Collectable Minifigure Sightings & Availability
Wardancer replied to mo123567's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Sighted in GERMANY. In Giessen. I managed to get 4 forest ladies out of 3 boxes. First I felt them, then I went by dot code. It sucks that there are only 2 in a box. -
Great Orthanc! I wonder if there is going to be some superrare fig with it. It might sound heretic, but maybe I'll just buy the instructions and build a replica in a different color. Black seems so hmmm... dark.

Collectable Minifigure Sightings & Availability

Any sightings in Germany already? I wonder if it makes sense to go hunting already. -
Very beautiful. I wish official princesses had side printings on their skirts. This made me look into BL to see what parts exist in sand purple.

Fiérce the Dryad With the orc problem becoming more and more pressing in the elven part of the forests, the druids had to resort to desperate measures: calling the dryads. These vile creatures usually slumber in the harsh, barren parts of the forest. When summoned, cold hatred makes them rise and move towards the enemy. A shell of wood hardened by the ages makes them virtually impenetrable to most of the weapons used by mortals. With claws as hard as steel they stab their enemies without mercy. Dryads move faster than their big brothers, the Tree Demons and they usually travel in groups. Fiérce was the first to be called, and she will be in a particularly bad mood until her sisters show up. So if something whispers and crackles in the woods tonight, better not suppose it is the forest fairy... Fiérce front von MWardancer auf Flickr Fiérce half left von MWardancer auf Flickr Fiérce back von MWardancer auf Flickr This was not an easy build, but I enjoy how she turned out. I had wanted to make dryads for a while but it was difficult to make a structure with branches and twigs. She is one head taller than a regular fig which was the size I was hoping for. I saw all the sci-fi walking hardsuits and thought I needed something like this for the elves. I bought the parts to build 4 dryads, but it might take a while until I make more. The idea was inspired by Warhammer Wood Elf Dryads. She still has some posability so I hope to have a picture with a few charging dryads one day. Comments welcome.

What is with the figs in The Council of Elrond? The picture shows 3 red blobs which can be either figs with red hoods or chairs. At first I thought they were three elves, but the box only shows one red hooded fig in the lower left corner. A blue Galadriel will be nice, the blue eagle queen from Chima can be her sister. I am very stoked about the eagles. They will make my EADS much stronger (=Elven Air Dominance Squad). Up to now, Harry Potter griffins were the only way to have small mounted air units (besides dinosaurs). With the new eagles, it might happen that the griffins suddenly look boring in comparison. What will they do with Smaug? With the red dragon being re-released in Castle 2013, dragons will be a bit more affordable than paying a huge sum for the green dragon and the hungarian horntail.

The 10 mirkwood elves a friendly EB member imported for me arrived recently. They are very beautiful, the silver part of the printing makes them look noble. With the orc problem becoming more and more serious in the forests, it is very important that the army grows.

+ 1 for Ludzik He went through great efforts to make an awesome deal for me, everything was perfect and I am very grateful. -
The queen looks nice. I guess she will be in the biggest set? I don't like that they use "Chi" as energy source, although it makes sense when the theme is called Chima. Chi is a concept used in many western esoteric teachings so it kind of violates the fictionality and playfulness of a lego theme. Monster fighters at least had the "moon stones". Are there really no better ideas that sources of some spiritual or natural energy. I feel this has been overdone since the New Age. I don't have strong religious objections, I just think creativity could go beyond that. Use the force!

Good idea! It might look a bit odd with yellow hands and a yellow head thought. But its worth a try...

Ashokas torso would have made a very versatile torso for historical themes if they had not made it orange...

This might have been mentioned already, but the red robot has headpiece that is shaped like Boba Fett's Slave One.

The trailer looks surprisingly dark and grim. I would have suspected a more humourous tone. I personally think PotC 3 was the pirate movie to end all pirate movies. It took everything the theme has to offer, used it to the max and ironically deconstructed it at the same time. Making a pirate movie after that is almost impossible. I wonder if The Lone Ranger will do that to Western movies although I doubt it. About the sets: A white horse will be very welcome. Besides that i wonder what it will offer nature-wise. Deserts are a bit empty, are they not. Anyway, I of course hope for some new spear or bow moulds although I don't believe in it. Maybe printed horses will be seen, Those could be used for other themes. For example the old Indians horses are quite nice and the black PoP horse is also beautiful.

Fantu, what an awesome idea with the atlantis helmets. I am going to use that and give credit to you. This is a customizers spirit: if it doesn't fit, cut it off. See the elf in everything and cut off everything non-elf!

I made use of a 20% nikolaus discount at Karstadt and bought a Warg attack for 48 Euro. Gonna sell off the dwarves. The wargs are very nice.

REVIEW: 71000 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 9
Wardancer replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I'll repeat my thoughts on Maid Marian. I like her a lot, but she needs to be changed to be an army builder. The shield is fantastic, I have been looking for another big elven shield and here it is, Awesome Her hair is very special, Too special to be armybuilt, if you take 10 of these next to each other it will look exaggerated. Also I think she needs pants. She looks more like a princess than a warrior and one doesn't need many pricesses. Maybe the actors pants will fit her nicely.. I shall need 10 and 10 extra shields.- 171 replies

Well done! I especially like the idea with the samurai head.

Just found a very friendly EBler who is going to sell 10 mirkwood elves to me.
-
What the elf? If I bought 5 Elronds here in Germany it would cost about 120 Euro?! Hmm, Elronds torso backside almost looks better than the front.

This thread can be closed or left to die. Helpful EB members have offered me lots of polys and I have made a deal I am very happy with. My anks of elves will soon be reinforced. I am stoked how helpful EB members are when it comes to distributing the stuff we all so urgently need.

Ah thanks, I thought the similarity in name was there to anticipate the growing friendship between Chewbaca and the Ewoks. And going back to topic... The first wargs show up on bricklink. They are what interests me the most although they are hard to combine with elves aestheticwise. The same goes for the bear that has been around for a while. I need a good idea but it's not easy. And: Where are new horses in new colours? Strange that it takes so long...

Germans might be interested to hear that I saw The Hobbit sets today at Karstadt in Giessen (I just noticed that wargs rhymes with orcs. Tolkien must have done that on purpose. Why did I not see that before. It also took me 15 years to realise that Ewok is Wookie inverted.)

What do you think of CMF Series 9 teaser release by TLG?
Wardancer replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
IMHO TLG needs to be careful not to destroy the special aura that surrounds leaks. Official teasers are everywhere, only few products are celebrated and discussed as much as CMF when leaks come up. Leaks are viral marketing for free. I still have the hypothesis that with the CMF TLG tries to recreate the pre-christmas experience of AFOLS' childhoods (facing a present with hidden contents, having to wait, feeling or dotcoding their contents and thereby trying to beat the one who hid it). Leaks are not directly linked to that, but they add to the atmosphere. TLG for AFOLS has the role as parents have for their child (they decide when the presents are given) and part of the scheme is that the child can beat the parents. Leaks could be compared to accidentally hearing what parents give for christmas (=having information that is supposed to be secret) and therefore should better be used strategically. -

Typical AFOL Ideas include: - Trade them for the new brown mushrooms in the Hobbit sets. Then buy half of them back for double the prize because you had an idea for a MOC. Afterwards, trade 25 mushrooms for a warg. - Buy frogs and army build the new frog army. Declare yourself leader of the frogs and post a picture on you tube. - Have CMF Hippie smoke them. - Have CMF witch cook them. - Have some FRIENDS eat them so they need to get their stomachs pumped out in a pink and violet poison emergency room. - NPU them on tiny tiny tiny starships. - Built the first super star destroyer with red and white greebles. - Write a review in which you examine possible printing errors on the mushrooms. - Wait until they are released in blue.
