  1. I remember the V2 back then, wondering "how on earth can one put all these motors and functions into such compact space..." Jurgen, it´s good to know you´re still alive and back in business ! Would you like to tell why you were away from building for some time?
  2. You will hate the challenge first because you have to expand your thinking too which feels uncomfortable for a while, but soon you will love the space you will have for crazy mechanisms everywhere . Bodyworking is quite the same challenge and the other hand you need to buy many many more panels... I liked the 8070 alternative gearbox approach very much too, and the easy motorization option . You can play constantly with the adjustable suspension of the P1. One feature which I even didn´t mention or show in the video, is the possibility to synchronise both heights and sides of the model. E.g. you want to have a slightly higher rear end, making the car look more sporty to your taste. Let´s hope they won´t dare to do so, I was lucky to be not good enogh with my models yet. I don´t have anything to add here. The whole project startet approx. 1 year ago and is still ongoing which wasn´t planned so, but who cares. The desing itself probably took half the time and the entire model was mainly finished in February. I don´t like to remember my prototypes, therefore no fun sharing WIP pictures. Your version of the car is very unique and good considering that was your first serious Technic MOC ever! My saying about rims, it all won´t help. There is no way around third party parts, if you can´t wait the release of the next UCS car. I know about your rugged-rigid-concrete obsession and I love the fact how you can set your own standards to you building style and follow it with all consequences . My priority indeed always has been creating a tunnel which looks realistic and meanwhile being structurally solid. Means it shouldn´t pop out between the seats like a thick prison wall, so that the driver even can´t see into the happy passenger´s eyes .
  3. There will be some published with the release of the RC version. You can gain an impression by checking @Polo-Freak´s version on the page before.
  4. Of course, but I don´t like the look. I have mine chromed now btw .
  5. Thanks! I was curious about your opinion. And I could bet you would issue a comment about the missing gearbox . I´m warning you - you will discover more nasty things all over the model... It has been designed to my own standards only, but everybody is free to compare and judge according to his own preferences. You´re welcome! You still make me jealous of the cleaner look without blue dots everywhere... Thanks a lot again! Yes, I think the idea is worth to follow in my future projects. In the end you will have a modular chassis fitting into the approx. scale and no need to redesign everything for the next project, rather adapt and upgrade. E.g. the suspension mechanism is something I want to have in a supercar of modern ages where this feature is a must have. Another idea is to install a well designed (maybe by somebody else) gearbox between monocoque and rear axle. Thank you Maté, I couldn´t wait to know your opinion! You are right, the windshield wiper should be a function for itself, but not easy to make. However, you can skip the function, remove the gear inside and shift the selector by simply opening the bonnet and moving the driving ring with your finger, which is not so elegant again... Curious about your opinion after the inspection .
  6. Thank you, Sir! Can´t wait to see your Pagani . You can´t spot any gearbox in the latter ones anyway . And didn´t like to post "comparison pictures" for some reasons... Thanks man! It´s not my first 1:8 car, but the first I´ve published. There were a few failed projects like Ford GT and Ferrari 288 GTO (2 x fails), finished to 50 - 80%. Can´t tell you about the next here, but we will exchange some PM from time to time . Sorry, no. There will be a big RC package worth being offered separately. I´m thinking about a small upgrade for the manual model though, which contains 2 LED kits + 1 extension + Battery at the passengers side behind the seat, as part of the package or separately but for free.
  7. The distinction has been made between studded models and „pure“ Technic. So this one doesn´t belong there. Thanks for the compliment! I speculate it could be a AWD Lambo, a member of the VW group too. I´m sorry, nothing can be perfect, especially at this scale. Simply didn´t want to bother anybody with inconvenient stuff (joking ) However, you´ll find out they´re quite different The suspension keeps the weight very well. There are 2 shocks per wheel which should be enough for an almost 4 kg model (motorized). The front is stiffer than the rear, no problems at all. I don´t get why they saved 2 shocks on the Porsche front axle. The big idea of the modularity is – you can build it with 2x motors only and drive from time to time. No need to build the full version. Using these motor combinations is nothing new in my creations. You have to find an acceptable RPM ratio between L and XL motor to get max performance. All motors under load should run smoothly and support each other. The full version combined with 2 x batteries is not as fast as it should be, it´s pretty exhausting for standard Lego batteries. 2 x BuWizz should work a lot better, but I couldn´t really test it yet (problems with BT/apps). Thank you my friend for going into a professional and balanced analysis ! I Agree about this point. But it can become part of the „playing“, at least it has for me, unexpected. You are the one who mentioned it. I love your gearbox designs very much, among few others like PvdB e.g. That´s one of the problems - the bar has been set high long ago before the new gearbox parts of the Bugatti were on the horizon. I don´t need a halfbaken, space consuming mechanism which doesn´t do anything interesting. However, it shouldn´t be impossible to install one into the module between cockpit and rear axle. Admittedly they look a bit rough, but on the other hand they contribute to the overall flow of the line. Good point, it´s very crucial to make a chassis as stiff as possible. It can´t be compared to the stiffness of e.g. the Bugatti, but I would say it´s similar to the Porsche. The tunnel between the seats has 5 studs in width and height – means as low and as narrow as possible. The 3x11 panels at the sides help too – such compomises can be called crazy by others. You can´t have it all. I can´t distinct matt and gloss black panels, rather consider the suitable shape to fit in here and there . I think there were so many challenges, not easy to tell in a few words or to pick one special. Probably the adjustable suspension was the biggest one with countless rebuilds to make everything compact. It was a very long journey which I enjoyed most of the time, but many frustrations were also a big part of the experience. I´m sharing a lot of thoughts, pictures, ideas about Lego in general, but as well my WIP with polofreak. Maybe I will share more on that later, thanks for your interest. This is your part, although I´d love to see another car from you ! But I understand, you have to decide at some point where to put your energy and develop (not endless) capacities. To all: big thanks for your warm words and positive feedback which is very motivating!
  8. Do I need to introduce the phenomenal McLaren P1 to anybody? Probably not, everybody knows the hottest rival of the LaFerrari/Porsche 918 Spyder, which all together exist since half a decade ago already. My model presented here isn´t all about a specific car brand, if you take a deeper look. The priorities here: a good looking bodywork and replication of some spectacular functions which resemble the original machine. An equal priority was set regarding the versatility and modularity of the chassis which comes in 7 separate modules and 2 different versions. One in traditional style with manually operated functions, all to be winded up and down by black 20-teeth gears. And one bold approach on a remote control chassis of which the motorization of the drivetrain can be modified within 3 possible options. Specs: Length: 73 studs (58cm); width: 30 studs (24cm); height: 18 studs (14,5 cm) Openable doors, bonnet, removable engine cover Parts count: 3.000+ pcs.; Technic panels count: 136 pcs. Wheels are from #42056 set and painted in silver color. manual chassis: – RWD – front/rear independent suspension – working fake mini V8 – steering + HOG control + working steering wheel + airbrake – adjustable suspension ride – retractable rear spoiler – airbrake activator – butterfly doors operated by handles under the front bonnet – 7 separate detachable modules – luggage compartment with case remote control chassis: – RWD – front/rear independent suspension – working fake mini V8 – 3 motorization options (full version shown) - 2x L; 2x XL; 2x L+2x XL motors – steering + working steering wheel + airbrake - servo motor – adjustable suspension ride - 1x L motor – retractable rear spoiler - 2x M motor – airbrake activator – butterfly doors - 1x L motor – screen wiper used as door selector – 7 separate detachable modules – LED lights - front lights + driver´s display – controlled by 2 x SBricks – powered by 2 x LiPo batteries or 2x BuWizz Can´t believe I´m saying this, but I prefer the manual version above the RC version, although the latter is more sophisticated in design. It´s playability is great, although your fingers will experience some pain after operating all the handles - I would say it´s not really supposed to be a toy for little children . As I promised once - my models will always come with instructions. Thorsten Spelz helped me out again and created magnificent high quality PDF files, many thanks to him! Apologies beforehand – they can´t be offered for free due to the huge amount of recources put into them. Also I wanted to mention the biggest Technic supercar collector I´m aware of – our dear EB fellow Georg aka polofreak. He accompanied the design process and pushed me to improve some sections of the model and tested the manual instructions. His exclusive version has no blue pins, avoided colored axles and gears whereever possible and it looks even better than mine ;-). Instructions and partslist of the manual version are available. Instructions and partslist of the RC version can be found here. More pictures can be found here. Constructive critics, feedback and questions are highly apreciated! Enjoy and have a great day!
  9. Of course I use the app and everything, reinstalled the current app. "Error scanning for devices!" occurs every time unfortunately. I got it working on a much older android a few months ago, although I couldn´t use 2 x BuWizz at the same time back then, but it worked. Do you get similar reports from newer Android versions? Which tutorial should I follow?
  10. Thanks. However, I couldn´t get it work on my Android phone (version 8.0) though. BT pairing not possible. Or should I use a hammer first?...
  11. @Zerobricks: congratulations and good to know! Wish you a lot of success with that. I´m expecting a lot from this device in the future which I couldn´t use yet as intended. Will check the new videos. I want to use it as a battery box only, serving as simple power source for my SBricks! Is that possible already without being a software expert?
  12. Yes, I think it´s obvious. But let´s shift back to the topic: the red axle from the Chiron set is very versatile for this kind of purpose and Lox gave an excellent example how to use it in a creative way . Unfortunately there are not many available yet on BL, so what 3d party stuff we should look for ?? Transparent even possible?
  13. I envy you guys having so much fun together sharing your skills (my brothers don´t ), pushing each other to new levels ! Great B-model, build in such record time, although the PF components don´t belong to the set. The rear view is spectacular and compliments for these fantastic rear lights! Nevertheless, being a McLaren fan myself, I have to issue some critique - to me this MOC doesn´t resemble the 570 S that much - just my humble opinion. Because the lights contours replicated to scale are an essential component of the charactaristic look of any car. Anyway, very nice project!
  14. Congratulations to this achievement! I like them a lot - they look so sweet on these wheels . I really appreciate your philosophy of constant development and ongoing perfection of one single concept (and your skills btw) instead of pumping out mediocre MOCs every now and then.
  15. Impressive work ! I´m happy you could find some free time and generate new energy to present it to us! What comes next? Grab 2 x #42083 cranes and build one bigger machine ? BTW - I don´t know yet what to do with these angled panels when it comes to much smaller vehicles ..
  16. I´m having exactly the same issue, has been reported in some reviews as well. My 4y old son doesn´t care about the gearbox, he´s happy about the blue color, speed key and handbag instead . Regarding the suspensions: I have tan 3L pins installed in the front. At the rear all original - and it´s sagging after being pushed. This way I have similar heights on both axles. Haven´t put the stickers onto the car yet, maybe that makes some difference too
  17. Thanks for issuing your personal opinion, man! Why are you sad about it? You can be proud of it . Btw. I agree and disagree. These are different eras with different parts and focuses. Yours is executed best way in that time, no question. However, the overall looks with panels are more realistic and more pleasant to most of the people IMO. The comparison lags at some point. Why does the gearbox fail in your opinion? At least we can be happy to experiment ourselves with the new parts and "improve" everything. Suspension of the Chiron: aren´t there 2 hard yellow springs instead of 1 like we have in the Porsche? Still too heavy means on the positive hand good weight distribution between, but shocks being mounted at different angles on the axles. I personally even don´t mind if the room for improvements would be given deliberately, after having made peace with the predecessor . Take it as a challenge for yourself, I`m sure you did already !
  18. Agree. A man doesn´t need a handbag. Anyway, you have to go with the time and not let the trunk empty. In my current WIP I´ve used this CASE (only 1 of them fits): And they are quite functional btw, giving the chassis front more rigidity, prevent gears from sliding... Black/alu rims and black rear would be a dream, but not everybody´s taste too. Simply paint or chrome them and you have your own exclusive.
  19. You are missing another one in your collection, which is very nice btw : Excited about the new Bugatti parts. A new generation of gearboxes is on the horizon with a trillion more possibilities and a lot more fun in building and playing.
  20. Kids like to play with things they are familiar with, but can´t handle in real life, such as big vehicles of all kind. AFOLS like me want to own and play a supercar of which they can´t afford a real one, most likely never in their life. A 3.500 pcs McLaren or Ferrari.
  21. Thank you for sharing all the pros and contras of your WIP. Let´s see the revival of the legendary Miura in a new spectacular shape ! I envy you for the opportunity to cooperate with such a talented designer. Now, after having seen your sketches of the bodywork, the whole thing becomes more interesting (to me), although I´m not so superficial or ignorant of course, knowing how important the chassis workings are for the end result. Engine raised by one stud causes a new problem: the engine hood won´t fit the parameters of the scaled side view shown above, which btw is beautiful and very challenging to keep the proportions. The paneling in dark azure seems to be very hard. Did you think of using third party pneumatic hoses in this color instead of flex axles as alternative?
  22. I can´t confirm the issue regarding the new generation bushes in LBG (shown on the picture) which have been reinforced quite a while ago. The old ones were all cracking. When it comes to this part, it appears to me that the cracking appears especially on black parts. Not so much on LBG parts, who knows maybe they have a different mixture of stabilizing components e.g. titanium dioxide in its recipe. Or it also depends on damage caused by simple UV light which can harden chemical components in plastics and make them brittle. The easy solution I can think of: replace bushes by 2x half bushes or 1L beams, whatever is better in the particular situation. Friction snaps to be replaced from other colors.
  23. Congratulations! This is simply incredible, I´m almost speechless .. Although nothing is perfect in this model, many compromises had to be made. But the overall package is so spectacular! Especially I love the modularity and the RC/manual choice in one model . An ultimate challenge you have faced there, not least when the official set was announced which probably made it not easy to continue and finish it. You took your time and it was worth it . Technically it´s by far the most dense and most functional supercar MOC of all times. The 42083 Chiron has lost this battle already . The 1 stud change made the crucial difference and rounded up the whole appearance, well done.
  24. Great job on this replica, very recognizeable - especially I like the rear view ! This is one massive built. All the dimensions / proportions seem to be correct and flow really well. All openable doors and bonnets motorized ... The old tires/rims suit well and contribute to the retro feeling of the car, but obviously they have the disadvantage with bad unrealistic offset and pivot point - did you limit the turn radius so much for that reason? One detail appears quite strange for me (probably I´m ignorant about American cars) - so why does the air cleaner rotate?
