[NOT made by me] Zombie Horse
Wardancer replied to Wardancer's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Customizing is refining, not mutilating. Ok, when you cut off a horse's leg, it's also mutilating. -

Is there any indication that this chicken is a chicken suit? I mean, who is in it? Quagmire? The chicken bleeds very normal, doesn't it? It looses feathers as well. It might a clever trick by FG to turn the chicken suit stereotype back into a real chicken. This is just hard to prove. Either it being a chicken is evidence for it being a chicken OR for being a inverted imitation of a stereotype which itself has inverted a chicken into human form and is now double mirrored back into the original. -

Interesting that so awesome a country is not represented here. Steve Irvin and Aboriginals come to mind, but besides that? Applying some of the methods used in this thread, we can maybe say that all LOTR figs are Australian because the movies were made in New Zealand. -
[NOT made by me] Zombie Horse

Just realized the Lich Kings Horse is black. Hmm. Also it doesn't show much bone. SPOILER ALERT, do not watch if you haven't finished season 2. Epic. Hmm, still I will try that one day with a white one. Once again, my ideas move forward much faster than I could ever build stuff. -

Sorry, I did not want to belittle the research you have put into this. I just wanted to mention that it is very difficult to identify a single source for cultural stereotypical figures. In some cases, different criteria might lead to different results. Take the mechanic for example. Of course Daimler is sort of a root for that in terms of a history of technology. But did he really shape the image of the mechanic with tattoos and all that? For me, the CMF mechanic looks like a hells angel (rocker club). Maybe the image of the mechanic was mainly shaped by Hollywood in the mid of the 20th century, when biker movies came up. The same is true for what I said about asimov. Mechanical people have been in literature at least since ETA Hoffmann in German dark romanticism. These would have classified as robots if the term would have existed. Instead they were called "automat". The color scheme of Santa is an invention the Coca Cola Company. -
Very good review, with the size comparisons and all that. I think the asian hat is new in that color as well.

Interesting. Can there be such a thing as "inventor of nurses"? I mean, was there really a point in history when someone said. "OK, how bout this? We let women take care of sick people!" Funny that the Alien Queen belongs to the UK. Didn't know colonialism did reach outer space. I thought the trendsetter was Paris Hilton? Well, all this is quite debatable, but I guess you know that. Italy invented the wedding? Seriously. Not bad, not bad. The Motorcycle mechanic goes back to Gottfried Daimler. Muhahaha! Yeah, looks just like him: The robot should be linked to Isaac Asimov. If you start going back to etymological roots, then everything would become Latin I guess. -

Instantly recognizable! Fine work. -
Awesome. This redefines "heavy cavallery". I love the dynamics going on there!

Hi Everyone, I usually don't post stuff from others, but I found something interesting that I thought I'd share here. I was thinking about making enemies for my elf army in the future. As I like Game of Thrones, I like the Lich King and his icy hordes. Then I thought about how to make a zombie horse. Not a skeleton horse, but a zombie one with flesh and bones. At first I thought decals might be thing for that. Then I found this. NOT MADE BY ME, DO NOT GIVE ME CREDIT Isn't this nice? If I had the time, I would try it with a new white horse from a lone ranger set. Do you know other attempts at Zombie horses?

And how cool is that?! I wonder what Zcerberus does not see as dragonlike. (?) It may be a matter of thin wormish dragons vs. fatter ones. But the traditional lego mold is quite in the middle, isn't it? I think the shape looks very dragonlike, the colour is much to bright though. I would prefer dark red or earthen tones but obviously this line tries to be as colorful as possible.

REVIEW: 71001 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 10
Wardancer replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Thanks for the review, it provided me with all the details I need. I am glad TLG supports army builders by using a fair distribution. When I see Series 9 forest maidens for 9 Euro on Ebay, I hope this won't happen with the ones in series 10. Medusas are a bit rare, but most people will be happy with 1 or 2. I like the seagull. Together with the raven from the Lone Ranger there is a nice selection of birds available now.- 114 replies

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 10 Discussion
Wardancer replied to CM4Sci's topic in Special LEGO Themes
If it goes on like this my army will turn into a female army! Nice to see the chrome gold shield of the warrior woman. I still wish it was a bit more complex. It will be nice on air mounted warriors obviously. 10 warrior women and a medusa for the hairpiece will do it. I hope distribution will be more than 2 per box. I still remember when the spear elaborate was a rare thing, now its everywhere. The warrior woman will be less easy to feel (this sounds so weird, but you know what i mean) than the forest lady-- 1,076 replies

Painting a Kingdoms Helmet
Wardancer replied to RoyalBrickCustoms's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Sounds like a good deal of work, but it is worth a try. If you can manage to tape off so detailled... The helmets are not very expensive, so there ist not much to loose I guess. -
Perfect! It looks very realistic and I guess a minifig can sit on it! Can't wait for season 3 when things really get out of control. GoT is my favourite media event since LOTR.

I could also live with the city bear mold if if had a new printing and maybe a different color. The bear in the picture looks more fierce and older, also I don't know if the city bear could stand up like this.

Is this a rumour with beorn? I cannot find a post that confirms him TLG made an extra mold for the hungarian horntail, so I believe Beorn might have an extra mold as well. Same goes goes for Smaug.

Painting a Kingdoms Helmet
Wardancer replied to RoyalBrickCustoms's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
I cannot think of another way than just using a fine brush. The upper side will be quite easy I guess. Since there are some straight lines you could try to use tape to cover up the areas that are not supposed to be painted. The fine margin between the upper side of the pattern and the actual helmet can be problematic. At least it was with the helmets that I painted. Better decide before if you want that line painted or not, it might be easier to leave it. -
I am getting excited over here. Can this really be used like a regular paint or is it more like a thick mud with chunks in it? Wouldn't it ruin every brush you use it with immediately? Pictures, we demand... errr politely ask for pictures.

A giant bug hurling huge slime balls filled with angry larvae towards unsuspecting soldiers - is this a common level of violence and slimyness for LEGO space?
-
Do you think it is necessary to do this every time you need fresh paint or is it possible to keep some dissolved bricks in a small jar and use that same solution every time you need to paint?
