Dig it, cool truck, what set/sets are those wheels and tires from? Don't believe I've seen them before.

Most excellent review @JopieK thanks for taking the time to write it out so well. This will be my introduction to LEGO trains so I am really stoked to get this set, this review makes me want it all the more, can't wait. I couldn't quite make out the sets footprint dimensions off the back of the box picture, does someone happen to know what they are? Also when is this supposed to be available to US customers?

[REVIEW] Bandit's Secret Hideout (6761)
Johnny1360 replied to Henchmen4Hire's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
One thing I really like about this set is the inclusion of a special base plate, something I would like to see more of, although that is wishful thinking at best. Never will understand why LEGO has all but eliminated the baseplates with sets thing. -
I think if that where the case, there would be a compartment for them to be installed in, which there isn't. They are different colors as well, even though they have similar markings, Lexcorp branded I believe.

I wondered that myself, I assumed it was some sort of kryptonite gas or something, don't know for sure though.

Hands down Technic and I feel like a sellout here but Star Wars followed by Ninjago then The LEGO Batman movie. Since I have only been out of my dark age for a couple of years now and quit playing with LEGO in the 70's I missed out on all those great nostalgic sets everyone else seems to long for.

What's not to like about it? Turned out really well, modified pieces and all. Totally looks like something you'd see at a traveling carnival. Excellent work. Now all you need are some tractors to pull all those trailers around.

42083 - Bugatti Chiron
Johnny1360 replied to Jurss's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Addressing automatic transmission thing, I think most people are talking about a transmission that shifts gears as needed automatically. While I guess that would be cool, the main function of an automatic transmission is the ability to multiply torque via a fluid coupling, which while it would be very cool, I just don't see that happening with LEGO and it would definitely require power functions to implement. -
Lets talk color vomit

That really made me laugh, everytime I buy LEGO the clerk says "would you like a gift receipt with that sir". -
Having had the opportunity to play with this set a couple of weeks ago at the LEGO store, I would have to say your review is spot on. You echo my thoughts of this set to a tee, thank you for the in depth review, we see so few of these in this era of video u-tube reviews. I do like the set unfortunately I just don't have the space, it is huge, or money to get it, wish I could just buy every set but I do have to exercise some self control, so this set gets a pass for me.

Lets talk color vomit
Johnny1360 replied to aminnich's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I quite often mistake dark blue for black, when it come to following the instructions. It's the instruction book that throws me off not the actual brick and usually with 1x1 and 1x2 plates. I'm sure it's a condition from getting older so most likely don't have an issue with it. -
I can't imagine selling an opened poly bag sets value would be increased any significant amount because it includes the bag, maybe a few cents at most. Maybe if there was something special on the bag half a dollar.

I'm sure you meant train wheels, which I can see it has, just thinking maybe the width is not the same as track spacing, or maybe it won't negotiate curves properly. Probably does but who knows. I did notice it doesn't have the magnetic couplers.

Lets talk color vomit
Johnny1360 replied to aminnich's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I know I am going to get shot down for this but here goes. To me color vomit is not even a real thing as far as LEGO is concerned. I guess I am just used to it or something. -
Well it seems easy enough, quite a few members are discussing just that over in the train forum. I for one would have liked one or two pieces of straight track to better display the set, train people don't seem to mind at all. I do understand it is a play set and is meant to be pushed around though. Makes me kind of wonder if it actually fits on train track as is.

Me too, oddly enough I really like both sets very much.

What a great idea from LEGO, new big head minifigs, allows for far more detail.

Johnny1360 replied to Rolic's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Your technique seems exactly opposite of how everyone else does it, none the less it looks very good so far. Following with great interest. -
Just so perfectly executed I could stare at it for hours, so many cool details that add to the overall effect, love it. That guys hair popping up, looking at his car, classic, actually made me laugh out loud. Very well done.

Why hasn't Johnny Thunder come back?
Johnny1360 replied to Takanuinuva's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Well we do have The LEGO Movie 2 coming out, so who knows what characters and themes will be resurrected. -
Yes @bonox you are correct of course, wasn't really trying to start a debate on what constitutes rough terrain, just trying to point out why manufacturers would call this type of crane a rough terrain crane. Basically it can drive over terrain that most other cranes can't. Which you explained quite well, just wanted to add to it.
