Axle Collection Thread
Johnny1360 replied to efferman's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Indeed that would be a very stiff suspension. I do wonder though if the ratchet mechanism could be modified to make this work. -
Lots of working features for such a small build, love it and it actually accommodates four figures. Looks like it would fit in well with any City layout.

Very well done, makes me want to go there now, we actually just got an IKEA store here locally, just recently. Is that a two way escalator?

70916 The Batwing $44.99 at Target today. They have a lot of sets on clearance right now, could have shelled out a lot of cash saving money.
-
What's all this winging I keep reading about.
-
As far as I know yes, this seems too be the norm more and more lately. Honestly I don't think anyone here has issues with someone pointing out flaws or shortcomings of sets, it's more of an issue when they continually repeat themselves every three or four posts. Kind of derails the discussion. Myself may hate it after I see more pictures, if I do I will say so and move on.

It doesn't look so bad to me, but what do I know. I can't wait to see more/better pictures though, hard to be judgemental from just that one. Would like to know piece count and price US dollars as well, maybe not a day one buy but I will have it.
-
Can't say for sure but I just checked a bunch of mine and they all have the c followed by the LEGO logo and then many numbers. Didn't see any without the logo and numbers, I can't possibly check them all and everything I have is from recent sets, less than four years.

Have you looked already on the LEGO website? I know there is another website that makes available official LEGO set instructions as well called Brickinstructions, if not. If all else fails Google may be of help. Good luck.

I don't think so, just tried. The seat is basically 2x3 studs, so I guess you could if you remove their legs or have them standing up.

My 8x8 Project
Johnny1360 replied to Mechbuilds's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
@sirslayer might have some advice for you in that department, I think he has been doing some testing on part strength and weight differences. I think he said black seems to be the strongest. -
Lego 42069 - D MODEL
Johnny1360 replied to Dyen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hell yeah, looks like one of those hi-performance jobs, for racing, well done indeed. -
Okay then, we're you planning on posting any pictures, if not it will be hard to offer any sort of constructive advice or much less comment on. Which I believe is the whole point of a wip topic. I do look forward to seeing it, being as I have been thinking about doing a small/medium one myself for some time.

Why aren't there any large transparent Lego plates?
Johnny1360 replied to Takanuinuva's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Set 31066 Space Shuttle Explorer does have two 2x3 tiles with clips in trans blue, so it is definitely doable. They also appear to be identical to their non-clear counterparts so at least at that size it is quite feasible. -
Glad to see the overhang in transport mode isn't near as bad as I had originally feared, doesn't look bad at all and does seem to be in accord with real life. Okay I get it now, the 1:1 is for the minifig in the box, then it is shrunk down to show how a figure looks in relation to the set. Don't know why that confused me at first, sometimes I really am a moron.

42079 - Heavy Duty Forklift
Johnny1360 replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I see that you have posted this in like three different threads and I am not understanding what you mean, I see no 1:1 scale. Am I not seeing something right, sorry for the stupid question, feel like I am missing something. -
Great super simple solution, seems to work well. Thanks for the pictures. I am always interested how others achieve working steering on such a small scale. I try to make small steering but by the time I finish it ends up to wide or not working properly.

Tatra T-813 8x8 Kolos
Johnny1360 replied to Sariel's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Looks good, I personally like these smaller scale models, it often seems more challenging to keep all the proper functions and still make it look right. Are those tires the RC4WD ones that rm8 reviewed last month? I really like the looks of them but I am on the fence about buying some. How do you like them, work out okay? -
Even though I have not been out of my dark age long enough to have yellowing issues or scratched trans clear parts I still have read enough about it to realize it's an issue. I do wonder if anyone has ever tried some of those automotive headlight lens cleaning kits on their trans clear parts, they seem to work miracles on TV with polycarbonate lens.

LEGO Ideas Discussion
Johnny1360 replied to The Real Indiana Jones's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I think that's a lot better, I thought it was $220 -
/\ me too /\ I would like to see how the power is transferred from the trailer to drive wheel as well, I thoroughly enjoy these smaller RC trucks and this one looks like one I would enjoy building. Good job.

Cool, I like it. I live here in Indianapolis and I have never seen that fire station but that is definitely Indy's skyline. I can kind of tell were it is at though, I think I shall seek it out and take some pictures of it now and build it as well. Thank you for this wonderful discovery, it is a unique fire station and your representation is very good as well. You wouldn't happen to know the street address?

[moc] Modular scaled cars with chrome! final V.
Johnny1360 replied to Ron Dayes's topic in LEGO Town
I have always enjoyed your car MOCs and think most of them turned out really well, especially all being kept in the same scale, no easy feat. I also appreciate you sharing your build process, gives me ideas on how to do it myself. I do hope to see more in the future, regardless thanks for sharing all your wonderful vehicles.
