will exceed above 3.000 pieces.. And probably we will see it finished in August this year latest? Of course I´m joking, but I haven´t lost hope we will see this MOC finished one day, regardless the release of the 42083 set.- 60 replies

brunojj1 replied to Jurss's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I´m curious about its dimensions as well. If we´re looking at the real dimensions of both cars, there is not such a big difference in total. Below you can see the dimensions / proportions of the 42056 Porsche which match the 1:8 scale not perfectly, but if you round the numbers up, you can say it´s pretty well in scale. I calculated the estimated dimensions of the 42083 Chiron based on the theoretical ratios. I really want to know what the +900 parts are used for... Porsche 911 GT3 RS dimensions in mm Technic 42056 in mm in studs scale proportions Length 4545 568 71 1 : 8,00 Width 1880 248 31 1 : 7,58 Height 1291 148 18,5 1 : 8,72 Wheelbase 2456 312 39 1 : 7,87 Bugatti Chiron dimensions in mm Technic 42083 in mm in studs scale proportions Length 4544 568 71,0 1 : 8,00 Width 2038 255 31,8 1 : 8,00 Height 1212 152 18,9 1 : 8,00 Wheelbase 2711 339 42,4 1 : 8,00 Wow - that´s interesting! So the question is now: What does "different shades of blue" mean?? I hope the rear part will be dark blue and not black. Tan interiour is confirmed, very nice ! -

brunojj1 replied to Jurss's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Of course !! So here we go: the printed 1x1 tile on the steering wheel seems to have tan color. Based on that you can say the whole interior has to be in tan color! -

brunojj1 replied to Jurss's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I can´t say it has been confirmed. But you can bet it will for several reasons: - in the video of the prototype you can clearly see a big gearbox, therefore you can assume it´s the most important mechanism (btw. you can exclude any kind of PF already) - the high piece count is an indicator for sophisticated mechanisms like a gearbox - a sequential 8 speed has been done by MOCers already from pieces which already exist, the best example I know of is the one designed from Jeroen Ottens in his Aston Martin DB11 - after the big desaster in the Porsche (wrong shifting order, a lot of friction etc.), the high expectations concerning a working gearbox can´t be ignored in any way - again - this is the core element of the Technic Supercar - it´s time to release new clutch gears other than 16t which we have for decades now, to add fun to the game. And it´s a different designer this time - let´s give him a chance . Let´s keep it in this sporty spirit . -
42083 - Bugatti Chiron
brunojj1 replied to Jurss's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
We are running out of things to talk about? Yes, because all we know for sure is the particular car and it has 4 wheels. And no, because these are new wheels with different attachment points and other new parts. If you only consider the appearance of new clutch gears, it will open a whole new universe for possibilities in building gearboxes! A working gearbox has been the core of the Technic Supercar ever since, even in the first era of the naked chassis. Today we´re getting closer to realism than ever with a 7+R speed transmission like in the real car. At least the set consists of around +900 parts than the 42056 Porsche, in the mean while playing in the same 1:8 scale league. So you can estimate this set being very interesting for us enthusiasts. Nevertheless, for most buyers of the targeted audience it´s still a display set of which they will wipe the dust once in a while and check the functions. For me it will endure 3 days on the shelf and then immediately serve as parts pack for my future MOCs. -

brunojj1 replied to Jurss's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Of course. And the bigger the wheels are, the more significant the slack and the wobbling will be. I hope for brake discs between wheel and hub instead of the suggested pulley wheels. -

brunojj1 replied to Jurss's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Congrats to all car lovers! Very beautiful wheels, soo nice ! The price is insane, regardless the high piece count .. But on the other hand - the Ultimate Collectors will buy it, it´s relatively cheap compared to the parts costs for an average MOC, even in smaller scale. I guess in the video we can see a very early prototype - everything can change in the end product. But I agree about the engine - it´s way too big and sits too high in the car. Why on earth couldn´t they design new cylinders / smaller engine blocks? The wheels´ attachment points seem to be behind the virtual pivot point in the center. There is no need for new hubs - you could easily attach them like this: EDIT: is it possible we will see REAL brake discs here?? -
We can still speculate, wish and dream for a few days... What Italian cars are in the Speed Champions series? Ferrari 458 Italia GT2, Ferrari LaFerrari, Ferrari FXX K, F1 car, ... I would give a sh..t about any mechanical failures, similar to the tremendous technical issues in the 42056, if it would be one of the mentionned above ! Of course any of them has a chance, at least in red color, so I´ll keep building my own .
-
That would be a possibility which sounds plausible to me too. I see it the opposite way: while retiring the Porsche, it´s necessary to launch the next one in the series and boost the sales numbers again. Probably we shouldn´t raise too high expectations this time, only to get disappointed again in the end . But the anticipation usually delivers the greater joy than the real thing, like kids waiting for Christmas .. If the new model would look as much appealing as the Porsche and bring at least interesting new parts, like rims, I will be satisfied (not about the price though, again!) I highly doubt this, because you can exclude another orange model for 99,9 % certainty. Doesn´t mean that the Senna will exist only in one colour, but I simply can´t immagine that. The 2H sets usually are being launched in August or later, depends on the country. My suggestion was the AMG GT3 for some reasons, but it´s not my favourite at all. Another car with front engine, such as a yellow Corvette, would be nicer IMO. On the other hand, unlikely as well, the yellow seems to be reserved for the construction stuff. I´m curious and hopefully we will get some leaks from Spielwarenmesse in Nuremberg next week!
