42111 - Fast & Furious car
Gray Gear replied to Kaanere's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
So there is actually something this set is good for... I bet my dumb @ss will find a way to need this frame for my MOC, now that I know it is available in a useful color ...hopefully it will be available on Bricks&Pieces soon... For like 4€/piece -

You are right, there will ba a lot of slack in the steering with this small suspension piece -

TLG might see this as an argument, but I dont. I dont see why you would make the car more ugly to save like 10ct per model, when you gladly pay for a useless F&F license, in addition to the Dodge license that you need as well, right? I mean the only thing that is F&F on this set is the advertising, right? The model itself could be sold with just a Dodge license... But I guess they hope that the F&F nameplate will attract more Buyers from outside the LEGO community... -
I assume we are talking about non-RC cars? Some cars (like the Defender) have a fcked up gearbox that will make the fake engine turn faster when you shift up while maintaining the same wheel speed, while it should be the exact opposite. The engine should do less revolutions per wheel revolution when you shift up.

Does it at least have working flip up headlights? Otherwhise they left out the coolest thing about the charger... -

This looks more like a MOC than a official Set. The Roof construcrion looks hella fragile. And I dont get why they didn't use the smooth 3x11 panel eith less holes over the back wheels -

And I thought about making a joke how TLG wouldn't give us black wheel arches even if they made a black car when i first heard about this set... -
Wow, a very nice looking model. I am more of a 90s jdm guy, so I dont know that much about american cars, but I kinda expected to see something with a huge supercharger sticking out of the hood

[MOC] Datsun 240Z
Gray Gear replied to legomarat's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hell yeah, I love Wangan Midnight, and the 240z is a real beauty. Everything is so smooth, well done. I especially like the rear. The only thing bothering me are the Wheel arches, they just don't fit right. And the ammount of color variation is just, OOF... Not your fault, but still sucks.- 23 replies

I like the older generatins Subaru WRX better, but still, its a nice car The land rover wheels look way better than the other ones, keep them on there And I still dislike the wheel arches.

Hypercar 2XV10
Gray Gear replied to Zerobricks's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
So the UTE Supercar is dead? Thats sad to hear... What the hell man, Is this a case of "I invented this thing thats kinda cool and kinda useless so I'll build something to give it some purpose?" i cant really see the purpose of having 2 seperate drivetrains on a manual model. But hey, if you have fun doing it and just enjoy the engineering challenge, go and do it. With your skill it will probably turn out nicely The front half looks nice, especially the gullwing doors. But the rear half that curves in so damn exteme...It reminds me of the Ford GT, and I dont like the Ford GT... -
It wasn't exactly what I expected to see when i read the title, but it counts I guess But what the hell is that rear shock absorber setup? Never seen something like this. I would understand if the mount of the long shocks was made to move from side to side to increase rear axle flexibility, but since it isn't I just cant see why you would use 2 different sized shocks As a child's toy I can see this working very well, the 5x11 frame in the front should be able to take any impact that might happen The unprotected front wheels probably are a weakspot when crashing into something, but what can you do...

Ferrari F40
Gray Gear replied to jorgeopesi's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
@jorgeopesi You should definatelly revisit the gearbox as well. I can see nothing that would prevent you from putting the shift lever in the middle between two gears and engaging them both at the same time. Thats not good. And using liftarms instead of axles for the shift links should make the system more stable as well. -
[MOC] Pagani Zonda R
Gray Gear replied to dls7223685's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Wow, thats almost a straight up copy. Some things have been changed, like no HoG or how the windshield curve is achieved (which looks hella unstable by the way), but not a whole lot. -

Wow, very nice. The body looks very smooth and sleek. Too bad it's not in 1:8, the Porsche wheels would have been much better. And are you sure the mirrors arn't facing the wrong way? -
Toyota Trueno Drift Edition
Gray Gear replied to Touc4nx's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Very nice, as a big fan of Initial D I like this a lot, even though I dont like the 86 that much. Are you dissatisfied with the front, or why are you not showing it in detail? Just joking, you should upload some more pictures, thats what I want to say No pop up headlights is a shame, but I know how hard it is to get them working well While you could have just built the Levin in that case, I can understand why you didn't. I dont really like the Levin as well -
[MOC] 90's Honda NSX
Gray Gear replied to Gray Gear's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I am planing to rebuild this model to have red body color with black interior. The red interior is aready gone, and I started to create Wanted Lists for the red body. I'll have to order quite a bit, i dont have a lot of red pieces (yet). I'll update you again when the rebuild is complete I am not sure about what color to choose for the wheels and brake calippers, what do you think? Maybe I'll spaypaint some wheels white...- 87 replies
