My latest creation, and entry for the Porsche contest. E9Porsche by Saberwing007, on Flickr This model is a possible production version of the radical Mission E concept, dubbed the E9. Now, for some backstory. I started on the model roughly the week after it was announced, but I only finished 10 hours before the competition closed. As such, there are several shortcuts taken with the model, which means that the interior is not quite there, I had to omit some features I wanted to add, some pieces aren't solid, etc. But, aside from that, it looks better than I thought it would, and the chassis features worked until I added the body. Now, onto the features that actually do work. Drive, via 4 L motors, two per axle. I also used one receiver for each set of two. 2 speed gearbox, actuated by 1 M motor, and two small linear actuators. The ratios are probably a little bit close together, with gear 1 being 1:3.89, and gear 2 being 1:2.33 4 wheel steering, with two servos. Steering mode switch, with 1 M motor actuating a PF switch. Allows for four wheel steering, normal steering, and crab steering. Independent suspension on all four wheels, control arm with 2 shock absorbers per wheel. No Ackerman correction or fancy geometry here, which made it more solid, and also made the crab steering work better. I also had a couple of features I wanted to add, but due to lack of time I could not implement them. Lights Opening doors/hood/trunk Adjustable aero Panemera style rear spoiler Indicators for gearbox and steering mode. Interior with functional steering wheel. Adjustable suspension, although I actually made the decision early on to nix it, due to how the axles and suspension are set up. Also, I made a few mistakes with the body work, and so the wheels collide with it That, and there are a lot of dodgy/illegal connections, and the back end looks rather bad, like a real Panemera. Well, at least my gearbox works better than the official one, and it has more interesting suspension to boot. Well, I did learn a lot, and proved that I can still build with a deadline. On the other hand, I am probably never building a 1:8 scale car again, given how freaking ginormous this thing ended up being, and yet it still somehow ended up with not a lot of interior space for functional parts. I might take more pictures later, if you guys want it. The bodywork sucks, so I'm probably not going to include it if I make a video, but the chassis might live on, as something else... We'll see. -
This is my entry for the "Local Landmarks" contest! My model shows a modern building complex that is only a few kilometres away from me in the northeastern part of the city of Munich. It's the "HVB Tower Munich", an administrative bank building (of the HypoVereinsbank). It was completed in 1981 and is still in use, now under monumental protection. With 113m it's one of the highest buildings in Munich (which is not known for skyscrapers :-) ). Even as a kid I was fascinated by this building. Parts of it were build upside down because the floors are hanging down from the supporting columns! Around the central tower there are several lower buldings that belong to the complex. Most of the roofs are planted and there is also a lot of green around the site. The challenge when building this in LEGO was to depict all the different angles, the intricate and nested bulding structures and the planted and glass roofs. I chose the subdued sand green for grass and low vegetation and bright lime for trees and bushes to make for an interesting color combination. LEGO Architecture is an interesting and attractive collection of sets. From the Sears Tower to the Burj Khalifa, many internationally famous buildings have been recreated in a pleasing LEGO form. These world-renowned buildings are special of course, some of us are fortunate enough to live close by. But what about our local landmarks? The structures we are familiar with and enjoy spotting. The building we see and know we're nearly home? Those special things that set our town apart from the next one over? So we at Eurobricks have decided to launch a building contest to recreate a place, building or other structure in LEGO Architecture style. With a number of wonderful prizes generously donated by The LEGO Group. To enter you need to build a local landmark within the design aesthetic of LEGO Architecture and post a picture of your creation next to a photo of the local landmark. Here's my Example; The Newport Transporter Bridge, a landmark in South Wales that is actually just at the end of the street I work on! You don't need to add the labels, I was fortunate to have some printed up for me. There are a few more rules to follow: The Rules Entries must be posted by midnight GMT, July 3rd. One entry per member. Entries must be similar in size to an official release LEGO Architecture set. Entries should be new (never posted anywhere previously) and be similar in style to the previous official TLG releases. All entries are to include only real LEGO. No clone brands, 3rd party parts, or digital entries allowed. Decals will be allowed if you've made them yourself, but no cutting, sculpting or modifying parts. Entries are to be placed in their own entry topic in the Special Themes forum. The title of the topic should begin with "[Local Landmark]" and then give the name of the entry. The entry post (first post in your entry topic) may be edited at any time up to the end of the contest, so feel free to make improvements if you wish. Entries are to consist of no more than 5 posted pictures of 1024x768 pixels or smaller resolution but may also include a link to a folder of additional images of any size. The first picture will be used for your entry in the voting thread. Entries require at least One photo of the real landmark that can be compared to the entry, no more than 1024x768 pixels. This is not counted in the total pictures rule set above. Get a picture from the internet, take your own or find one somehow, but there has to be one. Photos of your creation can be manipulated with Photoshop for levels, proportions and color correction but may not include graphic enhancements. We reserve the right to disqualify any entry that does not follow these rules. Winners will be decided by public vote. Hi! This is my first topic on the forum, I would probably not have posted at all if it weren't for the pneumatic contest. A combination of me seeing the 42053 EW160 and finding my old lego technic from late 90's and early 00's led me to this forum filled with nice people playing with arguably the most versatile toy ever. I'm a trained mechanical engineer, though not practicing my trade yet, and looking back I believe Lego Technic was one of the big inspirations that made me choose that career path. Back in the day I had (and still have) a 8459 pneumatic wheel loader, and now I was leaning towards buying the 42053 EW160. But why not test my skills (and luck?) by making a nice little MOC for the contest. Enough drivel about the good old days, over to what I've come up with so far. Please bear with me, I am aware that you guys are way better at this, have more parts at home etc. The point of this project was to make something that I actually wanted for my already existing sets without costing a fortune for me to buy and build. It's a trailer suitable for both the 8459 and 42053, inspired by the Swedish-made trailers from Metsjö. I wanted it to be more than just a regular trailer with tipping function, so I'm aiming for a two-step high tip function which raises the rear of the bed before tipping it. The tailgate is automatically opening and closing with the tipping, thanks to a lever on each side which are connected to the frame. The final "function", so far, is a parking support in the front. This is what I've come up with so far, I must say that LDD is really bad when you want to try the functionality of your model. I still haven't figured out how to make the pneumatic circuit work as intended. The goal is to put the main switch on the Digger/Loader/Tractor pulling the trailer, leaving the two-step function automated and built into the trailer. So when you pull the lever to tip your load, it first lifts the rear, then tips. I'm hoping that my old friends, the laws of physics, will solve this for me without the need of two extra switches on board to route the air, but I suspect that Murphy's law will decide my fate in the end. So what do you guys think? Too simple and easy? Too predictable? Put on a LA and paint it gray and you'll end up with half an Arocs? Awesome? Improvements? Other ideas? If the feedback is good enough I'll just have to convince my bank account that I need to make an "investment" or two on bricklink to build it IRL. There's still a lot of things that needs testing which is not possible in LDD, so I'm a bit scared that I will have bought a bunch of bricks that won't work... metsjo-trailer.lxf -
Coming in at over 600 pieces (approximately 85% CCBS, 12.5% Technic and 2.5% System) and 55 cm (1 foot 10 inches) tall is my Makuta contest entry! He features two sets of wings, a Mask of Ultimate Power with adjustable facial expressions, a traditional villainous cape, ten tentacular tendrils and the stability of a Hero Factory 2.0 figure. Furthermore, his 70 cm (2 feet 4 inches) wingspan can fold up behind his cape to act as an extension of said cape. As you can see, he towers over any other CCBS figure. Even Grievous only comes up to his waist. Anyway, his gallery contains many more pictures showing off his various features.

TECHNIC PNEUMATIC CONTEST By popular demand the next Eurobricks Technic Contest is all about Pneumatics. The new Volvo EW160E has been released recently, so it seems like a logical moment to focus on Pneumatics. In the past we've had several great Pneumatic models and recently we kind of lacked a nice manually operated model. TLG stepped up and released the Volvo. They even created a new hand pump for this model. So Pneumatics V2 is very much alive! DESCRIPTION Design a pneumatic model operated by one or more hand pumps and/or one or more (PF) motors powering one or more pneumatic pumps. So you can use motors as long as they are used to drive a pneumatic pump. They can't be used for other functions (not even to operate a pneumatic switch). There's no limit on the number of hand or motorized pumps and you can use. Third party hosing, strings and rubber bands are allowed. No other 3rd party parts. LEDs (and other LEGO lights) are permitted when you are using one or more motorized pumps. Since this contest is all about Technic and Pneumatic, Model Team entries are NOT allowed. A studded model is okay (like the excavator in the picture) but don't turn it into a Model Team entry. DEADLINE Deadline date is Monday 31st of October, 2016. Contest will be closed on Tuesday 1st of November, OR LATER. Disclaimer: I will close the contest when I see fit and when I have the time to process the results. This can be later than the deadline date. Please don't complain about this not being fair and all. Moving parts like a crane can be bigger than the size limit, but the models need to be able to fit in the dimensions provided. Taking off things is not allowed. If something (the crane) folds, while attached to the vehicle, it's okay. Some studded parts and panels are okay, but no model team finish. Pneumatics are permitted. 3rd party strings, hoses and rubber bands are permitted. LEDs are NOT permitted. Pullback Motor is NOT permitted. Electronics (PF elements, SBricks and Mindstorms) are NOT permitted. EXAMPLES FOR SIZE LIMIT A model is 25 studs long, 15 studs high and 11 studs wide. This means the model has a dimension of 4.125 cubic studs, so it's allowed. A model is 60 studs long, 10 studs high and 11 studs wide. This means the model has a dimension of 6.600 cubic studs, so it's allowed. A model is 60 studs long, 15 studs high and 25 studs wide. This means the model has a dimension of 22.500 cubic studs, so it's NOT allowed. GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS The contest is open to all EB members (also new members). Voting is Open! In a galaxy far, far away a group of characters we know so well had adventures we don't know about. We've heard about Lando's maneuver at the Battle of Tanab but we've never seen it. We saw Anakin leading Clonetroopers, but did he ever lead Stormtroopers the same way? And we know Anakin and Obi-wan escaped from a nest of Gundarks, but have you ever seen a Gundark? With the upcoming Rogue One movie, we will begin to delve into some of those in-between movie stories. But why wait! Add your own story to the Star Wars Anthology and submit it for this contest. Details There will be two size categories. The small category entries can be between 0-32 studs square. The large category entries can be 32 square studs or larger. Regardless of which size category the entry falls into, all entries must include a named, non-generic Star Wars character that appears in Episodes 1-7. For example, you could not have an entry that only includes generic Stormtroopers, but you could submit an entry that focuses on FN-2199 (TR-8R). All entries must show an actual or fictional event that is set between Episodes 1-7. Fictional events can include material from the EU/Legacy, Clone Wars shows, Rebels shows, or your own imagination! Everyone may enter both categories but with only one entry per category. One entry per member and per category. You can enter both categories with different entries, but you'll be eligible to receive only one prize. Rules One entry per member and per category. You can enter both categories with different entries, but you'll be eligible to receive only one prize. The size restrictions for the small category is 0 - 32x32 studs. You awake on a cold stone slab at the top of towering stepped pyramid, the last thing you remember was sharp pain in the back of your head before it all went dark. You can't see anyone around but you're sure things won't end well if you hang around here. You quickly descend the pyramid, afraid to look back. There are huts at the bottom and you try to sneak between them, keeping out of sight, You pass what could be a ball game court and head for the cover of the jungle, heading up a hill, you're faced with a rickety bridge, it doesn't look stable and the valley below is deep and the water dark and fast flowing, but there is no other option but to cross, Your heart is beating when you make it to the other side, you start running, pushing branches of jungle trees out of your way when suddenly the ground gives way....... A spiked pit trap! ....... you manage to keep your footing and swerve around it and soon the jungle opens out and you are standing on a cliff. What's that on the horizon? it's your ship... they're waiting for you. You run to the edge but it's too high to jump, and it looks like there are sharks in the water, you have to find a way down to the beach, Reluctantly you head back into the jungle, you try to fight against it but your path seems to be drawing you back under the ominous shadow of the great pyramid, Soon you are at its foot, the jungle is thick all around it, it looks like a dead end. Then just when you are about to give up you find an opening to a tunnel, its dark, but what other choice do you have.... The tunnel is long but there is a small glow that suggests an exit, so you run towards it..... Eugh, the exit is a mass of cobwebs and spiders, but you're out of the tunnel and back into.... ...more jungle, and its leading you back to the village. It's dusk and you stick to the shadows, skirting around the edge of the pillars of a grey building that could be a palace you head through a garden and back into the trees, The path is over-grown with plants and you duck and weave between branches and leaves and scramble over roots, putting as much distance between you and the pyramid as you can, The light is fading as night approaches but there is a flicker of fire ahead. You emerge into a clearing and stare up in horror at the grinning face of a jaguar carved into the living rock, its mouth open and its stalactite-like teeth seemingly gnashing in the eerie glow of the brazier's flames. There is only one path, so with mounting dread you head cautiously between its teeth. The cave is dark and you narrowly avoid falling into a pit on your right, but heading left you emerge once again into jungle, it's almost dawn. but this time the vegetation is less dense and seems to be sloping gently downwards to the sea, You see a sail... your ship has moored at the beach, you run towards it, and safety..... As you escape from the dragon's onslaught, you find a mysterious device in the hills. It responds to your commands by moving around with gusto. With it, you hope to defeat the scourge that raised your village. However, to fight this fiend, you must trek across the lands, and the lands are filled with monsters. Monsters: A hydra in the swamp A nuckelavee in the waters. For those who don't know, a nuckelavee is a water spirit in the shape of a horse with a rider that spends most of its time as an intangible presence in the water. A manticore waiting for the right time to strike along the path A swooping cockatrice attacking from the skies A salamander in its slimey den A sphinx guarding the bridge A dragon surrounded by the burning forest Special features include an alternate path with special point spots, monster body parts that can be moved to block off paths (the hydra heads, the nuckelavee's horse head, the manticore's tail and the cockatrice's wings) and a swiping dragon's paw which can knock the ball right into one of the lava pits. Top view. The green spot is the starting point, the dragon's maw is the end and the yellow spots are optional bonus points. Yes, I checked, the dragon's wings fit in the maze. From this view, you can see the difficulties involved in choosing the bonus point route a bit better; amongst other things, you have to get out of the ditch formed by the salamander. I made various digital stickers for this project; the cockatrice's, the manticore, the nuckelavee and the sphinx's heads and the brick path. All in all, it was a lot of fun making this, and I hope you guys like it! Comments and criticism appreciated.

Hope you (and judges ) like it Features. 1:10 Scale RWD and Fake V8 engine 4 Speed Gearbox with remote stick Independent suspension in the 4 wheels Working Steering Wheel (No HOG) Openable hood and doors (With lock system) Adjustable seats with gears Big Spoiler (Like the RSR models) Miscellaneous things like hand bag, lights etc. *Surprise feature* Removable V8 engine and transmission like a car About the last feature, well, I'll show it later in another pics and video. (I haven't had time to take more pics) Here are the pics of the last feature Making this function was the most difficult of the model, because it must be work smooth in every gear and I must find the proper joint points in the gearbox to the chassis. Also it must be easy to remove without bending or forcing the rest of the car. After many tests, I achieved it. Technic Contest Bandits vs Enforcers - Results This contest was based on the series M.A.S.K. which aired during the 80's. It's about vehicles transforming from a regular vehicle to a battle vehicle. The Black Sun is sabotaging the Rebels for someone to get Imperial codes to get their goods off planet. And they are working with or rather for someone with access to those Imperial codes. So awhile back BZPower had a contest where you made a hypothetical poster for the upcoming Bionicle Netflix series. I decided to enter it and made it into the finals.
