  1. Somehow I assumed that the dark blue aragorn in the gate set would be the same we already had. Now I have just seen his new look with the tree on his chest. If prices do not skyrocket to extreme, it would be nice to have a regiment with dark blue hoods. Still, I will only buy the council and BL Aragorns and eagles.
  2. Very nice!!
  3. Good custom! I cannot really tell what you customized and what was original, but this tells me the outcome is very good.
  4. Are the ship's sails printed on both sides? This way they could make good dragon wings.
  5. +1 for Str0ngbad. We had a very pleasant overseas trade.
  6. I bought a few warrios ladies, a medusa and a revolutionary soldier yesterday. I just reached into the box and the first three figs I felt were 2 warrior ladies and the medusa. Nice. Somehow I must have overlooked that the warrior ladies' spear is dark brown and not reddish brown. Anyway, the torso is great. Everytime I felt the painters bucket my heart jumped because I thought it to be Mr Golds Hat!
  7. Since the eagle offers 4 studs on its back, it would make sense to use one of the techniques that can built a kneeling fig.
  8. Everyone who thinks that this is too expensive and that the eagle is ugly can sell the eagle. To me for example.
  9. Wow... I was going to try and rebuilt in tan, but now that I see the size i am not so sure anymore. Some thoughts: - the eagle is great, the more eagles on the market the better - the figs are not extremely spectacular, but Grimas torso and finally a white wizard with a robe are very versatile - I do not like the ent, but I generally often dislike brickbuilt creatures, especially when technic joints are visible - the interiour ha a lot of nice stickers or printed parts - I feel an urge to strech the towers middle part a bit - Maybe I would have preferred a closed model without interior
  10. Feelings, wohohoo. Thanks, very useful.
  11. Perfect! Make this a set and people will stand in line for this. Seriously, I am not into architecture at all, but this one blew me away. You should cusoo this. Also I love the idea with the tents.
  12. Permanent residents might want to consider Ebay Kleinanzeigen: http://kleinanzeigen.ebay.de/anzeigen/ It is a cost free branch of ebay that works not with auctions but with small ads. It was usually designed for local transactions, but people use it for shipping as well. People often use it as a cost free substitute for Ebay. You can enter where you are and define a radius in which to search. It does not offer any legal security though as it was originally designed for local transaction, i.e. going outto collect the goods yourself. I made some good deals there, for example a kingdoms castle for half price.
  13. It is true what Strongbad says, that the painting is very detailled and very good. I guess if I were to try something like these tatoos, I would be frustrated quite quickly.
  14. I just wanted to mention that Helms Deep in German is "Helms Klamm" which might be confused with the English "clam". Klamm means ravine.
  15. Interesting that a tribe that can afford golden weapons, armors and helmets for their leaders has to live in such a hole. Croc leaders seem to be in debt because they blew all their money on the croc ship. Fuel costs, insurances, polish for the golden weapons, no wonder their home looks so run down. I guess the other tribes are having a good laugh in their shiny temples now. Interesting that evil figs are depicted as shabby ones more. Does evil make you poor? Or is it just because crocodiles like to wallow in the mud.
  16. Uhm, this has nothing to do with the contest itself, but: The white knight fig in the promotional image for the context, it does not exist for real, does it? With a dog on the shield?
  17. I voted for the Damien blade. It was the best sword long before TLG released the new longsword. It looks very legolike. The claymore is very unique, but second place only because it is more realistic and less toylike as orginal lego. Furthermore, I believe, there are by far enough machine guns and rifles and more blades should be made.
  18. Does it make sense to trade with Europeans in terms of shipping costs? I guess only for larger trades.
  19. I have this. Playability is rather limited, the piece per cent ratio is awful and [insert more jokes here].
  20. No, Americans don't exist as something that you can objectively and absolutely measure or trace back as you are trying in this thread. Ask someone what national identity he has, and s/he will answer something like: "Well, I was born in the USA, but my mother is from Mexico and my father is half jewish with a double citizenship and my greatgrandfather came from the Netherlands." "Americans" just exist as a construct, they only exist if you define them by a fixed set of criteria, something we are still looking for here.
  21. On addition to what pillpod wrote, that the criteria for linking a fig to an origin need to be clarified if possible, the list fails completely when it comes to types that are composites. The gorilla is a gorilla suit, therefore it can be linked to gorillas (in various origins) and to gorilla suits (in various origins). Santa has different features: colour, shape, cultural function. Who ist to decide which feature is the one defining his national identity. If you go by color, you end up with the Coca Cola Company. If you go by cultural meaning, well, this opens it to an endless debate. I would say, Santas Color makes 80% of what he is because that is why children recognize him. Identifying and isolating one single national identity does not even work with real people, how on earth is it supposed to work with cultural types that evolved over centuries and nations? Is Volkswagen a German car? Well of course, because it is a German word. But what if Americans use it? But what if 51 % of the car is built in a factory in Poland, assembled in Austria? What if that special car was designed in South Korea for the needs of an Asian market and is not even sold in Germany? So the question "Is Volkswagen a German car?" does not really make sense.
  22. Please make the elephants step on one of the upcoming Chima squirrels one day.
  23. If I find a Mister Gold, I will finally have some chrome gold arms for my Haldir.
